Chapter Text
Bakugou didn’t wait for her to finish talking.
"You're not what I expected Bakugou-Kun…”
The words echoed around his head, repeating over and over until he wanted to do nothing more than to punch the wall. To let all of his anger out at once.
“Bakugou-kun!” She called out. Bakugou clenched his fists, and took a deep breath.
“What the fuck were you expecting then?” He asked not bothering to turn around and face her. Why had she called out to him as her left? It didn’t matter anymore. It was over, he knew that and he wasn’t at all surprised when she didn’t answer. She was afraid of him now. Maybe she has been afraid of him from the beginning?
Bakugou let out a sigh and ignored the small fading echo of hurt left behind as he walked away. He had class to get to.
It’s not that he had grown particularly attached to her or anything like that. His problem was that it always ended the same way. The same words. The same expression. It was a never-ending cycle. At this point in life it was getting tedious and boring. Why the fuck did he need a girlfriend or Boyfriend anyways?
"Kacchan!"
Bakugou let out an irritated sigh as he feels a headache begin to steadily throb behind his temples. He’s not in the mood to deal with that stupid nerd right now.
"Fuck off Deku," he says glancing at the cheerful freckled nerd. He watches as Deku’s smile falters and gives him a knowing look. Bakugou hates how he’s so easy to read and looks away, focusing on the weathered asphalt instead.
"I don't need your pity," Bakugou informed Deku. He isn’t in the mood for Deku’s stupid sympathy. He isn’t in the mood for anything at all really. He just wants to get to class, do his work and go home.
"You got dumped again," Asui states as she sits down in her seat in front of him. It's not a question, and the ease that she says it with annoys him. He wasn’t surprised that she knew already. No doubt that stupid ex of his had already told half the school, and in a few minutes she’d finish telling the other half. He swept his gaze across the classroom making sure to put as much venom as he can into his look, silently threatening anyone who stared or whispered about him. The voices stopped and people looked away so quickly, he was surprised they didn’t get whiplash.
When he turned back to his desk, Deku was hurriedly whispering at Asui to not bother him. Bakugou scoffed and glared at Deku who could only give him a sheepish smile.
"Che, I don’t really care" he announced ignoring Asui’s steady gaze as she analyzed him with those stupid, creepy eyes of hers. It was obvious that she didn’t buy it, or Deku for that matter, but Bakugou’s determined to make it true. It’s in the past now and it doesn’t fucking matter anymore. .
"You know you could avoid this if you just stop leading them on," Asui said, giving him her back as she began to focus on pulling out her notebooks. Bakugou can feel his eye twitch.
"How the fuck do I mislead anyone?" He asked, a little louder than he meant and rolled his eyes as several students gave a startled jump.
"Calm down Kacchan," Deku said, as he glanced around. He obviously didn’t want Asui too keep talking, and while Bakugou wasn’t particularly keen on hearing her annoying voice any more than he had to, he was curious.
"You have a pretty face. Even with your obvious temper it obviously attracts the girls, and even some of the guys," she said with straight face. Bakugou grinded his teeth and stared out at the flurry of students below. He really didn’t understand her point. Sure he had a temper sometimes, but it’s not like he was ever physically violent. The only exception was really middle school when he pushed Deku around a bit, but the moment Deku started training under Yagi-sensei, the freckled Nerd had put his foot down.
"Asui-chan is right, you know" Deku affirmed, holding his hands up when Bakugou made to argue. Bakugou ignored his annoyance for a second and let Deku continues. "I know you aren't as tempered when you're with your girlfriend or boyfriend, but even if you do care about them, you're more subtle about your affections, and they just assume you don't care,"
"Well they should just stop fucking assuming then!"
"Oh did Rina dump Bakugou?" Great. Fucking great, he thinks and Kirishima throws himself down beside him
"Shut up shitty hair!"
"Please don't add fuel to the fire Kirishima-kun!"
"Oi you brats in the back, stop bringing drama into my class, if you want to argue about your awful love lives, do it outside," Aizawa-sensei suddenly barked out, and Bakugou silently thanked him as the three idiots beside him quieted down.
"C'mon man don't get too down, you're too good for Rina anyways," Kirishima said a few minutes later as consolation, as he pulled out his phone.. "I'll order us a pizza and we can forget all about her!” Bakugou rolled his eyes and pretended to ignore him, even though he was secretly glad for the way Kirishima brushed over things. As annoying as he was, Bakugou had to admit that Kirishima was a good friend.
