Chapter Text
Again with the gun shots. Taehyung thought bitterly to himself as he turned a corner sharply, his feet hitting the pavement as if he had stones strapped to them.
The original mission had been quite simple, like most of the ones he was given given that he is a rookie but a damn good one. There hadn’t been one case where he had actually fucked up bad enough that the mission could be deemed a failure. Jeon Jungkook and Min Yoongi were the ones who were the brains behind his missions, always coming up with little trinkets and such he could use to gain more information. The reasons as to why he was the ideal undercover agent was because one, his charms could lure any man or woman in and he could reach information that he needed to rid of the group. Two, he was a fabulous actor, whether it be bubbly and helpless or brooding and tough, he could pull off either of the rolls fairly well. Kim Seokjin as well, actually. He’s had the wonderful opportunity to work next to the other man on several occasions. Kim Seokjin being one of the better known undercover agents of the agency he worked for.
“Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit.” He heard Jungkook talking to himself and he could hear the keys being tapped away at furiously.
“Kid, they’re on your tail, you have to go. Now. ” Yoongi hissed into his ear.
“No shit, hyung.” He snapped back as he tumbled past a crumbling wall.
“You fucking whore!” A man shouted behind him and he couldn’t help but snicker to himself as he charged down a hallway that lead to an opening that led to the outside world. This particular mission wasn’t exactly his liking, but whatever got the files, he was meaning to do. He sped his roll and slid underneath a pole that had begun to crumple to the ground.
Now, if he was being honest, this explosion shit wouldn’t have happened if he hadn’t been caught by a guard and then he tried to seduce that man but that didn’t work and he got thrown into a room of sorts that was well equipped with cameras and they watched him for a few hours. It wasn’t until later in the day, that Yoongi had found the algorithm to shut off the cameras and unlock the door. Well, apparently “Genius” Min Yoongi didn’t see that hacking into the main algorithm that unlocked the door, would set off a bomb if any foreign devices were somehow able to get into their system. It was a sort of automatic self destruction measure and he’s gotta say, that system was smart as hell . He’d have to look into coaxing Kook to build one at the lab. (Which he would probably accept because the man loved the thought of making things that triggered other things. That being said, he absolutely hated that Jungkook got into memes and he tried to incorporate that into his daily work.)
It was the last dodge of the falling building that he was able to successfully pull out of the situation.
“Geez, you took longer than normal.” Yoongi muttered.
“Yeah well if Mr, Min “Genius” Suga had done his job correctly, i wouldn't have almost died!” Taehyung scoffed and rolled his eyes as he dialed for the swat team to come erase the damage and make it seem as if it hadn't happened. “Speaking of death, how’s Haru? Jungkook, if she comes home and dabs when i get back, you’re a dead man.”
“Daddy, is that thing that Uncle Kookie keeps doing with his arm called dabbing?” A small, high pitched called out and he sighed. He specifically Jungkook to leave Haru with his nanny who must be worried sick. He’s going to have to give the younger a beating later.
“Hey baby, how was school?” Taehyung asked, his voice softening significantly as he nodded to a swat officer who showed his badge to him to show as the chief of the team.
“It was okay. We did more of maths today and i hate maths.” Haru mumbled through the mic and then she let out a high pitched squeal and Yoongi chuckling could be heard from the earpiece. Hopefully he was putting her on his shoulders and not attempting to carry her in his arms because despite all his training, he can’t hold he long enough without dropping her.
“I know baby, I hate it too. But lucky for you, Uncle Yoongo can help you!” He exclaimed and he could fucking feel the daggers through the earpiece on him as he heard shuffling and he heard the weight of a small body being let back down onto the floor. (Min Yoongi needs more muscle training he noted to himself.)
Haru gasped loudly. “Can you help me, Uncle Yoongo?” Taehyung chuckled at the nickname and he heard Yoongi’s tight voice come through the speaker.
“Yeah… sure kid.”
“Say, ‘Thank you, Uncle Yoongo.’” Taehyung pushed and he heard Yoongi growl a little bit under his breath.
“Thank you Uncle Yoongo!” Haru exclaimed and he heard the two rollover. He knew Yoongi was smiling. He loved Haru, as snappy and grumpy as he is.
“Tae, get here soon!” Jungkook called into the mic and Taehyung nodded then realized it wasn’t a video call.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m on my way.” Taehyung replied and shut off his mic.
Taehyung walked into the big city with the buildings towering over him and the neon lights catching in the sunset. He flagged down a taxi driver for what seemed like hours and clambered into the back seats, requesting a lift to the middle of Seoul.
Haru had been one of the few things he’s kept close to himself since his wife left him with another man, aside from Yoongi and Jungkook of course. They all had a special place in his heart and he wouldn't be able to live without them. They helped Haru with so much when he was out on missions and shit that could get him killed.
Haru knew very little about his job. There was hardly days where he was forced to stay overnight, this one was a mostly all day thing at an all day bar. All Haru knew was, ‘Exploshy and run run’ (It was cute when she said it, Taehyung had always been fond of her wording.)
The cab stopped and he paid the driver the amount and stepped out of the cab, the warm wind blowing his strands of hair from his face. He stepped into gum and groaned. How the hell are you even able to litter without feeling the slightest remorse?
He wound the corner and caught just as a blonde haired man set down a little girl with long black hair and a bright mint colored backpack. Yoongi kneeled in front of her and looked up at her with a smile, playing along with whatever it was that Haru was going on about.
