Miles never thought he would end up chatting to Maya Fey about the Steel Samurai, but stranger things have happened. He sits beside Maya on the couch in the Wright Anything Agency, sipping a cup of tea and talking about his favourite television show.
“Have you read some of the blogs about it on the internet?” Maya says, grinning. “Some of these bloggers are right idiots. They rip the show to pieces and refuse to accept that some of the best episodes are amazing. And it’s a kid’s show anyway, so it’s not that deep.”
Miles smiles. “You make a good point, Maya.”
Phoenix is sat on the other side of the room, leaning against the desk. There is an annoying smile on his face that makes Miles want to roll his eyes.
“What’s that grin about, Nick?” Maya asks.
“Nothing. It’s just… I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship,” he says, and he starts laughing.
Miles glares at him. “Shut up, Wright.”
But, even though he doesn’t admit it, he knows Phoenix may be right. As strange as it seems, he and Maya are quickly becoming good friends. And he knows that isn’t a bad thing.