"Guys!"
Bakugou looked up with a resigned sigh as Uraraka rushed over to them, looking completely unkept and out of breath. It seemed like his wishes for a quiet morning weren’t coming true anytime soon. . .
"You don't look okay Ochako-chan," Asui stated, pulling out Uraraka’s chair for her.
"I'm not," She whined, collapsing in the chair, still breathing all heavily. They all stared at her as she caught her breath, waiting so she could tell them what the fuck was up.
"I really need to look into getting a new locker,” She finally said and for a moment Bakugou was confused.,"
"Ah it's Monday again," Kirishima says, as if he's just remembered that, and realization dawned on Bakugou. Fucking Monday. Of course. Uraraka’s locker was beside Todoroki’s and she has probably arrived too late to avoid the crowd of girls this morning.
"I wonder who this week's girl will be," Asui mused and everyone began to mutter.
"Shut up idiots, you sound like bored housewives," Bakugou said, not really knowing why they cared so much. Unfortunately, they took his statement as an opportunity to drag him into the pointless conversation
"Ah Bakugou-kun, you and Deku are in the martial arts club with him right?" Uraraka asked.
"Yeah so what?" Bakugou said, not at all really willing to talk about that slacker. "It's not as if the waste of space ever bothers to come."
"He skips a lot," Deku affirmed.
"Following the whims of that weeks particular girlfriend, it's no surprise," Kirishima mused
"Speaking of which, didn't you go out with him once Ochako-chan?"
"Ahh Yeah!" She said happily, making Bakugou frown at her flippant attitude.
"Why the fuck you ask him out if you knew he was gonna dump you?" He asked. He knew she was weird but not this much.
"Weeeell, I was sort of curious," she said sheepishly.
"I didn't peg you as that type of person, Ochako-chan" Asui said, and Uraraka waved her hands all over the place like a spaz as she began to explain herself.
"But I mean I get what everyone talks about. He's perfect! He takes you on dates, holds your hand if you ask, and he's so sweet and kind until the end," she said with a dreamy look on her face. Bakugou rolled his at the utter bullshit that came out of her mouth but didn’t bother to say anything..
"So is it true then?" Kirishima asked, "is that what he really says when he breaks up with you?"
Uraraka nodded
"Yeah, he says 'Sorry but I wasn't able to fall in love with you' and it's over."
"Hmm I wonder why he does it?" Deku pondered
"Who cares?" Bakugou grumbled as he got up, wincing at the loud screeching his chair made. Nod even the stupid furniture could give him a break today.
"Huh? Where are you going Kacchan?"
"To go wait for the goddam pizza," he muttered. "I'm sick of you gossiping like a bunch of nosy middle graders."
Not bothering to wait for a response, he stalked off, ignoring any looks he got. Usually, he didn’t mind spending time with the bumbling group of idiots he called friends, but today he simply wasn’t in the mood. At least the weather seemed to cooperate with him today, he thought glad for the cloudy dull day. The last thing he wanted was to stand there in the sun like an idiot while he waited for a stupid pizza.
Bakugou sighed as the morning’s events crossed his mind again. I need to forget about dating anyone, he thought as he tapped his fingers on the brick of the school. He needed to concentrate on school and the Martial arts club regardless. It’s not like he had time to go around dating anyone. He nodded to himself solidifying his decision, just as a car came to halt in front of him. For a moment, Bakugou looked up, thinking it was the pizza delivery, before realizing it was only a limousine. That Todoroki Shouto was getting out of.
"The fuck…" he muttered as he watched the stupid pretty boy slacker gracefully get off.Bakugou had known he was rich, everyone did, but really? A limousine? Bakugou frowned and muttered "show off" under his breath.
"Bakugou-san" Todoroki greeted, probably more out of politeness than anything else, as he leaned against the red brick, typing away rather aggressively on his fancy smartphone. Bakugou hummed in response but he wasn’t sure the other heard him Whatever heated conversation he' was having had him too distracted. Not that he minded, Bakugou came here for the fucking pizza not for a conversation with some irresponsible pretty boy.
Eventually Todoroki turned off his phone with an irritated huff and carelessly let it drop into his pocket, with a delicate finesse that made Bakugou scowl even more. The weirdo leaned against the wall, his shoulder sagging as if he were riddled with exhaustion, before the day had even fully begun.
"Why the fuck are you here so early anyway?" Bakugou asks because he knows Todoroki always makes sure to get here right as the bell rings to avoid the crowd of girls who nearly mauled Uraraka this morning. Todoroki glanced over and stared at him carefully for a few seconds.
