Chapter Text
“Midoriya Izuku”
Izuku looked up from his stack of paperwork to see the man addressing him, Aritaba kenji great.
“Tell me why the youngest person to graduate from mustafu police academy at the top of the class is sitting here in front of me doing paperwork but not being on the field?”
“What does it matter to you?” Izuku asked as he leaned back in his chair, staring Aritaba down as if challenging him.
“Nothing much” Aritaba said nonchalantly but still looks like he wants to pursue the issue further.
“It’s just weird is all I’m saying” he added as he shrugged his shoulders. As he walked past Izuku he laid a hand on his shoulder and whispered in his ear, “not that a quirkless coward would be of any use out in the field” And there it was, the real reason Aritaba was talking to Izuku.
He was the local douche bag, he had been trying to get a reaction out of Izuku since he started the job a few weeks ago and honestly, Izuku had to almost commend him on his idiotic persistence. But as soon as he saw that he got no reaction he just clicked his tongue and went on his way to finally leave Izuku so that he can finish his paperwork for the day. The sooner he finished the paperwork today the sooner he could go home to his mom's home cooked meal and go into the weekend worry free. He finished the paperwork at 4 pm which was great as that would mean that he’d make it home before 6 if the traffic was not too bad. He stretched out his back and headed to the changing room to change out of his uniform and headed out.
The traffic seems to be fine Izuku thought as he looked around seeing people slugging home and school children make their way home with their friends. He arrived at his bus stop and after waiting for the bus got on it, he took a seat in the back so that he could keep a eye on everyone on the bus. Izuku started dozing off a little when suddenly there was a loud bang, Izuku shot up from his seat took look around him. There were two men hijacking the bus, one of the held a gun while the other was emitting flame from himself.
‘great just my luck’
Izuku slowly reached for his gun in the holster and aimed it first at the gun the man was holding, He cocked the gun and pulled the trigger, the gun fell to the floor with a grunt. Before the fire user could react Izuku warned him that he would shoot if provoked which seemed to deter the man and he withdrew his hands.
“On your knees and hands on your head” Izuku commanded as he walked towards them as they did so, he kicked the gun out of their reach.
“If you will civilians get away from them and someone tell the driver to pull over and call the cops” Izuku asked as someone pulled up her phone and another ran to tell the driver to stop. The bus stopped at the next opportunity and then all they had to do was keep the criminals from running away, luckily they didn’t seem as dumb as they acted as they sat still until a officer came inside and cuffed them. Izuku gave him his statement and got a stink eye when he mentioned that he got his gun on him, which is not exactly violating protocol by having his gun outside of work hours but it was still frowned upon. But Izuku didn’t care he would rather die than be caught without some sort of weapon. then they were back on the bus according to schedule. When Izuku finally arrived at the apartment complex he was so tired that he almost couldn’t find the strength to walk up the stairs, that is however until he smelled his mom’s cooking and suddenly he felt the surge of energy to make it to their apartment.
“I’m home” Izuku announced sluggish as he took of his shoes and dragged himself to the kitchen.
“Welcome back Izuku” his mom greeted him with a smile and chuckled when she saw her son drag himself around the house like a zombie.
“Did you get hit with a zombie quirk on your way home?” Inko teased a Izuku let out a groan for dramatic effect making his mom giggle more.
“No, but I did end up dealing with a bus hijack on my way home” Izuku groaned as he laid on his hands at the dinner table.
“Oh dear, are you okay? Did someone get hurt?” Inko worried as she made her way to Izuku to check for injuries.
“I’m fine mom, I managed to handle it without incident and nobody got hurt” he assured his mom as he grabbed her hands reassuringly.
“Well if you say so dear” Inko said, she kissed Izuku on the head and then continued cooking. Dinner went by as usual and they soon found themselves planted on the sofa watching a weird b-rated horror movie about alien clowns but they both ended crying near the beginning as the dog died. Izuku ended falling asleep somewhere along the way and by the end of the movie was sleeping soundly against his mother, after a while Inko reluctantly slid away and decided to leave Izuku on the sofa as she knew that he would not be able to go back to sleep if she woke him up, he had trouble sleeping again for a while. She draped a blanket over him and kissed him goodnight as she went off the bed herself. Izuku stayed asleep until he was awoken by the smell of eggs and the sounds of his mom getting breakfast ready, groggily Izuku shifted a little and then fell down onto the floor.
‘What the hell??’
Izuku was wide awake now and when he opened his eyes he saw that he was in the living room.
‘Oh, I fell asleep on the couch’
After that brilliant deduction he saw the upside down face of his worried mother come into view, somehow it made her look even more worried than she usually looked.
