Work Text:

His partners are obsessed with American culture, something that tends to exasperate Shouta. Whether it’s inserting grammatically incorrect English into their speech or watching American movies, it is rare America doesn’t come up in their home.

And one evening, Hizashi manages to annoy him by wandering over to Toshinori and saying, “Yo, Toshi! You’re a 24-karat diamond while I’m the 25-cent plastic ring you get out of a coin machine.”

And Shouta stares at him and says, “Seriously? Why are you talking like an American? We don’t use cents. You’re Japanese, Hizashi.”

Hizashi laughs at his little outburst, and Toshinori smiles.

“Yeah, but Toshi’s half American.”

He has a point. Part of Toshinori’s love of American thing comes from how his mother is American.

“Yes, but you’re not Toshi.”

“Oh shut up, Shou,” Hizashi says, grinning.

“Shut up the pair of you,” Toshinori says.

Shouta rolls his eyes. Hizashi giggles. Toshinori sighs.

“I know my American obsession’s a bit annoying, Shou, but I just love it,” Hizashi says.

“I know,” Shouta says. “I’m just tired.”

Hizashi smiles. “I know. But you really are like diamonds, both of you.”

“Sap,” Shouta says, and Toshi laughs.

Hizashi laughs too, kissing them both.
