Work Text:
Yoongi had waited all day long for the right moment. It was promotion time and they had a pretty busy schedule. Which also meant all seven of them were together 24/7. And all he wanted was a little time alone with Hoseok. That moment only arrived when Hoseok's birthday had already passed by a few hours, but he thought he was still in time. They had just come home from work and the others had called dibs on the shower, leaving him and Hoseok as the last ones. Yoongi smiled to himself, thinking his moment had finally arrived. When everyone else was done showering, he took Hoseok's hand and lead him to the bathroom. Hoseok looked confused at first. It wasn't the first time that they had showered together to save time and water, but the determination on Yoongi's face was probably confusing, to say the least.
Yoongi locked the bathroom door behind them and let go of Hoseok's hand. He knelt down to open a cabinet and rummage through it.
“Hyung?” called Hoseok, crouching down next to him, even more confused. “What are you doing?”
Yoongi's fingers finally came in contact with the small package he had hidden among the clean towels, knowing how none of the members would accidentally come across it. He grabbed it, but still didn't take it out, turning a little to face Hoseok instead. “Um, I...” He suddenly realised how close they were to each other. Hoseok's face was literally only centimeters apart from his. And he was giving him a present. For the first time. He felt his cheeks heat up with a blush. He cleared his throat, glancing down to the ground and finally retrieving the package from the cabinet. He held it out to Hoseok, whose eyes widened in surprise. “I've got something for you.”
“Hyung... what...??”
“For your birthday.” he added, pushing the package into Hoseok's hands.
The younger boy accepted the gift, examining it with wide eyes and careful fingers. “Did you wrap it up yourself?” he asked in a whisper. He looked up at Yoongi and his lips curled into a big smile, cute dimples appearing on his cheeks.
Yoongi blushed deeply, his ears feeling hot. “Yeah, I'm sorry if it sucks...”
“It's adorable.” replied Hoseok, shaking his head and looking back down at the package in his hands. “But, hyung, you didn't have to.”
“I know.” Yoongi sat down on the floor, his knees starting to hurt from the previous position. “But I wanted to.” he said proudly, a smile tugging at his lips as he watched Hoseok blush as well. “Besides, it's something stupid and I don't even know if you'll like it and maybe it wasn't even a good idea but that's pretty much all I could afford and I just wanted to give you something because you are always so nice to me and...”
“Hyung!” Hoseok interrupted his ramblings, grinning widely at him. “It's okay. I will like it.”
Yoongi nodded his head, swallowing the sudden lump in his throat.
Hoseok finally started to unwrap the gift, careful to not ruin the wrapping papers. When he was done and realised what it was, his cheeks puffed up from how big he was smiling.
“That time we cuddled together, I noticed your feet were cold and so I thought I could buy you socks. So your feet won't be cold anymore.” explained Yoongi. He bit down on his lips, worry and hesitation creeping inside of him. “Fuck, it's totally a stupid idea, I'm sorry.”
“Hyuuuung!” whined Hoseok, still grinning cheekily. “I love it. It's not a stupid idea. It's actually very sweet.” he said, sitting down cross-legged as well. “And they're green! My favorite color!”
“I know.”
Hoseok giggled, covering his mouth with his hand. “Thank you.”
“You're sure you don't hate it?” asked Yoongi, still worried Hoseok was just being nice.
“Hyung, you know what?” suddenly said Hoseok standing up. “We're gonna shower and then I'm gonna wear them right away.” he announced proudly. “You're right, my feet are always cold at night but I'm too lazy to wear socks. At least now I have a perfect excuse!”
“What? What excuse?” asked confused Yoongi, accepting Hoseok's hand to help him up to his feet.
“Well, you gave them to me.” shrugged Hoseok. “I bet they're also warmer because you put your love into this gift...” He looked straight into Yoongi eyes, as he smirked smugly.
Yoongi just blushed once again, raising his hand to his mouth to bite down on his thumbnail. “Oh...”
“But, really, hyung.” said more seriously Hoseok, his fingers wrapping around Yoongi's wrist and tugging his hand away from his mouth. “I love this gift. It's very sweet of you and I'm really grateful.” He smiled brightly, letting go of Yoongi's wrist and resting his hand on his shoulder, squeezing down lightly on it. “Thank you.”
“No, thank you for being born.” replied Yoongi. He reciprocated the smile, his probably looking shyer. Why did he always have to be so shy around Hoseok. Or maybe it wasn't even shyness. It was just that he felt his knees turn to jelly every time Hoseok smiled like that to him. He felt his heart beat faster and faster, as if it could burst with happiness every time he put that smile on Hoseok's face. He left out a soft chuckle, looking down bashfully to try and hide his blushing cheeks.
Hoseok tipped his face back up by holding his chin with his thumb and index finer. “Hyung, thanks.”
He let go only to wrap Yoongi into a tight hug. Yoongi hugged him back, feeling even warmer. And happier.
“Ya, what are you guys doing in there??” Someone called loudly, Seokjin, by the sound of it, banging on the bathroom door and making them both jump in shock. “I gotta pee!!”
And just like that, the precious moment was broken. Yoongi cursed under his breath as he and Hoseok let go of each other and he had to open the door to let their hyung come in.
“You still haven't showered??” scolded Seokjin as soon as he had entered. “Ya, it's late. Shower and go to bed. You need to sleep!”
The two younger boys blushed to the tips of their ears as they exchanged a look. “Yes, hyung.”
Hoseok waited until Seokjin had his back to them as he peed to hide the empty wrapping papers and Yoongi's gift. He didn't know if Yoongi was just embarrassed or if he simply didn't want to be teased by the others, but if he had given him the gift in secret, than he should keep it a secret as well. Furthermore, Hoseok enjoyed that little intimacy he had with Yoongi. He winked at him, making Yoongi smirk.
They both undressed while Seokjin was still peeing, not even bothered with that kind of things anymore. They had no boundaries when it came to that kind of privacy. Yoongi turned on the shower and waited for the water to be warm enough before stepping under the shower head. Hoseok followed right after him, squeezing their bodies together in the small space and starting to clean themselves up.
“Ya, don't take forever! You do need to sleep!” called out Seokjin again, before leaving the room.
“Yes, hyung!” they replied at the same time.
Hoseok started to suddenly feel drowsy, the warm water and Yoongi's relaxing presence helping the remaining energy leave his body. It had been a long day, after all. He hid his yawn with the back of his hand, feeling the tears gathering in the corners of his eyes mix with the water.
“Hyung's right. You're tired and need to sleep.” whispered Yoongi, loud enough to be heard over the sound of water.
Hoseok hummed his agreement, resting his head on Yoongi's shoulder as the eldest turned off the water. “You could cuddle with me again and see if the socks work on keeping my feet warm.” he proposed, his voice barely above a whisper. He had loved cuddling with Yoongi. He loved cuddling with the others as well, especially Taehyung, but with Yoongi it was different. He felt safe. So safe, no nightmares could come to haunt him in his sleep. He looked up to see Yoongi's reaction to his statement and found him smiling bashfully down at him.
“That sounds nice.” he nodded, brushing away Hoseok's wet hair from his eyes.
“Let's go then.”