“Are you okay Izuku? I’m sorry I just left you on the couch because you were sleeping so soundly and I didn’t want to wake you up and I know how hard it is for you to fall asleep again-” his mom worriedly rambled as Izuku sat up and rubbed his back a little.
“Mom it’s okay, I’m fine I’m glad you let me sleep as you said I probably wouldn’t have fallen asleep again if you had” Izuku assured her and he stood and saw that breakfast was ready. They ate in a comfortable silence until Izuku checked the time and saw that it was only 5 minutes until his bus would arrive. Izuku went into full blown panic mode as he grabbed his suitcase and was about to run out of the door when his mom stopped him.
“Izuku dear, it’s Saturday” she simply said.
“Oh god I’m such an Idiot” Izuku chuckled and they spent the next minute laughing after she ushered her son back inside of the house.
The evening went by quickly and soon it was almost time for Izuku to actually go to work this time, he rode the bus to the station and after changing into his uniform sat at his desk to be treated by the new batch of paperwork.
‘great’
When lunch came around a couple of coworkers came to him asking if he wanted to grab lunch with them and him having no reason to deny accepted their offer and found a good looking kebab place down the road to eat at.
“Were seriously going to eat kebab in this heat” yamato asked jokingly as we approached the place making some of them laugh.
“You can wait outside and watch us eat if you want” Chitalee (but everybody called Lee-chan) retorted and Yamato raised his hands up in defeat. When they got seated and finished ordering the gossip began, Izuku swore that they were like schoolgirls but not police officers sometimes. Izuku sat back as he nurtured
his glass of water and gazed lazily out of the window until someone addressed him and dragged him into the conversation.
“I heard you took down bus hijackers alone the other day Midoriya” Lee-chan stated and the other stared at him in awe.
“Seriously? Midoriya did?” Raishu asked looking at him stunned.
“Yeah, it was no big deal really” Izuku tried brushing it off but then yamato put his hand on the table in protest.
“Dude we see you drag yourself home after just doing paperwork moreover even thinking about you taking down two hijackers” Yamato said.
“To be fair paperwork is exhausting” Izuku retorted
“Okay, true” Yamato agreed as he sat down again proving Izuku’s case.
“Hey guys food’s here!” Inuko called out as the waiter brought their food to them. After they began eating they seemed to drop the case altogether to Izuku’s delight as they began gossiping about other things.
“You know Tanaka in the next department?” Lee asked
“Yeah” Inasa answered for them as the others nodded their heads.
“Pregnant” she stated as she pointed her kebab stick forward
“No way” they all gasped.
“Yes way” Lee grinned as she took a bite.
“Did she tell you” Inuko asked curiously.
“No” Lee uttered, her mouth full of food.
“Then how did you find out?” Raishu injected.
“I just feel it in my bones” Lee claimed with a smug look on her face.
“Oh my god Lee” they all gasped in unison, yamashi slapping his face. Rolling his eyes a bit, it was sometimes fun to listen to but most of the time it was just bullshit like this, he started zoning out until one gossip caught his interest.
“Did you guys hear what happened yesterday?” Inasa asked when they were finishing eating.
“No”
“The league is on the move again” he said and some of them froze but Izuku turned his head towards the conversation.
“The league you mean the league of villains?” Yamashi asked and Inasa confirmed it with a nod.
“Your kidding right” Izuku asked hoping it was true.
“They haven’t been seen in three years, not after that incident” Inuko added worriedly.
“No it’s true you guys, one of those nomus were spotted in hosu again” Inasa insisted.
“Hosu? You mean where that UA student died?” someone asked.
“Yeah, Ignemiums brother” someone confirmed then everybody went silent for a bit.
Inuko finally broke the silence with “guess our workload is going to increase then” which led to everyone groining in response and then they began to head back to the station.
Izuku was distracted for the most of the day and didn't get much work done, “Izuku is everything alright?” someone asked worry in her voice.
“Huh?” Izuku looked up to see Inuko.
“You have been spacing out since earlier” Inuko explained.
“I’m fine” he tried assuring her and gave her a small smile.
“You don’t seem fine” she said as she glanced at the red skin around Izuku’s wristbands which Izuku immediately retracted from her sight Izuku didn’t answer, he only stared back at her silently until she gave up with a sigh.
“All right, I give” she said as she raised her hands up a bit and started going back but she stopped first and gave him a look, “If you want to talk you know I’m all ears” she smiled as she returned to her desk.
‘Why does she have to be so nice to me?’
Somehow it started irritating Izuku slightly as he continued to absentmindedly rub at his wrist, he has never before wanted to take these damned things off and throw them into the thrash, but alas it was far more trouble to take them off then to leave them on. Izuku looked at the clock and saw that it was only 2.p.m but he still decided to clock out early as he wasn't doing any good as it is and probably will be useless for the rest of the day.
