Summary
After being thawed out by S.H.I.E.L.D. in 2011, Steve Rogers finds himself alone in a world he doesn’t recognize, given nothing but a phone, a plastic card, and a few files. Homeless and disoriented, he seeks out old allies, finding Jim Morita, who offers him a safe place to stay and guidance in navigating the 21st century.
Steve’s first days are a mix of confusion and exploration: he runs through New York City to reconnect with his own body and instincts, buys a laptop, phone, clothes, and smokes, and experiments with edibles, which leave him tipsy and impulsive. One night, still navigating this new world, he ventures to a bar, meets a young woman, and allows himself to experience fun, laughter, and connection—reminding him that life can exist outside missions and battles.
The following morning, alone and reflective, Steve returns to Jim’s apartment, showers, and changes, grounding himself before taking the next step: house hunting. Together, Steve and Jim explore listings, imagining a future in a home of his own, signaling the start of Steve’s attempt to reclaim a life for himself—a life untethered from S.H.I.E.L.D., the war, and the past.
