Work Text:

The night was chilly, a harsh bite to the air despite the warm time of year.
The small fire the team had made was not burning very hotly, and there wasn’t much wood or anything else to burn in the area. There was also the understanding that if the fire was too big, it might alert the demon army or vampires nearby of their presence. The air was filled with a heavy exhaustion, and not much had been said for several hours as the day dragged on.
Even when all of the shinoa squad had settled for the night, their sleeping bags lined up around the fire, there had been silence.
The tired teens sat or lay in various positions, and regained their strength, even if they weren’t sleeping.
Yuu blinked sleepily, a hot, burning feeling itching his eyes as he stared unseeingly into the small orange flames from where he laid on his side.
He flinched slightly as the heavy silence was broken by a loud laugh from Shinoa, and he glanced over to see the purple haired girl cackling over something an embarrassed Mitsuba had done.
Shaken slightly from his daze, he scanned the little clearing on top of the broken building with minimal interest, his brows furrowing slightly when there was no glossy blond head to be seen.
Yuu scowled to himself. Looks like someone was playing the part of lone wolf once again.
The sleepiness cleared swiftly as he sat up, pushing the small blanket to the side.
“Where’s Mika?” he asked abruptly, the higher tones of his boyish voice cutting clearly across the quiet air.
He quirked an eyebrow as four pairs of eyes turned to look at him.
Kimizuki scoffed.
“He stalked off to patrol the perimeter,” he said, running his hand briskly through his hair.
“so he’s probably across the way on the building next to ours.”
The pinked haired boy gestured vaguely in the general direction the wayward vampire had gone.
Yuu got up, grasping his sword and strapping it to his back.
“Thanks,” he murmured, beginning to make his way over.
Ghostly shadows danced under the strange lighting of a full moon, and Yuu shivered as a bitter wind cut through the thin material of his T-shirt and soft jogging pants.
“Always making stupid decisions...shoulda worn my jacket...but I’d rather die than tell stupid Telephone Pole that his suggestion was right...he always has to-“ Yuu muttered grumpily, only to cut himself off and stop walking as he finally glimpsed his intended target.
Yuu gaze softened as he watched his best friend swing his legs in a carefree way while sitting on the edge of the building.
From where he sat, he could clearly see everything, including the camp, but it the angle made it impossible to see him.
Resuming his quiet steps, he made his way over to the silent boy, and sat down gingerly beside him, uncomfortably aware of how far they could fall should they lose their balance.
Ruby red irises turned to gaze at him, as Yuu took off his sword and harness and placed it on the ground.
He quirked a grin and stuck his tongue out at him.
Mika’s eyes flickered down to watch his mouth and darkened for a brief second, before returning to his eyes, a smile of his own making its way across his lips.
“Yuu-chan, what are you doing all the way over here?” he questioned softly.
Yuu frowned slightly. “Other than the uncomfortably awkward atmosphere as Shinoa once again embarrasses Mitsuba, it was too quiet and too cold. I needed air. What’s your excuse?” he huffed.
Mika tilted his head and smirked.
“I needed air.” he commented, eyes glinting.
Yuu flushed, unsure if it was irritation or the weirdly warm feeling that settled in his stomach from the look on his best friend’s face.
A shiver went down his back, visibly shaking his exterior.
The action didn’t go unnoticed, and now it was Mika’s turn to frown.
“Where’s your jacket?” he demanded, running his cool fingers up Yuu’s bicep.
Yuu rolled his eyes. “At camp,” he muttered. “it’s your fault, you said we would cuddle tonight like we used to as kids.”
A melancholy look overtook the pale boy’s features. “Yuu-chan, my skin is cold, even if we cuddled you’d probably be colder than if you didn’t.”
Yuu sniffed. “That’s a lie and you know it,” he declared. “even when my blood isn’t still running through your veins and warming your skin, you’re still a great wind blocker.”
Yuu snickered as Mika jabbed indignantly at his ribs for the last comment.
Mika leaned back, the seemingly heavy mood from before pretty much nonexistent.
“Alright,” he conceded. “are you still cold now then?”
He lifted his arm in an invitation for Yuu to cuddle under.
Yuu grinned, shifting to move closer, but as he turned, the stone under his foot crumbled, and his body slipped off the edge.
He didn’t even have time to open his mouth in a scream before impossibly strong hands clamped at his waist and swung him back up.
Yuu gasped breathily as he found himself face to face with Mika, his legs on either side of the older boy’s hips as he firmly straddled the vampire.
Yuu gripped tightly at his best friend’s shoulders, mouth open slightly as he panted with the sudden adrenaline rush.
Mika scowled, his hands gripping onto Yuu’s waist tightly as he pulled him closer, if that was even possible.
“Are you trying to give me a heart attack?” he demanded, irises flaring in colour in the dim lighting.
