A harsh gust of wind blew down the street, sending Inko’s skirt flowing in a flurry around her legs. She really was not dressed for the autumn weather she was currently experiencing. Spring had left her all too soon. Time had really flown by. But how could it not when a little one had joined her nest? Said little one had not been having the best morning, wailing away, and not responding to any of Inko’s solutions. In the end all she could do was go out and have a walk in the stroller with her restless baby.
Tugging her ears close to her head, she trudged on, hoping that when she rounded the corner, she would be out of the wind’s direction. With squinted eyes she turned the corner, and could almost breathe easily when the harsh tugs on her skirt disappeared, almost. Because right as she did so, she bumped right into another stroller. Just her luck.
Frantically she jumped around her own carriage, calling out an “I’m so sorry!” over and over again, as she first checked her own baby, and then the other. Both boys had remained perfectly quiet, staring up at her with wide round eyes. Her own little bunny even shot her a timid smile.
“Oh, don’t worry about it,” the tall blonde woman replied. “Katsuki can handle a little bump, right champ?”
The blond baby boy tried to turn his head around to face his mother, but could only look up at the screen covering the stroller above. His little ears twitched on top of his head, trying to hear his mother’s voice again.
“I’m glad. Izuku seems to be doing good as well,” Inko said softly, eyeing the little kitten in her own carriage. Round green eyes were no longer turned on her, instead focused on the little baby across from him. With ears pointed forward, nose scrunching up lightly, Izuku curiously eyed the other baby, wanting to know more about this other being.
“Oh, he’s so cute,” Katsuki’s mother cried, heels tapping on the pavement as she stepped around her stroller. She crouched down to look closer at Izuku, green eyes now carefully eyeing her. “He looks a lot like you, doesn’t he? With his long ears, and he also has quite a bit of fur.”
Self-consciously Inko rubbed the fur on her own forearm, knowing there were enough people who judged others for being ‘hairy’ as they called it. And seeing such a vibrant and well-dressed woman, Inko expected she must think the same thing. “Y-yeah, Izuku’s father is also a rabbit, so he got both of our genes. We would’ve been surprised if he didn’t have any fur.”
“You must make such a cute couple!” the woman announced first, now lightly rubbing through Izuku’s green curls. The little boy seemed quite pleased at the attention. “For us it was a surprise. It could’ve gone either way. My husband does have quite a bit of fur all over his body, but Katsuki got most of my genes it seemed. Looks most like me anyway, except for the little ears and the little fluffy tail,” the end she cooed at her son, tugging at his ear lightly, though Katsuki seemed very displeased at the gesture.
Lowering her hand Inko let a small smile form on her lips as she realised this woman didn’t care at all about the fur on her body. “Well, I guess that’s not a surprise, considering you’re… uh…”
“Fully human, yeah,” the woman finished for her. “Quite boring nowadays,” she added with a laugh. “It’s a miracle I managed to catch myself a husband as hot as he is, being a wolf and all. And I’m sure Katsuki is going to be one hot wolf someday too.”
Inko let an awkward laugh fill the air, not really knowing how to reply to that. To her it was strange to consider a certain animal type hotter than another. Wasn’t everyone interesting in their own way? Not that anyone would ever call a rabbit hot…
“I’m Bakugo Mitsuki by the way,” the tall woman suddenly said, extending her hand out to Inko. “We should hang out some time and let the little ones play.”
A bit taken aback Inko slowly raised her hand and grabbed her hand to shake once. “I’m Midoriya Inko, and that sounds nice.”

