Ryuunosuke Naruhodo and Kazuma Asougi sat together on the grass under a tall cherry blossom tree in full bloom; the cool evening breeze removing a few pale pink petals from the tree and blowing them onto the ground or into the water. It was just the two of them, together, watching the sun set over the horizon at the other end of the ocean – the whole thing would have been almost completely silent if not for the breeze, the crashing waves and the cry of seagulls in the distance.
"Er, Naruhodo-chan?" asked Asougi.
Naruhodo turned to look at him—he continued to look out across the ocean "Yes, Asougi?"
"I was just thinking today—we've been going out for a while now, haven't we?"
"Y-Yeah, we have, actually..." It'd been a good few months now, to be truthful.
Asougi then looked down at his feet. "And, w-well, I...I was just w-wondering...w-well if you've e-ever...you kn-know..." It wasn't often that Asougi was ever stuck for words. Well, unless it was something complicated to say (like a tongue twister) or he was anxious, like that infamous public speaking competition...
"Ever...what?"
"I was j-just wondering...h-have y-you ever...?" He gulped. "Have you ever kissed anyone before?" he was finally able to enunciate.
That was a bit out of the blue, thought Naruhodo, and a bit personal, too. Still; it wasn't a question that he wouldn't be able to answer.
"No," he replied, "I've never kissed anyone before. W-Well, not in the romantic way......have you?"
Asougi replied almost instantly. "Mm? Er, n-no. Me neither...I was just w-wondering, is all..." He laughed nervously. "It's just that a sunset always makes me th-think of r-romantic things. Th-That's all..."
Naruhodo's were too. "Yeah, me too..." he replied "like the poems we've studied in English club." He cleared his throat, and said in English: "'Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?'"
Asougi smirked and added: "'Thou art more lovely and more temperate'."
They both chuckled quietly to themselves and sighed as the water sparkled on the deep blue ocean.
"...Asougi-chan?" Naruhodo finally said.
"W-What is it, Naruhodo-chan?" Asougi asked, his nerves still showing.
"You know when you asked me about whether or not I've kissed anyone before..."
"Y-Yeah?" He was thankful that his bandana was helping to conceal his cold and nervous sweat for him; Though it probably didn't help him that his cheeks were the same shade of red as it, though.
"W-Were you asking if you wanted to be more...what's the word...intimate?"
Asougi's breathing was now noticeably heavier, as though he was on the verge of having the worst panic attack in his life. "Oh...er...I...er..." he stammered, not quite sure what to say at all now.
"Asougi," said Naruhodo, resting his hand gently on his boyfriend's shoulder. "It's okay. I was wondering myself, if we were going to be more...intimate."
Asougi took a deep breath and forced himself to swallow the lump in his throat. "Okay, Naruhodo...no...Ryuunosuke?"
"Yes...Kazuma?" It felt weird finally being able to call him by his first name.
"Would you mind awfully giving me our first kiss?" he said with a smile, looking into Naruhodo's deep brown eyes.
Naruhodo smiled as Asougi gently clasped his hand. "Sure," he replied.
They leaned in closely and tilted their heads ever so slightly. With their mouths open a little, they leaned in and kissed gently for a second, before quickly and silently pulling apart to take a quick breath and to admire one another.
Asougi ran his finger along Naruhodo's jawline, before they leaned in and kissed again.
"I love you," said Asougi, breathlessly between another kiss.
"Mm. And I love you too," said Naruhodo.
