Seokjin held his breath. His face was sweating. He pulled his bandanna down and revealed his face. He could almost feel the creature crawling on his skin despite being a few metres away. The blonde tightened his grip on the loaded gun and pushed back the hair that was sticking on his forehead. Carefully, he peeked out of his hiding spot. He had been keeping an eye on the blood-thirsty creature for so long. Finally, his kill is now right in front of his eyes. He just needed to aim and pull the trigger. He has got only one chance at this. Seokjin saw the beast. It's red eyes glimmered in the darkness, darting left and right, furiously looking around. It was heading right at him. Seokjin knew it could easily smell him, and his accelerating heartbeat wasn't helping either. Seokjin was calculating the consequences in his mind. One wrong step and he would die in the hands of the legendary Alexandrite vampire.
However, Seokjin didn't come to die. He had been well prepared. The blonde was no novice in this field. He had placed numerous devices in this room before luring the vampire inside. Beepers of multiple frequencies, speakers to duplicate the sound and beat of a human heartbeat, you name any modern age vampire-hunting technology and it's there. Seokjin is a certified A grade vampire-hunter who goes by the title Jin the Nightmare, never settling for rewards less than a few hundred thousand dollars. He takes missions with a 100% success guarantee, and he had always fulfilled his words with his killer smile every time.
This is by far the biggest amount of cash Seokjin had ever been offered. He wanted to decline at first, knowing the history and the danger or this type of vampire. He couldn't put his life at stake for money. All his other tasks are always an easy kill so Seokjin didn't have to think twice before accepting. But this one, Seokjin was even contemplating it right now, with the monster's uneven breathing ringing loudly in the room. Seokjin was always confident that he had the upper hand every time he lured a vampire into his traps, but certainly not this time. Most of his prey would have usually have been weakened down by the high-frequency beepers by now, but this one was still steadily walking on two feet. Seokjin had never experienced fear as much as this before, and he didn't like it one bit.
Seokjin braced himself to peek out of his hiding hole again. He stopped leaning forward when he heard a soft chuckle from right behind him. It was near. It was so near that Seokjin had felt the creature's warm breath on the back of his neck. Seokjin didn't think twice and shot right at where the sound came from. His shot missed for the first time in his whole 10 years of hunting.
Loud laughter rang throughout the room and Seokjin couldn't pinpoint where it came from. Fat droplets of sweat formed on his forehead. His hands trembled as he reached inside of his satchel for another silver-lined platinum bullet. This was Seokjin's own invention which he had created upon discovering that some species had developed a resistance towards pure silver bullets. He fished out a bullet from the pouch and tried to place it in the cartridge. Seokjin's hand was trembling. He wasn't good at refilling the bullet at a fast pace and he was having a hard time. He never needed a refill before, but now his life depended on it and he wasn't doing any good at all.
Seokjin slipped the bullet into the cartridge and pushed it up. Much to Seokjin's dismay, it won't budge. "Oh god please," he let out a soft whimper as he tried again, this time harder. He stopped pushing and sighed. His heart almost stopped beating as he felt the cold bullet roll off his fingers. He gasped as the bullet fell on the floor with a loud clink. Cursing under his breath, he bent down and ran his fingers over the concrete floor in the attempt to look for the cylindrical bullet.
"Dropped something?"
Seokjin froze. He didn't dare to look up. The luxurious smell of musk and strawberries wafted in the air and Seokjin gulped. It's here. The smell was slowly drawing Seokjin, wanting him to succumb. But that would mean dying, and Seokjin wasn't prepared for that. In one swift move, he unsheathed the ivory dagger from his belt and swung it at whatever was above him. A loud growl was heard and Seokjin took off, running away for dear life.

The hunter walked into the town with his head bowed down. His bandanna was neatly covering his face.
"Seokjin is back!"
"Finally we are saved!"
"We don't need to worry about the monster anymore!"
The people cheered on as the hunter walked down the path towards the town. He couldn't bear to tell the truth and disappoint them, so he kept quiet. He would need to try again another time. For now, it might be better for them to believe that it was gone. Seokjin gave them a small nod and went back to his motel.
