Work Text:

They find themselves here often.

The dorm room various by week; sometimes it’s Sero’s room, or Kirishima’s room, but often it’s Bakugou’s room. That’s where they are today, at least.

Bakugou’s bed isn’t large by any means, however that means little to the five of them.

Kirishima lays practically sprawled on top of Bakugou, his head buried into Bakugou’s neck and his eyes staring blankly at the wall. The one being used as a human body pillow remains still, with his left arm looped loosely around Kirishima’s waist with his fingers slightly digging into the flesh of his hip.

On his left arm, Kaminari clings to him like a life line, and Bakugou allows it.

Somehow, Ashido finds herself curled in the small crevice between Bakugou and Kaminari. Her head cuddling into Kaminari’s stomach and her arms wrapping around his legs, every so often pressing kisses on his thighs, while his fingers rake through her hair, mindful of her horns.

Sero curls around Kaminari’s body, wedging him against him.

Yes, they find themselves here often.

With the soft glow of moonlight fluttering through the window and the even breaths of unmoving students. It’s quite the relaxing atmosphere.

It’s Kaminari who breaks the silence first. His voice quiet, almost nervous to interrupt the stillness, and it comes out as a choked sob.

“When do you think they stop?” is all he says, fingernails digging into Bakugou’s bicep instinctively.

Bakugou doesn’t say anything on the matter.

“When do we think what stops?” Kirishima asks gently, shifting to free his arm and push back the wild tresses of blond hair. “Are you okay?”

The electric user just nods, lets out a shaky breath and says, “The nightmares. When do they stop?” When no one responds to his comment, he continues. “About the villains and the attacks, about my family,” he rapidly blinks, trying to brush away the tears collecting in his eyes with little resolve, they fall in small droplets onto Bakugou’s arm.

“Sorry,” Kaminari whispers, rubbing his eyes to clear the tears.

“How long have you been having nightmares?” Bakugou asks, ignoring the previous apology.

Kaminari lets out a bittering laugh, and everyone winces at the humorless sound. “About my family? Since I was ten. About the he villains? Since the USJ attack,” he then pauses briefly, “The nightmares about my family are far worse, though,” He admits softly.

Kisses from Ashido’s lips find themselves on his thighs again, “Do you want to talk about it, Kami?” she asks, leaving room for refusal.

“No,” is Kaminari’s immediate response.

Bakugou tuts, “Come on, dunce face, you’ll feel better if you do,”

“Be nice,” Sero scolds instantly, and the only response from Bakugou is a small ‘I am,’

Kaminari laughs again, this time lighter, at the small act of normalcy. “Thanks,” but he hardly knows what he’s showing gratitude for, the rest of them don’t either, but say nothing. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to get so depressing so fast-”

“I get nightmares... about the kidnapping,”

The confession from Bakugou slides Kaminari back into silence.

Kirishima pushes himself up from Bakugou’s chest, to stare down with narrowed eyes, “You’ve never told me this,”

Bakugou shrugs, using his hand to gently pull Kirishima back to his spot against his chest. “They keep me up, I go for runs to clear my mind, but it doesn’t work. It gets worse when they’re about you guys-”

“Wow, Bakubro actually cares about us,” Ashido says, briefly pausing in her ministrations of kisses to make such comment.

“Fuck off racoon eyes, I’m trying to be relatable,” Bakugou hisses, but with no bite to his words, reaching down to flick her horn affectionately, while the rest of the group laughs at the bit of ease.

Ashido giggles, “My bad, please continue,”

“I don’t care what happens to me,” Bakugou admits, his arm curling around Kirishima protectively, and his voice lowering. “But if something happens to you guys, I’d kill the bastards myself. Now tell us, Pikachu,” He turns his gaze towards Kaminari, his eyes uncharacteristically soft, “What’s your nightmares about?”

“I don’t want to talk about it,”

“Don’t talk about your nightmares, tell us about your family then,” Ashido suggests, gently. “You have a little sister, right? How is she?”