Taehyung drew closer and he was still going unnoticed. As he drew near enough though, he heard mentions of getting a cat.
“Maybe you can convince daddy to buy one for you?” Yoongi asked in a light tone, but he knew very goddamn well that he had a mild allergy to cats, much to his disappointment.
“Daddy’s allergic though. I don’t want him to get hurt because i want a cat.” Haru looked down with a pout.
“Hey baby,” Taehyung called and kneeled down with his arms out. Oh fuck, did he still smell like smoke?
Haru whipped around and threw herself at Taehyung and cuddled into his neck.
“I missed you!”
“I missed you, too, baby.” Taehyung cooed and stroked her hair. Taehyung picked her up with a squeal and smiled. “Let’s get you home, yeah?” Taehyung turned around to see Yoongi getting up.
“Thank you for looking after her today.” Taehyung said with a small smile and Yoongi shrugged.
“Bye, Uncle Yoongi!” Haru shouted and Yoongi waved.
“Bye, kid.” He waved again and went back into the building and they turned down the street.
The scents of walking down the steep hill consisted of food and smoke. His mouth watered, but he had dinner waiting at home. And he can’t afford Haru getting sick because of too much take out (if that was possible?) But the smell of grilled chicken smelt so good and he really wanted some but he had made noodles and vegetables their dinner and-
“Hey!”
Taehyung bumped into a man with dark red hair and a case of flowers tumbled onto the floor.
“Shit, sorry.” He leaned down to help.
“Daddy, you cursed!” Haru gaped.
“Sorry, baby. It won’t happen again.” He smiled widely and turned back to help the man pick up the flowers. “I’m so, so sorry.” The man didn’t answer because Haru went down and picked up a flower that fell farther than the others. She held it out to him and he looked up at her, the shadows making it too dark for him to make out any facial features.
“Thank you.” He took the flower and looked at it in his hands before standing up and putting the flower behind her ear. Taehyung watched as Haru’s eyes glowed with warmth. Taehyung arranged the flower in the wooden crate nicely and stood up with the crate.
“Is this your daughter?” The man inquired, smiling as Haru blushed under the gaze of the man.
“Yes. Oh, and here.” Taehyung said and looked to the side bashfully. “I’m sorry for dropping these.” He looked up and the man was staring at him, finally the lighting giving him enough to make out his face. There was not much to say other than he was outright cute. “Oh, jesus, you’re cute.” He muttered and immediately shut his mouth.
“Thanks? I guess? Thank you for helping. You’re daughter is quite the charmer.” He leaned down and poked her cheek. Haru giggled and smiled at the man.
“Haru, what do you say?” Taehyung asked, handing the crate to the cute man.
“Thank you!” she said, beaming from the compliment. The man let out a hearty laugh that made Taehyung’s heart do flips. It was so coated with sugar and sweetness-
“Well, see you around?” The man said, adjusting the box and holding out one hand and Taehyung grabbed it to shake it. He smiled and the other man smiled back. He let go a few seconds after looking at the man’s face.
“C’mon Haru. I’m making dinner tonight!” Taehyung tried to hype her but she only groaned.
“Daddy, can we just get chicken? I don’t want noodles!” She pouted and Taehyung sighed.
“Haru, baby, we’ve had take out for the past three days. You’ll get sick.” Taehyung reasoned and Haru scuffed her shoes on the sidewalk.
“Okay…”
“Hey, wait! I actually have some chicken my friend made the other night! It’s really good!” The man spoke up and Taehyung leaped because he thought he had already left.
“Oh, you don’t have to! I already messed up your flowers and took your time!” Taehyung said pleadingly. He was raised it was rude to accept food from people freely. It sounds harsh but he felt rude whenever he did.
“No, no it’s fine. I don’t mind! He made a ton of it and, well, it’s a lot. Wait here.” The man brought the crate in the shop and Taehyung looked up at the sign that was slightly rusted,
Jung Flortistery.
Huh.
The man came back out a few minutes later with a big container that smelt like heaven.
“Here you go!” The man said with a smile that shaped into a heart. Holy shit.
“Thank you so much.” Taehyung said, accepting the container of chicken.
“No problem! Even though you did almost mess up my flower delivery.” The man shrugged.
“Can i get your name?” Taehyung asked.
“Jung Hoseok.”
“Jung Hoseok.”He repeated the name quietly to himself before looking back up at Hoseok. “Kim Taehyung. Thank you! See you around Hoseok!” He said as he turned to catch Haru from wandering to far ahead.
-
“Daddy, is it okay for a man to like another man?” Haru asked as he tucked her into bed. He froze and sat on the edge of her bed.
“Love is love, baby. Of course, it is.” He said with a small smile.
“But… but isn’t it weird?” Haru asked, quirking an eyebrow.
“No, why would you think that?” Taehyung asked, furrowing his eyebrows.
“Well, i saw two boys kissing coming home and people were staring at them funny.” Haru pouted in confusion.
“Some people don’t like it, but it is okay.” He said with a smile and kissed her forehead as he stood up. “Get some sleep, baby, okay?”
“...Okay. Goodnight Daddy!” Haru said tiredly with a yawn. He walked out of the room and shut the lights off around the house before making his way to his own room.
One thing remained on his mind that night and it was Jung Hoseok.