Seokjin sat on the bed with slumped shoulders. He pulled his bandanna way from his face and ran his fingers through his blonde locks in distress. The adrenaline in his veins from the incident before hasn't ebbed yet. His heart was still beating furiously, threatening to jump out of his chest. Seokjin placed his hand on his chest in attempt to reduce rate of his heartbeat. He closed his eyes, deciding to forget it for the day.
Seokjin felt better after the warm shower. He felt refreshed, but the guilt and the defeat were still gnawing at his heart. He intended to call it a day, but his guilt urged him to make more effort on this case. He went to the desk and opened his laptop to do some more research on the vampire. Seokjin wanted to know what it looked like. The townspeople could only report the casualties. No one had survived to be an eyewitness.
"It must be somewhere in here." Seokjin mumbled as he scrolled through the page. All over it was the same thing. Inducing smell, red eyes, typical vampire stuff. Seokjin frowned when he saw an article on the vampire saying that "the moment one laid eyes on the monster would be one's final moment." He also came across some artist impressions of the Alexandrite vampire, some of them having jet black skin, some with black eyes and horns, even some with glimmering green eyes but Seokjin had a hard time believing any of those.
"Awww come on! Do you really look like this?" Seokjin said exasperatedly as he pointed to a picture of a goblin-like creature with skin resembling the greenish-red colour of the gemstone from which its name was derived. Seokjin slumped on his seat and scrolled the search page, in hope for any sort of clue.
A familiar smell penetrated Seokjin's nostrils and cold sweat started forming on his forehead. Seokjin gulped, not daring to look behind.
"That's the ugliest thing I have ever seen." A voice spoke behind him. Seokjin almost jumped out of his skin. The voice was deep, alluring even, but Seokjin only found it to be horrifying. His heartbeat quickened as he felt warm breath brushing on his nape, followed by a low chuckle that sent tingles to Seokjin's spine.
He tried to brave himself up. Still with his back facing the vampire, he laughed a little, although it came out more as a strangled sound. "Well, you certainly look like that, do you?" Seokjin said in a broken chuckle, attempting to calm his heartbeat. Well maybe, just maybe, he could initiate a friendly conversation with the vampire? Who knows, Alexandrite vampires are actually really lonely and just wanted someone to talk to? Seokjin almost cried at his pathetic thoughts. The vampire chuckled. Seokjin felt a cold hand caressing his neck, followed by a throaty laugh.
"Why don't you turn around and find out?" The vampire whispered in Seokjin's ear. The hunter whimpered at the sensation of warm breath hitting his ears, plus he had a really hard time ignoring the vampire's scent. Seokjin blushed as the vampire laughed some more. Instead of turning around, Seokjin kept his eyes shut. "I don't want to see you." Seokjin said firmly. The vampire chuckled again. "Why? I guarantee you, I'm not that ugly. In fact, I'd even say it's quite the contrary." He said cockily. Seokjin scoffed.
"Come on, hunter. Just once glance." the vampire said. Seokjin kept his eyes closed, remembering what he had read in the previous article. He prayed hard that at least that piece of information is accurate. "Come on now..." The vampire cooed. His scent became too overwhelming for Seokjin. Seokjin held his breath, not wanting to drown in the captivating scent. "I fucking need you to look at me and get this over with." The vampire whined. Seokjin chuckled. "Why are you whining? I won't open my eyes forever. Thanks for the tip." Seokjin said. He heard the vampire groan. "Fine. Then I won't leave forever." The vampire said with a huff. Seokjin groaned. "Go find someone else to eat." he said. "Don't wanna." the vampire replied. Seokjin laughed. How childish. He felt all of his fears from before slowly dissipating. "Why?" he asked out of curiosity. "Because you smell beautiful."
Seokjin facepalmed. Is the vampire seriously flirting with him now? How can someone smell beautiful, like seriously. "Do you always flirt on your prey?" Seokjin asked, still keeping his eyes shut. "No, they usually look at me the first time I appear so it all ended quickly." He replied nonchalantly. Seokjin scrunched his nose in distaste. "You should've looked up when I picked your bullet back then. We could've avoided this useless conversation." The vampire stated. Seokjin shrugged. Lucky him.
