Quarter

Summary:

In which Simon is dating Uendo, but is also friends with his alters.

Work Text:

If Simon told you he is only dating a quarter of his boyfriend, you would probably be thoroughly confused. But it makes sense if you know the full story. Uendo has DID, and has three other personalities, called alters, inside his brain. But as Simon is only dating Uendo, there are many times when Kisegawa, Patches or sometimes even Owen are fronting, and even though he physically appears to be with Uendo, his boyfriend isn’t actually there at that moment in time. Not that it matters, because he is close friends with Uendo’s alters.

When Patches is fronting, he giggles a lot and is constantly trying to do tricks with his fan, leaving Simon slightly exasperated (but still smiling). He is silly and friendly, and always eager to do things with Simon; his favourite is playing video games, meaning Simon is often sat playing video games for hours, until Uendo and Patches switch.

When Kisegawa is fronting, she is snobby and perfect at putting Simon in his place. Unsurprisingly, they bicker a lot.

When Owen is fronting, Simon basically becomes a babysitter for this young child, caring for him much like how he used to look after Athena when she was young.

And when Uendo is fronting, Simon gets to spend time with the man he fell in love with. They talk about Rakugo and noodles and Simon’s court cases, and Simon remembers just how wonderful time with Uendo is. Because he honestly hasn’t been as happy as he is dating Uendo since before his life went wrong eight years ago.

And he knows Uendo is glad to be with someone who knows about his DID and accepts him.

So living with Uendo can be confusing sometimes, but Simon doesn’t care. He loves Uendo, and that is all that matters.