Spread out on a fluffy blanket, Izuku found himself staring into vibrant red eyes. Their colour was so striking, he had a difficulty to look away, and it seemed the other baby felt the same way. Somewhere in the back he could hear the voice of his mother, an annoying distraction when there was something so interesting in front of him. The rough voice of the other mother made his ears twitch. At least he had learned not to grasp at the fluttery feeling. On more than one occasion had he pulled too hard, and had left himself in tears.
Reaching out his little furry hand, Izuku tried to touch the other baby. Swipe his hand over a chubby cheek and feel what the other baby felt like. But his arm wasn’t long enough. Bottom lip trembled, Izuku on the verge of crying, because he could not reach his new playmate.
Before tears could really start falling, the other baby rolled from his back to his stomach, sending a new curious wave through the little rabbit. Clumsily the little blond wolf got on all fours, shuffling forward on hands and knees, until he was right beside Izuku. Bright red eyes stared down at him, an almost dangerous look on his face. But Izuku was too young to recognize.
A hand was lifted a little too fast, instigating a quick quip from the rough mother. “Careful, Katsuki. Izuku is not one of your chew toys.”
The pup looked up at his mother, his ears twitching from curiosity to submission, and back again, still not fully understanding what his mother meant. But he lowered his hand nonetheless and flopped down into a seating position, not looking away from his mother until she had averted her eyes.
When Katsuki looked back down at the flailing baby, he found that grabby hand reaching for his tail. With a little growl he quickly pulled his tail out of reach. He disliked it when people touched his tail, pulling on it as if it was there plaything. Wrapping his little hand around the bunny’s wrist, Katsuki stopped him from scooting his body more towards his tail, a low growl again leaving his lips, baring the few teeth he now had in his mouth.
Izuku looked up at him shock, eyes shimmering with a fresh wave of tears, but when he found red eyes no longer peering down at him, they vanished right away. Instead Katsuki was focused on the point where his hand was touching Izuku’s arm, gently rubbing his little thumb over the fur.
So soft.
As Katsuki’s brain zeroed in on the hairs that adorned the bunny’s arm all the way up to his bicep, he let his whole body flop back down on the blanket to lay down beside the other baby. Wrapping both hands around Izuku’s furry arm, Katsuki eyed Izuku for a second, waiting on some kind of reaction. All Izuku did was look back curiously, ears pointed forward, nose scrunching up slightly. Seeing this as a sign he could continue his ministrations, Katsuki rubbed his little face all over Izuku’s arm, relishing in the soft texture of the rabbit’s fur.
The first thing to reach his ears, was the soft giggle coming from Izuku, flicking his little arm closer to Katsuki to let him do more. The next thing was his mother’s voice, a certain bite to it Katsuki knew all too well. “Katsuki! You can’t just do that!” Her stomping feet on the hardwood floor had Katsuki flatten his ears against his head, waiting for the next harsh tone she would use. In a fast swoop he was lifted from the floor and cradled in his mother’s arms.
“Oh, Mitsuki. Leave them be. Izuku didn’t mind at all, and Katsuki doesn’t know what he’s doing either. They are just getting used to each other.” The other mother sounded much softer than his own, but he couldn’t quite see her face from this far away.
Down below Izuku had his hands lifted up, trying to reach for Katsuki again as his lip trembled. He let out little displeased sounds, whining for his new friend to be brought back down.
With a sigh Mitsuki lowered her child, placing him right beside Izuku. And as she walked away, their little hands found one another again, and didn’t let go until it was time for Izuku to go home.

Throwing with blocks was not really how you were supposed to play the game, but it was how Katsuki preferred it. Seeing exactly how far he could throw them. He could almost hit Izuku if he threw hard enough. But Izuku was not paying attention to him. He was hugging a stuffed animal close to his face, rubbing his chin along the superhero it was supposed to represent. Apparently, it was his new favourite toy. Meaning Katsuki wasn’t.
Another block was thrown at Izuku, this time hitting him against the knee. Ears flopped down first, clearly insulted by the assault, but then Izuku noticed Katsuki pouting and averting his eyes.
Curiously Izuku crawled over to Katsuki, flopping down right beside him, and grabbing at his blond spiky hair. The pup growled when Izuku managed to do so, turning to face his little friend. Izuku was all smiles as he hugged his toy close to his body, squeezing it tightly, and then offered it up to Katsuki. “Da!” he called out, as if to explain what he wanted.
Katsuki pulled the stuffed toy from Izuku’s grabby hands, eyeing it angrily at first. When Izuku kept on looking at him expectantly, Katsuki caved and hugged the toy tight to his face too. Izuku’s scent was the first thing to hit his nostrils. The familiarity of it made Katsuki cling to it longer, rubbing his face along the toy as well.
It was safe to say Izuku did not get his new favourite toy back afterwards.