"Then why don't you appear right in front of me? That way I couldn't help but look at you." Seokjin asked. "I have to appear from the back. That's how Alexandrites work. Somehow. We're very strong on our traditions, you know." The vampire huffed. Seokjin shrugged. As he took a deep breath, he slowly opened his eyes, but still didn't turn around. He glanced at the mirror in front of him and saw a figure sitting on the bed behind him. An idea struck him. “So you can’t eat me if I don’t look at you, huh?” Seokjin smirked as he adjusted the mirror.
"Oh! Oh! You're cheating! You're looking at me through the mirror!" The vampire frowned and tried to move away from Seokjin's line of vision. However, the hunter had already seen the vampire's face and needless to say, he was amazed. The vampire could say the same to himself, actually. He caught a glimpse of Seokjin's face in the mirror and his heartbeat doubled. He never took the effort to see how his preys looked like. It was his first time seeing Seokjin's face, and to say that he was awe-stricken was an understatement.
"Not only you smell beautiful, but you also look beautiful." The vampire mumbled. Seokjin saw the vampire looking down and playing with his fingers. He could almost laugh at how adorable the legendary vampire looked like at the moment. "Hey, you look quite good, actually. You should let more people see you." Seokjin said, still looking into the mirror. The vampire looked at him. "Of course I look good, I'm a vampire. The real mystery is you." he pointed to Seokjin through the mirror, making the latter chuckle.
"Hey vamp." Seokjin called. "Enough with the chitchat. Please leave. I want to sleep." Seokjin said with a yawn. The vampire pouted. "Hey hunter, don't call me 'vamp'. I have a name." He stated. Seokjin raised his eyebrow. "And what makes you think my name is 'hunter'?" He laughed. The vampire laughed as well. "Okay fine. I tell, you tell okay?" The vampire grinned. Seokjin nodded, although he was intrigued by the fact that he is making friends with such an adorable deadly legendary vampire.
"Okay! My name is Jeon Jungkook! Your turn." the vampire said. Seokjin repeated the name with a soft hum. "I'm Kim Seokjin." Seokjin smiled into the mirror. "You're the first human to ever know my real name. Don't you feel lucky?" Jungkook said as he wiggled his eyebrows. Seokjin scoffed. "Snob." He said. "Now go away, I want to sleep." Seokjin said, feeling that his fear of the vampire had completely disappeared. Jungkook crossed his arms on his chest. "Not until I eat you." Jungkook stated. Seokjin shrugged. "Well then. If you insist that much." he said and walked backwards towards the bed, keeping the mirror in front of him.
"You're so clever." Jungkook huffed. "Thank you. Please switch off the lights on your way out." Seokjin mumbled as he went to sleep, leaving Jungkook alone.
____________
Seokjin woke up and stretched his limbs. He remembered his failure and encounter last night. He was determined to try again today, but when he thought of Jungkook’s bunny grin, he started to have second thoughts of killing the vampire. This thought, of course, surprised himself. He is a vampire hunter, of course he kills vampires. And vampires are meant to be charming, it's their hunting mechanism. Seokjin huffed. He needed to get his mind straight. He needs to complete this mission as soon as possible. Seokjin glanced at his gun on the bedside table and reached out for it. He frowned as he imagined having the bullet through Jungkook's heart, making the innocent doe eyes flash in pain. He sighed. He shouldn't have made friends. Now things are getting a bit more difficult for him. He ran his fingers through his hair and wondered where the vampire had gone to. He hoped that it didn't kill anyone last night, because then his lies would be exposed and he could say goodbye to his career.
