Work Text:
Midoriya has been acting strangely for a few days now, and Uraraka can’t help but wonder why. Her husband of three years is always on his phone, communicating with people and jumping when Uraraka enters the room.
But when she asks what he is doing, he smiles sweetly and says, “Oh, nothing.”
And this secretive behaviour and outright lying is only getting worse. He was on the phone when she got home from her patrol, but stopped talking mid-sentence and turned his phone off like she caught him out.
Just what is he doing?
Finally, her fears get the better of her and Uraraka storms up to Midoriya when he gets home from his patrol.
“Deku?” she says, making him jump.
“Yeah? Are you okay?”
And as she tries to keep the irrational anger out of her voice, another emotion overwhelms her. She has to fight back tears as she puts her hands on Midoriya’s shoulders and says, “Deku, are you cheating on m-me?” The tears spill over, running down her face.
Midoriya stares at her, horrified. “Ochako, what are you…? Of course I’m not cheating.”
“Then why are you always so secretive and texting people. Please, Deku, don’t leave me,” she says, and even though she’s so angry with him, Uraraka hugs him.
“Oh, Ochako, please don’t cry,” Midoriya says, rubbing her back. “I’m not cheating, I promise. Oh look, it was meant to be a secret, but… I’ve been sneaking around ‘cause I’m planning an anniversary party, not because I’m cheating. I’m sorry I’ve worried you like this.”
Uraraka pulls away, staring at him. “Planning a… party?”
Midoriya nods. “Uh-huh.”
And suddenly feeling like a massive fool, Uraraka laughs out of relief and hugs him tightly. Midoriya looks thoroughly confused by this, but pats her back and smiles.
