Chapter Text

You stepped back to look at the tent you two set up. It can fit three people, but considering your fiancé’s bulk of muscles, only you two. Avdol looked at you, smiling with those glittering eyes. You two finally had free time together, so you both decided that camping was the best way to go somewhere new together. He was excited to do this, since he had often gone during his childhood. He took a look around at the trees. “I’ll set up everything else,” he decided, “Could you get firewood?”

“Okay,” you nodded and turned to go but he put a hand on your shoulder, turning you again.

He kissed your forehead, running his hand through your hair. “If anything happens, yell for me.” He handed you an emptied backpack to put the wood in.

“I’ll be fine,” you assured him, “I’ll be back in an hour.” With that, you left in a steady rain, picking up anything you found to work for fire despite the downpour. Time flew for you while you looked around, for nature is a beautiful thing. You saw animals run around, big and small, gorgeous and cute. You eventually started to follow some animals around as you picked up wood. The precipitation ended and left you soaked and by the time you checked your watch again, you had spent three hours out here. Not only that, but you were lost. Nothing around you looked familiar, and you can tell you were far away from any civilization for there was an unsettling quiet.

"Hello?" You called. No response. You had left your phone in the car, and you doubted your Stand's range could reach him. You looked up to the sky. The sun was always going westward, so now you have a good idea of a compass in your mind. You thought back and tried to determine which direction your campsite was. South, right? You turned right and traveled southward. You started to yell again in hopes you find someone. "Hello? Mohammed? Mohammed! Can anyone hear me?" Your voice began to grow hoarse with wear, and your legs were far too tired to trudge anymore. You sat down on a tree root, the dirt getting on your trousers the least of your worries. Damn, you were thirsty, but you hadn't brought drinking water, a foolish choice.

You looked up again. Through the leaves, a carroty light seemed to burn bright in an attempt to show you a clear sky. The sun had to be setting by now, and as if on perfect timing, the mosquitoes began to buzz. You were wearing resistant spray, but even then they started to swarm you. You clapped at them as you tried to recover some sort of energy, but there were so many they were draining it instead. You eventually started counting how many of them you killed this way: four, five, six... Seven-- nine. Their crushed innards stained your hands in blood. Disgusting.

Your thoughts wandered to Avdol. Is he looking for you? Is he out there, yelling your name? He has to be. You thought of your time with him; the warmth of his smile, his tender touch. It was silly to think that you're going to die out here, but what are the odds? You could almost feel his fingers brush your cheek, his hot breath, his scent. You strayed into a memory or two, his voice humming tunes as he went about, him whispering passion into your ear, his soft lips against yours. These could be sweet thoughts, or elicit ones. You want all this. You want him- no, you need him. You have to talk to him again. You stood from where you were and started to traipse, headed the direction you started. "Mohammed!"

It was quiet for a long time in the intervals you rested your voice. Then you heard your name in the distance. A cough, and then your name again, a little closer now. You shouted again in hope. Each call was closer and closer. "Is that you? Where are you?" he asked.

You saw the trail again to your right and you went for it in a rush of success. "I'm going to the trail!" You arrived and there you saw him, as grime-soused and physically exhausted as you are. But regardless of the fatigue, both of your eyes lit up and you ran to him, who was awaiting with open arms. Despite his current physical debility, he picked you up under your arms and spun you around in excitement, making you drop everything you had collected from your open backpack. "Agh! Do you have water?" You asked, holding back a dry cough.

"Yeah, here." He put you down and handed you his canteen. He let you sip (More like greedily drown yourself in) the drink and suddenly hugged you. "Where did you go? You said you'd be back hours ago!" He kissed the top of your searing head.

"I, ah, got lost. But I got the wood," You pointed at the lumber now strewn in an ellipsis around the two of you. You could hear his heavily pounding heart under his ribs, the effect of fear. He was scared that something bad had happened to you and has been looking for you this whole time.

"I don't want to lose you, never get lost again. Okay?" He didn't take your silence for an answer, "I don't want to lose the best love that I've ever found. Okay?"

    "I won't get lost again."

"And I'm going with you everywhere now."

"That's a little too much, isn't it? What if I need to go?"

"Then you'll have to deal with me being there."

     "That's so gross!"

He laughed, tightening his grip around you like a constrictor. "I love you."

You decided to sink into him. You were safe now. "I love you, too."
