Work Text:
“Right, I’m off to the detention centre,” Mr Wright says, double checking his badge is pinned to his lapel. “Athena, can you come with me?”
Athena grins, Widget flashing green. “Sure thing, Boss.”
“And Apollo?”
“Yes, Mr Wright?” Apollo says, perking up.
“Can you look after the office and pick Trucy up from school for me? Oh, and the toilet needs cleaning.”
Apollo stares at his boss, and then sighs, his spiky hair drooping. “Yes, Mr Wright.”
And he stands there as Athena and Mr Wright leave the Wright Anything Agency, about to spend another day doing anything but working as a lawyer.
Apollo loves working for Mr Wright (he’s a good boss and the cases he has worked on are always incredibly challenging), but… sometimes he wishes he could do more. And what is it about Mr Wright and that damn toilet?
Still, it would be pointless to argue, especially now no one is here to hear him. A glance at the clock tells Apollo that he won’t need to get Trucy from her high school (Mr Wright insists someone picks Trucy up, despite her own insistence that she can take care of herself) for at least a few hours, so he might as well clean the toilet.
Soon, the horrible sting of bleach fills his nostrils and Apollo sighs, wishing he could be solving a case right now. But instead he cleans the toilet, and does nothing.
That afternoon, Athena and Mr Wright come back to the office, and Athena slaps Apollo on the back.
“Are you okay?”
He shrugs. “Yeah, I guess.”
“No you’re not. You’re sad. Look, Apollo, I’ve talked to Mr Wright, and we’re gonna alternate who goes with him, okay?”
Realising he won’t be stuck at the office nearly so much, Apollo smiles. “Thanks.”
