Work Text:

It’s Valentine’s Day and everybody is scrambling trying to figure out if they really are going to give their crush that note or chocolate box. People are celebrating with partners on dates and rushing to get flowers and maybe some chocolate.

Ochako was watching idly by as people did this. She wasn’t that concerned about Valentine’s Day outside of giving her friends and she’s fine with that. She gives Izuku, Shouto, and Tenya theirs with a lot of loud yelling in gratitude. Izuku looked like he would’ve passed out from the pure excitement that he got something if she’s honest. She didn’t see Tsuyu so her’s was still in Ochako’s bag.

She had thought of giving it with a small note about her crush on Tsuyu but thought against it. There is a very slim chance that they would date as it’s hard to think that Tsuyu isn’t straight. Sure, they share clothes and like to sit together, closer than normal, but that was what a lot of the girls in the class did anyways. It’s normal for girls to be more affectionate.

Tsuyu is gone until lunch and even then, they’re busy with hero classes. They have to do a search and rescue mission inside USJ and it takes up most of their time. They stumble back, exhausted to class and change and it’s almost an afterthought that Tsuyu still hadn’t gotten her chocolates from Ochako.

Ochako feels it like a sudden slap in the face when she realizes that Tsuyu didn’t have her chocolates. She hurriedly searches the crowd for her but she’s gone, already walking back to the dorms.

“She seemed to be rather upset about something!” Tenya says.

“Maybe she doesn’t like Valentine’s?” Izuku offers.

Ochako frowns, picking at her hair. “I don’t know, I’m gonna go find her. I’ll see you guys later!”

The trio waves her off and she’s running a little faster than normal through the crowd, being a little more forceful in her push to get through.

It takes her no time at all to get back to the dorms. She’s one of the first ones back, Shouji in the kitchen. He waves and she smiles as she hurries past. Tsuyu’s room was the only thing in the site because if she was upset Ochako wants to know and help.

She stops, though, in her mad dash to find Tsuyu and pulls out her phone. She texts Tsuyu and asks where she is and if she’s okay. There would be no use barging in and hurting Tsuyu more by prying.

Tsuyu answers with simple, ‘No, I’m nervous about something.’

‘Why’re nervous?’ Ochako sends back. She’s standing in the hall, tapping on foot nervously on the ground as she stares at her phone, begging for a quick answer.

There’s a radio silence. Ochako stands for a few minutes, waiting before she finally sends, ‘I’m coming to your room and sitting with you at least.’

The door’s already cracked for her and she slips in, knocking on the door as she opens it. Tsuyu’s hair is messier and she looks almost like she was half asleep. Ochako feels her chest ache with affection as she drops her backpack by the door.

“Hey, Tsu! I missed you today in class, where were you?” Ochako says easily, dropping onto the bed next to Tsuyu. “We did a few new things in English so I can help you with that if you can’t pick it up.”

“Thanks. I felt bad so I ask to sit out for the morning since we would be doing rescue training and I didn’t want to miss that. Recovery Girl let me lay down in her office for a couple hours.”

“Oh, boo! That stinks. But!” Ochako darted over to where her bag was, pulling out the small pink box with a green bow. “I have chocolates for you! Since you were gone I couldn’t give it to you but here you go.”

Tsuyu took the small box from Ochako, twisting the end of it gently. Ochako plops back down on the bed, smiling brightly. Tsuyu looks up and it looks like she wants to say something but she’s just staring. Ochako looks curiously down but waits, swinging her legs a little.

And they’re kissing with Tsuyu’s hands gripping Ochako’s face so, so gently and they’re warm and a little calloused from training. Her lips are soft and they feel nice against Ochako’s and it’s such a relaxing feeling that it almost feels like home for the two to be kissing.

Ochako pulls back in shock and she just looks off to the side, processing what just happened. It makes her face flame and she hides her head in her hands, leaning against Tsuyu’s shoulder.

“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted that,” Ochako mutters into her hands and Tsuyu laughs. They’re both relieved and so happy.

Ochako looks up and leans in, pressing her lips softly against Tsuyu’s. She balances her hands on either side of Tsuyu and when they break away, they’re so close and Ochako can’t help but feel elated. For once, things were good and it was so nice to be there together.
