Work Text:
Sometimes, Momo doesn’t know what she’s done to deserve such a beautiful life.
Right in front of her, she watches as Shoto holds the tiny hands of their sons, explaining to them what the night market is and what kind of activities happen as they look around, curiosity and wonder sparkling in their eyes.
Ever since they found out she was pregnant, Shoto was afraid. He was afraid that maybe he would turn out like his father and that he wouldn’t be a good dad to their kids. But when the twins were born, he’s been nothing short of amazing to them. Always making them laugh, being patient with them, making sure that they know the difference between right and wrong, making sure they know that they are so loved. The list is endless.
It never fails to make her feel complete.
“–mo. Momo?” She’s suddenly pulled out of her thoughts when she hears Shoto calling her.
“U-Uh, yeah?” She asks, slightly flustered.
He chuckles and nudges her a bit. “Do you want some hot chocolate?”
That’s when she notices that they were at a hot chocolate stand.
“Oh, yes, please!” She says with a smile.
He smiles at her and turns to the vendor, holding up four fingers. “Four drinks. Two large ones and two small.”
“Got it!” The vendor says enthusiastically and grabs four cups, juggling them around to show the kids. “Four hot chocolates, coming up!”
He starts by pouring and heating up some milk in a pot and grabbing some chopped up chocolate to toss into the mixture.
Once he finishes the drinks, he hands them to the twins first. “Be careful, alright?” He says and gives them a warm smile. “It’s hot so remember to blow on it a little.”
“Thank you, Hot Chocolate Man-san!” Ichiro says as he takes the drink carefully.
“Thank you!” Keiji chimes in and takes the drink.
They start gently blowing their drinks, the steam getting pushed back and then tickling their faces once again.
“Do you have some mini marshmallows?” Shoto asks as he hands the payment to the vendor.
“Oh, I do! Hold on,” The vendor says and grabs a cup, filling them up with mini marshmallows and giving it to him.
“Ichiro, Kei,” Shoto calls as the boys look up at him. He bends down and holds out the cup full of mini marshmallows at them. “Try these.”
Momo giggles as Ichiro reaches into the cup and takes a handful of marshmallows. Keiji does the same. She pulls her phone out, ready to capture a picture.
“Alright,” Shoto starts, smiling at them softly. “Try putting those marshmallows into your drink.”
The twins follow what he says, and when they see that the marshmallows get smaller and smaller until they disappear, their eyes widen in surprise.
In that exact moment, Momo snaps a picture. With the beautiful lights surrounding them, the steam coming from their drinks and the comfortable family vibe around them, it might be the most beautiful picture she’s taken yet.
“Whoa!” The boys exclaim in wonder. They look up at Shoto with bright smiles. “Can we do that again?!”
Shoto chuckles and holds out the cup again as they grab even more marshmallows.
“You have a good husband there, miss,” The vendor says and gives her a smile as he hands her her drink.
Momo takes it from him and smiles. “I sure do.”
She’s thankful for a lot of things. Like her friends, her parents, a stable job, just to name a few, but she can never be more thankful for her husband and sons.
