Chapter Text
"I don't get it man!" Okuyasu complained at the pixelated Mario moved from the left side of the screen to the right, cautiously jumping over the space in between two warp-pipes. "Whys'it always the girl that gets saved? I mean, I bet she could kick ass if she had her own game!" He commented, moving the little joystick with his thumb as his tongue stuck out in concentration. Josuke flipped onto his front and put down the Shonen Jump magazine he had currently been glossing through. "Well, she's always getting 'napped by that dragon dude so she doesn't have a chance to stand up for herself."
"I don't think the game developers made it so you two could theorize about why Princess Peach is a damsel in distress, it's just stereotypical." Koichi pitched in, sitting cross legged on the bed next to Josuke. They all shrugged in sync. "She's only eight pixels tall and less than that wide, I don't think she needs to have an excessive amount of lore behind her." He finished, as the two taller boys turned to look at him. Josuke grinned. "Man, Koichi, why do you gotta ruin the boy's fun? We're just imagining what's it's like to be a princess." He stated, leaning his hand down to ruffle Okuyasu's pompadour.
Koichi smiled in embarrassment and scratched behind his head. "I was just saying, you know.." He quietly commented, feeling an awkward blush trail onto his cheeks. This had been their fourth sleepover together in the past two weeks, since they had all decided that 'who needs girls, when you have guys like us?' and joined all of their romantic feelings together in something of a happy triangle. Yukako was a bit of a problem, and it was hard to explain to Tomoko at first, but it seemed as if everyone they knew was content with it, even if Rohan had started to see less of Koichi now.
Okuyasu sat on the floor by the foot of Josuke's bed, while both Josuke himself and Koichi sat together, though Josuke had began to lie down at some point or another in the night. The time read 9:31 PM, it wasn't that late he supposed. Tomoko had gone out to meet a recently mourning friend, Shinobu if he recalled, and left money for them on the kitchen counter to order something. Though Okuyasu could cook pretty well, they decided that on 'bros night' it'd jut be better to chill together.
Josuke pulled at the straps of his tank top and sighed, looking up into the ceiling. His free hand ever-so subtly curled around Koichi's waist and pulled him onto his chest like a little lapdog. Koichi didn't protest but instead sort of cuddled up to him thankfully as the sounds of Okuyasu failing to complete the level sounded in their background. Josuke smiled. "Hey, Koichi, you're kinda like the Princess." He stated, and both Koichi and Okuyasu looked up at him in confusion.
"What's that supposed to mean? I know I'm not that feminine, and it's never really said if she's tall or short like me-" Koichi was interrupted by Josuke laughing, it was melodic and rung in his ears so joyfully that he wasn't even upset that he was stopped mid-sentence. "No, I mean, we used to always get you out of shit before." He stated, and Okuyasu piped up. "Oh, yeah! Like when Rohan used Heaven's Door on you for the first time, we had to totally save you from him!"
Koichi blinked. "Wouldn't that make Rohan a fire-breathing turtle-dragon thing?" He asked, and all three of them couldn't help but laugh aloud at the thought of the well-refined mangaka stomping around as a Bowser clone. Okuyasu wheezed, and slammed his hand down on his knee. "Man, he practically breathes fire already, he just needs the body!" They continued laughing, except Koichi, who dimmed it down slightly. He felt a little guilt for speaking this way about a senior, but.. it was true that Rohan could be a little cranky at times.
Eventually their laughing died down and Okuyasu switched off the game console, climbing up onto the bed with his boyfriends and laying down on his back. "Man, I can't believe you and he used to date. Rohan is... well, you know.." He tried to find the right words, and Koichi felt some offense hit him. He folded his arms over his Lucky Land pyjama shirt. "He's what, Oku? He's not perfect, I know, but neither are we." Josuke and Okuyasu looked down in something of guilt, and Koichi suddenly felt his heart sink.