"Good morning Seokjin." A deep voice greeted him. He almost wanted to turn around in shock, but somehow he managed to stay still. Jungkook giggled. "Almost got ya!" He said. "Come on come on grab the mirror. I want to see your morning face." the vampire instructed. Seokjin groaned but he felt a little bit relieved that Jungkook was still there. He complied with Jungkook’s request and reached out for the mirror on the nightstand. He looked into it and saw the vampire waving at him, grinning happily. He smiled back and saw how funny he looked, with dishevelled hair and swollen eyes. He immediately put the mirror away in disgust. "Aww, I wasn't done yet." Jungkook whined. "Nope. I need to go to the bathroom." Seokjin mumbled and got off the bed. "Oh! Can I come too? I've never been to a human bathroom before." Jungkook said. Seokjin blushed. "N-no! Stay here until I come back." Seokjin ordered before going to the bathroom.
Did he just order the Alexandrite vampire to stay in the room?
Did the Alexandrite vampire ask to follow him to the bathroom? What the hell was he thinking?
Seokjin ruffled his hair in distress and took a quick morning shower.
________
Seokjin wasn't sure if the vampire would still be in his room, but as an act of precaution, he entered the room in reverse. The low chuckle he heard as he entered proved Jungkook's presence.
"Hey, you came back." Jungkook said. "Of course, it's my room. You waited?" Seokjin said. "Of course. You told me to." Jungkook mumbled. Seokjin almost turned around in confusion. He couldn't help but smile. "You would follow anything I told you to?" He asked. "Not if you tell me to go away." Jungkook said. Seokjin laughed. "Like I would tell you to do that." He said. "You won't?" Jungkook asked. Seokjin was also confused. I won't? He wondered. He assured himself that he'd want to keep the vampire here just for the sake of the townspeople. "Yep, I won't." He said reassuringly.
That day, Seokjin stayed inside the room with Jungkook. lt felt weird talking to someone through a mirror, but it also felt pleasant. He was weirded at the fact that a vampire hunter was talking and befriending an actual vampire. But nevertheless, he liked seeing how the vampire's eyes crinkled as he smiled, or seeing his bunny teeth as he grinned. It almost made Jungkook appear harmless and innocent, and it made Seokjin wanting to turn around and just look at him upfront. But he knew he shouldn’t do that yet, since he had only known Jungkook for a day. Vampires are tricky creatures and he had to proceed with great care. Jungkook tapped his shoulder, making the hunter look up into the mirror. "You know, I felt kind of grateful that I didn't kill you the first time I saw you, Seokjin." Jungkook admitted. Seokjin felt a pang on his chest. This is where it gets even more difficult. He thought. Seeing that Jungkook was looking at him with large eyes, expectantly waiting for a reply, Seokjin croaked a small "Me too." with a forced smile.
The vampire watched as Seokjin had his lunch. Human food made him curious. Seokjin saw the vampire eyeing him curiously, so he shoved a box of pizza behind him. Jungkook looked at him. "I can have this?" he asked. "Well why else would I push it backwards then?" Seokjin chuckled as he took a bite off his own slice of pizza. Jungkook opened the box and poked at the content. "I wonder if I can eat this." he mumbled as he took a sniff. He took out a slice and gave it an experimental lick. "Oh! It's good!" He remarked before gobbling the whole slice. He was moving onto the next slice when Seokjin broke into a fit of laughter at Jungkook's positive reaction. Jungkook frowned. "What?" he asked with his mouth full of pizza. Seokjin stifled his laughter.
"Nothing. Here, try fried chicken." Seokjin handed him another box. Jungkook did the same thing. Poked, sniffed and licked. He gave a satisfied hum before proceeding to take a bite of the chicken wing. Jungkook gave Seokjin a thumbs up.
“I, Jeon Jungkook, hereby declare that I love fried chicken!” He announced. Seokjin laughed. “So you don’t have to consume blood anymore, now you’ve got fried chickens.” Seokjin joked, although he was partially hoping that it could be real. If Jungkook doesn’t have to drink human blood, then he could be spared from being hunted. And maybe we could live as a normal person. Seokjin thought. But alas, he knew the reality wouldn’t be that easy.