“My aunt sometimes sends me updates behind my mom’s back, she’s...doing good. Going to a small private school in the west, she’s wants to be a hero even though, I…” He trails off, his voice cracking, “Even though I left her like that and God, I’m useless, how could I ever be a hero,”

“You’re not useless Kami, don’t say that,” Kirishima instantly shushes, however it falls on deaf ears as Kaminari continues to rant to himself.

“What hero does that kind of damage to their little sister?”

Bakugou hisses, pausing the rant. “You were a kid, and kids can’t control their damn quirks. I nearly blew my mom’s face off when I first got my quirk”

“For some reason I have doubts that it was an accident,” Sero murmurs, his voice heavy with sleep, nuzzling into Kaminari’s hair.

“Yeah, you’re right. It wasn’t an accident,”

“Knew it,” Sero grumbles, “See, Kaminari, you’re already ten times better than Bakugou,”

Bakugou sneers at this, “Get the fuck out of me room,”

“You love me,”

“What if we go visit your sister this weekend?” Ashido suggests, returning the attention back towards Kaminari. “Your aunt could bring her, you wouldn’t have to see your mom at all,”

“You’d do that for me?” Kaminari asks, hesitant.

Kirishima nods enthusiastically, “Of course we will!”

“But don’t think you’re getting off the hook, you’re going to have to tell us about your nightmares eventually,” Bakugou grunts, nudging Kaminari gently with his arm. Kaminari smiles, attempting to ignore the tears that bubble within his eyes.

The room eases back into quiet atmosphere, and Kaminari relaxes back onto the mattress.

“Hey,” Kirishima says quietly, breaking the silence once again. “Do you think we’ll ever be able to live a normal life?” He shifts uncomfortably as the eyes move up to look at him.

Ashido snorts, “Normal? I don’t know her,” and the rest murmur their agreements.

“Normal how?” Sero asks, voice delicate and soft, his hands threading through Kaminari’s hair as he begins to be lulled to sleep.

“I don’t know,” Kirishima shrugs, moving to push himself up again. “Kids, marriage maybe, anything,” Nervously, he then moves to tug at a red strand of hair, twirling it between his fingers. “We don’t see any heroes in marriages, or with kids, they’re so devoted to their work,”

Lacing his fingers with Kirishima’s, Bakugou hums “Normal isn’t exactly in the job description,”

“I know,” Kirishima admits with a sigh. “Sometimes things get so strange, I wish we could just be normal students,”

A collective of agreements come from the group, minus Kaminari who’s happily dozing off with Sero’s fingers in his hair.

Kirishima settles back down onto Bakugou’s chest, nuzzling his head back into his neck and with a dreamy breath he says, “Let’s all just get married and live on a goat farm,”

Bakugou barks out a laugh, returning his arm to wrap around his waist. “Go to bed, shitty hair, you’re delirious,” He states, but his actions oppose his words as he presses a soft kiss to his forehead.

“We’ll talk about the marriage tomorrow, kay?” Kirishima asks, sleepily.

“Before or after the ethics test Mr. Aizawa is giving us?”

There’s a test tomorrow?!”

Kaminari’s eyes snap open, and his sudden jerk causes both Ashido and Sero to whine.

“Oh, he’s still awake,” Sero deadpans, and Kaminari shoos him.

“That goat farm is looking real nice right now, Kiri,” Kaminari responds with a heavy sigh, dropping back down into his original position and curling into Sero’s body. “We could get some horses too, I like horses,” he pauses, and as an afterthought he says to himself, “Maybe a couple of pigs,”

“Then that’s just a farm, Kami,”

“Guess we’re having a farm, Ashido,”

Bakugou hums, rubbing his gently. “Come on, it’s late let’s go to sleep,”

“It’s only two in the morning, Baku,”

“It’s late, let’s go to sleep,”

Kirishima laughs softly, “I love you guys,”

“I love you,” Ashido whispers softly, curling closer into Kaminari’s stomach. “Goodnight,”

As the rest of the group settles with various goodnights and declaration of love, the silence returns easily to them, and their breaths calm as each of them fall into a deep sleep. It’s perhaps, in these moments, they realized its them against the world.

The only solace they have is in each other.