"No, guys! I-I didn't mean it like that, I love you both, I just.. you know.." Koichi looked down at the bed in shame, and Okuyasu and Josuke laughed and sighed, Okuyasu wrapping both arms around his shoulders and pressing him into his chest. "We were just kiddin' around, Koichi. We know you like 'im as your sensei or whatever, and you gotta defend his honor and shit like that." Okuyasu shrugged, and Koichi sighed with relief, leaning into the tanned boy's chest. "Yeah, I still love you guys more than him though."
"And I still think he'd suit being a fire-breathing turtle guy. Hey! If Koichi is Princess Peach, and Rohan is Bowser, does that make me and Oku the Mario brothers?" Josuke suggested, and Okuyasu pumped his fist up. "Bro! That's how we define ourselves, the two bros saving our other bro!" Okuyasu laughed, and Koichi blinked. "But we're all dating each other, wouldn't that be incest if you guys were the Mario brothe-?"
"Then he's the dinosaur dude!" Josuke yelled, sticking out his tongue at the thought of Mario and Luigi together romantically. Okuyasu grinned, but Koichi frowned again. "Wouldn't that be bestiality?" He asked, and Josuke pretended to do an over-dramatic sigh. "Koichi, don't think too hard about it." Koichi giggled softly and nodded, while Okuyasu moved forward and placed a hand on Josuke's shoulder. "Well, he does ride me occasionally."
Koichi and Josuke both looked at each other in embarrassment before all three of them burst out in laughter for what seemed like the third time that evening. Josuke slid off the bed and stretched out his arms. His pompadour was long ago demolished, even though he was still a little self-conscious about his hair being out of his natural style he was getting used to having it down, but only when he was with his boyfriends for now.
"Well, we should probably get something to eat before the pizza place closes, I think Mom left us like.. three thousand something. Enough for us all, I guess." Josuke opened the door to his bedroom and walked out into the lightened hallway, his two bros slash boyfriends following behind as they went downstairs and into the kitchen. Josuke had been right, there were a few thousand yen notes left on the counter as well as the phone number for Tonio's delivery, which they had all simultaneously agreed was probably the best and only stand-user allowed restaurant in Morioh.
Okuyasu leaned against the counter. "Do you think Tonio will give us a discount since we're.. uh, loyal friends and customers?" He asked, and Josuke shrugged. "I could ask, but.. he likes you better than he likes me Oku." He shrugged, and Okuyasu's cheeks turned bright red. "N-Nah, don't say that kind of stuff man. I'm sure he likes us all equally." Okuyasu commented, and even Koichi shook his head.
"You react the best to his food and give pretty good reviews than me or Josuke. I think you're the favorite." Josuke threw over the landline phone to him. "You call him up man, and we'll bargain with him when he gets here." Okuyasu caught the phone and nodded, looking over his shoulder at the number and typing it in, before he could call though. "Hey, what do you guys even want to eat? Well, uh, you know, what kind of pizza?"
Koichi shrugged. "I'm not really picky, I don't mind anything as long as it's not pineapple." Okuyasu and Josuke flinched back. "Pineapple is an okay pizza topping!" Josuke claimed, and Okuyasu looked offended. Koichi sighed and shook his head. "Okay, then get pineapple on half or something. But I won't eat it if there's some pineapple on mine." Koichi stated, and Josuke rolled his eyes.
11:04 PM. After bargaining with Tonio and actually getting a ten percent discount on their food, all three of them had sort of retreated back upstairs to eat a half-pineapple, half pepperoni and some anchovies pizza. Okuyasu had suggested watching scary movies for the rest of the night, and even though Koichi had reluctantly agreed the decision was immediately regretted.
The ending credits of The Exorcist played and Koichi fell on the back of the bed onto Josuke's lap, whose hand had been placed over his mouth. "Man, I really regret watching that puking scene after pizza." He stated, and both Okuyasu and Koichi flinched and shuddered. Josuke stretched out his legs under Koichi and sighed in something of relief that the movie was at least over.
