Chapter 1: The Boy With The Iron Man Onesie
Chapter Text
Chapter 1: THE BOY IN THE IRON MAN ONESIE
The end of the summer must be one of the best things in the world.
Taehyung takes a sip of his coffee while looking out the bus' window, admiring the rainy day that is happening in front of him. Usually, he would've whined about the teardrops in his hair and the humidity mixed with the hot weather. But today it’s different. For some reason, coming back to campus and seeing his friends and classmates after three months gives some kind of nice feeling to such a sad and dark weather.
It’s just the third time he takes that long trip from Daegu to the University at the beginning of a semester, and it still surprises him how attracted he feels to what surrounds him. Seoul is a city full of people trying to chase their dreams. Wherever Tae looks at, there is a group of dancers practicing their moves freely, or small groups looking for some success while singing songs on the streets. He loves that feeling that people with goals emanate. It makes him feel like he's not alone in the world. It's beautiful.
While he gets up from his seat to give it to a woman who just entered the bus with a little baby, he remembers how his first trip to the university was, exactly twelve months ago. He was just a kid, afraid of all of the new stuff around him. His heart even skipped a beat when it was his time to get off the bus but he couldn't do it because of the amount of people gathered there (all of them were sweaty and smelled badly, 'cause God apparently wanted him to lose his mind even before the semester started). He had been afraid of making a mistake by getting so far from his family just to chase his dream of being an actor and going to Seoul's Arts University. What if he failed? What would he be supposed to feel? Maybe guilt, since his parents were the ones paying for his classes, or maybe impotence because if he did fail, he'd know that there wasn't really a thing he was good at. But, luckily for him, Taehyung's life had gotten better, contrary to what he thought was gonna happen, and, not only did he end up on top of all of his acting classes, but he also got a lot of new friends, including one who he went on vacation during winter break.
Ah, Park Jimin. That boy is special. Tae smiles remembering how much fun he had during all of last year. He didn't saw him during the holidays and he really needs to see him now.
Since the day they met, one morning in the dorms, they decided to be together forever. Jimin, Taehyung thinks, is one of the best things that’s ever happened to him in his life (right next to acting and his family).
Damn, he’s dying to tell Jimin about everything that happened to him when they weren't together: from the Weird Night of the Walking Dead that his neighbours organized in the middle of August, to the pretty girl that winked at him, told him that he had a nice voice and gave her number to him in the most visited Karaoke of Daegu.
Tae feels kinda bad for having so much fun in the holidays without his best friend by his side, because he had promised to himself that he couldn't have a good time without him.
As if his thoughts had flown through the air across the campus, his phone vibrates three times in his pocket, announcing incoming texts from non other than Jimin.
Dinner at Namseok's when you arrive. We'll be waiting for u.
Hurry up .
I'm starving , says his friend through the three texts, followed by another text that comes when he openes the chat.
I love you , Jimin says with an emoji of a smiley face blushing.
Tae laughts and answers the same, and that he´ll be there in five.
Just in time, the boy looks up and notices that the bus is arriving to his stop, that is right in the front doors of the Campus.
Taehyung gets off of the bus saying goodbye to the driver with a smile and a 'thanks', and then starts making his way to the building where Namseok's dorm is. Namseok, or in other words, Namjoon and Hoseok, two of the many people that last year became Tae's whole world. Having dinner in their dorm is a tradition they keep for all the weekends of the semester. Usually they eat some delicious food prepared by Seokjin (one of Tae's acting classmates), brought by him from his apartament outside the campus. But, when he doesn't cook anything, they order pizzas.
While thinking about food, Taehyung's belly roars, reminding him that he hasn't eaten a thing since he got on the bus hours ago, so he starts walking faster and gets inside the third building without looking twice to the big number on the entrance.
Now, Taehyung isn't a stupid person. Ok, people see him that way because of his dumb way of talking and his way of acting as if he’s a true idiot sometimes, but he is actually smarter than what others think. He considers himself absent-minded and careless, and it's because of that that he is not surprised when he finds out he entered the wrong building. But, when he does, he's already on the floor where Hoseok and Namjoon supposedly live. Since it isn't the third building (according to the number on the wall) and it ’s the second, they don't live there.
Tae starts walking without getting his feet off the ground, frustrated and laughing at the same time about his foolish mind, and also feeling tired because of the weight he’s carrying in his bag. And, to add to his list of disgraces, his phone just died because of the low batery. Anyways , he thinks, this first day in the campus is still better than last year's. Memories of foam, slippery floors and people laughing at him come to his mind, making him cringe at himself.
His trip back to the elevator is interrupted then by the sound of a familiar melody coming from one of the many dorms of the right floor of the wrong building. Taehyung recognizes it automatically as 'that song that I haven't been able to take off my head since the last party I asisted in the campus'. When he gets closer to the door where the music's coming from, he is surprised by a voice singing in a little clumsy (but definitely better than his own) english, but in such a beautiful way, singing along to the original singer's voice, hitting every single note, be it a low or a high one. Without cracking.
Tae thinks that's how an angel sings.
He puts his ear on the door, trying to hear it better, without thinking of what other people would think of him if they found him secretly listening to whatever the other person is doing inside their room. He puts his head sideways, completely against the wooden door, consumed by the powerful music (an art that he has always adored and that literally hypnotizes him sometimes). He closes his eyes, thinking that in that way he can listen more carefully to that idol-material voice. He takes his hand to the door to lean on it too...
Right on the door handle.
A not-so-strong door handle , like all of the campus' stupid door handles.
So the door opens wide, and he falls headfirst, hitting the floor right away, since he didn't even have time to put his hands in front to break the fall.
The music's still on, but the boy who was singing isn't doing it anymore, and is now looking at him with horror in his eyes, from the other side of the room. Tae notices that he is wearing a onesie that simulates being Iron Man's suit, and the only thing that comes to his mind before getting up from the floor and ask for forgiveness, is to ask himself why the hell would someone be trapped inside their room listening to music instead of outside partying with other people on the campus, enjoying the last weekend before the semester starts.
Then, he realizes he's being too rude, lying down in the floor of someone else's room, which he entered without even knocking on the door, looking from head to toe at the guy who lives there, secretly judging his life choices. Life choices. Tae laughs because of his own thoughts while he gets up. You talk about life choices and criticize other people, but you're the one who literally just fell inside a room .
"Mmm... Hi" he ties to break the ice, but he seriously conciders the option of running away from the scene without saying any other word. The boy doesn't answer "I'm sorry, I... was... wanted to... em... yeah...".
Taehyung stays there, waiting for the boy with brown hair and brown eyes to answer him, but he doesn't, he just stares at him as if he isn't real. Tae blushes and starts to get out of the awkward moment slowly, taking his steps back, out of the room.
When he's already out of the sight of the boy in the Iron Man onesie, he starts running towards the elevator, cursing at himself for again present that ability of getting distracted because of anything (even a stupid fly that flies by), resulting in him making a fool of himself in front of a stranger. Again.
Tae re-thinks while he gets out of the building: maybe that day isn't that much better than last year's.
-
"If your friend isn't here in less than five minutes, we're not letting him in" Hoseok says while he looks at the time in his phone.
Jimin smiles, mocking the face Hoseok does when he speaks, and takes a sip from the glass of water he has in his hands. He takes out his own phone to see if he has any new texts. Since Taehyung told him he was gonna be there in five, fifteen minutes passed, and the four boys present there are desperately starving, sick of waiting for the youngest one. Since then, Jimin has been sending him texts, but Tae isn't replying. Hunger is taking the best out of them and making them angry.
"Namjoon!" Seokjin's scream takes Jimin out of his thoughts, making him put his eyes on the mentioned one "I've told you like five times today not to drink in a glass" Jin says while he gives Namjoon a plastic cup. Hoseok and Jimin laugh with their hyung actions "You've broken enough glasses and I'm tired of buying new ones for you on Christmas".
Namjoon is about to say something about it when they hear someone knocking on the door. Hoseok opens and everyone breathes in relief when they see Taehyung with wet hair and a dumb boxy smile on his face, waiting on the hallway. Hoseok makes him come in, dragging him from the collar of his t-shirt, and letting him go on the floor next to Jimin. Both friends look at each other and don't waste a second to hug each other and mess with the other's hair. Two minutes later, Seokjin comes back with two pizza boxes in his hands and puts them on the little table they have in the middle of their round.
"Aw, you guys waited for me" Taehyung reaches for a slice of pizza, but the other three slap his hand at the same time and give him a killing look "Ouch"
"Because of you, they're probably already cold"
"Cheese is surely cold"
"Now they're probably hard to eat"
"I almost starved to death"
They’re all speaking at the same time.
"Okay, okay! I'm sorry I got here late. I wanted to tell you guys, I went into the wrong building and my phone died. I'm really sorry. Now, can we eat?"
The other four share a look with each other for a second, then they look at him and then they start laughing.
"How the hell did that happen?" says Hoseok while laughing "How can you mistake the building?" his eyes disappear when he laughs.
The youngest doesn't answer, he just takes a slice with his hands and gets it closer to his mouth. Jimin does the same, holding back laughter.
"Where's Yoongi?" Tae asks suddenly in the middle of the silence.
Everyone looks at Hoseok, and then at Jimin. Jimin almost chokes with his friend's question, and he tries to cough as quietly as possible while Hoseok answers rolling his eyes and moving his hands like it didn't matter.
"Same as always. I don't think it's ever gonna change"
"It is all Jimin's fault" says Namjoon, joking. He takes a hit from Seokjin for saying that.
"Don't worry, hyung, Namjoonie hyung is right" Jimin says "It's my fault and I think it's time for us to admit it" he starts eating faster.
"Well, I think it is Hoseok's fault" Tae defends him, making Hoseok whine, confused "Oh, come on, who hates someone one day and the other becomes best friends with him?" he continues "I'd do the same if I were Yoongi hyung. I mean, I could never hate Jimin, just look at his face, but I completely understand what he feels".
Jimin watches how Seokjin frowns.
"Ah... no. Yoongi's acting like a little resentful and immature child. Hoseok and Jimin are friends now. He should at least give ChimChim a chance, don´t you think?" the eldest says "Besides, Tae, you are friends with Yoongi and the best friend of the guy he hates"
Everybody nods and stays in silence again, lost in their own thoughts and pizzas. Jimin feels that pressure on his chest he feels everytime they mention Yoongi on one of their dinners. Mostly, he feels guilty for being the reason why Yoongi doesn't want to have dinner with them anymore. Especifically because in the beginning, there was Yoongi, Jin, Hoseok and Namjoon, he wasn't a part of it, even Taehyung had came into the group before him. And when he arrived, Yoongi stopped showing up, even if Hoseok told him thousands of times that everything was fine between him and Jimin.
Every weekend in last year's last semester, Jimin had arrived to all their dinners hoping to see the always absent Yoongi, but that guy weared that name to perfection, he was never there.
Luckily, any of the guys is angry at Jimin about it: Hoseok says that, even if Yoongi is his Tae to his Jimin (meaning: his best friend), he reckons that he can sometimes be immature and silly (but he also admits that he doesn't think it's a good idea to have Yoongi and Jimin trapped on the same room for too long); Namjoon always says he misses having someone like Yoongi during dinner to talk to, but he also says that he prefers an empty table before a table full of tension; and Seokjin always laughs saying that he already lives with Yoongi, so it doesn't bother him not seeing him once a week. Taehyung, on another note, understands the anger Yoongi feels, but he doesn't want to get in the middle of it all. After all, he's friends with both, but not as much as Hoseok. He's happy with his best friend and doesn't think it's good to force any meeting between the other two.
