Miyuki thought lazy Sundays were probably made for this, as he ran idle fingers through the mop of brown hair tickling his chin.

They were lying in a nest of pillows and blankets on the floor in front of the television. Eijun was totally engrossed in whatever terrible movie was playing, but Miyuki didn’t mind. He was kind of drowsy, anyway. Afternoon naps just weren’t something he got to partake of often, and Eijun’s head pillowed on his chest was surprisingly comfortable.

Miyuki sighed, eyes finally closing as he slipped into a light doze.

He should have known the peace wouldn’t last for long. This was him, after all.

Eijun’s breath hitched. It wasn’t very loud, but they’d been lying there so long that their bodies had synched up, so Miyuki noticed.

After a moment without any further movement, Miyuki relaxed again.

Then Eijun’s shoulders started shaking.

"Eijun, are you crying?" Miyuki asked, resigned.

Eijun stiffened. "No..." he said, but his voice was tight and his shoulders were still shaking.

"Oka~ay. So why are you not crying?"

"T-Tatsuya died. He d-didn’t even get to tell Rukiko how m-much he l-loved her," Eijun hiccuped, rolling over to bury his face--and sobs--in one of their pillows.

Miyuki huffed, exasperated. The movie, of course. Miyuki was going to beat Yuuki with it next time he saw him for lending it to them. "Hey, come here." Miyuki rolled onto his side and tugged Eijun over to him. He came easily enough, transferring his death grip on the pillow to a death grip on Miyuki’s shirt. Miyuki winced when Eijun snuffled into his neck, but bore it. What was a little snot, anyway?

"It’s just a movie, you know," Miyuki tried, resuming his petting from earlier. Eijun seemed to like that, calming down a bit.

"I know that, idiot. It’s still sad!" But Eijun cuddled into him even more deeply, throwing a leg over Miyuki’s like he just had to get as close as possible.

They stayed like that, tangled up in each other, for a long time, until the light from the afternoon sun faded to twilight.

It was funny: Miyuki didn’t feel like sleeping anymore, but he felt like he could happily stay that way for days. Forever, even, if it was up to him.

"Kazuya," Eijun said, moving his head back so Miyuki could see his eyes, glossy but earnest. He’d stopped crying a long time ago, but he still looked too solemn and hurt for Miyuki's liking. It was just a movie for heaven's sake! "If anything ever...I mean it’s stupid, but just in case anything ever does happen to one of us, I want you to know that I love you. A lot. I couldn’t stand if either of us died without you knowing that."

Miyuki stared, completely and totally unable to form words.

Finally, he decided words just weren’t going to cut it, and headbutted Eijun--hard--right in the forehead.

"Ow!" Eijun wailed, hands coming up to cover the quickly-forming red spot.

"Don’t say that for something so stupid!" And Miyuki was startled to find that he actually was angry. Perhaps angrier than he'd ever been with his stupid stupid STUPID boyfriend. And that was a feat, since Eijun drove him to contemplate homicide regularly. "Neither of us is going to die!"

"I just wanted to tell you how I felt! You didn’t have to hit me!"

"Hitting you in the head is the only way to knock some sense into you!"

"Fine! I take it back then!" Eijun said furiously, trying to pull away--to no avail since Miyuki was still wrapped around him like an octopus.

"You can’t! You already said it!"

"If you won't let me take it back, then why are you so mad!?"

"Because you’re using the incredibly hypothetical notion of one of us dying as a scapegoat so you don't have to take responsibility, and it’s infuriating. Say it because you mean it not because you’re worried about something so absolutely crazy!"

"I love you, you shitty idiot!" Eijun howled. "You’re the worst and I love you even when I hate you, you shitty bastard! There, is that better?"

It was amazing how quickly Miyuki went from furious to smug, even he was surprised.

"Much," he said, and dropped an impulsive kiss on the tip of Eijun’s nose.

Eijun blinked several times, clearly still angry but caught off guard by Miyuki’s sudden change in mood. "That really hurt, you know," he settled on, sulky

.

"Sorry," Miyuki said, and he really was. For good measure, he kissed Eijun’s forehead as well.

They settled down again. Before long they’d have to separate, and Miyuki would have to go back to his room, and they’d have to go to sleep alone. By mutual silent agreement they decided not to waste the time they had left.

It was an awfully long time till next Sunday, after all.

"I love you too, even though you’re an idiot and a crybaby and you make me crazy."

"Just the first part was fine," Eijun said sleepily.

OMAKE:

"Thanks for lending it to us," Miyuki said, blushing and not meeting Yuuki’s eyes. The former captain was just too knowing sometimes.

"You’re welcome," Yuuki replied seriously, taking the DVD. A beat. "Did he--"

"Yes."

"Then--"

"Yes."

"Good," Yuuki said with a sharp nod. "I told you, it’s the same way I got Jun to confess to me."

Miyuki stared. "You know, everyone always says how ‘terrible’ and ‘nasty’ I am but you are literally the most evil person I have ever met. How does no one else know?"

Yuuki shrugged, supremely unbothered. "I just hide it better, I guess."