“Seokjin, we are beings that are under an eternal curse of bloodthirst.” Jungkook chuckled. Seokjin knew that, of course. He’s a vampire hunter for goodness sake. Of course he had knowledge of vampire origins. But he just wanted to believe that maybe it could be controlled. Maybe Jungkook could be saved? “I know.” Seokjin chuckled. “It would be nice if you guys could stop killing people.” Seokjin said. Jungkook looked at him. "W-we need to feed! Just like you guys killing livestock for food..." He mumbled as he gestured to the fried chicken. Seokjin gaped. "You're comparing humans with livestock? We're nothing but food for your kind?" Seokjin clutched his fist as he felt his blood boil. Jungkook's panicked face was apparent in the mirror. "Did... Did I say something wrong...? I'm sorry... To us, humans have no value except as food, and threat when it's hunters." Jungkook bit his lips.
Seokjin sighed. Jungkook was right. Humanity has selfishly decided on its own that they are the superior being, and deems vampires as unacceptable as it threatens their life. Cows and chickens probably despise us as well, but they couldn't do much about it. Humans were on top of the food chain. But after the Earth was cursed, the vampires are now on top and the humans didn't like that. The curse was, in the first place, probably a solution brought to control the Earth's population. Jungkook tapped Seokjin's shoulder softly, pulling him out of his thoughts. "Seokjin... I'm sorry if I offended you...? You... You're more than just food. You're my friend." Jungkook said with a worried look. Seokjin shook his head. “ You were right. It's just that... My mother was killed by a vampire, Jungkook. Hence the reason I became a vampire hunter. Humans may be worthless to your kind, but they may be worth a lot to other humans.” Seokjin said, biting his lips. Jungkook looked at him. “Oh, I’m sorry.” Jungkook mumbled.
“My mother was killed by a hunter as well.” Jungkook said with a shrug. Seokjin widened his eyes. Humans killed vampires because they killed them in the first place. Vampires kill humans to feed. Humans kill vampires to survive. They are two species that goes on killing each other. Who exactly is at fault here? Seokjin wanted to throw up. “We couldn’t help but feed on humans. It is what we were damned to do.” Jungkook said softly. He sounded so sad that Seokjin wanted to turn around and hug him.
Seokjin sighed. “It’s a cruel world, Jungkook.” “I know.” he responded. Seokjin bit his lips. He had never heard things out from a vampire’s perspective before. What he knew was that they are monsters, and they should be killed. Seokjin had even enjoyed killing off vampires, the adrenaline rush that came along with it, but now reminiscing it made him sick. One of his kinds actually had killed Jungkook’s mother, the fluffy, innocent-looking Jungkook who only wanted to survive, and Seokjin bet the hunter would now be enjoying life off the bounty he gained. It made his stomach churn. He looked at Jungkook through the mirror. He had never thought he would have so many similarities with the Alexandrite.
“What happens if you don’t feed?” Seokjin asked. Jungkook hummed. “We’ll die, probably. Shrivel up and rot like a plant out of nutrition.” Jungkook said. Seokjin gasped. “We could survive for about a month without feeding. Don’t worry.” Jungkook grinned. “I’ll be patient and wait for you to turn around.” Jungkook smiled at Seokjin. “Well, don't miss me later if you eat me. They say it's bad to befriend your food.” the latter replied with a laugh.
_____________
Jungkook is now practically living with Seokjin. The hunter is now accustomed with carrying a mirror everywhere and moving backwards whenever he walks. Sometimes, the vampire even warned Seokjin that he was there so the hunter won’t face him by accident. Seokjin wondered why, seeing that the vampire was so enthusiastic of eating him at first. Nevertheless, both of them had adjusted to their new lifestyle, Seokjin ordered doubles of each meal so that Jungkook could eat as well, Jungkook stayed at home whenever Seokjin went out, and they talked more about themselves during their free time. Seokjin would usually move out of a town whenever his mission was accomplished, but he decided that this time, he would stay longer. Well, his mission wasn’t exactly accomplished, was it?