Jimin drinks water from his glass. He's still hungry but avoids eating another slice. Instead of eating, he concentrates on thinking in a way to make Yoongi forgive him for what happened with Hoseok last year.
-
"I can't believe you broke into some stranger's dorm like that" says Jimin, laughing. Even if what happened during dinner still worries him, he's happy because he knows he always has Taehyung to make him laugh in the hardest times.
Now, they are walking back to their shared dorm after the reunion at Namseok’s and Tae is telling him the story of the guy in the Iron Man onesie, and both of them are almost crying because of the younger's silliness.
"Shut up" Tae says, pushing him "You know what music does to me. I had never heard such a nice voice"
Jimin puts his hand on his heart, dramatically.
"I thought I was your favorite"
"You were"
Both of them start laughing again until their laughs become silent and there's no other word between them for a while, as they walk. Jimin runs his fingers through his black hair and lets out a sigh.
"I think I'm going crazy because of this Yoongi thing" he confesses, looking down. They're getting in the elevator to go to their floor. Taehyung can only hear when Jimin says "I'm guilty for what's happening".
Tae rolls his eyes.
“Don’t be silly, Jiminie. It’s not like Yoongi hyung doesn´t meet with the hyung anymore. He only avoids you. He spends every week with them and you know it. Don’t lose sleep over this.”
Jimin nods, not so sure about what his friend says, as they enter the bedroom. He notices how tired he is when he is already inside. He doesn’t even bother to take his clothes off, he just lays on his stomach on the bed, and closes his eyes, as the words Taehyung said echo in his head.
-
The apartment door opens up and, as Yoongi expected, Seokjin comes in.
"Great, you're here. Two things: first, did you bring leftovers?; second, I was working on this song..." but he can't finish his sentence because Jin hits him in the head with a pillow from the couch he's sitting in right now "Rude much?" Yoongi says, rubbing the back of his head.
Jin sits on the couch next to him.
"I'm hitting you because I can't believe you still have the guts to ask me to bring you leftovers" the older says, staring at him "You know you're always welcome to have dinner with us"
Yoongi rolls his eyes.
"I don't eat with snakes, sorry"
Jin hits him again, this time with his bare hand.
"Then don't ask me for food"
Yoongi pouts; Jin looks away, trying to resist the younger's charms.
"You must find a way to stop being immature and realize Jimin is a good person. For Hobi, at least. This is killing him. He's in the middle of this war he never asked to fight".
"He's the one who started it, in case you don't remember, hyung. I just went with it, played his game"
"Okay. But Hobi left the field already, and made peace with his op p onent; what's stopping you from doing the same?"
Yoongi thinks for a second, and in his mind there are so many reasons for him not to trust Park Jimin. The main reason is, obviously, because he had made his best friend cry, and made him injure himself and suffer for too much time. No one can guarantee Yoongi that that won't happen again, just because there isn't a rivalry between the two dancers anymore. He just doesn't want to see Hoseok hurt and losing his self-confidence again like two semesters ago because of Park Jimin.
It' s not immaturity, it’ s keeping his guard up.
"Whatever" the younger says, looking back at the notebook he has on his l ap "If you think I'll be friends with that little smurf from Busan, you're dead wrong. If someone shoots your best friend, they're shooting you too. And I don't know about you, but I wouldn't forget the face of the person that shot me"
Seokjin stretches on the couch, closing his eyes.
"That's the problem with met aph ors" he says, swallowing "They're just that. They're not real"
Yoongi watches as his hyung falls asleep in that position. He gets up to look for a blanket to cover him. While doing that, he thinks about their conversation.
He could handle seeing his friends hanging out with his worst enemy, he could handle missing some hanging out time with his best friends, and he could handle being friends with the Busan boy's best friend, but if there was something he could never handle , is becoming friends with him.
Thinking about making up and being friends with Park Jimin is the most stupid idea he ha s ever heard, and all of his friends have been telling him to do so from the past six months. He is not giving in though.

Chapter 2: The Boy In The Iron Man Onesie Pt. 2
"I think you're the only person who's happy at this point of the semester"
Jimin watches Taehyung as the happy boy goes through the street spinning around with his arms open, looking up at the sky. He has a smile in his face. Up to this point, Jimin has already saved him from running into five different people. The younger is humming to the same song his been humming to since he arrived to the campus a week ago. Taehyung laughs at his friend's comment.
"Jiminie, the semester started only a week ago" he does not open up his eyes and he neither stops spinning as he talks.
"Well, I already want to die at this stage of the semester. Those classes make me question if I really want to have a future. Sometimes I think I gotta just give up and turn into a peddler, what do you think?" Jimin grabs Tae by the arm and brings him closer to himself, so the boy doesn't crash against a stranger, again.
"Dance?" Taehyung asks, looking at his hyung in the eye for the first time since they left their dorm.
"What else could it be?"
They both turn right and sigh to the filling coffee smell that comes from Choi's cafeteria that is just a block away from them. Getting breakfast and lunch in Choi's is another of the many traditions that the Soul Arts University students have adopted in past years, since the inauguration of the cafeteria in 1998.
To Jimin and Taehyung the place has become something like a home after spending their mornings and afternoons there during a whole year. And Jimin still feels the butterflies he felt in his stomach the first time he got in there, everytime he gets closer to the smell of the coffee. It brings him memories of last year, of when he met Jin and Namjoon especifically. Jimin smiles. They're good memories. Even if not all of what came after that was good, that first day was one of the best of his life.
Taehyung intertwines his arm with his friend's, trying to cheer him up so he keeps on talking about his worries abour the dance classes.
"You were the best one last year, Jiminie. Try to relax" he says.
Jimin laughs sarcastically at the younger's comment.
"Yeah, only because Hoseok hyung was injured during the whole year. And this year there's this new guy... His talent makes me nervous" the boy with black hair whispers, as if he is afraid someone hears him. Taehyung doesn't question it, he just gets closer to him (bending just a little bit so his year is next to Jimin's mouth) and tries his best to hear him well.
"A new guy?"
"Taehyung-ah, I had already told you!" Jimin whines "He's a freshman, he's from Busan..."
"Like you!" Tae shouts, excited.
"Yes, yes, like me. And he's really talented, even Hoseok hyung gave me a worried look when we watched him dance"
"Is he better than Hobi hyung?" the younger asks, surprised.
"I'm pretty sure we already had this conversation, Taehyung. But no, that is impossible"
When they finally get to the end of the street, they find themselves at the doors of Choi's.
"If he isn't better than Hobi hyung then why are you worried? You're not that much behind him" Tae comments, always looking at the positive side of the situation.
They're both standing in front of the doors of the cafeteria -a thing they always do when they arrive-, treasuring the last moments of their little talk before going with the hyungs and talking about something totally different. Jimin finds it funny because, even if they see each other everyday and they keep each other up at night talking, there's always a new theme to talk about the next day. Even if the new theme is something he already told Taehyung but that Taehyung, for some reason, forgot.
"I appreciate your honesty"
Tae answers him with a big boxy smile and turns around, ready to enter the place and have breakfast. Jimin, on the other hand, stares at some point behind his friend. There’s a boy with black hair sitting in a bench at the other side of the street, in the park. The younger follows the direction Jimin's eyes are looking at, not understanding what is getting his friend's attention.
"I think I need glasses" he says, rubbing his eyes, trying to close them a little to see better "It's useless. What are you looking at?"
Jimin raises his arm, pointing at the guy in the bench. It's a boy about their age, who's looking down to a book that's on his lap, while he moves his head to the beat of a song that he must be hearing through his headphones.
"That's the guy from Busan, Tae. The dancer. The perfect guy. The threat. He's..."
"The guy with the Iron Man onesie!"
In a blink of an eye, Jimin watches as Taehyung goes running to where the guy is, without paying much attention to the cars in the street. For a moment, the only thing he can do is look at his friend, confused by his reaction, until he remembers the story Taehyung told him a week ago, about the boy who was a fan of the Marvel's superhero and had a nice voice. Then, he starts running after him, regretting his decision of having Tae as a best friend, and facepalming himself. He does look at both sides of the street before crossing, though, so he doesn't cause the riot his friend did.
Luckily, he gets to Taehyung right before he gets too close to the dancer (and singer, apparently), and stops him grabbing him by the elbow tight. His friend looks like a puppy, happy to see its owner.
"First, if you're gonna die, you should die with style, not being ran over by a car while you desperately run to the arms of a stranger that probably remembers you as the crazy dude who broke into his bedroom" Jimin says, almost out of breath because of their little race. He's annoyed by how his friend doesn't look like he just ran too "Second, he's a stranger who probably reminds you as the crazy dude who broke into his bedroom while he was wearing an Iron Man onesie! Are you out of your mind?! You can't approach someone like that!"
Taehyung laughs and shoves Jimin's hand away from his arm.
"C'mon, you don't want me to talk to him 'cause he's the guy you feel threatened by" Tae mocks him, touching his friend's nose with his index finger.
Jimin punches him lightly.
"I do not feel threatened by him, idiot"
"You literally said that two minutes ago. Don't contradict yourself, Jiminie"
"If you put your dirty hand on my nose again, I swear I'll burn all of your classical music CDs down" he older says, shoving Tae's hand away from his face again. The other takes his hand to his heart.
"You wouldn't"
"Try me"
They stare into each other's eyes for an entire minute, until Taehyung breaks the visual contact, and starts running towards the boy with the Iron Man onesie again.
Jimin swears quitely, but follows his friend. Sometimes, it is better to go on with his game than reject it.
"Hello!"
The black haired boy startles at the greeting.
"I'm Taehyung. Kim Taehyung. I don't know if you remember me"
The guy with black hair smiles shyly and removes an earphone from one of his ears. Taehyung doesn't stop smiling.
"Yes... You're the dude that breaks into other's rooms"
"And you're the guy in the Iron Man onesie! I'm glad we're on the same page"
Tae doesn't wait for an invitation, he just sits next to the stranger, making him move aside to the middle of the bench, reaching out a hand to shake it with him. The other guy takes Tae's hand in his, but avoids looking at him in the eyes.
"I'm Jungkook"
When their hands stop touching, Jungkook redirects his sight to the book in his lap again, timid. Taehyung looks behind the bench, looking for Jimin. Luckily, he finds him walking slowly to where he and Jungkook are. He sends him a signal with his hand to hurry up, but Jimin starts walking more slowly. The younger of the two rolls his eyes and looks back at the shy guy who's sitting next to him.
Tae rests his chin in the palm of his hand and watches Jungkook's side carefully. He notices he has pretty features, and a nose a little big for his face. Anyways, the actor finds that big nose cute, as it reminds him of his own big nose.
"Could you stop staring at me?" Taehyung sits up straight when he hears Jungkook's demand. The guy's still not looking at him in the eyes and Tae apologizes almost in a whisper.
"I... I'm sorry about breaking into your room like that. It was pretty abrupt" he says. The younger moves his hand, like saying it didn't matter "I think I gotta explain why it happened. Well, you have such a beautiful voice I thought I was dreaming, you know? So I got closer to your door to listen to you better. I didn't see what I was doing and I ended up opening your door by mistake"
Jungkook blushes with the comment about his voice, but laughs at how Taehyung tells the story. The older laughs too.
"I made you blush"
Tae never thought that someone could turn the color Jungkook was now.
