PRETEND

Summary:

When Jimin runs into his ex-boyfriend, he asks his best friend to Pretend.

Work Text:

The crowd goes crazy as the boy dances wildly to the beat of FXXK IT. Making a slow circular motion with his skin tight leather clad hips, he performs a sultry slut drop. 'Looks like I gave another Straight guy a boner. Oops.' He thinks throwing his head back in a promiscuous giggle as the song ends and he feels hands around his waist.

"Hey Chim." He almost moans at how husky his best friend's voice is but ends up turning his head to give him a peck on the cheek.

"You were late mister." He scolds the blonde sitting on the bar stool next to him, who keeps staring into his eyes instead. Getting flustered, Jimin starts ordering a drink.

"You have a life without him, you know that right?" Taehyung asks only to see Jimin stiffen up.

"Tae, you know I'm already over him." Jimin pleaded.

"Who are you trying to convince Chim? Me or yourself? Because I can clearly see the pain in your eyes. You're not over him. Not when he broke your heart. Not when you refuse to love again. Not when you come here thrice a week to dance and drink your worries away, Jimin-ah." Taehyung decided not to beat around the bush anymore and confronted his best friend since childhood. "Not when I know that you're falling apart from the inside because of that stupid ex of yours."

"Will you dance with me, Tae?" Of course, Park Jimin would choose avoid the elephant in the room.

Knowing that dancing was one of Jimin's coping mechanism, Taehyung didn't refuse. Plus he'd be damned if he let any other creepy bastard from the club touch his Jiminie.

Jimin finishes his drink in one shot and drags his blonde friend to the steamy dance floor. He's moving with Jimin to the beat of the sensual song playing in the club, when he notices a pair of doe eyes and bunny teeth pulled back in a smirk.

"Jimin he is here." He curses himself for not having a filter on his mouth when he sees Jimin's eyes widening. Oh no. He's made Jimin sad again. Taehyung is in the midst of getting a panic attack when soft arms wrap around his neck and he hears Jimin whisper something into his ear.

"I'm tired of running and hiding from him, Tae. Can we act like we're together? I want make him feel jealous for once. Can we Pretend?"

Jimin takes in a sharp breath as Taehyung wraps his hands around his waist, slipping them under his shirt and onto his bare skin. "I'll make him fucking regret losing you." Tae all but growls into Jimin's ear, spinning him around so that the smaller had his back to Taehyung's chest.

Slowly forgetting about him, Jimin and Taehyung start to genuinely enjoy their time together, grinding on each other as the sexual tension around them rises. Their lips are centimeters away from the other's when they hear someone clear their throat, making them move away.

"Jungkook?" Tae doesn't miss how Jimin becomes shier than he usually is. How his voice has that hurt shiver. He also doesn't miss how Jungkook's eyes roam Jimin's leather clad thighs, so he tugs his Chim closer, wrapping a hand around his hip.

"What do you want, Jeon?" Taehyung says glaring at the playboy.

Jungkook smirks while staring into Jimin's eyes. "Have you missed me, hyung? Well, you don't need to miss me anymore since I'm here to get you back."

"Stop being a liar Jungkook, you told me that I was nothing but a fucking dare to you." Jimin replies with his jaw clenching and eyes shut tightly.

"That was before I realized that I love you. Believe me baby, I've missed you so much. Just come back to me." Jungkook tried to make a sad puppy face, successfully getting on Taehyung's nerves.

"You failed to value my Jimin when you had him, Jeon. You lost your fucking chance when you cheated on him. He's with me now, back off." Taehyung said, clutching Jimin close to him.

Jungkook rolled his eyes as if annoyed and replied, "As if you two are even together. I can bet that Jimin asked a favor of you to make me jealous. Bet my clingy hyung still dreams of being with me. Don't you, Jimin-ah? It's not possible that I was the only one who cheated, as far as I'm aware you've always wanted to keep Jimin's ass to yourself, Kim. What proof do I have that you two weren't going at it when I was away?"

Jimin's eyes full of unshed tears opened as he felt Taehyung leave his side only to punch Jungkook right in the face. Jungkook didn't wait to counter attack and Jimin watched as the two people he loved, tried to hurt each other.

"Stop it, please." A broken sob left Jimin that made Taehyung look up at him with soft eyes. Jungkook took this chance to pack a strong punch to Taehyung's gut. "Taehyung!" Jimin rushed to his best friend who was clutching his stomach and pushed Jungkook off him. Seeing a small crowd beginning to gather around them, he put Taehyung's arm around his neck trying to help him to the restroom. They slowly made their way to the club's restroom but Jungkook refused to leave them alone.

