Chapter Text

The symbol of hope had been on the news since the night before. A terrorist attack left a building collapsing with people still inside. After the hero Deku showed up to the scene rescue efforts increased and only one casualty was reported. The green hero had a smile on his face when the camera caught him and the clip of him smiling with people clinging to his back had been played probably a hundred times since late last night.

Yuuta Yamada-Aizawa’s seven year old eyes were glued to the TV as the clip played again. His black hair was long enough that it went past his chin but for now, it was clipped back to prevent it from falling in his face, save for a few strands from his bangs that had broken free. His big green eyes were lit up as the clip ended and the boy turned to see his papa cooking breakfast. Hizashi Yamada, better known as Present Mic was preparing breakfast for his child and husband who should be walking through the front door any minute. “Papa! Did you see it? Deku is so cool!” The boy bounced up and down as he backed away from the screen and fell back onto the living room sofa.

A laugh came from the kitchen followed by his papa’s voice. “I taught him English you know! Your poor fathers had to deal with him for three straight years!” Hizashi took the pan off the burner to put the eggs he had been cooking on the plates. The young boy threw his hands up into the air excitedly “I want to be a hero just like Deku!”

“Not like us huh?” A monotone voice said from the doorway. Yuuta jumped off the couch and, using his sock covered feet, slid across the hardwood floor to greet his dad. “Daddy! Did you see about Deku?” The boy energetically hopped between feet while his dad took off his capture weapon and boots. Long black hair needing to continuously be tucked behind an ear before falling out again starting to annoy the man. “I heard about the attack but I was already dealing with another criminal when the alert went out. I didn’t get a chance to actually see Deku today.”

“Well Eraserhead, work is over so come get some breakfast! It’s American style because I’m tired from a certain little hero wanting to stay up all night designing his costume.” Hizashi playfully glared at his son and pursed his lips as he set the plates on the table. Yuuta tugged at the bottom of his Froppy pajama shirt and smiled bashfully. “I’m gonna show you my drawings later daddy. After you sleep!” Yuuta shot his dad some finger guns and shuffled off to the table to eat. Shouta looked to his husband who was already shrugging. “No idea where he got that from!” Hizashi said loudly before sliding into his place at the table.

The three of them ate while Yuuta rambled on about what he wanted his hero name to be. All of the ideas were adorable but none could really be used for a name, and some had copyright issues as they were definitely inspired by the kid’s favorite heroes. Hizashi kept offering suggestions of different variations of “Mini Mic” but to his extreme disappointment Yuuta shot them all down.

Once their breakfast had ended Shouta attempted to get some grading done but strong hands fell to his shoulders before pulling him back against a warm chest. The sweet scent of Hizashi wafted around the tired man and had his muscles relax slightly. “Shou, go sleep. It’s been almost twenty four hours. You look like a zombie.” Hizashi’s voice was low in Shouta’s ear. It didn’t take much convincing for the alpha to get his mate to lay down. This time on the bed and not on the floor with Yuuta driving toy cars on his back. Once Hizashi was sure Shouta had gone to sleep he quietly backed out of their bedroom and smiled down at the boy waiting outside.

With one swift motion, Hizashi scooped his son up and trotted back to the living room to give the sleeping hero some quiet. “Shhh! Daddy’s gonna sleep for a bit so we need to keep our voices down, ok?” The older alpha put his finger over his lips and winked, fighting back a laugh as his son mimicked the action. Hizashi quickly scented the boy before setting him down. Yuuta’s own scent had started to become stronger as he developed. It was sweet like Hizashi’s but had a hint of nature in it from Shouta. It was like a tropical flower of some kind but neither of them could really put their finger on what a good comparison would be. Most of the time Yuuta smelled like one of his parents who scented him any chance he was standing still.

The seven year old scampered over to a stack of papers and colored pencils that he had been working with earlier that morning before getting distracted by the news. Hizashi sat cross legged next to Yuuta to watch him color in what he thought was another hero costume design attempt. This one looked a lot like the Present Mic costume, directional speaker and all. “I like this one the most.” Hizashi said with a satisfied smile. Yuuta picked up a yellow pencil and giggled. “Well, I am drawing you, papa.”