Before he can even say something more, another body sits next to him, and he recognizes immediately it’s Jimin. When he turns to look at his friend he finds an expression on Jimin's face that he has just seen two times: the first time they met (war flashbacks, literally), and when Jimin had dinner with him, Jin, Hoseok and Namjoon for the first time.
Jimin is uncomfortable.
Jungkook looks a him and recognizes him too. He greets him with a smile and Tae feels kinda betrayed at how the younger seems to be more comfy with the other dancer around. After all, they had shared a moment -a brief one, but a moment after all when Tae broke into his room.
"I guess you already know Jiminie"
"Yeah, we're in the same dance classes" Jungkook answers, smiling at Jimin.
"Well he thinks you're really good at dancing. So good, in fact, that it scares him a little" Jimin punches Tae for saying that and shakes his hand and head, denying what Tae said. The youngest of the three smiles, uncomfortably.
"Don't listen to him. That's Taehyung's speciality, making people uncomfortable with his stupid comments" Jimin says and Tae laughs maliciously, looking at his best friend "He saw you sitting here and got excited 'cause he's been looking for you all week to apologize" Tae nodded "But I'd be carefull if I was you, he tends to stalk the people he likes".
This time, Taehyung doesn't nod, but punches Jimin, then his cheeks turn red of embarrassment. Jungkook, on the other hand, is still uncomfortable and avoiding all kinds of visual contact.
"Ok, but you gotta admit you've been looking for him"
"Of course. And maybe if you had a voice as pretty as his and an Iron Man onesie, I'd be more interested in spending time with you" Tae jokes.
Jimin looks at Jungkook.
"I used to be his favorite voice. I guess I've been replaced" he says and Jungkook laughs, looking at both of them in the eyes for the first time since the beginning of the conversation.
"It's because he hasn't seen me dance yet, hyung" the youngest says, taking his attention from Jimin to Taehyung "If he's you're favorite dancer too, just wait until you see me dance" he says in a cocky voice.
The other two start laughing, surprised by the sudden comment of the guy who two seconds ago couldn't stop looking at his lap.
Taehyung feels like he just made a new friend.
Namjoon thinks it's not possible that always, always , the only ones to arrive late are Jimin and Taehyung. Everytime. When everyone wants to have breakfast calmly with their younger friends, they never show up, they arrive 30 minutes later than arranged and, the worst of all is that they admit that they were talking at the doors of the cafeteria the whole time and that they got carried away by their conversation. And Namjoon has learnt to live with it. Bit this is too much.
"Officially 46 minutes late" he exclaims, angry after checking his watch and slamming the table while shaking his leg impatiently.
From across the table, Jin tries to keep calm.
"Could you please stop causing an earthquake?" he says, using his leg to kick Namjoon's under the table, what is useful to calm him down for a minute (literally) until he checks his watch again.
"Forty seven! I'm gonna starve" he whines, resting his head on the empty table
"God, be patient"
Namjoon looks at Seokjin, raising his head from the cold wood.
"I still don't understand your silly tradition of 'all of us eating together' and 'waiting for everyone'. I'll starve to death"
Jin rolls his eyes, taking his phone out of his pocket, just for the sake of ignoring the younger, and Namjoon knows it.
"You said that already"
If he wasn't his hyung, Namjoon would surely punch him. And if his face wasn't as pretty to break it, Namjoon would punch him too. Sometimes Seokjin can really be a pain in the ass. Even if Namjoon isn’t against of the traditions imposed by Jin (waiting for the others to come and all that stuff), since Jimin and Taehyung started going out to eat with them, Namjoon realized that he is eating an hour later than usual. And he's not a person who's always hungry and dies for a piece of bread, he's just not patient for people who arrive late to the table, that's all.
Jin's eyes brighten up when he looks behind Namjoon's head, so the younger knows that the maknaes have finally appeared. But, when he turns around to yell at them to hurry up, he sees that they have someone else with them, someone neither him or Jin know. He shares a look with his hyung and Seokjin shrugs his shoulders.
"I bet you missed us" Jimin says, sliding in the sit next to Jin, resting his chin on the older's shoulder. He hugs him by the waist while caresing him with his cheek.
"I'm hungry" Taehyung does the same on Namjoon's sit, but he doesn't hug him like Jimin, 'cause he can see the hatred in his eyes. The stranger sits next to Tae, with both of his hands in between his legs, looking down.
"Oh, this is Jungkook" Tae and Jimin say at the same time, after noticing their hyungs' expressions.
"He's with Jimin and Hobi hyung in their dance classes" Taehyung says, calling out for a waitress with his hand.
"And he's also the kid Taehyung's obsessed with... you know, the boy in the Iron Man onesie" Jimin clarifies. The actor looks at his best friend with hatred, while their hyungs nod, understanding.
"I'm not obsessed with him, I thought that was clear" Tae turns himself to Jungkook "I'm not obsessed with you"
Everyone laughs and Namjoon feels like he's about to cry when the waitress asks them what they'll get. Everyone makes their order and wait for the food to arrive in silence. Once the food is there, both Jin and Namjoon start eating desperately. Seokjin makes a weird noise -they're all used to it by now- and looks up at the ceiling, like thanking the sky for the food.
Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook look at him and laugh.
"I guess they were hungrier than us" Jimin comments.
Namjoon looks at him with a frown and his mouth full.
"I'll just say one thing" he says, drinking his coffee "If today you're late again for dinner I promise that I'll never let you step a foot in my dorm ever again"
"We weren't that late" Tae complains, stealing a toast from Jungkook's plate, as if it’s usual for him.
"Of course not" his hyung says sarcastically "You were just forty seven minutes and thirty seconds later than us"
"Excuse him" Jin interrumpts "He's kinda stressed lately" he looks at Jungkook, raising an eyebrow "He'll have a really important rap gig soon"
" Rap gig you call it. It's called a concert , Seokjin, oh my God!" Namjoon grabs his own head. Taehyung decides to confort him by passing his arm around his shoulder and resting his head on Namjoon's.
"It's hyung , Nam" Jin seems to not care about the mental breakdown his friend is having and keeps on talking to Jungkook as if nothing was happening "He's been getting ready for this for more than a month. It's really important to him".
"A month! Hyung, I've been preparing for this since we met, at least, and you know that. I've never had a concert this big. Oh, Gosh, where the hell is Hobi hyung when needed?"
"Speaking of that..." Taehyung starts.
"Where's hyung?" Jimin finishes.
"Yoongi" Seokjin and Namjoon -who's still with his hands in his head and Tae hugging him- answer at the same time, without even looking at them.
The two younger nod, understanding, while the youngest of them all looks confused.
"Wait a second" Jungkook finally speaks to the oldest hyungs there "You rap?" he asks to the younger of them, and Namjoon answers with a shy smile, a dimple showing in his left cheek (which he covers with his hand, flustered).
"Yes. With Hoseok hyung and Yoongi hyung. We're something like a team"
"Hoseok? As in, Jung Hoseok?" Jungkook asks, eyes widening with the surprise.
"Yes, Hobi hyung is a rapper besides of being a great dancer. A real talent, right?" Jimin comments, very proud of his friend. But Jungkook ignores him and keeps on talking with the rapper present there.
"You know, I rap sometimes too" he says, looking down shyly.
Jimin and Taehyung look at each other.
"That too?" they ask at the same time, not believing it
"He sings, dances and also raps" the dancer says, counting with his fingers the qualities of the younger guy.
"And he's atractive too" Tae adds, making Jungkook blush (for the third time that day).
As the two best friends keep on complaining about the different talents of the "golden maknae", as they now call him, Jin waits for the perfect moment to interrupt the conversation and redirect the theme to himself, as Namjoon asumes.
"Whatever" Seokjin says, finally "Going back to the thing that brought us here... Namjoon mentioned a dinner a few moments ago" Jungkook nods, side looking at Taehyung and Jimin "I think you should come, since we know you're Hobi and Jiminie's classmate, and you're the boy in the Iron Man onesie"
The youngest turns his head quickly to Tae, with a smile in his face.
"That's how you referred to me all the times you spoke about me?" he asks and Tae smiles innocently.
"What do you think? I'll send you the address" the eldest continues.
Jimin frowns, confused.
"It's simple, it's in Namjoonie hyung and Hobi hyung's dorm"
Jin smiles.
"Not today. We're making some changes"
Namjoon looks at his hyung and passes his hand through his face: Jin really wants to start a war.
Sometimes, Yoongi hates his life.
Up until now, this day has been horrible: he woke up late for his first class of the day and, as he was getting ready, he dropped his coffee on his notes of the week. Then, he stumbled over a stone while he was runnning to take the bus and fell in front of all of the people who were waiting in the station. He found a hair in his lunch. He choked with an olive. He crossed paths with a guy in the campus that he knew, but forgot his name while they talked. He tripped with a stone again, but that time he fell on top of somebody else that cursed at him for getting his clothes dirty.
And, Yoongi isn't a superstitious person, but when he saw a black cat approaching him while he walked to his studio, he crossed over the street, just in case.
Yoongi should've considered every bad thing that happened to him as a signal.
Anyways, there is no surprise that can be compared to the one he feels once he gets in his apartment, after a really long day, to find six people looking at him with curious eyes, once of them being Park -fucking- Jimin.
The rapper clenches his teeth.
"What is this?" he asks Jin. His hyung smiles and stands up to walk towards him.
"I... I thought we could have dinner here intead of NamSeok's" he says quietly.
"And you didn't plan on telling me?" Yoongi is outraged with his hands crossed over his chest, without even looking at the other five who are sitting down. Five pair of eyes follow his every move.
"Well, I thought you could keep out company" Jin smiles again, innocently, trying to soften up the cold expression in Yoongi's face. but he doesn't seem affected but him and doesn't even look at Hoseok when he makes the next question:
"Why didn't you tell me, Hoseok?"
Hobi takes a sip of water and sinks in his chair when he hears the question.
"I was arriving to my dorm when Namjoon started dragging me here" he answers finally. This time, Yoongi does look at him, but feels betrayed.
"And you couldn't text me?"
Everyone watches the drama that is happening in front of them and no one says a thing. Yoongi side looks at Jimin, just to show him that he knows he's there and that, yes, he still hates him.
"Everything happened so fast. Besides, I like the drama" Hobi takes another sip of his glass of water and looks at Jimin.
Yoongi knows his best friend is not like this. He knows that the only thing Hobi wants is for his best friends to stop hating each other and make peace. But he can't do that. It'd feel like treason, treason to himself, to his moral values, and to Hoseok, even if Hobi doesn't hate the other dancer anymore.
"I can't believe you keep on betraying me like this"
"Hey, don't speak about betrayal when I literally saved your life today"
"It was an olive, I wasn't gonna die, Hoseok"
Everyone stays silent and Yoongi doesn't know if storming out of the apartment in a rage or if shutting himself up in his room like a bratty teenager. But when he finally decides what to do, he realizes it took him too long to react and that it would be awkward to storm out of there now, after two minutes of standing there without doing anything, looking at his friend. So now he's being pushed by Jin to the free sit in front of -damn- Jimin, while Namjoon brings the food from the kitchen.
It isn't until the moment he's sitted that he realizes that he actually doesn't know one of the people there, whose eyes are on him.
"Who are you?"
" Hyung " everybody says.
"This is Jeon Jungkook" Taehyung informs him, placing a hand on the maknae's shoulder "He's a first year. He's in the same dance classes with Hobi hyung and Jiminie"
"Oh" Yoongi pretends to be interested about it. He side looks at Jimin -again- and knows he's being obvious, but somehow that's exactly what he wants "I hope you don't turn out to be a snake, you seem like a good kid" he smiles, while he eats his noddles with the help of his sticks.