Flustered, Yuu struggled to find a response.
“N-no, I-“
He didn’t have time to reply before Mika suddenly stood up and jumped off the ledge, pulling Yuu with him.
The fear of falling backwards had Yuu tightening his legs around Mika’s waist, his arms winding tighter around the vampire’s shoulders as he buried his face into his neck.
From his spot nestled into Mika, he heard the unmistakable of glass shattering.
Yuu felt as the air sped by him in a flash of vampire speed before suddenly, he was on his back.
The soft give of a mattress beneath him told Yuu that he’d been carried to a nearby abandoned apartment.
Then Mika was above him, uncaring of his personal bubble and staring fiercely at him.
“You drive me absolutely crazy,” he snarled, eyes flashing.
Yuu relaxed under his tight grip and smiled in understanding.
“I get it...you’re hungry right?” he murmured. “that’s why you were sitting by yourself.”
He tilted his head up and to the side, utterly pliant as he offered himself to the angry boy above him.
When nothing happened for several seconds, Yuu chanced a look back at his best friend, who was clearly struggling with something, his brow furrowed.
As he opened his mouth to speak, Mika moved closer.
His fingers slid up Yuu’s chest and up to his hair where they gripped tightly, and he tugged at the hair to expose his neck even more.
As he moved even closer, he dipped his head until his lips brushed against Yuu’s ear.
“Absolutely crazy,” he repeated in a low tone, and Yuu shuddered as a shiver ran down his back.
Mika shifted again, and suddenly his razor sharp fangs were sinking deeply into the soft skin of Yuu’s neck.
Yuu sucked in a sharp breath, and unknowingly his back arched, pressing him closer to the aggravated vampire above him.
His hands clung to Mika’s biceps as he squirmed in surprise.
But then Mika was interlacing their fingers, pushing Yuu’s hands firmly in place above his head.
The soft caress of Mika’s cool tongue on the bite sent a shock through Yuu’s system, and instantaneously his blood was boiling with unexpected pleasure.
His mind fogged, and vaguely Yuu realized that he was just now experiencing the rumoured pleasurable pull of a bite from a vampire to a willing victim.
“Hmm...M-Mika, wha-“ his moan was cut off when unexpectedly Mika dragged his lips from his throat, across his jaw before slanting fiercely across Yuu’s own lips.
“Oh,” Yuu thought faintly, just having the presence of mind to respond to Mika’s persistent mouth.
A thought lazily trailed through Yuu’s mind, just clear enough to give him the strength to push Mika about six inches away from himself.
The two boys gasped for air, their lips red and swollen.
Their gazes met and locked together.
“Hungry, my ass,” Yuu managed hoarsely.
Mika leaned back a bit more, delight thrumming through his entire being.
“Hmm,” he hummed, eyes gleaming. “not for blood.”
Yuu laughed, throwing his head back against the pillow as his eyes closed momentarily.
Then he blinked suggestively up at the older boy through half shut eyelids, tugging him down to himself.
“Then kiss me like you actually mean it,” he murmured against Mika’s lips.
Mika wasted no time.
He took over Yuu’s mouth, his hand running down his waist to grasp firmly at Yuu’s butt, pinching it sharply.
Yuu gasped in surprise, and Mika used the moment to press a deep kiss into Yuu’s mouth, humming in pleasure at the dark haired boy’s submissive behaviour.
He pulled back just enough for Yuu to gulp a short breath before he was pressing in again.
A fair amount of time passed as the blond vampire bent his younger friend to his will, stealing kiss after kiss, his now warm hands rubbing and smoothing over Yuu’s hidden curves.
Mika blinked, and suddenly found himself on his back as a burst of strength from Yuu caused them to switch positions.
Yuu settled over him, gasping for breath harshly.
“You’re crazy,” he exclaimed, unable to stop smiling.
Mika grinned in return, rubbing his palms over the sleek muscle of Yuu’s thighs.
“Only for you, Yuu-chan,” he asserted.
Yuu rolled his eyes. “Whatever,” he muttered good-naturedly. Then he slid off Mika’s hips and settled beside him, burrowing into Mika’s snug jacket.
Mika turned slightly in order to wrap himself around the smaller boy, his skin still hot as Yuu’s blood thrummed through his veins.
“The others will wonder where we are,” Yuu murmured against Mika’s chest.
Mika brushed his lips over Yuu’s forehead. “Let them, they know we’re not dead, that’s good enough.”
“Baka,” Yuu deadpanned. “they’ll cause a ruckus.”
Mika pressed his forefinger across Yuu’s lips.
“It’s one night, Yuu-chan,” he pointed out, wrapping himself more tightly around the feisty boy. “we’ll go back in the morning.”
“Alright, alright,” Yuu acquiesced, closing his eyes. “just one night.”
And for the first time in a long while, the two boys slept peacefully together.
