Ever since he was born, Midoriya Izuku loved music. And heroes, obviously. He would always watch videos of superhero fights or listen to great musical covers. His mother, Midoriya Inko, loved how he would always feel at peace as his ears pick up the music from the speakers of the computer. He met Bakugou Katsuki (who he calls Kacchan), who became friends with him before their quirks manifested. Bakugou’s quirk manifested first. It granted him the ability to produce explosions. Right now, they walk through the woods, just the two of them.
“Wow, Kacchan! You have a great Quirk! I’m so jealous…!” Midoriya looked at Bakugou in admiration.
“Of course my quirk is amazing!” The blonde cocked his chin up in pride. Who wouldn’t be impressed by explosions formed by the hands?
“I wonder what my quirk would be…!” Midoriya said as he let his imagination run wild. He imagined every quirk he could. Some are random. Some are good for heroism. And some are good for entertainment.
“Hey, Izuku? If we grow up, I’ll be the number one hero!” Bakugou exclaimed in cocky pride, as if no one heard him say it.
“Good luck then! But then where will I end up?” Midoriya asked.
“Below me at Number 2, of course!” Bakugou said immediately.
“I want to be like All Might!”
They talked more and more as the sun started to set. They returned to their homes in time.
Days later, Midoriya became 4. He came to school with his mother. They pass by a music shop, when Izuku felt like looking through the glass window. He rushed to the window and saw an old looking music box.
Most would just leave it alone, but he seemed entranced by the musical object. “Mom, can we buy this? Please!!”
Inko could never say no to his child, so she said. “Of course. But only after we get to the quirk examiner, OK?”
Her child nodded and left the box, for they will buy the box later.
After school, they got to the examiner.
He examined Izuku’s toe joint. He found an unusual observation.
“It is possible for him to get a quirk, Ms. Midoriya. But the thing is, this can only manifest if your son finds a certain item. I don’t know what it is too. The chances are pretty low. So, might as well give up. But if you’re lucky enough, it may be right under your noses. Good luck.”
Izuku felt determined. The Midoriyas thanked the examiner and left.
After that visit, they returned to the shop and got the box as promised.
Midoriya seemed ecstatic as he got it.
When they arrived home, Izuku immediately took the box from the shopping bag the store supplied and placed it on the table.
“Mom, how does this work?” He asked.
“Simple! You have to just wind it.” The mother said.
He did as such. The melodies came in as the pins of the wheel strike the comb of the box. He loved the song, as it slowly lulled him to a slumber.
Inko watched his asleep form, loving how he looked. The box played its last note, and something magical happened.
A pink light started to form and started to extend into a ring around Izuku. Inko was in awe, but then, the ring formed into a ring of rectangles. Not normal rectangles, but they were in arranged piano keys. Notes floated around him.
Inko was in shock. ‘Is the music box the item he was talking about…?’