_____________
One night, Seokjin was browsing idly on his laptop while Jungkook was lying on the bed, playing a game on Seokjin’s phone. It was hard to teach Jungkook about the device through the mirror, but the kid was a fast learner. Seokjin stole glances at Jungkook once in a while, a smile forming on his lips as he saw the furrowed eyebrows of the vampire as he focused on beating his high score.
“Don’t stare at me through the mirror.” Jungkook chuckled, catching Seokjin in action. Seokjin felt heat creeping up his neck, being called out like that. “Am not!” Seokjin said. “Yeah, hmm, I’m still waiting for the day that you will turn around.” Jungkook said with a smile. “I’ve lasted for two weeks, and I will last forever.” Seokjin replied. “Then I would stay with you forever.” Jungkook said with a smile, eyes focused on the phone screen. Seokjin felt heat creeping further on his cheeks when Jungkook said that. “As you wish.” He mumbled, averting his gaze back to the computer screen.
Seokjin felt an intense gaze on his skin and he cleared his throat. “Well, at least I stared through a mirror.” He said sassily. Jungkook laughed. “How did you know?” Jungkook asked. Seokjin rolled his eyes. “I could practically feel your eyes on my skin. It’s creepy.” he said. “Psychic.” Jungkook said. Seokjin shrugged. “Well, it is Jin the Nightmare, after all. 6th sense is kinda my thing.” Jungkook laughed and raised his hands, signalling surrender. "Hahaha, alright, you caught me." He said before going back to his game.
After a few while, Seokjin glanced into the mirror again and their eyes met. Seokjin coughed, trying to hide the fact that he was flustered. Jungkook laughed. They stopped laughing and looked into each other’s eyes in the mirror again. Jungkook’s smile fell, lips forming a more serious expression. He looked at Seokjin with an intense gaze. Seokjin returned the gaze with equal intensity, although he was quite unsure of what it meant.
Jungkook placed the phone on the bed and stood up. Seokjin widened his eyes as he saw the vampire approaching him. Closer, closer and closer until his scent became too overwhelming for Seokjin. The hunter just wanted to embrace the vampire and let himself fall in the hands of the Alexandrite. Seokjin closed his eyes and tried to calm himself down. His breath hitched when he felt a pair of strong hands engulfing him from his back.
“What is this feeling, Seokjin?” Jungkook asked, his voice quivering.
“I-I don’t know.” Seokjin answered, still with his eyes shut. Seokjin truly didn't. Was it fondness? Was it friendship? Was it more? He wanted to look into Jungkook’s eyes. He wanted to drown in its depth, and put a name to his feelings. He knew if he opened his eyes and saw the younger right now, he would’ve turned around and give in to him instantly. He couldn’t afford to do that. He didn’t want to die. But Jungkook’s touch was convincing him to trust the vampire.
“Seokjin, I want to see your face.” Jungkook pleaded.
“Aren’t you seeing it every day?” Seokjin asked, his lips trembling. Jungkook please don’t do this. Please don’t push me further.
“I want to see it in front of me. I want to touch it.” Jungkook said.
Seokjin bit his lips. A tear fell down his cheek. He was so near to the cliff that it only takes a gentle push for him to fall.
“Please trust me.” Jungkook said in a soft voice, his fingers caressing Seokjin’s face from behind.
That was the final push. Seokjin didn’t care anymore. He stood up from the stool and turned around. His eyes were still shut and his lips were trembling. Seokjin clenched his fists. The emotions were overwhelming and the tears didn’t stop. Jungkook wiped a tear from Seokjin’s cheek with his fingers.
“I knew it. You’re beautiful.” Jungkook said. Seokjin bit his lips, his eyes remained shut.
Seokjin’s eyes fluttered open the moment he felt a pair of cold lips on his. Jungkook moved his skilful lips against Seokjin’s and the blonde’s eyes immediately closed again. Seokjin could feel himself melting into the kiss, despite Jungkook’s lips being cold. Soon enough, he found himself willingly kissing the vampire back. Seokjin wrapped his arms around Jungkooks waist, pulling him closer.
