Work Text:

Hundreds of people rushed to get inside, the bitter cold driving away all common sense. Hoseok shoved through the crowd, frantic with worry after losing Taehyung in the crowd once already. They both let out shuddered gasps when the heated air from the gym engulfed their bodies, shoulders going slack. Hoseok gripped Taehyung's hand even tighter as he stormed past the people lounging around, glancing behind his shoulder to make sure he didn't lose him again. He focused on finding an empty section of the bleachers to save for everyone else, being the only ones who were able to arrive before the game started.

Hoseok let out a shout when he saw that the first row of bleachers were completely empty, with the just right amount of length to fit the other four. He dragged Taehyung behind him as he ran, full speed, toward the seats. He slid up next to the wall and pulled Taehyung down beside him, slinging his arm around his shoulders.

"Man," Hoseok sighed, "I never thought that the weather would be this cold so early in the year."

"Speak for yourself," Taehyung grumbled, scooting in closer to him. "You're the one who has an actual coat. I only have this stupid jacket Jungkook-ah gave me."

Hoseok chuckled and squeezed his shoulder, glancing down at the flimsy jacket; it was worn down from all the years Jungkook had kept it for himself, and it looked as though it wouldn't even keep a person warm in a slight breeze.

"I'll trade you if you're really that cold," Hoseok offered, already flinging off one sleeve of his coat.

Taehyung reached over him and pulled it back over his shoulder, mumbling a "I don't want you catching a cold". Hoseok smiled down at him and pinched his cheek, making kissy faces at him.

"Ah, hyung!" Taehyung shouted, pulling away from his hold.

"My dongsaeng is so sweet!" Hoseok cooed, leaning on top of him and reaching up to his cheeks, pinching them once again.

Hoseok let out a shriek of delight before pulling away from him, laughing to himself. Taehyung sat back up and huffed, arms folded across his stomach. They both watched as Yoongi practiced with his team before the game started, letting out cheers whenever he made a basket. He would send them annoyed looks, silently telling them to be quiet and to not bother the other people who were there. Hoseok's response was to yell a little louder than the last time, and Taehyung would dance on the sidelines, a wide grin on both of their faces.

Eventually, they were asked to settle down before they were kicked out. Embarrassed, they huddled up in their corner and quietly waited for everyone else to arrive. To pass the time, they would make bets on who would arrive first.

"It's Seokjinnie-hyung who's gonna be first, that's for sure," Hoseok commented, confident in his assumption. "He's always so organized and prepared, I would be surprised if he didn't arrive during the first half of the game."

"Well, yeah. That's obvious," Taehyung scoffed, rolling his eyes. "But, I'm gonna say that it's either Jungkookie or Namjoon-hyung who's gonna be late."

Hoseok raised an eyebrow. "Jungkook-ah? Why him?"

Taehyung grinned. "We stayed up until four in the morning playing Overwatch--I highly doubt he'll have the energy to drive himself here."

Hoseok stared at him, awestruck. Before he could comment on how unhealthy their lifestyles were, they hear a familiar shout come from the entrance. Hoseok stood up and peered over the heads of various people, eyes widening when he saw that the first person to come was Jimin. He made quick eye contact with Hoseok, and instantly smiled at him, pushing his way through the crowd.

Hoseok turned back toward Taehyung, hands on his hip. "Well," Hoseok began, moving his hips in a circular motion, "looks like I'm wrong--it's Jiminnie."

Taehyung chuckled and slowly stood up, stretching out his body so that he could see over the crowd. "Ah, there he is," Taehyung mumbled, pointing over to a nearby trashcan.

Hoseok followed where his finger was pointed, and bursted out laughing when he saw Jimin being pushed up against a trash can, a clear look of disgust and discomfort on his face. They watched as Jimin, eventually, freed himself and approached them, flushed and out of breath.

"It's freezing out there!" he exclaimed, rubbing his hands together, skin flushed red. "God, you would think people would move away from the entrance and into the gym, right?"

Hoseok chuckled and pulled him over to Taehyung, pushing him down onto the bleacher with a smile. They caught Jimin up on their bets, egging him on to join them.

"I'm not sure..." Jimin mumbled, unzipping his coat. "I know that Kookie wasn't even dressed when I left the dorm, so he's definitely gonna be last." He chuckled. "Well, that is if Seokjin-hyung didn't force him to hurry up."

"Hoseokie-hyung already lost his part of the bet," Taehyung commented, nudging Hoseok's arm. "So, he already owes us, what? Ten-thousand won?"