"If I ever get possessed, please never do any of that stuff to me, just.. you know, get Crazy D to heal me or somethin'." Okuyasu asked, and Josuke smiled faintly. "Sure thing, hey, Koichi, how you holding up after that spider-stair scene?" Josuke asked, looking down at his shorter boyfriend and Koichi winced aloud. "I never want any of that stuff to happen to us, even if there is a happy ending."
"Hey, it wont! We don't need to fuck with Ouija boards because we have that creepy 'do not look back' alleyway where Reimi used to be bound to or whatever." Okuyasu piped up to comfort them both, and a sigh washed throughout the room. Koichi turned onto his front and buried his face in Josuke's abdomen, muttering quietly to himself. Though most of it was unintelligible, the words 'I miss her' were clearly heard among the boys. Josuke and Okuyasu looked at each other and then back to Koichi.
Okuyasu grinned and grabbed the pillow at the top of Josuke's bed, and Josuke shook his head repeatedly. But the fun was already gleaming in his eyes and nobody could really say no to Okuyasu's face. Mouthing a 3-2-1 countdown, he smacked the pillow onto Koichi's back mid-mutter which caused him to sit up instantly, headbutting Josuke in the chin and causing the taller boy to fall back on the mattress. Okuyasu laughed aloud and clutched at his sides, knocking down both of his boyfriends with one blow.
Koichi and Josuke winced and looked at each other while Okuyasu laughed at their pain. A glint of mischief entered Josuke's eyes, and Koichi was well-aware of what plan he was conjuring up, and he nodded with a slight hint of determination to rebuild their broken pride. Koichi grabbed the pillow he had previously been struck with as their weapon. Okuyasu, too distracted by his laughing didn't even notice the two. Koichi clambered onto Josuke's shoulders and Josuke stood with pride.
"Freedom for our pain!" Josuke yelled as he body slammed Okuyasu face-first onto the bed whilst Koichi struck him in the back with the same pillow they had used on him. Okuyasu yelped in surprise but everything soon turned into a fit of giggles at their expense, eventually having all three boys lay flat on the back of the bed and sighing. Though Josuke only had a single bed, it had just enough room for the three of them if Koichi slept in between them, which he usually did.
Josuke lay to the right of his boyfriends slash bros and smiled, turning to lay on his side and looking at them in the best view he could, even if he had to crane his neck slightly. These were his best friends, his bros, and his boyfriends. Nothing or nobody could honestly make him happier than these guys. He stretched out his arm but just curled it around Koichi and Okuyasu's shoulders. He looked at Koichi in the middle of them.
Koichi was smart and a little refined, even if he wasn't a delinquent student like him or Okuyasu, he was still one of them. His mom and sister were pretty nice, and even that old dog of his showed them some attention when it bothered. He had respect for a lot of people like Jotaro or Rohan, and despite being raised without a father like Josuke, he had turned out okay.
Okuyasu, on the other hand, was his bro. They'd do every stupid act together, every mistake was never only one of their faults, it was always both. Maybe he depended too much on his older brother when he was alive, but it's not like he had any choice with his mom dying and his dad turning into one of DIO's slave things. Which begged the question, was Okuyasu's dad a stand user maybe Jotaro had fought at some point? He decided not to ask.
"Hey." Josuke looked over at his boyfriends and smiled, moving forward. He leaned over each of them and placed a kiss on either of their lips, thought chaste and quick it showed his equal love for them both. "I love you guys, seriously, more than bromance." He chuckled, threading his free hand through his loose hair and smiling. "We're always gonna be together, no abusive older brothers, or creepy mangakas and girls will ever keep us apart, got it?"
Koichi and Okuyasu looked at each other, and moved forward to kiss themselves. Koichi looked up at the ceiling and hunched up his knees to his chest. "I agree, completely Josuke. We're always going to be together." He stated, and Okuyasu leaned onto his palms and pushed his chest off the mattress, grinning. "Hey, maybe we could get Rohan to write that shit into our faces or whatever?" Both Koichi and Josuke laughed at that statement.
