"I missed you."

Summary:

[Follow-up to the previous part.]
Hoseok finally comes back home from Japan.

Notes:

Sometimes, it's really hard to say those three little words: I love you. So we tip-toe around it, we show our love through gestures, other phrases...
Basically, this is a series of one shots on how the boys care about each other. And we all know how hard it is for boys to actually talk about their feelings. So, cue angst, fluff and love. Lots of love.
Notice: some of these might be romantic relationships, others more platonic. I guess it will depend on the prompt and my inspiration~

Work Text:

Yoongi had been working on a new song in his studio when he received the text. Hoseok had arrived safely at the airport and was on his way home. He saved all the progress he had made and got out of his studio. Hoseok was back and he felt like he could breathe again. He loved his other members, of course, and he appreciated how Seokjin tried to take care of him, even going out of his way to cook for him. But Hoseok... Hoseok was different. He felt like the world around him lost some of its colors whenever Hoseok wasn't next to him. As if dark clouds surrounded him and made him feel hopeless. Literally.

Without realising it, he had sat on the bench next to the front door, his leg bouncing up and down nervously. He couldn't tear his eyes apart from the door, hoping to see it open any time and reveal Hoseok. Sweet, cheerful, kind Hoseok. His Hoseok.

“Ya, what are you doing?” came a voice from behind him.

He turned his head to see Seokjin giving him a judging look. “Nothing.” He shrugged his shoulders, biting down on his lip. He really hoped Seokjin wouldn't be able to read right through him like always.

“Are you waiting for Hoseok?”

Yoongi had to resist the urge to hit his head against the wall. Of course Seokjin would read right through him. Of fucking course. He cleared his voice, looking down at his bare feet to not look Seokjin in the eyes. “So?”

“Nothing, just wanted to let you know I'll be out grocery shopping.” he announced, his voice soft.

“Okay.” He glanced up to his hyung and smiled.

Seokjin smiled back, small crinkles appearing at the corners of his eyes. “I'm sure he missed you as much as you missed him.” he whispered, winking before patting his head twice.

Yoongi just scoffed, feeling his face heat up with a blush.

“See you later.”

“Later, hyung.”

Seokjin smiled at him one last time before putting on his shoes and leaving, the door closing behind him again with a click.

Yoongi stared at it for a while, picking up his bad habit of biting his thumb nail while he waited nervously. What if Seokjin was wrong and Hoseok hadn't missed him as badly as he had missed Hoseok? What if he had met more interesting people? What if he had had more fun with just Jimin when they had gone out together? When Jimin came back, he went on for hours about their trips in Japan and how much fun they had together. He sighed deeply, worry slowly eating him out.

He was about to get up and get some water for his dry throat when he heard movement from outside the door. He stood up anyway, facing the door and waiting for it to open.

When it finally did, it felt like a ray of sunshine hit him right after a long storm. Until he took a good look at Hoseok's face. He looked completely exhausted.

“Hey.” whispered Yoongi, attempting a small smile and waving his hand awkwardly.

Hoseok dropped his suitcase and all but jumped at Yoongi. He threw his arms around Yoongi's neck and held him in a bone-crushing hug. He breathed out a soft “Hyung.” while burying his face in Yoongi's neck.

It took him a second to process what was happening, but then he hugged Hoseok back, holding him tightly. He rubbed his back in what he hoped was a comforting way. He only pulled away a little when he felt Hoseok sniffling and tears wet the skin of his neck. “Hey, hey, what's wrong?”

Hoseok didn't seem too happy to let go, just yet, so Yoongi held his face, his thumbs gently wiping the tears from his cheeks. His eyes were puffy and tired and he looked paler than usual. He hiccuped a few times before he was able to actually speak.

“Just... I missed you, hyung.” He sobbed out, burying his face in Yoongi's neck again.

“It hasn't been that long...” he tried to dismiss but who was he trying to fool? “Fuck. I missed you so much, too, Seokie.” he sighed, holding him tighter and enjoying how it felt to have him back in his arms.

“Sorry for being this emotional...” whispered Hoseok after a moment, leaning away a little so he could look Yoongi in the eyes. “It's just that I'm so used to be with you and the others all the time that whenever I'm on my own I just feel so scared, lost and lonely...”

“It's okay.” He smiled reassuringly at him, brushing Hoseok's hair from his forehead so he could lean his own against it. He nuzzled their noses together, a gesture he had discovered Hoseok adored since it always made him smile brightly. As if on cue, Hoseok's lips turned up into a soft smile, his cheeks puffing up with it. “Wanna go take a nap? You look exhausted.”

Hoseok scrunched his nose up, shaking his head. “I need a shower first. I probably smell very badly.”

“You smell like home to me.”

They both stood there quietly, the sentence echoing in their heads. Yoongi wanted to slap his own face and then run away. Since when had he become such a cheesy sap?