Hoseok scoffed, hand clutching his shirt in a dramatic manner. "You seriously think that I can afford handing out won like that?"

They continued to tease him, saying that "you shouldn't have started something you can't even pay off" or "it's your fault for being a lousy guesser". Hoseok simply tried to block their insults by laying on top of them, screeching all the while.

In the midst of it all, Seokjin and Namjoon finally arrived with an exhausted Jungkook in tow. They welcomed them and scooted over, trying to create enough space for them all. But, it turned out that Hoseok judgment on how many people could fit on the bleacher was clearly wrong; they ended up packed like sardines. At one point, Yoongi finally looked their way and almost missed a shot from laughing so hard.

"Jimin-ah," Taehyung whined, "I can't breathe. Scoot over."

"Hey!" Seokjin shouted, clinging onto the edge of the bleacher. "If you guys move over this way anymore, I'll fall off!"

"Alright, alright!" Hoseok sighed, hands moving to Taehyung's waist. "TaeTae, c'mon. Sit on my lap."

Taehyung complied and lifted his legs over Hoseok's, a sigh of relief escaping everyone the minute Taehyung fully sat down onto his lap. Hoseok let his arms rest around Taehyung's waist, and peered out from behind his back, watching the game with hawk eyes. From here, Hoseok could hear Taehyung quietly commenting on what was going on in the game; cheering for Yoongi and the rest of his team, groaning when the other team scored a point, and so on and so forth.

Another thing Hoseok noticed was how much Taehyung squirmed when he was excited. The kid would always shimmy in Hoseok's lap whenever someone tried to score a point, whether it be by the opposing team or Yoongi's, and would always be on the verge of standing up whenever someone managed to score, or if they just got blocked. Hoseok chuckled out how excitable he was, patting his stomach every so often. He continued to watch the game and Taehyung's reactions, a wide smile on his face.

As time passed, his back began to cramp from sitting forward for too long. Groaning, he leaned back against the bleacher behind him, apologizing to whoever he accidently bumped his head against, and stretched his arms above his head. Lowering his arms, Hoseok gazed at the back of Taehyung's neck. A slight frown formed on his face when he realized that he wouldn't be able to get a clear view of the game without having to lean over.

Exasperated sigh escaping his lips, Hoseok leaned back and watched the back of Taehyung's neck, a frown deepening as time passed. He attempted to lean over again, but his back was still cramped and caused him to just lean back against the wall in slight pain. Staring at the back of Taehyung's neck, again, Hoseok studied the features of the backside of his head; he noticed a couple of moles peaking out from underneath the collar of his jacket, just barely visible in Hoseok's shadow, the recent hair-cut having gotten rid of the neck hair that was growing there, how he had gotten paler from not going outside much due to the cold weather.

Hoseok was momentarily surprised by his observant skills, bewildered that he would notice something like this. Well, I am just staring at the back of his neck, he thought, shrugging his shoulders. It's not like I can't not notice it.

He jolted when Taehyung's hand suddenly reached up to the back of his neck, itching at it for a moment, before quickly pulling it away to cup his hands around his mouth and cheer. Hoseok blinked for a moment and watched as the skin slowly became an irritated red, the area scratched blotchy and raw. Impulsively, he leaned forward and pressed his lips against the back of Taehyung's neck, the heated skin foreign to Hoseok. He felt Taehyung jump in his lap, quickly whirling around and staring at him with wide eyes.

"Hyung?!" he exclaimed, blood rushing to his cheeks.

Hoseok froze, in disbelief at what he just did. "I-I'm so sorry," he breathed, mortified by his own actions, slowly leaning away from Taehyung. "I just-I just saw you scratch your neck, and it-it looked red, and I just want-wanted to kiss it to make it feel better?"

Taehyung stared at him with a look that could translate to "what the fuck". A moment of silence passed between the two, the exchange going unnoticed by the others. Hoseok teared his gaze away from Taehyung's and stared down at his hands, which were intertwined tightly together, the heat of shame burning throughout his entire body.

"Hyung," Taehyung muttered, placing his hand on the side of Hoseok's leg. "If it makes you feel any better, in the one second that passed before I freaked, it actually felt nice."

Hoseok slowly lifted his head to face Taehyung, but found that he had already turned back around, cheering yet again. But Hoseok also noticed how his ears were a shade darker than the last time he glanced at them. He smiled gently and leaned forward once more, eyes flickering between Taehyung's neck and Jimin, anxiety gnawing at his stomach over the thought that he could easily catch them. Flicking his tongue out to moisten his dry lips, simultaneously licking Taehyung's neck, a shiver visibly running through his body, Hoseok leaned in closer and pressed his lips against the skin.