"He's still more important to you, Jimin? You know, I wouldn't have cheated on you if it weren't for my doubts about you two. Now I know I was right to see you as you are, slut." Taehyung growled despite being hurt but Jimin had heard enough. He turned around and slapped Jungkook in the face.

"Don't you fucking dare blame this on me Jungkook. Don't you dare. I devoted two years of my life to you. I loved you, I cared for you, Heck! I thought you were the one for me. Guess what I got in return? I came home to find the love of my life, fucking a girl on our bed bragging about how he was going to publicly break up with his ugly looking boyfriend. You had the fucking audacity to tell me about the $100 bet you made with Yugyeom. Oh and that's not all, you never even tried to apologize to me. Two months, Jeon. You know how much it hurt to be caught in your lies? To hope that I was just having a bad dream and that my Kookie would come make up with me someday. Do you really hate me that much?" Jimin sobbed out with Taehyung coming up behind him to comfort him with a hug.

Jungkook flinched and stuttered out an almost inaudible response, "I was jealous."

"What was that, Jeon?" Taehyung asked as he squinted his eyes.

"I was jealous of the relationship you had with Jimin, alright?! I've never dated anyone other than Jimin. I never had any close friends. All I was and am is a fuckboy. I never expected to fall in love with someone. Who would even want someone like me? Turns out you did, Jimin. And when people talked of you and Taehyung as if you two were freaking soulmates I couldn't take it. I was afraid that I might never get the true love you share with Taehyung. I don't hate you at all, I just didn't know how to feel. I'm so sorry that I hurt you, hyung. Will you ever forgive me? Will you ever call me Gukkie again?" For the first time Jungkook guiltily looked at Jimin.

"I don't know Jungkook. All this is so messed up." Jimin painfully said. Seeing Jungkook cry because of him sent a jolt of pain to his heart.

Nodding his head once Jungkook wiped his tears and put on a fake smile. "I promise you hyung, this emotionally constipated dongsaeng of yours will truly try his best to earn your forgiveness." A kiss on Jimin's cheek and then he was gone, leaving Jimin a crying mess in the hands of Taehyung.

"Let's go home TaeTae, my heart hurts." Jimin mumbled into Taehyung's chest, who kissed the shorter's head and hugged him tighter.

"Take off your shirt." Jimin said unknowingly making Taehyung blush.

"Uh.. What?"

"So that I can apply medicine to your bruises, you idiot. I'm angry with you. Why did you have to get into a fight for me? I've told you before that I'm not worth it." Jimin wiped his tears as he sat on the couch next to Taehyung with a tube of ointment in his hand.

"Jimin-ah." Taehyung was staring into his eyes without blinking.

"Yah. Call me hyung, I'm 2 months older than you." Jimin tried breaking the eye contact to instead stare into the corner of the room.

"Don't you ever again depreciate yourself, Jimin. You're worth all the stars in this universe and yet you still shine brighter than the sun in my eyes. Don't you ever bring yourself down because of what other people think, Park Jimin. You're worth fighting for." Taehyung took Jimin's hands in his, slowly kissing them.

"Thank you Tae. You've literally been by my side through it all. For Better or for worse, you've never left me. Why can't I date you instead? You'd make the perfect boyfriend, TaeTae." Jimin sadly giggled, hugging Taehyung.

"Because you never considered that I might romantically love you." Taehyung shut his eyes as he spoke, soon after hearing Jimin let out a small gasp of surprise. "I've always been in love with you Minnie. I saw you play with Soonshim that summer when we were 7, and I instantly knew that I'd never love someone more than I love you." Still not letting go of the hug, Taehyung breathed in Jimin's scent, very much aware that it could be the last time hugging his mochi. Strawberries, he sighed.

"Why didn't you ever tell me?" Jimin asked shakenly.

"Because I didn't want to scare you away, Chim." Taehyung whispered in his husky voice. "And then Jungkook came and although I didn't trust him, I was happy seeing you so happy and in love."

"PABO!" Jimin yelled, pushing Tae away from him and hitting his chest. "You're a pabo Kim Taehyung! Before I fell for Jungkook I was trying to get over you. I never thought I had a chance with you." Tears again fell from his eyes but this time, they were happy tears. Pleasantly surprised, Taehyung wiped them away and kissed his cheeks making Jimin sit on his lap.

"Do you still love me, Jimin-ah?" Jimin nodded burrying his face in Taehyung's chest as he felt him grinning widely.

Jimin looked up and flicked Tae's forehead. "Pabo-yah you're supposed to kiss me. Not grin."

"Let's not pretend anymore. Let's date for real this time." Taehyung said as they finally kissed.

The ointment lay forgotten on the couch.