"I woke up earlier," is his answer, and Bakugou found himself wondering if that the irritation he felt at the obvious and ridiculous lie was the same one Asui and Deku had felt at him earlier when he told them he didn’t care.
"Whatever you say," he muttered sarcastically. Todoroki ignored him, and Bakugou did his best to keep himself in check. The stupid candy cane’s presence was enough to piss him off, not to mention his stupid attitude.
They stayed there in complete silence as Bakugou waited for the pizza and Todoroki stood there doing who the fuck knew what. Eventually the silence got so irritating, Bakugou couldn’t help but break it.
“Why the fuck do you do that shit anyway? Date someone else every week?”
“Is it really any of your business?” Todoroki said coldly, making Bakugou scowl. On one hand, Todoroki was right. It really wasn’t any of his business.
“Just seems stupid, asshat. Who would accept any confession they get?”
“I do, not that I really need to explain myself to you.”
Bakugou was beyond irritated now. Stupid Todoroki with illogical ideas of romance, he muttered under his breath before glancing over at him. The words left his mouth before he really thought them through.
“Go out with me then.” He’s joking, of course, just to prove a point. There’s no way this idiot is going to actually go out with him, and it’ll prove his point that there’s no way someone can actually accept every single confession.
Todoroki opened his mouth to say something, probably to reject his offer or to concede the argument to Bakugou, but before that could happen, the arrival of the delivery car interrupted him. Bakugou stood up relief washing over him. It took them long enough. He dug into his pocket to pull out the cash only to curse loudly when he realized it was empty. God fucking dammit.
"Uh sir, that'll be 3000¥" the delivery guy states.
"Yeah, yeah, wait a second," he grumbled as he continued to frantically rifle through his pockets, willing money to magically appear. around all of his pockets. Just his luck that he forgot the goddamn money. Today was not his day.
"Here you go," Bakugou looked up in surprise to witness Todoroki handing the delivery guy some money.
Todoroki took the pizza and held it out to Bakugou who was still bewildered as to what just happened. What the fuck? Had Todoroki just...paid for for him?
"Are you really going to make me stand here all day with this pizza?" Todoroki asked in his annoying monotone voice. This snapped him out of his trance and he quickly moved to snatch the pizza out of half’n’half’s grip.
"Why the fuck did you do that?" He asked irritation leaking into his voice. Todoroki just raised an eyebrow.
"I'm sorry, were you planning on stealing that pizza?"
"No, fuck you!"
"That's rather direct."
"Ahgh!" Bakugou growled and turned away before he lost self-control and punched that smug asshole in his pretty face. "Whatever you asshole, I'll pay you back later."
"No need," Todoroki said as he followed closely behind, clearly not getting a clue.
"I'll see you around then," Todoroki said waving and turning around. Todoroki made it sound like that is such a tedious task though, and it made bakugou want to punch him even more. It felt like some supreme being had decided to test his patience today, and Bakugou definitely wanted to know which one if only to tell them to fuck off.
_____
"What the fuck does that asshole want?" Bakugou mutters to himself as he spots a familiar and absolutely irritating face standing by the door. Then he recalled the pizza from earlier. Right he still had to pay that idiot. He quickly grabs his wallet and his phone just so the weirdos he calls friends won't take idiotic selfies on it.
"Bakugou-
"-Here" Bakugou says and unceremoniously dumped a bunch of a crumpled bills into Todoroki's hands. Half’n’half stared at them for a second before he begins to smooth them out. With his job all done, Bakugou was ready to end his association with Todoroki and turned around to go back to class when the other stops him.
"When do you get out of classes?"
"What?"
"What time to you get out?"
"What's that any of your business?" He griped. Todoroki rolled his eyes and placed the neat reorganized bills into Bakugou's breast pocket before snatching his phone away.
"Hey give that back you asshole," Bakugou growled, but all Todoroki did hold it out of his reach typing something on it. He regretted keeping his phone unblocked. He also wanted to know how the fuck Todoroki knew he always kept his phone unlocked.
"Here, now you have my contact info. We can walk home together."
What the fuck?
"Like hell we can. You have practice anyways. Stop skipping that." Then he snatched his phone back and walked into the classroom. Not even a second later he got a message.
Todoroki Shouto: I'll walk you home tomorrow then.
Something clicked inside Bakugou.
"That asshole didn't think I was serious did he?"