They pulled away after a while and Seokjin panted out of breath. The kiss was perfect. It was full of emotions and feelings. It made Seokjin’s tears fell once again. He sat on the bed and sobbed. Jungkook stood up in front of him. He took hold of Seokjin’s hand and squeezed it.
“Look at me.” Jungkook said. Seokjin hesitated. Jungkook placed a finger under Seokjin’s chin and lifted it. Seokjin complied and looked up, right into Jungkook’s mesmerizing eyes. Seokjin gasped. His eyes were actually a shade of green, with a purple glint under the light. It was really captivating, and Seokjin felt his heartbeat increasing. He could feel all of him submitting to Jungkook, and now he could just let it be. He didn’t care anymore.
He stared into Jungkook’s face for the first time, absorbing all the vampire’s features. He could see that Jungkook was also doing the same. Seokjin let out a chuckle and hugged Jungkook. “I lost. I turned around.” He said softly. Jungkook pulled away and cupped Seokjin’s cheeks, looking into Seokjin’s teary eyes.
“You’re a vampire, I’m a hunter. This is all so ironic.” Seokjin chuckled bitterly. Jungkook caressed Seokjin’s cheeks. “But I fell so hard for you. I don’t care anymore. Eat me. Just let me drown in your arms for a moment, before I die.” Seokjin said, nuzzling into the crook of Jungkook’s neck. “So what if I’m a vampire and you’re a hunter? We could make this work, Seokjin.” Jungkook whispered into Seokjin’s ear. Seokjin sobbed before shaking his head. “We can’t. We’re arch enemies. We kill each other.” Seokjin muttered between sobs. Jungkook patted Seokjin’s back. “But—“ Seokjin held his hand on Jungkook’s mouth.
“It's okay. I gave up fighting my feelings. I lost. I’m ready.” Seokjin mumbled, smiling weakly at Jungkook. He took one last look at Jungkook’s face and inhaled Jungkook’s scent. At least, I would die in the hands of someone I love. Seokjin thought.
“Ready? So soon, Seokjin? I can’t, I can’t. I’m still a virgin.” Jungkook shook his head, cupping his face. Seokjin widened his eyes and blushed at Jungkook’s remark. “NO! I didn’t mean ready for that! I meant—” “Maybe after this you could allow me to follow you to the bathroom and show me how things work, eh?” Jungkook said with a smirk, making Seokjin’s face become a deeper shade. “Uh, you know what, I won’t turn around ever again!” Seokjin crossed his arm on his chest. Jungkook laughed and pulled Seokjin into his embrace. “We'll make this work, Seokjin. Don't worry. Let me look at your face some more.” Jungkook said smiling reassuringly. Seokjin looked into Jungkook’s eyes. Feeling a little bit brave and elated, Seokjin leaned forward and pecked Jungkook’s lips, making the latter grin in delight. “So you love me too?” “No.” “I believe that is the human language for yes.” Jungkook smiled and twirled Seokjin around in his arms.
_______________
Jungkook was laying on Seokjin’s bed back at his house, playing with his own newly bought phone. They went back soon after they got together and Seokjin invited Jungkook to live with him. Jungkook obliged happily, but only if Seokjin promises to let him taste more human foods. Seokjin agreed with his terms, since he considered himself as one of the best cooks that he knew (not that he knew that many people), and Jungkook approved the title when he first tasted Seokjin’s dish. Jungkook was eating and living so normally that Seokjin had almost forgotten the fact that Jungkook was an Alexandrite vampire, and that he had a bloodthirst to satisfy. Seokjin spent days looking for a possible alternative in the modern word, and he soon found one. He went into the room with a huge smile on his face, eager to test his theories.
“Jungkook, I have a gift for you.” Seokjin said with a grin. Jungkook looked up from his phone and scurried towards the blonde. “What is it? What is it? Are you going to give me a collection of your lewd photos?” Jungkook asked in anticipation. Seokjin blushed and held in the urge to kick the excitement out of Jungkook’s voice. “No! You pervert! No, it’s not that; now don’t give me that disappointed look.” Seokjin crossed his arms when Jungkook pouted. “It’s something else. Much better than what you thought.” Seokjin said as he dragged the vampire to the kitchen.
