Work Text:
Saiki is clearly aware that there are someone's eyes following him closely.
He feels them burn on the back of his head when he gets up to go lunch, and he feels them when he goes past the cafeteria, to Kaidou's shock, and steps out into the field.
The most secluded area of the school is behind the gym. He knows that he'll want to meet in a secluded area anyway.
As soon as he rounds the corner, there's someone who gets in his way. He's not startled, when he feels a pair of arms hug his waist, or when the other steps up close into his personal space.
"It's rude to get into someone's space without permission." He's not annoyed, bothered or uncomfortable, but he still reprimands Kuboyasu for show. He still reflects his agreeability by returning the surprise hug, placing this arms across the other's broad back.
"'m sorry." Kuboyasu rests his cheek against Saiki's shoulder, not seeming to be feeling very guilty. His breath tickles Saiki's neck, and the gentle brush of his lips makes him feel distinctly sentimental. The arms that encircled his waist tighten. "Missed ya."
It was a week and then some. Maybe two. Not that much time at all, really.
That's what he would have said if he could still teleport back to his house whenever he wanted peace and calm, or to see Aren, though that was a more recent impulse. Unfortunately, Saiki couldn't anymore, meaning it felt like time moved torturously slow during those two weeks of summer, while he thought about what Aren would say about the miles of field and the little town his grandparents lived in. He'd probably make it way more interesting than it actually was.
"I know it's only been a few weeks, aight?" Saiki shivers helplessly at the sensation that tickles his neck when the other speaks and Saiki wants to know just when he became such a sap." I know you feel the same."
Saiki isn't sure he was the only psychic in the relationship, but he stopped questioning Aren's incredibly accurate intuitions about him. It just makes him a little saner, he thinks. Saiki relaxes, just a notch, but that's enough for Aren to give himself the liberty of pressing much more firmly against the crook of Saiki's neck, making the gentle and fleeting contact they had before just that much intense. A small laugh bubbles in the back of his throat, but he only let's put a small puff of breath instead.
"You show that by cornering me behind the gym?" To anyone else his tone might have sounded neutral, perhaps a little annoyed, but the sound of an amused huff and the shape of a grin pressing against his neck tells him Kuboyasu caught the bit of humor in his tone.
"'s not like anyone saw us." They can't be sure about that, can they? "Probably won't catch us either."
Yes, that 'probably' just inspired confidence, didn't it? Saiki can't read thoughts anymore, and they are still in school grounds, no matter how secluded. They could be caught at any moment. Then Kuboyasu does something that can only be described as nuzzling and Saiki puts those thoughts on the back burner of his mind. They can afford a few more minutes. It has nothing to do with how Saiki missed the other's touch.
He decides not to respond, as he doesn't have much to say to that and Kuboyasu seems more inclined to lay a few kisses on his neck.
It's embarrassing, but it's also intimate and loving. Maybe once he would have said it was too personal, too invasive, but he doesn't think he was as calm the entire week he was out of town as much as he is here, hiding out from the last dredges of the summer heat with Aren rocking them slightly from side to side to a rhythm only he knows. He realizes he's probably changed, more than he initially thought since the removal of his powers, but now's not the time to think about that.
He knows he has relaxed too much when he jumps slightly the moment Kuboyasu's finally straightened up from his comfortable spot on Saiki's shoulder.
He has a small smile that looks uncharacteristic, yet still charming on him. Saiki is definitely not pouting, as that's childish, and Kuboyasu's small smile is turning into a grin for reasons entirely unrelated to him. Psychic powers aren't needed for Saiki to know that 'cute' is probably the word running through Kuboyasu's mind at the moment, and even with Saiki's best efforts to make him realize he's not anything like that, Kuboyasus's stubbornness prevails.
He looks like he wants to say something, but Kuboyasu instead moves his hands from Saiki's waist to rest on his face. Saiki doesn't mind having his face touched, but maybe the time apart had made Saiki wistful for Kuboyasu's rough, calloused thumb caressing his cheek gently, and he unconsciously leans into it. A weird contrast, for sure, sweet touch from a boy whose arms are scattered with scars.
He really became a sap.
"God, I did really miss you." Kuboyasu presses his forehead against Saiki's. He's looking at him so reverently; like he absolutely can't believe holding Saiki's face between his hands, like he can't believe he's looking into his eyes like he' completely surprised those are Saiki's hands pressed against his back. Saiki rolls his eyes.
"You're dramatic." But there's no heat behind it. Kuboyasu still pouts, in a dramatic, clearly fake manner. He receives a snort for his efforts.
"Not as much as you are." Saiki's expression is a clearly readable 'offended' if Kuboyasu's hearty laugh is anything to go by. He's about to open his mouth and protest those ridiculous claims when chapped lips meet his own, effectively shutting him up before he could start.
The kiss is short, just meant to stop him from talking, but it drags on forever and it's over too soon. Kuboyasu thinks the same, because he goes in for a second one, meeting Saiki in the middle. The second one, he could describe as a breath of fresh air after a long day, it's equally as chaste, yet twice as passionate as the first, and with a thousand more meaning to it.
When they pull away, he knows what Kuboyasu wanted to say, as if it wasn't stupidly obvious already.
"Class is starting soon," Saiki points out, a little out of breath and blushing like mad. Kuboyasu reluctantly lets him go, mumbling something about 'damn being a goody two shoes' and 'i never used to care about this shit' and Saiki is laughing on the inside.
"Let's go to a cafe after class." Kuboyasu looks shocked, as Saiki isn't the one for making plans, but that's quickly replaced by a bright smile and cheerful nodding.
"Then a movie?" Saiki knows that the other is looking for more time for them to spend together, but he still gives him a short nod. He enjoys watching new movies without getting spoiled, especially if Kuboyasu is there to keep them from other incidents.
"Sweet." He places a kiss on Saiki's temple as if he couldn't stop himself. "It's a date."
