Summary
Shoto was expecting Katsuki and Izuku to date each other sooner or later. Even though he has been in love with Katsuki for years, he knows Izuku would make Katsuki happy. Actually, Shoto was even looking forward to being their best man at their inevitable wedding.
Then, Shoto heard Izuku started dating Ochako, and Katsuki has been rejected, much to Shoto's confusion. Shoto doesn't know what to think as a person who has supported these two for years, but Touya thinks it's time to finally pursue Katsuki.
Or: Shoto was a Bakudeku shipper for years until that ship had sunk, and Shoto decided to finally ask out Katsuki.

When Shouto realizes what he has been doing, he is just shy of being mortified. He will be the first person to tell you that he can be dense sometimes. Living half his life as a spoiled sheltered prince will do that to you. However, failing to notice his own behavior lately is genuinely a new level of foolishness.
Looking back, all five signs were brutally obvious. Shouto had never experienced the five signs of an omega about to go into heat, so maybe he can be excused for not recognizing himself doing them.
OR; five times Shouto doesn't realize he's going into heat and has chosen an alpha for it.. and one time he does.

Toya stood up to gather the dishes, moving to the kitchen to start cleaning them. “Don’t teach him anything stupid, you bird-for-brains.”
“Don’t listen to him,” Keigo tells Shoto. “I’m an alpha; I’m the best person for this job. Now, listen up, Firefly, all of these are gonna be in the test…”
Shoto realises the new development in his and Bakugo's relationship. With Class 2-A's help, he realises that he's being courted.
After all of the effort that Bakugo had put into courting him, Shoto decides to reciprocate the affection. He hopes that if he reciprocates the courting, Bakugo will realise that he wants to be his mate, and that he wants the alpha to put a collar around his neck. The problem is, Shoto doesn't know how to court an alpha.
Who else would he go to for help other than the number two pro hero, who is an alpha himself, and just so happened to be his brother-in-law?

“He’s not fuckin’ hot,” Katsuki grumbles, pinching the bridge of his nose between his thumb and pointer finger. “And it’s a curse, get it right.”

Or, Katsuki buys stupid Deku the best Christmas present of all time, learns to knit purely out of spite, debunks the (totally bullshit) sweater curse, and gains a boyfriend in the process.