"Hyung!"
Yoongi looks around, confused. This time, he avoids looking at Jimin.
"What? Can't I say what I think? After all, this is my home, you're the ones who invaded it. I think I deserve that right, at least" he takes food to his mouth again, looking at Hoseok directly in the eyes.
Jimin moves, uncomfotable in his sit, and Taehyung puts an arm around his waist, trying to calm him down.
Yoongi redirects his attention to the youngest. He really feels bad about giving such a bad first impression, and about maybe ruining the first dinner they have together in months. But in that moment, the only thing he cares about is getting Jimin -and Hoseok and Jin and Namjoon and Taehyung- to understand that he's never gonna like him or forgive him for what he did to Hobi.
"Anyways" he continues, getting all the attention again "if you end up being a snake, I doubt you exceed Jimin's level here. He's special.
Jimin closes his eyes and his hands turn into fists. Now he's the one clenching his teeth, and Yoongi notices it.
"What's wrong, Jiminie? You can't accept the truth? Have you told your new friend how trashy you were to Hoseok last year?"
For a second, a big silence covers the table. The tension can be seen, smelled and tasted.
Jungkook is asking himself why the hell he accepted to have dinner with six guys who were practically strangers (one of them being the crazy dude who broke into his dorm during his first day on campus). Taehyung is holding Jimin by his shirt; Namjoon is covering his face with his hands and Hoseok and Seokjin are looking at each other, regretting their decision of organizing this.
"I'm sorry you're a little eleven year old kid who doesn't grow up, Yoongi. You should learn something from Hoseok" Jimin spits, angry.
"That's the difference between Hoseok and me, Jiminie" Yoongi pronounces the nickname once again, in a disgusted tone "The difference is that he doesn't notice when a person doesn't deserve to be forgiven. I do" Yoongi puts his elbows on the table and leans on the table, placing his face too close to Jimin's "I know when a person is a real big piece of shit"
That's enough for Jimin. He gets rid of Tae's hold and pushes Yoongi back to his chair. But Jungkook and Taehyung hold him back so he doesn't do anything.
Meanwhile, Jin and Hoseok stand up to take the rapper away and probably kill him in the kitchen for ruining it all. Namjoon goes next to Tae, Jungkook and Jimin. They're all sharing worried looks and one only thought.
Are these two ever gonna grow up?
Notes:
Sooo... hope you liked it!!
Just to clarify some things:
-Jin and Yoongi are in their fifth year of college, they live together, outside of campus.
-Hobi and Nam are in their fourth year, and are dormmates (NamSeok's is their bedroom name clearly)
-Jimin and Tae are in their second year, and are also dormmates (and soulmates, but we'll get to that)
-Jungkookie is a first year, and his dormmate will be revealed in later chapters ;)If you like this story and have any doubts, or don't understand something, feel free to ask! I think it will get very confusing because there are too many storylines I've thought of. If I think the answer to a question is not a spoiler, I'll answer happily! If not, you'll have to wait to find out!!

Chapter by HSch (TheSchProductions), TheSchProductions
Summary:
Who even is Park Jimin? The person Yoongi hates. And yes, there's a whole story behind it. This is it.
Notes:
Hello!! It's been like a really long while since I last updated this story :((((((((((( sorry. I don't find any time or inspiration with school. Can't promise I'll be updating more from now on, translating is honestly really hard. But this is what I came up with! Hope you like it :D
This chapter is kinda like a flashback to the first semester of Jimin and Tae's first year (a year before the current storyline), though it's focused on Yoongi, Hobi and Jimin. Read it though I won't spoil everything adgfhjgThis is the H side of TheSchProductions <3
Ps: in last chapter notes I said Hobi and Nam were in their fourth college year, but it was a mistake! They're actually in the third, only one year above Jimin and Tae. The rest is still the same.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Jung Hoseok is the best friend anyone could ask for. Yoongi smiles as he thinks this and watches as his friend dances in front of the mirror of the University's practice room.
It's night time, and they're not supposed to be there, a day before the beginning of the semester, but Hoseok showed up at Yoongi and Jin's shared appartment at like 1 a.m., asking him to help him force the place's locked door so they could go in. It's like a tradition between the two o them: going there so Hobi can practice during the night on weekends, just because they enjoy the feeling of risk breaking in there brings them. They have done it five saturdays at early morning since last semester, and it's the first time they do it just a day before the beginning of one.
The first time they did it, it was a spontaneous decision they made when they were both really drunk, and didn't thought of the consequences breaking in in a private property could bring them. Luckily, nothing happened, so -sober this time- they chose to come back. And then they came back again. And again. Now, they don't fear being discovered, instead, they get excited by just thinking about leaving at night to go to the University buildings.
Of course, they keep this secret from their roommates, who would join forces to tell them they're commiting a 'crime', being the morally correct people they are. But they really don't want to lose this little and meaningful tradition of theirs, and miss the opportunity to create amazing memories together, just like it happens every time it's just the two of them.
"I have a lot of confidence in me this year"
Yoongi smiles when he hears his friend's comment. He knows how much Hoseok loves dancing. And he also knows he's not insecure about his talent, but somehow he always manages to lose confidence in himself after the smallest mistake. But, last semester, Hoseok topped his class, and Yoongi can tell he's happy and more confident than ever.
"Well, i think you should" he says, looking down "You're the best, and stuff"
Hobi smiles.
"I'll be the Main Act this year in the Final Show, and I'll dedicate my routine to you. I think I should dance like a emotionless robot. Because it would look like you, you know" says the dancer, giving a little demonstration.
Yoongi laughs, and gets up from his place on the floor to make a funny dance in front of the mirror, trying to copy the steps Hoseok was doing a few seconds ago. Hobi hits the floor with his fist, laughing.
"Sometimes I think you have a double personality, hyung" he says, standing up with some trouble, and leaving a mark of sweat on the floor. Yoongi points at it with a disgusted face.
"That's why I don't exercise"
Hoseok laughs again, and the rapper is so glad to see his friend as happy as ever. He can read in his eyes that he trusts himself and his talent this year. After all, it's his third year here, and he's already being considered one of the best dancers in the history of the University. Yoongi is glad to notice how confident Hobi feels about this semester. He just wants his best friend to have all he wants, and wishes that this will be the best year for him.
That's why when two days later, when they meet at Choi's at 7 p.m., after not seeing each other during the whole day, Yoongi asks him how his first dance class went. But Hoseok's sad lips and lost eyes speak for himself, making Yoongi forget everything good that happened to him that day. Suddenly, he realizes it hasn't been a nice day at all -with clouds, wind and rain-, and the darkness in his friends eyes makes it worse.
"What happenes?" he asks, trying to not show how worried he is completely. Hoseok places his hands on his face and laughs sarcastically from the other side of the table. His loud laugh catches the other customers' attention, which alarms the rapper for a second, but decides to ignore it and focus on what's important now.
"I'm in trouble" is the only thing that comes out of Hobi's mouth.
"I think I need more details"
Hoseok thinks for a second. Yoongi doesn't know about what, and the long pause is making him lose his mind.
"A first year. I think I'll die" he announces, sliding his back across the seat. Yoongi was actually waiting for this, so he rolls his eyes.
"Don't be stupid. He's a first year, and you're Third Year's Dance God. Don't let a good first impression bring you down."
Just then, the waiter arrives with their drinks. Both of them thank her, but none touches the drinks. There's an awkward silence.
"It's not just that" the younger says finally, taking his cup between his hand and taking a sip of the drink "Like, you know how everyone likes me..."
"If you say so"
"... Well, for some reason this kid doesn't like me" he finishes, with a shocked expression. Yoongi doesn't admit it, but he's also left speechless with the confession.
"But, did you try that ritual of yours? The one you do when you wanna make friends? You know, stalking them and saying stupid things such as 'I'm your hope, I'm your angel' repeatedly and invading their personal space until you form a bond with them"
Hobi looks at him, killing him inside his mind, and takes another sip.
"Firstly, I don't say those things..."
"You do"
"I don't!" he claims, offended "Second, I was just being myself with him. And you know, people love me, I'm adorable. But this kid is not only a really good dancer, he's also really mean to me" he pouts.
"C'mon. You must be exaggerating. I'm sure he's like any other talented dance in first year. He's gotta make his way. You know, the whole 'I didn't come here to make friends' thingy. He must be a real softie inside."
"Like you?"
"I'm not like that"
Hoseok thinks as he frowns and crosses his arms over his chest. He's not actually worrying that much about being loved or not by the new student, Yoongi notices it. There's something else that alarms him. Does he feel threatened by the new kid? Yoongi shakes his head, making those thoughts go away. He's the best dancer in the University, at least this semester. No one can beat him and his talent. However, his friend's darkened expression doesn't change, and the rapper fears when he realizes his theory might be true.
After that conversation, that same week's satuday early morning, Hoseok wants to clear his mind, so he calls Yoongi so they can meet up at the campus and break in in the dance practice room. Yoongi agrees, again without thinking about the consequences, 'cause he's used to this. But, this time, after they open the door and get in the practice room, they find a young and small guy lying on the floor. He has red hair, Yoongi sees, and he doesn't look very tall. He must be a student, like them, so he relaxes his muscles.
However, next to him, Hoseok clenches his teeth and fists, before bringing a hand to his face -a typical thing he does when something upsets him, but doesn't want people to notice by looking at his face.
"Jimin" he announces, walking towards the guy, who is now getting up from the floor.
Yoongi recognizes the name. Hobi told him a days before. He's the new fisrt year dancer.
"Hoseok hyung" Jimin responds, smiling. Yoongi can't help a smile too. He seems like someone nice and loveable, not a little ball of evil like Hobi's been describing him these last days "It's weird to find you here"
"Yeah" he answers simply, and then turns around and points at Yoongi "This is Min Yoongi, a friend. Yoongi hyung, this is Park Jimin"
Jimin bows from where he is, Yoongi follows, and thinks again that he doesn't understand what's so bad about this guy.
"What are you doing here, anyway?" he asks, trying to break the ice. Jimin shrugs cutely in response.
"I felt like leaving my room, so I came here" he begins to stretch his arms in front of the big mirror "After all, I gotta start practicing my solo for the Final Show. I must do it if I'm going to be the Main Act" he turns his head to smile at Hoseok, and Yoongi swears he's never seen his friend's lips so curved down.
"Well, good luck with that. My friend here is the most talented dancer in the University, and it'll be hard to beat him. Am I right or am I right, Hobi?" he teases, a little to bring Hoseok's mood up and make that kid come down from his imaginary cloud.
But Jimin holds back a smile and, without saying a word, he continues stretching.
"Wait, what did I miss?" he asks Hobi, who looks like he wants to get out of there.
"They've been trying to decide the dancer these days, but they're only considering Jimin" he responds, pissed off "The professor nim thinks the new talent should be in the spotlight. Jimin is a contemporary dancer. He's the first one in the University in years. So, they think that, if we make him the main attraction, now that the show will be televised, he will attract more dancers like him to the Unniversity and stuff"
Yoongi opens his mouth to say a sarcastic comments, but stops himself.