“What that?” Katsuki spoke, pointing at the vegetable Izuku was currently nibbling on.
“Carrot!” Izuku announced happily, with a mouthful of said vegetable, spewing orange bits all over himself and the kitchen floor.
Ears flopped down on Katsuki’s head suspiciously as he eyed the food. Glancing up at Inko, his ears perked up again. “I like meat,” he stated. Something his mother taught him, because she liked it when her wolves ripped apart pieces of meat.
Inko sweetly smiled down at the boy, already knowing about this trait. It was not the first time she had to babysit Katsuki. His parents had very busy jobs, and often worked overtime during the evenings. And Inko didn’t mind having an extra child around. Especially considering they got along so well. Though she did pay attention that Izuku did not copy too many traits from the little pup. She absolutely loved Katsuki, but he did make her own little bunny a bit rough around the edges.
“I know, Katsuki. But you know we don’t have a lot of meat in the house. Is there anything else you’d like?” Inko offered. On occasion she would prepare some meat for the pup, but really not too often. It felt too strange to handle something like that, when you don’t eat it yourself. She wasn’t even sure she prepared it correctly, but Katsuki always munched away happily. As long as it was on the rare side.
Eying the carrot again Izuku was still munching on, Katsuki slowly lifted his arm and pointed at the vegetable. “I want that,” he said.
Ears pointed forward as Izuku stared back. He had never seen Katsuki want to try anything of his food before. But with a smile he offered up his very own carrot, and let the little wolf take a bite.
Instantly Katsuki’s nose scrunched up, frowning deep at the strange sweet taste that hit his tongue. He looked down at the strange orange stick, his fingers tightening around it. “Do you like it, Katsuki?” Inko asked carefully. Quickly the pup shook his head. “Do you want to give it back to Izuku?” Again Katsuki shook his head, hugging the carrot closer to his body.
Izuku might take after Katsuki in a few ways, there were clear signs that Katsuki also wanted to take after Izuku.

Anxiously Katsuki was rubbing his fingers through the fur on Izuku’s thigh, accidentally touching the bare skin on Izuku’s upper thigh where the line of fur ended. But he couldn’t focus on that now. With his ears flattened on his head, chewing with sharp canines on his bottom lip, Katsuki was waiting to be reprimanded.
Izuku wasn’t sure what had happened. One minute they had been playing at Katsuki’s house, and the next he had heard something break. Katsuki had rounded the corner, whining softly as he cuddled up to Izuku. And now they were seated on the couch, Katsuki’s fingers digging deep into his green fur, as he always did when he was upset. Izuku had noticed that before. Had seen how Katsuki calmed significantly whenever he stroked Izuku’s fur, and truth be told, Izuku enjoyed the way Katsuki’s felt when he petted him.
“Everything will be alright, Kacchan,” Izuku said, the new nickname easily rolling off his tongue now that he used it every day.
Katsuki glared at Izuku, nails digging into Izuku’s skin. “Stupid Deku,” he muttered first. “I broke mom’s award. She’s going to be really mad.”
“Maybe we can fix it,” Izuku offered, looking over at Katsuki hopefully. All he wanted was to make things right. To play with Katsuki again. Run around and have fun.
“We can’t fix it!” Katsuki spat, and then stilled when he heard the front door open, his mother and father casually talking in the hall way. “You’ll stay with me, right?” Katsuki whispered, hand rubbing through Izuku’s fur more urgently now.
“Always, Kacchan. Always.”

