Work Text:
Mia Fey is an amazing woman. She is a spirit medium, literally able to channel the spirits of dead people so you can talk to them again, which is a power unlike anything Phoenix has ever seen before. She is a skilled lawyer, able to deal with irritating prosecutors and difficult clients, all with a combination of intelligence, skill and the ideology that you should always believe in your client; all of these things make her the perfect mentor. She is stunningly beautiful, and can turn Phoenix into a blushing mess with a single kiss. And Phoenix recently discovered something else to add to the list of Amazing Things About Mia Fey: she has the most beautiful singing voice.
He discovered this one day when the pair were in the car, driving to the courthouse. He sat in the passenger seat of Mia’s car (well, he supposed now they were a couple, it was kind of their car, just like everything else he and Mia owned), flicking through the radio stations. Mia glanced at him like he was an annoying brat, and Phoenix grinned sheepishly.
“Sorry,” he said, setting the radio on a station and leaving it.
It was an ‘oldies’ station, playing music from the 1980s. Even though it’s not exactly modern, Phoenix has always loved this sort of music. And when he heard a familiar opening, Phoenix smiled and began to nod his head.
“Africa!” he said.
Mia smiled, turning up the music. “It is indeed.”
“Do you like this song too?”
She nodded. “Yeah, I love it.”
Phoenix grinned, so glad his girlfriend shared his love of 80s music, especially Africa by Toto. And when Mia began to sing along, his jaw dropped.
Her voice was utterly beautiful.
She was amazing.
Was there anything Mia couldn’t do?