Now, he understands. That's why Hoseok has been to worried: there's a chance that this year -one of the most important years for the beginning of a possible career, because the show will be televised for everyone too watch- he won't be the Main Act in the most important event the University holds. All because of Jimin, who seems to be enjoying a lot ruining everyone else's chances, standing there, with his arms behind his back, acting as if he was innocent. And Yoongi thinks it's unfair. Hobi has been working so hard. He was the Main Act last semester, but he deserves it way more this semester, because he's improved a lot during the holidays. They can't do this to him. They'd only be damaging the themselves, though, not choosing him to perform as the Main Act, and represent the University in front of the country through the screen. Who even is Park Jimin?
"I must clarify that I have a scholarship, I'm not nobody. I'm not being gifted this place, I've earned it" Jimin defends himself, arms crossed over his chest, just like Hoseok.
Yoongi gets even more pissed.
"Well, FYI, I also have a scholarship, and so does Hoseok" he shoots, walking a little closer to him "And anyway, I think that choosing a first year no one knows for publicity is stupid. Sorry to bring you to reality, but your twirls and splits are not this place's style"
Jimin laughs, shy after the counterattack of his dancemate's best friend. However, he doesn't step back, he just takes a step forward, leaving less space between him and Yoongi.
"I'm not only a contemporary dancer. And the University is trying to get more dancers with technique to form another class apart from the one they have, with dancers like me. And, honestly, who knows? There's a chance that after that Contemporary Dance will be the style of the Seoul's Arts University."
Yoongi can feel anger emanating from Hoseok's body behind him. He thinks it's the first time he sees him this mad, which makes him more pissed than before. There's a single thought that sticks in his mind as Jimin walks towards his bag and clothes to take them and leave: who the hell does Park Jimin think he is?
The youngest of the three positions himself between the two best friends before heading to the door, faking a smile. Yoongi realizes the dancer is shorter than him. That makes him want to smile.
"I hope the best performs, though" he comments, looking at Hoseok.
When he finally disappears through the door, the rapper lets himself fall on the floor, as he laughs.
"Well, he doesn't hate you. He just really likes showing off his confirmed place in the Final Show" he closes his eyes, feeling the body of his best friend lying down next to him.
"Almost confirmed" he corrects him, putting an arm under his head, using it as a pillow "It's not decided yet"
"Then, I think you should show professor nim and anyone else in the University a little bit of your J-Hope juice. They'll regret if they don't let you show your talent to the world" says Yoongi, calling Hoseok by his rapper name, the one he uses when he goes to rap battles with him and Namjoon.
Hobi laughs, a little dimple forming next to his upper lip.
"I guess I have to show them who J-Hope is"
It's two weeks later that Hoseok comes running to Jin and Yoongi's apartment, and doesn't even knock on the bathroom's door, where the rapper is taking a shower, before going in.
"YOONGI HYUNG" he screams, opening the shower's courtain.
"What the hell is wrong with you?! Can't you see I'm naked?! Go away!" a shocked Yoongi responds, covering his body with the courtain.
Hoseok just screams again.
"YOONGI HYUNG" he repeats.
"WHAT?!" Yoongi asks, screaming too.
Hobi inhales, calming himself down.
"There'll be a competition" he finally says. The rapper growls.
"You don't give me enough details, Hoseok, you NEVER give me enough details" he complains.
"Alright, fine, I'll explain..." Yoongi growls again "What?"
"Could you please at least let me finish showering?"
Hoseok agrees, not even a little bit ashamed for his actions, and leaves the bathroom so his friend dresses up. After a few minutes, Yoongi walks in the living room, and sits next to him and Jin in the couch, in front of the TV, without saying a word. Hobi takes advantage of that silence to keep telling his story.
"Well, basically, the professor nims and everyone else who works at the University finally made up their mind and decided to give all the dancers a chance to be the Main Act at the Final Show.
Yoongi opens his eyes really big, and Jin stops paying attention to the movie he's watching on TV to focus on Hobi's words. Both look at him so he continues explaining. Hoseok takes a handful of popcorn from the bucket Jin has and, after eating some, he goes on, looking at his hyung in the eyes.
"They announced it this morning" he smiles "You should've seen poor Jiminie's face"
"Okay, but what happened? How will it be?" Jin asks, intrigued.
"I guess they realized they were being shit heads by not giving other dancers a chance and letting a nobody fresh out of high school represent the University"
Hoseok nods, agreeing with Yoongi's words.
"This time around will be different, though. They want us to prove we actually deserve being the main act, so they'll make us compete against each other. Like, last semester was like that. But they gave us a choreography to dance. This time, we'll prepare own on. Each student will present their own choreography and dance it. Guess the best will win"
"Perfect!" Yoongi says. The other two look at him "What? You're the best dancer and choreographer here, right? The Main Act is yours. Now, shall we eat?"
"It's not that easy" Hobi stops him, sighing "I also think I'm the best dancer, but my hyungs are better than me making choreographies"
"Didn't you make choreographies with your dance group back in Gwangju?" Jin asks again. No one is paying attention to the movie at this point.
"Yeah... but that was my group and I. Just me? It'll be kinda hard. Plus, Jimin's a favourite here. I'm not"
"¿Jimin?" Jin says again, a little disappointed thinking in the rivalry between the two dancers (and the never missing third wheel, Min Yoongi). Hoseok nods, lost in his own thoughts.
"I have to choreograph the perfect choreography. I must, if I want to be the Main Act" he says, now looking at the wall.
"And also if you want to make that stupid Busan smurf that dances like a delicate buttefly" Yoongi adds.
Jin looks at him, with a disapproving look. Hoseok chuckles.
"Two things. First, I can't believe you actually said those words out loud. Second, be careful with whatever you say about Jimin; he might not be your friend, but Taehyungie is, and you know how much he hates when we speak bad about Jimin" says the oldest, wanting to hit Yoongi in the head with the bucket of popcorn.
"But Taehyungie's not here" the rapper teases.
"Whatever" Hoseok interrupts, before a fight about Yoongi's (and Jin's) problematic friendships "As I was saying, I'll give everything to make the perfect choreography. I have a few weeks to work on it. It'll be perfect"
Yoongi puts an arm around his best friend's neck, and breathes as if he was an old man (or Namjoon) about to shower Hoseok with words of wisdom, and then says:
"And I'll support you. We will take Park Jimin down"
It's not even a week after that conversation when Hobi shows Yoongi what he has up until now o the choreography.
"Um, no. No, no, no. I'm against it. We're not doing that. Oh, and, have I mentioned no? No. N. O."
"Calm down with the song names, hyung. And we are not doing anything, 'cause it's just me. And it's not risky, don't worry"
Yoongi takes a hand to his heart, dramatically.
"It's not risky? I've seen you dance a billion of times before, and I've never seen you make such dangerous steps and jumps. You know you can fall and break something, right? Is beating a Park Jimin worth it?" as always, even though he's sharing his concerns, he's trying not to look too worried and desperate about the topic. Honestly, there's nothing scarier to him than the simple idea of Hoseok -or any of his friends- getting hurt. But, just like every time, he tries to not be too open about his fears and emotions.
"Hyung, this is not about Jimin; it's about me finally showing the world who I am. And the choreography is not that dangerous, you're just not used to see me dancing like this" he tries to calm the rapper down, placing a hand on his shoulder "So believe me, nothing will happen to me. I used to dance like this all the time back in Gwangju. Nothing will happen to me" he repeats, and starts dancing his perfect choreography in front of Yoongi again.
They're in the park in front of Choi's, and the rapper can see how Jin and Namjoon look at them from the other side of the street, each with a coffee in their hands. Just in that moment, two guys walk towards them and greet them. Yoongi recognizes Taehyung, and growls when he realizes the other guy is not other than Park Jimin. The reason why he's friend is risking his physical health -because he's not only doing moves that are way too hard, he's also sleeping, even eating less, 'to be in better shape'- for the competition, thats just a week from now. This whole competiton doesn't give him a good vibe. Jimin makes his feelings worse.
That's why, when the day of the competition comes, and Hoseok gets an injury by twisting his ankle after a bad landing -Yoongi knew, he knew he wasn't in a good condition to dance that day-, his hate towards the other dancer intensifies. When he watches as his friend tries so hard not to cry, sat on the floor, grabbing his ankle with pain in his face, Yoongi can't help but look at Jimin with anger. When the rapper runs towards the injured dancer and joins the group of worried people that are around him and ask him to keep calm, he pushes Jimin away and curses at him. Because Yoongi knows it's Jimin's fault. Because, if it wasn't for him, Hoseok wouldn't have become obsessed with creating the perfect choreography.
And the injury ends up keeping Hoseok from performing -in any way- in the Final Show. In his place, the contemporary dancer, who Yoongi can't deny does have talent. But he hates him, and he has never hated someone that badly. Because, for the last weeks his friend has felt depressed for not being able to dance.
That's when Yoongi promises himself that he'll never stop hating Jimin, even when, right before his eyes, the next semester, him and Hobi come back from the holidays being friends, for whatever reason the rapper doesn't need to know, even though Hobi tries to explain himself.
But Yoongi isn't like Hoseok, and he won't be fooled by Park Jimin's smile
Present day...
"Jungkook-ah! Jungkook-ah!"
Jungkook turns around, to find himself face to face with -a really sweaty- Taehyung. He takes and earphone out of one of his ears to hear him better.
"I didn't know you ran" Jungkook says, laughing at Taehyung. His hyung puts a hand on his waist and bend forward, trying to steady his breathing.
"I don't" he shakes his head "I've been following you since you left the campus, but you couldn't hear me, and you're way too fast. I think I'm starting to question my physical state" he sits on the floor with his legs crossed, not caring about people possibly stepping on him. Jungkook laughs and awkwardly sits next to him, because he supposes that's what his hyung wants.
"Sorry about that. I usually run with the volume at the maximum" he apologizes.
Taehyung moves shakes his hand, not giving importance to the matter, and grabs his shirt, moving it to give his body some fresh air to his body.
"Why where you looking for me, anyway?"
"Oh. Well, I wanted to apologize on behalf of Jimin, Yoongi hyung, Namjoonie hyung, Jin hyung and Hobi hyung. And well, I wanted to apologize myself too. Sorry for making you feel awkward the other night. We should've warned you about Jimin and Yoongi hyung's rivalry, so you would've been prepared for the collision. That wasn't a good first impression" Tae laughs "I think I'll never have a good first impression with you"
"Don't worry, hyung. I mean, yeah, it was kinda awkward and made me question a little bit my life choices, but nothing bad happened at the end"
"Yeah, but I really feel like a owe you a good first impression, you know?"
"I don't think there's a better first impression than your first one, hyung"
Taehyung nods, agreeing. Jungkook looks at him for what he feels it's too long, and feels a knot in his stomach that makes him want to start running again. The maknae starts to get up from the floor.
"I think I'll keep running. I accept your apologies, but next time I really want to know why Yoongi hyung and Jimin hyung hate each other"
Tae gets up fast, and grabs his arm before he can go away like he did before, in the campus.
"Let's change that first impression first" he says, pointing behind him "Let's go to Choi's for a coffee, it's on me. I'll tell Jimin to meet us there later, and he'll tell you the story" Jungkook hesitates, feeling that familiar knot of awkwardness in his stomach, again feeling like he wants to run the hell out of the social interactions "C'mon, Jungkookie. Please. You can't start building a friendship with us if we don't meet up at Choi's more"
"I don't know..."
"I promise the hyungs won't be there. It's sunday! Namjoonie hyung, Hobi hyung and Yoongi hyung spend their day in the studio and Jin is working... at Choi's! But I swear that you won't even notice his presence" Taehyung kneels, begging with his hands held together. Jungkook looks around him, hoping no one's watching his hyung's weird behavior.
