Work Text:

Bakugou didn't know when he'd become so good at reading Todoroki. He knew how to elicit the loudest of moans from him with just a flick of his tongue, and he knew how to cook his favourite meals, half of which were prepared cold.

But the fact that he knew how to pick up on hidden cues, Bakugou realised, was what made his insides fill with warmth.

Like now, as they lied tangled together on the sofa, Todoroki's head on his lap. Todoroki had come home with a slight furrow on his brow, a detail so small that other people would find it imperceptible, but Bakugou knew that this meant that he'd had a bad day at work. On days like this, Todoroki craved soft touches and his hair played with.

Bakugou could feel the tension ease out of his body as he toyed with the soft strands, alternating between lightly scratching his scalp and massaging his temples.

Todoroki hummed contentedly. He sat up suddenly, moving to place a soft kiss on Bakugou's lips before getting up.

"I'm gonna make dinner. What would you like to eat?"

He knew Todoroki only knew how to make the most basic of meals, like soup and grilled cheese sandwiches, but since he wasn't that hungry in the first place, he merely said, "Whatever you feel like."

Todoroki nodded and made way into the kitchen.

Bakugou closed his eyes for a brief moment. He'd had a stressful day at work too, despite having had a good night's sleep. The sex the previous night had been rough and hot, filled with so much passion his ass still felt sore hours later. Sex like that always guaranteed good sleep.

He could hear Todoroki opening drawers and cupboards in the kitchen, something sizzling on the stove. With the TV on low volume, his eyes slipped closed, and Bakugou fell asleep.

*

He woke up to the sensation of light kisses on his brow and fingers that were gently tracing the contours of his face.

Bakugou gave a quiet sigh.

He loved it when Todoroki was feeling affectionate because it never failed to remind him just how happy their relationship made him and how stupidly in love he was with this beautiful man.

His, Bakugou smiled. I'm his, and he's mine.

"What are you smiling about?" Todoroki asked softly, his lips making their way to Bakugou's neck.

Bakugou shivered. "Wouldn't you like to know?"

"Hmm," Todoroki said, his breath hot as it ghosted over Bakugou's skin. "Dinner's ready."

He gave him one final kiss on his mouth—one that made his lips tingle even after all these years. It was amazing how Todoroki could make him feel like he'd just fallen in love with him.

He stretched, his joints making satisfying popping sounds and made his way to the dinner table.

Bakugou could feel his breath catch because Todoroki was a true romantic— Bakugou knew this, of course, like he knew all the ways to make him come undone, eyes lidded, in the throes of pleasure—but having it reaffirmed like this only made something soft swell inside his chest.

There, on the wooden table that they'd bought together when they'd first moved in, was a dinner for two, decorated with a few rose petals and candles, giving the whole room a lovely ambiance. A bottle of his favourite white wine was on the table, along with two glasses, and the food...

Bakugou stared in disbelief. When the fuck had Todoroki learned how to cook Bakugou's favourite pasta dish?

The two plates of steaming creamy garlic spaghetti, with scallops and bacon, looked absolutely delicious.

Bakugou could feel his eyes start to water, and he hurriedly turned around to compose himself, because the sight of food shouldn't make him this emotional, dammit.

Todoroki gave a quiet cough, and Bakugou turned around. Todoroki's right hand was playing with the frayed ends of his sweater, and despite the calm expression he wore, Bakugou knew that he was nervous.

In two quick strides, he reached Todoroki and enveloped him in a tight hug.

"I fucking love it," he whispered against Todoroki's neck, his voice choked with the tears that he'd tried to suppress, "I'm so fucking impressed."

Todoroki relaxed against him and hugged him back. "I'm glad."

Bakugou pulled out of his arms to look at Todoroki's face, his heart beating fast at the look of pure love and affection in his eyes.

I love you. Todoroki's eyes were saying. I love you so much.

Bakugou placed his hand on Todoroki's cheek, smiling when he felt another hand atop his own.

"I love you, Katsuki." Todoroki said aloud, and Bakugou felt his knees growing weak, his heart stuttering, because he hadn't expected that.

"I love you too."

I can't believe I'm this lucky, Bakugou thought to himself, to be loved by someone like Todoroki.

Todoroki pulled him into a kiss so passionate it made him lose his train of thought, and Bakugou sighed in happiness.

Yes, this is how it's meant to be.
