Summary:

In which Kirishima and Tetsutetsu go hiking, and it doesn’t go to plan.

Work Text:

“We’re lost,” Kirishima says.

“Yeah, I noticed that,” Tetsutetsu says, smiling.

He’s right; they are lost. The pair of high school students had thought that a hike through the hills near their city would be an awesome way to spend a few days, especially as neither of their families could afford to send them on holiday, but it hasn’t gone to plan. Their parent gave them a GPS and maps and told them to stick to the trail, but they only managed to for a couple of hours. And now, seven hours into their hike, the boys are lost.

“We must’ve taken a wrong turn somewhere,” Tetsutetsu says, studying the GPS. He smiles. “We’re hopeless, aren’t we?”

Kirishima laughs. “Just a bit.”

“So, what do we do now?”

He shrugs. “I dunno. Just call our parents and wait for them to find us?”

“Isn’t that a bit pathetic?” Tetsutetsu says, looking up at the sky.

“Yeah, I guess. But it’s gonna get dark soon. We either get rescued now, or spend the night out here with no camping stuff and try to find our way back in the morning.”

Tetsutetsu smiles weakly, watching the sky start to go yellow as the sun sets. This wasn’t meant to happen; they were meant to do a huge loop of the valley and get back home before dark. “I guess we bail, then.”

“Good plan.”

Kirishima sends their location to both of their parents, and then they both sit exactly where they are, waiting for someone to come and get them. But it’s getting dark, and Tetsutetsu starts to shiver.

“Here, put this on,” Kirishima says, rummaging through his rucksack for a waterproof poncho. “It’s not very thick, but it’s another layer.”

Smiling gratefully, he pulls the poncho on. “Thanks. Hey, want a hug?”

Kirishima grins. “I’m always up for a hug.”

And Tetsutetsu wraps his arms around his boyfriend, pulling him close. They’ve been dating for a year now, and he loves Kirishima even though he always ends up getting them both into silly situations like this. getting a crush on Kirishima was what made him realise he likes guys that way, helping him discover the identity for him: polysexual. And Kirishima being so openly gay helped him come out, and how he’s proud of his identity and his relationship. So even though they’re both totally lost, he can’t help but smile as he thinks about his boyfriend.

---

Three hours later, Kirishima and Tetsutetsu’s fathers arrive, and they proceed to tell the boys off as they wrap them in blankets and help them back out of the valley.

“I knew you two we’re good enough hikers to do this alone.”

“You could have got hypothermia, you idiots.”

Shivering slightly (they’re not hypothermic but they’re still rather cold), Tetsutetsu and Kirishima hold hands as their dads berate them on the long walk back to their homes. And even though their hike was a complete disaster, the pair can’t quite keep the smiles from their faces.