"Fine, alright, just get up"
"Yay!" Taehyung exclaims, hugging the maknae. He regrets automatically, and steps back, embarrassed "Sorry, I hug people when I'm happy"
Jungkook bites his lips, without noticing he's mirroring his hyung's actions, and looks down.
"Let's see if you can make that good first impression this time, hyung"
Taehyung smiles, his mouth shaped like a box. Jungkook copies him again, and the two of them start walking their way back to Choi's. Jungkook thinks there's something about Tae that makes him want to follow him to the café. There's a high chance that, just because Taehyung's the person he's with, he'll experience another awkward situation. However, again, just because he's with Taehyung, it doesn't sound that bad. But the thought is stupid. Jungkook laughs softly as they both get in the cafeteria, thinking that there's only been two days since he knows him, and he already feels close to Tae. Maybe because being friends with someone like him -who doesn't feel awkward about greeting and trying to become friends with someone he had embarrassed himself in front of just days ago- feels fun and different. Maybe it's because Tae makes everyone feel welcomed with the way he is, and opens his arms to any new person he thinks is good.
There's something about Taehyung that makes Jungkook like him so much.

How trashy was it?? Hope it didn't have a lot of mistakes lol
School has me wanting to die so I'll try my best to keep writing and translating.
Please comment if you have doubts!~Hanna Sch
Ps: in last chapter notes I said Hobi and Nam were in their fourth college year, but it was a mistake! They're actually in the third, only one year above Jimin and Tae. The rest is still the same.

Chapter Text
Honestly, Jungkook doesn't understand how Taehyung can be friends with the guy who seems to be ready to kill Jimin every time his eyes meet him. These last weeks, after the almost fight in Seojin and Yoongi's apartment, the maknae has been present only three times with the two guys in the same place, but all of them felt like fights of the Old West. The first time it happened was at Choi's. That day Jimin, Tae and him were sitting at the table, enjoying their breakfast. Hoseok and Yoongi showed up suddenly and, as soon as they walked through the door, the rapper from Daegu turned around and basically ran away, after looking at Jimin like he was the cause of everything bad in the planet.
The second time, Hoseok warned Jimin that Yoongi would be waiting out of the practice room because the two of them would go to the movies after class. So Jungkook was a little prepared for what was coming, but he was shocked when the rapper pushed Jimin out of the way and walked away acting as if he wasn't there. The maknae can swear he saw a vein pop out of Jimin's neck, but the dancer just ignored his anger and, after saying bye to everyone except Yoongi, he left the practice room.
However, the worst time was definitely the last encounter, and the most recent one too. Specifically because there was no one to stop a fight from happening, if it happened. This time, Jimin and Jungkook were making their way through the campus, waiting for Taehyung to come out of his last class of the day to go to watch a movie -the same one Hoseok and Yoongi had seen and Hoseok recommended them-. But then, they saw the rapper. He was writing texts in his phone, and he looked pissed off. And -as if God wanted death to come get Jungkook in that moment- Jimin bumped into him. The thing got worse when Yoongi realized who was the person that had bumped into him. They started to yell at each other the moment they made eye contact. The youngest idn't know what to do, but he luckily realized he could take advantage of the height and strenght diference with the other two and separated them. Just in that moment, Taehyung appeared and grabbed Yoongi by one of his arms and walked away with him, trying to calm him down. Jungkook stayed with Jimin, and had a hard time calming the small and powerful ball of anger he was. However, he bets it was easier to get Jimin to calm than rather than trying to talk sense into the other hyung.
Oh. And, no. The three youngest weren't able to go to the movies that day.
Now, Jungkook can't stop thinking about those three times he almost witnessed actual murder with his own two eyes, as he watches Tae and Yoongi speaking lively. The three of them are sitting on the floor of the park, eating popcorn. Namjoon's there with them, but he's busy in his own world writing and erasing lyrics from his notebook. Now and then, Yoongi checks what he's writing and corrects him or gives him an advice. But he spends most of the time arguing about stupid things with Taehyung. Hoseok and Jimin are not here right now, 'cause they are perfecting a choreography in the dance studio, so Jungkook feels pretty alone, because he doesn't know that much Yoongi and Namjoon. He's just here because of Taehyung, but has pretty much forgotten he's there.
After a while of witnessing them arguing about wheter there are rabbits on the moon or not ('I strongely believe there are rabbits on the moon' 'don't be stupid, Tae, that's not even possible' 'well, I actually believe it's a concept' 'I thought you were smarter than that, Namjoonie'), Yoongi looks at Jungkook and, for the first time in like, ever, talks to him.
"Hey, thanks for intervening the other day" he says, faking a smile. The maknae answers the same way.
"Well, it really seemed like you guys where gonna rip each other's heads off. I had to"
Yoongi laughs, and this time it looks more real. He looks like he's about to explain himself, maybe talk about how much he hates Jimin, but then his eyes land on Taehyung, and the look on his face softens. Jungkook knows he doesn't wanna critizise Jimin in front of him. Wow, the maknae thinks, it would be so much easier if they weren't friends.
Taehyung doesn't even know what's going on aroun him. He checks the time in his phone.
"Oh, Jiminie just texted me. He says he's waiting at Choi's, you come?" he asks Jungkook.
"Did he invite me?"
"Nah, but it's the same. C'mon" he takes his bag from the ground as he gets up. Jungkook does the same.
"I can't believe this" Yoongi says, offended, when they start leaving "It's the first time in months that we're able to sit down and talk without a smurf in our way, and you leave me. To go with that same smurf!" he complains to Taehyung.
"If you weren't so childish, hyung, things would be different" adds Namjoon, without taking his eyes from his notebook. The other rapper looks at him with hate and hits his arm. Jungkook is sure that must've hurt.
That's another one of the friendships Jungkook doesn't get in this group. Like, he gets they are two similar people, talking about taste and personalities. Well, that last thing not so much, because Namjoon, for what the maknae has noticed about him 'til now, is calm and collected, really smart and respectful. Sometimes Jungkook can't believe he's the same person that writes and raps diss tracks like the ones Taehyung made him listen to. He thinks that, even if he doesn't know him that much now, he admires the way he is and his talents, and he wants to know him more.
Yoongi, on the other hand, is someone who doesn't look at you in the eyes when he's speaking to you -unless he's close to that person, like Jungkook learned from watching him talk with the guys in the rest of the group-, he seems to be cold and distant, but at the same time composes melodies and writes lyrics with so much emotion and sincerity that Jungkook sometimes forgets he's on the other side of the song (Tae has made him listen to his songs too). He still doesn't know how he feels about him: Jimin finally told him why both hate each other and, even though he gets how Yoongi feels, he can't help taking Jimin's side. After all, it's been more than six months since the incident, and Hobi got over it. Can't Yoongi get over it too?
However, Jungkook doesn't see what exactly makes the friendship between the two rappers work. Honestly, they both seem like they hate each other half of the time they spend together. The maknae doesn't understand how two people like them can sit on a studio to make songs for hours without killing each other.
Jungkook turns his head to look at Taehyung to see his reaction after Namjoon's comment, something that had become usual in him. These last weeks he has come out of his room more than ever, and he's been spending a lot of time with Tae and Jimin. Though the eldest of the three is too busy most of the time at the studio, with Hobi, so it's mostly just him and Tae. Jungkook's not gonna lie, things with his hyung are still a little bit awkward, more awkward than how things are going with Jimin -Jungkook spends a lot of time with Jimin dancing, and he believes that dancing is the best way to get to know someone, so he thinks that's what made their friendship develop quickly. He still can't get used to being with Taehyung, despite being with him too much too.
And, however, here he is. He's following again what Taehyung does, without questioning him not even a little bit.
Taehyung bites his lip.
"You know I don't like talking about that, hyung. But, if you want to spend more time with me, I believe you know we meet up every saturday and some sundays at Namseok's" he tells the rapper, smiling widely.
Then, he grabs Jungkook's arm and starts taking him with him to Choi's, after saying bye happily to his two hyungs. The last thing they hear is Yoongi screaming:
"It's not important! I don't even like you that much anyways!"
Tae laughs, but doesn't look back.
Both start walking slowly towards the cafeteria. They walk with their hands on the pockets at the back of their jeans. They have to cross the whole park before arriving to their destiny, and Jungkook has a question stuck in his throat.
"Why are you friends with Yoongi hyung?" he lets our, surprising himself because of how rudely that came out. Taehyung, however, just smiles and looks down. Jungkook bets he was expecting that question,
"It's hard to explain" he starts, but doesn't go on.
Jungkook curses at himself internally for being so curious.
"So..." he incites him to continue.
Taehyung stops in the middle of their walking, and sits on the grass. By now, Jungkook feels that's something he does usually, though he doesn't know if he only does it with him or with everyone else too (really deep inside of him he wishes it's something just with him, but he doesn't know why). He sits next to him. And, even though it feels familiar now to sit every where on the floor next to Taehyung -because they do it basically everytime they're together-, he still feels that knot in his stomach that he usually feels when it's just Tae and him.
"My friendship with Yoongi hyung is complicated" he admits "We're nothing alike, except for the fact we're both from Daegu" he smiles, looking down at his lap, as if he's embarrassed "Maybe that's one of the only reasons why we don't hate each other the way he and Jimin do"
Jungkok doesn't understand. Who wouldn't want to be friends with Kim Taehyung? Maybe he and Yoongi are very different -are different kind of different the rapper and Hoseok share-, but the maknae can't imagine a single person in this world who wouldn't like to have someone as likeable and loveable as Tae in their life. And that's saying a lot, because Jungkook tends to reject anyone who tries to get too close to him when they're talking to him, and hates being hugged everytime there's an awkward silence.
Though it's possible he's being too subjective about this. After all, he doesn't understand Yoongi and Namjoon's friendship, when, according to everyone else, is the strongest and oldest friendship out of the other ones in the group.
Jungkook's surprised to realize that not everyone in the world wants a friend like Tae, but he erases the thought from his mind. Not everyone thinks like him.
"At the beginning we didn't like each other very much. After all, he hates Jimin, as you know... But something happened and I guess my opinion on him changed" Jungkook believes it's the first time he sees Tae this nervous since the time he literally fell into his room "We became close. I think he's a great friend"
"But, did you start being friends out of nowhere? What about Jimin?" he asks, curious. He feels like he's interrogating his hyung.
"Um... I guess he didn't like it at first. We became friends a few weeks after they met. But, honestly, he never hated Hobi hyung and Yoongi hyung that way" Taehyung leans in to be closer to Jungkook, and covers his mouth with his hand, as if he's telling him ultra secret information "Don't tell Jimin I told you, but he only acted tough in front of them. Like, imagine having your spot already sorted out in a dance class in your first year of college, and your speciality being Contemporary Dance in a group of Hip Hop and street dancers. They would've eaten him alive. He needed to make a reputation for himself" he whispers.
He looks like he's done talking. Jungkook's about to ask an intrusive question again, but Taehyung notices it and starts standing up before he can ask anything.
"The story of how me and hyung became friends is for another day" he rushes to say, and takes Jungkook's hand to help him stand up. The maknae's heart beats fast for some reason, and that knot in his stomach becomes stronger.
"Sorry about butting in. You guys just have a lot of story and..." he tries to explain himself, as they both start walking again. They are closer to Choi's than what he thought.
