Work Text:
Hatsume is completely shameless in the way she approaches Tenya one day, a bright smile on her face and a look in her eyes that more than suggests she’s got something up her sleeve. In fact, as soon as he sees her coming towards him he contemplates going a little bit more quickly in an attempt to lose her, but he supposes that that’s not a very polite thing to do to anyone, regardless of how eccentric they may be.
(Plus, he knows that there’s a part of him that’s more fond of Hatsume than he lets on.)
“Long time, no see, Legs!” she proclaims, once she’s caught up to him. “You know what’s been all over school lately?”
He has a fairly good idea, but he still asks, “What might that be?”
“Well, I know you and the Almost-Champion and Floaty Girl are all going out, and going out with Loud Explodey Boy,” she says, “and I know that a couple other weird groups like that keep popping up in your class like it’s nothing! Don’t you think that’s totally crazy?”
Of course, the rest of the school has been thrown for a bit of a loop by the strange dating habits of Class 1-A, and Tenya should have expected her to become curious about it. Still, he thinks of her as more close to Midoriya than anyone else, and he doesn’t want to admit to himself how flattered he is that she chose to question him instead.
“Yes, I guess all of it is a little strange,” he says. “But I’m still getting used to the whole idea myself, so I’m hardly an expert…”
“I want in,” she says, so bluntly that he doesn’t understand her for quite some time.
“E-excuse me?!” he asks, once it’s finally sunk in.
“I said I want in,” she says, a fresh grin spreading across her face. “Come on, can’t you feel the chemistry between us? You’ve gotta feel something , right? I want in your little group! Well, except I’m not really interested in Loud Explodey Guy, but can you blame me?”
“Now...now, hold on, do you even remember our names?” he asks, because it’s easier than facing the fact that she just admitted to being interested in him , as if it were nothing.
“Sure! I remember most everyone’s name, from your class and most of the others! But nicknames are so much more memorable, don’t you think?” She beams. “So, what do you say?”
“I-I-I think...I think we’ll have to take to Uraraka and Midoriya before we...before I…” He can barely even form a coherent sentence, and he knows that he needs their help to figure this out.

Of course, Bakugo is there too, though he doesn’t say much other than, “Yeah, well, I don’t wanna date the goggle bitch either, so we’re good.”
“Don’t mind him,” Uraraka says, “he’s just like that.”
“All part of the territory, I’m sure! Well, I’m daring enough to be able to handle him, as I’m certain you all know.”
Bakugo scowls at her, but Midoriya gives him a look to keep him from saying anything. “So...you really like all three of us? And you just...decided to ask us all out?”
“That seemed like the best way to do it!”
“I mean, I guess I kinda knew you liked Deku,” Uraraka says.
“Because everyone in this fucking school does,” Bakugo mutters.
“Are you jealous?” she teases.
“Like hell I am!”
“I really do like all three of you!” Hatsume interrupts. “Wasn’t it obvious? I was so infatuated with all of you when we first met, I just didn’t know what to do with myself! And then everyone in your class stopped messing around with two-person relationships, and I had a stroke of genius!”
This is all going too fast for Tenya to wrap his head around and still Hatsume acts as if this is all only natural. They can’t make much progress with Bakugo there, or with her carefree behavior, and it is finally decided that they'll have to spend more time with her to see if this is even something that they can make work. Tenya thinks that he does want it to, though he isn’t exactly sure where that thought came from, but it’s hard to tell if adding another person to the mix will make things easier, or more difficult.

The fact that she’s in a different class doesn’t seem to affect Hatsume at all. She meets up with them after school whenever she can, and sometimes even during lunch, fitting in with the group fairly seamlessly. In the beginning, Tenya would have agreed with Uraraka that it seemed like Hatsume was only interested in Midoriya, but now he’s starting to be able to tell that she does like the two of them as well- though being in a relationship with three others has made it no easier to determine things like that.
She takes some time to spend alone with each of them as well, and though he doesn’t really know what she talks about or does with Midoriya or Uraraka, they both come out of their time with her more sure of her feelings, and Tenya tries not to be nervous about being alone with her. Ever since he started dating Midoriya and Uraraka, it was always the three of them, and the addition of Bakugo just made it the four of them.
Fortunately for him, Hatsume does most of the talking, filling any potential silence with further discussions of what sorts of modifications he could use to be more effective in combat, and stories about all the attention she got after his “help” in the sports festival. It seems like a lot of time passes before she actually gets to what he considers the matter at hand.
“It felt so weird, meeting all of you that day,” she says. “I’ve never really liked anyone like that before, and I didn’t think it was possible for it to happen like that with more than one person, let alone three! It kind of took me a while to figure out that’s what was going on. I’m not used to this sort of thing!”
“Well, I can relate to that,” Tenya replies. “I’m honestly not sure how things even came to be the way they are, but...I’m very happy that they did.”
“I hope you guys can find some room for me! I do tend to go overboard when I want something, and, like I said, this is the first time I’ve really liked anyone like this!” As Tenya looks at the smile on her face, he finds himself hoping for the same thing.

In the end, it’s easy for all of them to agree that Hatsume fits into their dynamic just fine, and, whenever they ask Bakugo, he says that he doesn’t “give a fuck what you do with that weird chick as long as I’m not involved,” which is about the closest they’re going to get to getting his blessing. So their group expands a little more, and Hatsume is ecstatic to be included, and the school is once again abuzz with gossip about the strange romantic situation in class 1-A.
She isn’t the first person from another class to find her way in, but it still causes the situation to get that much more attention, and people wonder if the rest of the class will soon be involved, and if anyone else from outside classes will end up involved.