Dressed in the same onesies, taken after their favourite superhero, the two hybrid boys sat glued in front of the television. With their afternoon cartoon playing on it, they held tightly onto each other as the villains seemed to be winning, punching down All Might as he crumbled to the ground.
With worried gasps they inched forward, ears perked up as they waited for their superhero to pull back up, and safe the day. He had to safe that pretty cat lady from a certain doom!
When a villain threw a final hard punch, dust flying up to hide away the hero, the two toddlers thought it was over. Izuku’s ears lay flat against his head as tears welled up in his eyes, sniffling when nothing happened for several seconds. But Katsuki was certain All Might was going to win! He just had to! And then that familiar laughter filled the air, making both boys jump and cheer loudly for their hero. They bounced on the couch, laughing when the hero defeated the villains, and saved the cat lady before she perished too.
The cartoon ended rather quickly after that, and therefore Katsuki’s attention for the television, turning around on the couch to glance at his father who was seated at the table. “Dad!” he shouted. “Can we be superheroes too?”
Hiding away a laugh behind his fist, Masaru had to collect himself over the cuteness of the two boys currently glancing at him over the back of the couch, wide green and red eyes staring out at him. “Of course you can, if you work hard enough, and always finish your dinner.”
Smiling widely Katsuki turned back to Izuku. “Then I can be the hero, and you can be the sidekick!” he stated, posing as All Might often did.
“But I don’t want to be the sidekick,” Izuku said with a pout.
Rolling his eyes Katsuki thought about another role, not wanting to deal with a crying Izuku. “Okay then I will be the Alpha male, and you’ll be the Alpha female. You’ll be my wife!”
Izuku smiled gleefully at that, trying to growl at Katsuki, as the other had done so many times, but he simply couldn’t. Still it made both boys laugh, and cling to each other as they rolled down the couch.
Masaru thought about correcting them, but what did it really matter? They were only children.

With ears perched up high in the air, trying the catch every little sound around them, Izuku made sure no one would barge in on them unnoticed. Together with Katsuki they were hiding around the corner of a fenced off house, breathing heavily as they had narrowly escaped their pursuers. With wide smile on their lips they looked at each other, and they glanced around the corner, making sure no one was coming yet. And then again, they made a run for it.
The rush of the game was making Izuku’s heart race as he spotted the other two boys in the distance, screeching when they were spotted. His feet easily brought him forward, his legs made for running, fleeing. Dressed in only shorts and a t-shirt, Izuku was warm enough. Beside him Katsuki wore a coat, scarf loosely dangling around his neck.
“They’re coming!” Katsuki shouted gleefully, giving Izuku a push to run even faster. But right as they wanted to enter a different street, one of the other boys came running out of it, blocking their exit.
Izuku reached for Katsuki’s hand, wanting to drag him along into a different direction, but to no avail, because the second boy appeared there.
“Ha! We got you!” The boy announced, puffing out his chest as he shot them a toothy grin. His gaze then lowered to their combined hands, raising an eyebrow at the gesture. “Why are you holding hands?” he questioned.
The other boy glanced down as well, narrowing his eyes suspiciously. “Yeah, why would you do that?”
Katsuki was fervently stroking the fur between Izuku’s fingers, confusion written all over his face as he glanced from one boy to the other. “Because we’re friends, idiots.”
“Yeah, well. Why are you friends?” the first boy asked, finger now pointed at Izuku. “He’s a stupid bunny, and you’re a wolf. You’re supposed to hunt him. Wolves eat bunnies.”
Surprised by that notion Izuku glanced over at Katsuki, ears lowering as he saw the weird look on Katsuki’s face. They knew each other for so long already, and no one had ever said such a thing to them. Why would wolves eat rabbits? Izuku knew Katsuki liked eating meat, but they would just get some from the grocery store. Hunting was very different.
“Kacchan doesn’t want to eat me,” Izuku defended, but Katsuki released his hand nonetheless.
The other two boys laughed, and then started running into a different direction. “You two are weird!” one of them called after them.
After that Katsuki never held Izuku’s hand again.

“Mom.”
Inko looked up from her pot on the stove, glancing at her son beside her. His long ears were pointed down, lip trembling lightly as he looked up at her with wide green eyes. “What is it, sweetie?”
“Can I be a predator too?”
Seeing the tears spill from his eyes, Inko knew what it was that Izuku had learned at school today. How every hybrid fell into a certain category. “Oh, Izuku,” she murmured, getting down on her knees to hug her son close. “I’m so sorry,” she repeated over and over again.
Because no matter how hard Izuku tried, he would never be the same as Katsuki.