Hoseok's cheeks turned a bright pink as his eyes shut closed. He rested his forehead on Yoongi's shoulder and giggled softly. “What happened to tsundere Min Yoongi?”

“Jung Hoseok. That's what happened.” It was as if his heart was replying instead of his brain. Damn, he was so fucking whipped.

Hoseok laughed louder, leaning away and finally letting go of him. “I really missed you.”

“Come on, I'll give you a massage in the shower and then we can go nap together.” he proposed, taking Hoseok's hand and interlocking their fingers. He tugged at his hand and guided him towards the bathroom, Hoseok following without hesitation.

“Fuck!” cursed Seokjin, almost dropping the groceries he had just bought as he tripped over the luggage right in front of the door. He glared at said luggage and then looked around to find its owner. Who was nowhere to be seen. “Hoseok-ah! Yoongi-ya!” he called out loudly. Neither of them replied. He sighed heavily, toeing off his shoes and going to the kitchen, putting the groceries on the table. He went back to the entrance hall and took Hoseok's suitcase and was planning on dragging it to Hoseok's room. But when he reached his own room, he stopped to put down his wallet. He opened the door and then froze on the spot. For the first time in days, Yoongi was sleeping soundly in his bed, cuddled against Hoseok's back. They both looked at peace and happy. He didn't have the heart to wake them up, let alone be mad at Hoseok for leaving his suitcase in front of the door. He smiled to himself, picking up the blanket that had fallen to the ground and covering them.

He put down his wallet as he had intended to and then left Hoseok's suitcase there as well. No need to drag it around some more, risking to make too much noise and wake them up. He decided to go back to the kitchen to sort out the groceries and put them away. He had been planning on cooking for everyone that night, since Namjoon was also supposed to come back from his parents' house.

He was almost done with the groceries when he heard the front door open and the three youngest's loud giggles fill the house. They came directly to the kitchen, as if sensing someone was already there.

“Hyung!” greeted Jimin, a big grin on his face.

“Hey, kids.” He smirked, taking out the snacks he had bought for them earlier. He threw the packages at them and the kids all caught them automatically, used to it by then.

“For us?” asked Jeongguk, his eyes widening.

“Who else would they be for??” Seokjin laughed at their surprised expressions. “Happy new year!”

“Hyung, thank you.” they all replied at the same time, bowing their heads.

“It's just some snacks...”

Jimin grinned widely before attacking him with a tight hug, immediately followed by the other two.

“Such an old, caring hyung.” teased Jeongguk.

“Ya!” Seokjin smacked his arm, freeing himself from their grip. He couldn't hide his smile, though.

They let him go, opening the snacks and starting to eat. Taehyung hopped up onto the countertop, kicking his feet like a little kid. “What are you up to, hyung?” he asked, a few crumbs of potato chips escaping his mouth.

“I was planning on cooking for all of us tonight.” he replied, finishing putting away the groceries.

“Really??”

“Yep.” He turned to face them, stepping closer to Taehyung and resting his hand on his thigh, patting it softly. “We'll be super busy this year and I don't know if I'll be able to cook for you again.”

“Can I help you?” asked Jeongguk.

“Of course.” He smiled at the maknae, always so eager to help.

“Can I help too?” asked Taehyung, a lop-sided grin on his face.

“Of course not.” deadpanned Seokjin, smacking his thigh.

Taehyung laughed loudly. He looked happy and relaxed. Just like the other two youngest. Which made Seokjin happy as well.

“Wait!” exclaimed Jimin suddenly. He looked around the room, his brow furrowing. “I thought Hoseok hyung would be back by now. Where is he??”

“Yoongi's room.” replied Seokjin.

The three boys cheered happily, Taehyung jumping down the counter-top and following the other two out of the kitchen.

“Wait!!” called Seokjin after them. They stopped, looking back confused at him. “They're both sleeping. Like, actually sleeping.”

“Oh.”

“Let's give them some more time.”

“But I want to say hi to Hoseokie hyung and tell him I missed him...” whined Jimin, pouting his lips.

“I'm pretty sure he knows, but you can tell him once he wakes up, okay?” he said, patting Jimin's head. “Besides, do you really want to risk waking up Yoongi?”

Jimin's face fell a little as he considered it. “Okay, you're right.” he admitted.

“Wait, are they cuddling again?” asked Taehyung with a playful smirk.

“Yep.”

“Maybe we can try and take some pictures.” he proposed, clapping his hands.

“If they catch you and try to murder you, don't ask for my help.” laughed Seokjin, turning on his heels and going back to the kitchen.

“No, I mean, for real.” went on Taehyung. “Not to use it to blackmail them, but I've always wanted to take an artistic picture of what true love looks like~”

“I'm in.”

“Let's go.”

Seokjin just rolled his eyes at them. There was still a big chance Yoongi would murder them. But, deep down, he hoped the maknaes would succeed because it would be a beautiful picture for sure.