“That’s nonsense, nothing is better than a collection of your lewd photos.” Jungkook snickered, earning a glare from Seokjin. “I should’ve rammed the dagger through your head when I had the chance.” Seokjin mumbled. Jungkook laughed. “Don’t worry; I never did this with others.” Jungkook said. Seokjin hummed, nodding. He felt flattered, knowing that he was Jungkook’s first love experience. However, the vampire had spent too much time on the internet and learnt way too much to be the innocent minded first lover. It would be just a matter of time before Jungkook would come up with a pair of handcuffs and leather straps. That would definitely be the end of Seokjin.
“Here it is.” Seokjin said as he placed a cooler bag on the kitchen table. “Oh, awesome! A cooler bag for my soda! Why is it pink though.” Jungkook said. “Because it’s mine. That’s not the gift, the thing inside is.” Seokjin said, facepalming. Jungkook’s mouth formed an ‘o’ as he unzipped the bag. He took a look inside. There were several packets of chilled blood packs. The sight of the crimson liquid made Jungkook’s eyes glimmer in purple before turning to red. The vampire licked his lips. Seokjin looked pleased at Jungkook’s reaction.
“It would be really bad if you killed people, but I would seriously not prefer for you to shrivel up and die, so… Help yourself.” Seokjin said. “How thoughtful of you.” Jungkook said. His fangs grew double its length. Seokjin gulped. “I’ll leave you to it, then. I’ll be in the living room.” Seokjin said as he excused himself. Jungkook pulled him for a peck before he left. “Thank you so much.” he smiled. Seokjin smiled back. “No problem.” Seokjin said.
Jungkook came out of the kitchen a few minutes later. Seokjin thanked Jungkook for not being a messy eater and for disposing the wastes correctly. Jungkook told Seokjin to never come into the kitchen when he was feeding. So even Jungkook had insecurities, Seokjin thought. Jungkook told him that two packets could last him for a month, maybe 2 weeks if he did vigorous activities. Seokjin got the packets with the help of his friend Hoseok at the hospital, with a certain sum of money of course. He mentioned that the blood packs were to save lives, and it certainly did save lives. Jungkook said he doesn't have to hunt for humans anymore and it made Seokjin felt relieved.
"So vampires could feed off blood packs after all." Seokjin said to himself, making a mental note to propose his findings during the vampire hunter meetings. Jungkook considered working as a waiter at a café, because he always saw them in movies. Seokjin considered leaving his job too, but Jungkook said he doesn't really mind, as he never really felt any emotional connection towards other vampires anyway, and it pays good. "I'll still advocate for vampiric rights. I'll promote blood packs to them before killing them!" Seokjin suggested, making Jungkook chuckle. "The bloodpack salesman, Jin The Nightmare! What the hell are vampiric rights anyway?" Jungkook laughed. "The right to survive! What if there are nice vampires like you out there? We should live together in harmony!" Seokjin insisted. Jungkook smiled and pulled Seokjin into a hug. This person is too precious to him. "Thank you so much for considering us. Thank you." Jungkook mumbled into Seokjin's sweater.
Hence, Seokjin started working as a chef in a restaurant while still hunting for outlaw vampires undercover (and part-time blood packs salesperson).
“Just make sure the next vampire you’re about to kill doesn’t end up being your boyfriend.” Jungkook said. Seokjin laughed.
“Hmm, the blood packs are still not a better gift than a collection of your lewd photos.” Jungkook said nonchalantly, earning a strong smack on the back from Seokjin. "Worth it." The vampire snickered.
_______________
After some time, the rate of deaths by vampires in South Korea dropped significantly. The legends of the Alexandrite Vampire and Jin the Nightmare became merely the talks of people. No one heard and knew what actually happened to them, and some even regarded them as myths, for none knew how Seokjin actually looked like. Sometimes, the two would read about them on Wikipedia and laughed at the false facts. No one knew that the two are actually living together happily at the outskirts of Seoul. It’s ironic; the love of a vampire hunter and a vampire, but it’s possible.