"It's alright" Taehyung runs his fingers through his red hair, looking at Jungkook "I would also want to know things if I were you and stuff like these happened"
They both walk in an awkward silence. This is usually the moment Tae hugs him to try to get rid of the awkwardness, but he doesn't.
"I think I'll nickname you 'Nosey Maknae' instead of 'Golden Maknae'. It suits better"
Jungkook hits him softly in his arm, and the other laughs. Little by little, Jungkook feels the knot on his stomach untying itself.
When they get to Choi's, both can see Jimin and Hoseok sitting at a table next to the window.
And Jimin doesn't look very happy.
"It's not important! I don't even like you that much anyways!"
Yoongi turns to Namjoon again, laughing, and finds himself facing two judgy eyes looking at him from head to toe.
"What?" he asks him. But he knows exactly why the other rapper looks at him like that.
"Have I told you how much you amaze me lately, hyung?" Namjoon begins, and Yoongi knows that what's next is a long speech, what he hates. However, he lets him continue "Honestly, I'm used to being in the middle -or actually watching from aside- of this stupid rivality you have with this individual, Park Jimin. It's been over a year, and I've grown to understand when I have to step back, lay down and just watch and listen to you while you argue about things that look so far away now. It's funny, because at the start I thought I had to intervene, just when Hobi hyung and Jimin began to confirm this so unbreakable friendship of theirs. And it amazed me to see Hobi hyung not doing anything about it. He knew from a start he didn't have to try to get in your head. I personally thought he believed you'd learn on your own way how to let Jimin's mistakes go, just the way he did, and that's why he let you skip dinner and reunions, 'cause he didn't wanna pressure you. With time, I understood that was never the case. I'm sorry I'm the one telling you this hyung, but Hobi hyung never had faith in you. He always knew you'd be this way. Because he knows you and he knows that, behind that shell of inexpresive faces and coldness you have, you actually worry too much. I'd use the word passional. You love too much. Love -whatever kind of love it can be- blinds you. It happens to you with Hobi hyung, with Jin hyung, and it has even happened with me too. You can't think when you love too much, and that's a problem."
Namjoon makes a pause, thinking about what he wants to say after. For some reason, Yoongi wants to listen to his words.
"I don't know if you notice it hyung" he continues, as if he's reciting a text by heart "But the way you act hurts Hobi hyung. He loves you as much as you love him. But he also loves Jimin, even though he doesn't know him like he knows you. And, again, it really amazes me that you can't see how much he's hurting. I hope you understand what you're doing. I'm not asking you to become Park Jimin's best friend, or to pretend you don't hate him. But I think you should give him a chance. You may start accepting him like Hobi hyung did, after knowing the whole story"
Yoongi looks at him, and he doesn't see his reckless friend who loves to rap about how boring old and traditional rappers. Instead, he sees a therapist trying to get into his patient's mind. And he feels like he wants to throw up suddenly.
It's been six months since Namjoon and Jin hyung started to ask him to listen to the 'whole story' about what happened between Hoseok and Jimin. Listening to it will supposedly change his opinion on Jimin. But, will that chage what already happened? Yoongi thinks it won't, because it's impossible. Park Jimin's still a disrespectful little kid who injured the best dancer in the University the moment he stepped a foot on Seoul. No tragic backstory or whatever will change the disgust and resentment he feels towards the Busan boy.
"I'm glad to know you know more about me than myself, Namjoonie" he says sarcastically, trying not to show how pissed he is in reality. He's not trying too hard, though "I would've never guessed I'm the passional type. Did you read my horoscope?"
Namjoon keeps calm, but Yoongi notices he's about to lose it.
"Tell me since when do we know each other, hyung" he asks.
Yoongi doesn't answer. He doesn't need to: he knows Namjoon knows exactly since when they know each other.
They met during Yoongi's first semester in the Seoul's Arts University. Namjoon was still a high school boy, but he never failed to show his passion for rapping every night in the underground battles in the city. That's were they met. The kid's rap caught Yoongi's attention the moment he listened to it -during one of those nights he was wandering around the streets, instead of being in his room back at the campus with his roommate at that time, because he would be meeting Seokjin a few months later, and it wouldn't be until next semester that he'd move with him. After listening to Namjoon rap, he went up to him and they both shared their stories: Yoongi was from Daegu, where he had a Hip Hop group named D-Town, he said he permormed with them sometimes at events back in his hometown. He had decided to attend to Seoul's Arts University after being given a scholarship by one if the University's piano professors, that had heard him play through a video on YouTube (because yes, Yoongi also plays piano). His dream was to be a rapper, and he thought he would have a higher chance to become one in Seoul. Even if he had to work his ass off to pay things for the University and food to keep himself alive, because his parent didn't want to send him money 'cause they were against what he wanted.
Namjoon told him a similar story, but he confessed the was currently on his way of finishing High School, and the he actually lived in Ilsan, but every weekend he left home and rode the train to Seoul to rap on the streets, meanwhile his family thought he was studying at a friend's house so he would be accepted into a prestigious University to become a lawyer or some really boring shit. Namjoon actually wanted to be accepted into Seoul's Arts University, but he believed he wasn't talented enough.
And their friendship started like that, so easily that Yoongi couldn't believe it when, the next day, he found himself texting Namjoon and asking him to work with him in a song. What the other rapper didn't know back then, was that Yoongi had actually asked him this just so he could show Namjoon's talent to the directives of the University, that later decided they had to have that kind of talent in their school.
Namjoon still thanks Yoongi to this day or helping him be noticed by the University. And, still to this day, Yoongi can't understand how is it that he trusted Namjoon so fastly to basically tell him the story of his life.
"I know you very well, hyung, more than Hoseok hyung does, even if you try to deny it" Namjoon continues, a little bit more calmed after the long silence "I know how you are, I know who you are. I may don't know exactly what goes through your head, but you don't even bother to hide it sometimes"
Yoongi thinks the other rapper is wrong: there are so many things he hides to not disturb or worry others. The only things he doesn't keep to himself are those opinions that actually matter, like his intense hatred towards Park Jimin.
"I bet you're thinking about Jimin right now. And, not or nothing, but you spend so much time thinking about him that it's starting to look less like hate and more like you're in love with him" the younger points out, laughing softly.
Yoongi hits the younger easily from where he is on the floor. Namjoon protects himself from his hyung's hits with his arms, still laughing.
"You know? Your comedy is not funny to me"
Namjoon just laughs again at the comment, and looks down again to keep writing on his notebook. Yoongi wants to ask somthing, but he fears that, if he does, Namjoon will start talking again about the love that becomes hatred and the hatred that's actually love, so he doesn't say a word.
"I think you should try listening to Jimin, hyung. There are things you need to know"
"You already said that, Namjoonie. And I think you should stop interfering"
"That's not what I mean, hyung" the younger explains as he rips a page off his notebook and throws it in a plastic bag full of song lyrics that'll never see the light that's next to him "I'm not asking you to become best friends with him or date him. I just think you should know why Hobi hyung left his hate behind, and maybe that'll stop you from almost picking a fight in the middle of the campus"
"How do you know what happened?" Yoongi asks, surprised, because he didn't expect the younger to know about that almost fight that Jungkook ended some days ago.
"A classmate kept talking about how he saw two idiots almost killing each other in the campus the other day, until a freshman ruined the fun" Namjoon remembers "And you just basically admited it was you a few minutes ago, when you thanked Jungkook for intervening"
"That's why you started lecturing me when those two fetuses left?" Yoongi finally asks.
"Is that what you've been meaning to ask me all this time?" Namjoon asks, without taking his eyes off the notebook in front of him, so he doesn't see Yoongi's shocked face "Whatever" the youngest rapper says "I've been working on this song for so long or us to perform in the concert, and I still can't find a way to finish it. I think you should take a look, hyung" he hands the older his notebook.
This is not new to Yoongi, he's used to helping Namjoon with writing lyrics and composing songs, and even doing that by himself. They usually work together to create melodies and write lyrics, but lately they've been doing this a lot, because the date of their concert is closer everyday (it'll be the first time they'll perform their own songs, and the first time they'll show their talent without being in a rap battle). They've been giving everything of them for this concert -Yoongi has even stopped putting the effort he used to put in class, which has not been good for his grades, but no one really needs to know. Namjoon thanks everyday for having saved money from his past birthdays. A few months ago, after a lot of work and help from their friends (Jin and Hoseok especifically), they were finally able to rent their own space, close to the two oldest of the group, to make it their studio. After that, they started working again and started organizing the concert. They've come so far since then.
"You're right, there's something missing" Yoongi agrees, giving the notebook back to Namjoon, ans stroking his chin "And I know exactly who can help us"
Namjoon knows. That somebody is the only person who's always ready to help them with their lyrics or even to rap with them: Jung Hoseok. Or, in that scene, better known by his stage name:
"J-Hope?" Namjoon asks.
"J-Hope" Yoongi affirms, not being able to keep a smile from appearing on his face.
Yoongi loves rapper Hoseok.
Hoseok laughs out loud at the last fun comment Jungkook does before disappearing through the door, next to Taehyung, and leaving Choi's after being with him and Jimin for almost an hour.
Hobi likes Jungkook: he has big eyes, that become two full moons when he's too focused on something or just lost in his own thoughts. But, it's funny, because when he laughs they become half moons. And he also has bunny-like teeth, which look really cute whenever he smiles.
After spending that much time with the kid -without dancing and focused in the dance practice room-, Hobi begins to understand why Jimin and Taehyung like him so much. Mostly he understands why Jimin is always pointing out how cute he is, and why Tae always tries to make him smile. What he doesn't really get now is why Jimin hasn't stopped staring at his empty white cupin front of him, with a frown and sad, really sad lips. He holds his head with one of his hands. And what's even less understandable is why he's been like this since Jungkook and Taehyung came in.
"You don't look so happy for someone that has just seen his best friend" he points out, fearing that he might piss the younger off. Jimin just hums something Hobi can't understand.
The older of the two frowns, and gets up from his place in front of the younger to sit next to him instead. Hobi puts an arm around Jimin's shoulders and pinches one of his cheeks. Jimin shakes Hoseok's hand off his face, without taking his eyes off from the white porcelain cup. Hobi rests his head on the table, next to Jimin's cup, to make him look at him.
"Something's bothering you about Jungkook" he suggests. This makes Jimin look at him. The elder feels he's not wrong.
"You're wrong" Jimin denies, directing his eyes now to the window.
"I'm not" the dancer says again "You texted Taehyungie telling him we'd wait for him here, and you smiled until both of them showed up. I'm sure Tae was not the problem"
"Just leave it"
"I have a theory" Hoseok starts, grabbing Jimin's chin to make him look at him "You're celous"
"Taehyungie is my friend, hyung" Jimin blushes.
"Don't you know what friend's jealousy is?" the other asks, rising a brow.
"Of course I know" the dancer from Busan answers, pissed "And it's not that either"
"Sure, sure" Hoseok laughs "Have I ever told you the story about the time Yoongi hyung and Namjoonie introduced me to their rapper friends?"
Jimin rolls his eyes.
"Yeah, you have. You were excited to meet the other people in the hyung's lives but then you felt like they were replacing you because they had inside jokes and blah, blah, blah"
"I feel like crying now that I know you really pay attention to me, Jiminie"
"Go to the point"
"Thing is, at first I thought I couldn't be thinking in such a possesive and selfish way. Until I realized that I was actually jealous"
Jimin rolls his eyes again and smiles -possibly the first smile Hoseok has seen since Taehyung and Jungkook appeared.