He could hear a soft gasp come from Taehyung and feel his body lean back into his. A smile worked its way up to his face as he continued to pepper his neck with gentle pecks, slight giggles escaping the two; Taehyung would keep squirming and try to lean back further into Hoseok whenever he pulled away, Hoseok eventually drawing out a small whine from the other from all the teasing.

They both froze when the whistle was blown, both too immersed in their own world to bother remembering the fact that they were supposed to be cheering for their friend. Taehyung hurriedly pulled away from Hoseok's chest, body tense with embarrassment. Hoseok chuckled at his timid act, wrapping his arms around his waist again and pulling him back against him. Taehyung let out a surprised gasp and smiled shyly up at Hoseok's bright smile. He pulled himself back up, glancing back at Hoseok one last time before leaning his head down, giving access to his neck. Hoseok graciously took up his offer and leaned forward, lips hastily meeting his neck.

It started, once again, with nothing but gentle pecks. But soon enough, Hoseok accidentally bit down on the skin in his excitement. Taehyung literally jumped in his lap, hand reaching up to the back of his neck as he gazed at Hoseok, flustered.

"Hyung," he panted, gulping when he heard how whiney he sounded. "Why'd you bite me?"

Hoseok stared back at him, mouth agape, as he silently wondered why he did all the things that he did tonight; going to the basketball game even though it was freezing cold and Yoongi was sure to win, making a stupid bet with Taehyung even though they were both broke, and most importantly, kissing the back of Taehyung's neck.

His lips curved into a fond smile as he softly said, "Because it's you, TaeTae."

Taehyung tensed at that, eyes wide with--surprise, fear, panic? "I--hyung," he stammered, hands clutching the front of his shirt, "do you really mean that?"

Hoseok tilted his head, puzzled by Taehyung's anxious behavior. "Yes," he murmured slowly, eyes shifted with caution. "Is that...wrong?"

Relief washed over Taehyung's features as he slowly shook his head, turning back toward the court. "No, not at all, hyung."

Hoseok watched the back of Taehyung's head warily, waiting for some sort of signal of what to do. It came when Taehyung nudged his thigh, peeking back at him with a shy look. Hoseok leaned forward and met Taehyung's neck with his lips, quickly opening them to mouth at the area he bit before. It escalated to licking and biting, hickies littering the back of his neck.

He's moments away from moving onto the side of his neck, when the whistle is blown a second time and the game was over. For a second, they sat there, shell-shocked both at how they did absolutely nothing in terms of cheering on for their friend, but also how fast the time flew by. Hoseok slowly separated himself from Taehyung, bouncing his legs so that he would get him to stand up. Taehyung numbly followed his command, face flushed and body relaxed. He turned to Hoseok, gulping thickly before nodding dumbly and following after the others, who were sprinting towards Yoongi with open arms.

Hoseok stared at the quickly disappearing figure of Taehyung, eyelids hooded. He's just as quickly snapped out of his trance when the people behind him accidentally hit him in the back of the head with their bag. They apologized and he reassured them that it wasn't a big deal, already striding over to the center of the court.

Chest puffed out, he approached everyone else with a wide smile, a shriek promptly came after and a tackle aimed toward Yoongi. Everyone else joined in on the dog-pile; Yoongi on the bottom as he shouted for everyone to get off of him before he called the security, Hoseok on top of Yoongi as he tried his hardest to breathe underneath the weight on top of him, Jimin next as he snuggled his head into Hoseok's back, Seokjin as he let his body fall limp, Jungkook as he attempted to not tumble off, Namjoon as he tried to stand back up, but Taehyung blocked his way as he bounced on top of everyone.

By the time Taehyung decided that they had suffered enough, Yoongi was nearly passed out and Hoseok had to twist his back a couple of times for it to feel right. They all told Yoongi "congratulations" and began to head back to the entrance, a warm atmosphere surrounding them as they trudged behind the quickly dispersing crowd.

Approaching their separate vehicles, they all updated each other on where the meet-up place was for the celebratory dinner, Yoongi deciding to play it safe and ride with Seokjin and the others. Hoseok made sure to check up on Jungkook ("You're not too tired, are you? Do you need to skip out tonight?") before walking a few steps ahead of Taehyung.

Just as he walked away, he heard Yoongi ask, "What's that on the back of your neck, Taehyung-ah?"

Hoseok couldn't help but burst out laughing when Taehyung let out a yelp of horror.