"The best you can do is accept it" Hobi says "Let me remind you that most of the human population is like that"
"Stop trying to help, hyung" the other sighs "I know I'm jealous, I'm not in denial. But I don't like to admit that there are some times that... I just wished Taehyung didn't wanna spend so much time with Jungkook" Hoseok opens his eyes wide "I mean, it's not that I dislike him, but there are some times that I want to be alone with Tae and talk about thing only the two of us know, but he always brings Jungkook with him lately and... I can't speak to my friend in private anymore"
Hobi smiles, comprensive, and hugs Jimin's side.
"However, I love spending time with Jungkookie. And I'm glad Taeyungie is somehow helping him to open up... Am I selfish?"
"Nah. I guess it's normal. I've also noticed how much time Taehyungie and Jungkook have been spending together" Hobi lets Jimin go and goes to sit in front of him again "But I bet it's just because, I don't know if you noticed this, they're so much alike"
Jimin laughs again.
"Yeah. I've also noticed Jungkookie does everything Taehyung does too. It's so cute"
The two dancers laugh a little, thinking about how different the maknae is when he's practicing, comparing it to how loud and talkative he is when he's with the second youngest.
"However, I really think you don't have to worry, Jiminie"
"Yeah, I know" suddenly, Jimin leans on the table, and gestures Hobi to do the same as him so he can he hear him when he whispers: "But I think there's somthing different about Jungkookie"
Hobi frowns, confused.
"What do you mean?"
"Well..." Jimin starts, but he's interrupted by a voice that speaks behind him.
"Hope, I..."
The voice stops talking when Jimin turns around and they both recognize each other. As if God likes to see them suffer -Hoseok included- is the one and only Min Yoongi who's standing next to their table at Choi's. His eyes fly automatically to the Busan dancer, and they both stare at each other for a few seconds. Hobi recognizes something similar to hatred in his hyung's eyes and face palms himself. Then, he starts fake coughing to try to break the eye contact between his two best friends. That catches his hyung's attention, who stops looking at Jimin to finally look at Hoseok and tell him what he meant to say since the beginning.
"Um, yeah... I was looking for you. I texted Taehyungie... He told me you were alone" after saying this, he looks at Jimin again, faking a smile. Jimin just frowns in response "I'll make sure to choke him to death later" he whispers. Hoseok believes he's the only one who's heard him.
"What did you need?" he asks his hyung, to end the awkward silence that surronds the three of them. Yoongi looks at him again, serious.
"Joon and I have been trying to finish this song this last hour. We want it to be in the list of songs for the concert, but there's something missing" the rapper begins.
"So you two decided to swallow your pride and came to ask for Jung Hoseokie's help, huh?" Hobi adds, laying back on his seat and putting his arms under his head.
"Shut up" Yoongi says "But yes, that's exactly the reason why I'm here."
Hoseok thinks for a few seconds.
"Of course I'll help you! When would we get together to finish this famous song, hyung?" he asks, cupping his head with his own hands, looking at Yoongi.
"Joon and I will be in the studio by 3 pm tomorrow if you're okay with that time"
"It's perfect! Tomorrow is saturday. It's perfect for Jimin to join us" the dancer says, smiling.
"For Jimin to what?!"
"For me to what?!"
His two friends look straight at him. It's the first time Jimin speaks since Yoongi appeared. There's a warning in his tone, and his eyes clearly say Hoseok hyung I am going to kill you. He just shrugs and points at the youngest of the three.
"Jiminie is a good song writer. And he can sing too. Maybe he can help with the chorus don't you think?" he says, smiling.
Yeah, he tells to himself, you are a genius, Hobi.
"I don't think this is a good idea" Jimin starts.
"You have no opinion on this, smurf. Hoseok, how much longer do you want to live? I'm serious, because if you really think I'm gonna let this kid in my studio, you won't live a lot more" Yoongi interrupts.
"I bet Joonie wants to know about Jimin's secret talents. Come on, hyung, it's just this time"
"Why would I let Jimin in my studio to distract me with his unbearable presence?"
"Maybe because he's my best friend?"
"Him? I feel so offended right now"
Hoseok laughs. Yoongi just rubs his eyes, remembering his chat with Namjoon earlier. He must stop being selfish. Maybe it's time that he knows the whole story, so he can decide what he feels about the dancer of Busan after listening to it. He looks at Jimin for a second, and feels the hate fill him. Why does Hobi trust him? After all he did to him... Is it possible for someone to forgive so easily? Maybe, if he listens to the whole story, he'll undertand. But, of course, he knows it'll be hard for him to forget the image of his best friend lying on the floor, with tears in his eyes from the pain and an injured ankle for Jimin's fault. Maybe, after all, Min Yoongi's destiny is to hate Park Jimin. Although, honestly, sometimes he wonders what it's like to be friends with the kid everyone seems to love -even the dance students, that didn't like him at first either-. Is it worth it forgiving someone who hurt your best friend? Just so you can go back to spending time with your best friends without having to avoid speaking about certain topics or mentioning certain cames? Yoongi would be lying if he said he doesn't want, with everything in him, to be able to enjoy again those stupid dinners Namjoon, Hoseok and Jin organize every weekend, and laugh with his best friends in the world without having to worry about saying or not bad things about he-who-must-not-be-named. Sometimes giving up and accepting Jimin as part of the group looks easier than anything else.
"You know what?" he finally says "Do whatever you want. I'm heading home. Just don't expect me to show up" he begins walking back to the door without even saying bye to them.
"Wait! You're heading to the apartment?" Hobi stops him.
"How many houses do you think I have here in Seoul, Hope?"
"Perfect. I was planning to go there and check on Jin hyung" he ignores his friend's sarcastic comment, and turns to Jimin "He called me yesterday and said he was dying. When I drove by, it ended up being just a cold. I wanna make sure he's okay, though" he explains to the younger.
"No one cares, Hobi. If you're coming with me, hurry" he says one last time, and then just leaves the place, without bothering to look at Jimin.
"Sure, sure. Just a second" Hoseok says before the other leaves. He returns his attention to Jimin as he gets up from his seat, expecting him to yell and curse at him.
"What are you doing? You want us to destroy Namjoonie hyung's studio?" he simply asks.
"I just want all this drama to stop. I thought that, maybe, if you two spend some time together, you can fix your problems" Jimin rolls his eyes.
"Please don't make me do this" the younger begs.
"Don't worry, Jiminie, it'll all be okay. See you tomorrow" Hobi says before disappearing through the door.
Jimin grabs his head in frustration. He's sure he's forgetting something. But he can't think about that now. 'Cause his life is probably ending tomorrow.
Jimin opens his eyes the next day, and he remembers what day it is when he checks the clock.
It's satuday. He's supposed to try to spend his day helping Namjoon and Yoongi on a song with Hobi. How did he end up here? He rubs his eyes and scratches his head, still laying in bed.
But what is he doing awake at 6 am a saturday when his exciting day actually starts at 3 pm?
"Come on, Jiminie, I said get up" Taehyung shakes one of his feet.
He has a towel over his wet hair, and another one around his waist. Jimin frowns, and directs his eyes to his friend's bed, which is just in front of his, next to the door. There is a blue bag on top of his messy blankets. Taehyung is putting clothes inside it as Jimin watches him, confused. What is he forgetting again?
Then, he sees the bus ticket on Tae's desk, and then he remembers.
"Today's your grandma's birthday" he says. Tae smiles proudly as he folds a shirt clumsily and puts it in the blue bag.
"Yeah, I'm glad you remembered" the younger says happily.
But the thing is Jimin didn't remember it, and he feels terrible. Mostly because he's supposed to go with him to Daegu to meet Tae's family. That's why he woke him up so early. But there's another problem...
"Oh, by the way" Taehyung turns to look at him "Please tell me you remembered to buy the bus ticket fot yourself"
Jimin sits on his bed, and looks at Tae with guilt. Because Jimin didn't think about going to Daegu at first, Taehyung had just brought one ticket to go but, as days passed by, Jimin decided to join him, and told him he'd buy his later. But he forgot.
"I'm sorry, I didn't buy it, I..." he starts, thinking that maybe Tae will undertand the problem, but becomes suprised when he interrupts him, throwing a pair of pants to the floor angrily.
"You said you were coming with me, Jiminie! I bet it's too late now and all the tickets sold out" he pouts, pissed. He doesn't rise his voice as high as Jimin suspects he wants to.
Although they fight regularly and really easily, Jimin doesn't want this to become a heated argument like the ones they have usually. Plus, he knows Tae: he gets mad easily, but he also forgives and says sorry in the blink of an eye. This won't make him too angry.
"Listen, Tae Tae. Next time, I'll go with you. Sorry I forgot about the ticket" he apologizes sincerely, sitting next to Tae on his friend's bed. Taehyung smiles.
"It's alright. I just hope you don't feel bored until I come back tomorrow" he says, laughing.
"Don't worry about me. I actually already have plans for today"
He realizes the mistake he made the moment he sees the surprise in Tae's eyes.
"You made plans when you were supposed to be with me in Daegu? Was it on purpose?" the younger asks, upset.
"No, no" he tries to explain himself, meanwhile he tries not to lose control of the situation.
"I can't believe you forgot about me and went and made plans with someone else!" Tae says, crossing his arms over his chest. Jimin looks at him. Now he is upset.
"Are you kidding me?"
"What?"
"You are scolding me for wanting to spend time with someone that's not you when you are the one that always wants to be with Jungkook instead of me!" he shouts, angry. Taehyung looks at him shocked.
"What the hell does Jungkook have to do in this?!" after saying it, Jimin realizes they sound like a married couple arguing "I mean what the hell are you implying?"
"Oh, come on, as if you don't already know. Whenever I want to be with you, you always bring Jungkook or just say you're busy... with Jungkook! It's like he's you're best friend. And don't misunderstand, it's not like I hate you having more friends. I just want you to act like a friend with me again!"
"We were gonna have our two days without Jungkook but you ruined it. And I'm sorry that you think I'm such a bad friend!" Taehyung yells back, keeping tears from rolling down his face from Jimin's words.
Jimin facepalms himself, stressed out.
"That's not what I meant" he tries to calm down "It just bothers me your hypocrisy, Tae!"
"Oh, then I'm sorry that I like to spend time with someone who I don't have to keep myself from talking about Min Yoongi with. I'm sorry I like to hang out with someone I like who doesn't mind being with Yoongi in the same room, Jimin!"
Jimin hates him for a second. It's not possible that his best friend just said that. Tae looks like he regrets his words.
"I'm glad to know that" the dancer says, hurt, as he lays on his bed again and pulls the covers over his body and even his head.
"What are you doing?" Tae asks him.
"I'll go back to sleep. Good luck with your grandma's party. Tell her I'm sorry for not going. It's just I was busy keeping people from talking about Min Yoongi"
Jimin can feel Tae's eyes on him, and he thinks he's gonna go to him and say sorry when he hearts footsteps. But the sound continues until he hears the door being slammed. When Jimin takes the blanket off himself again, he doesn't see his best friend and his blue bag, so he just closes his eyes to see if he can fall asleep again. But he can't take the argument out of his head. He's never fought like this with Taehyung. There have been door slamming and screams, and even pushes here and there, but they have never exchanged such hurtful words.
He tries to forget everything telling hmself that this is just like many of the other fights they've had.
But it doesn't feel like it. He's angry, and Taehyung surely is too.
He hates feeling that this isn't gonna be easy to fix. I they actually want to fix it, though.