“Then this is the best drawing you’ve ever done!” Both of them laughed for a few seconds before Yuuta gasped and rushed to cover Hizashi’s mouth with his small hands. “Papa quiet! We’re gonna wake daddy up!” Yuuta’s determined eyes had a fire behind the bright green. The strong parental alpha under Hizashi’s skin was practically vibrating with how proud he was of the kid. ‘He’s so considerate!’ He shouted in the back of his mind before hugging his child as tightly as he could. Yuuta tried to stifle his growing laugher as his dad stood up with him still in a tight hug. “Papa stop! You’re gonna crush me!”

“You think I would go and crush you? My own son?”

A soft chuckle came from behind Hizashi and the blonde turned to see Hitoshi, cat-like smile on his face as he watched the display. The adopted son of Shouta and Hizashi ran his hand through his hair nervously before speaking. “Sorry for just coming in without knocking. I was gonna be in the area and thought I should stop by.” Hitoshi hardly took a step forward when Yuuta slid from his dad’s arms and ran head first into Hitoshi’s stomach, knocking the wind out of the man.

Yuuta clung to his brother’s waist and smiled up at him, watching as the omega caught his breath. “Toshi! I’m gonna be a hero too! I’ve decided!” The boy peeled himself off of his brother and triumphantly pumped his fist into the air. Hitoshi put his hands on his hips “So you think you can be a hero huh? Think you could be a better hero than me?” He leaned down to look Yuuta in the eyes then raised an eyebrow. The child could see the mischief in his brother’s eyes and nodded, knowing if he spoke he would end up under the brainwashing quirk that he was way too familiar with.

Yuuta had gone through several phases that Hitoshi’s brainwashing came in handy for. Most recently when he was five Yuuta refused to bathe. While Shouta was extremely angry when he walked in on his catatonic pup being scrubbed by a frustrated Hitoshi he was thankful the kid was finally clean. Yuuta also liked to be brainwashed when they would play heroes and villains. He seemed to find the sensation similar to being tickled.

While the two boys continued their stare down Hizashi watched, smiling like the proud dad he was. “You’re going to be a great hero, Yuu.”

-6 Years Later-

Yuuta mumbled to himself as he filled out the paper his homeroom teacher had passed out that read ‘Your future’ at the top. He had been sure of what he wanted to do since he was small but actually admitting to his classmates that he wanted to be a hero wouldn’t end well. As he wrote he made sure to keep his paper covered. “Maybe I can get in on recommendation…” Yuuta bit the end of his pen when a hand slammed onto his desk, setting his paper on fire. The brunette yelped and snatched his burning paper from under the fiery hand.

“Saito Katsumi! No quirk use in the classroom!” The teacher yelled out, clearly tired of having to repeat this sentence daily. The hand extinguished itself, leaving a black scorch mark on Yuuta’s desk. The owner of the hand smirked viciously down at Yuuta, orange eyes watching his every move. The tall girl was known for having a powerful quirk called combustion. She was able to ignite her entire body in flames. It was amazing to see, and obviously, she wanted to become a hero. “Yamada, don’t even try to get into UA. You’ll just slow everyone else down with that villain quirk of yours.” She turned around sharply, bright blue hair flowing behind her as she returned to her own desk.

Looking back down at his paper Yuuta silently sighed. He ran his thumb over the burned off corner and glanced to his top choice for high school. UA wasn’t that crazy of an idea, right? Sure he wouldn’t be able to use his quirk during the exam but he was pretty sure he could pass the written part with no issue.

A tap on his shoulder cause Yuuta to jump slightly in his chair and turn around. Sekijiro Kenta offered a sweet smile, showing off his large top and bottom canines. The white haired alpha took a quick look over his friend’s shoulder at the assignment and chuckled. “My dad already has me training for the exam.” Kenta rolled his shoulders and sighed. “I’m always waking up sore or with new bruises. Your dads are training you too, right?”

“Uhm…” Yuuta shifted awkwardly and turned his gaze back down at his paper. “Yeah but I think they’re getting frustrated with me. I think my quirk control is getting worse.” He kept his voice low. The rest of the class already hated his quirk and by extension him.

Erasure Voice was considered a powerful quirk, one that the hero Eraserhead had been studying diligently for fourteen years. Whenever Yuuta had it active, anyone within the sound waves of his voice would have their quirk erased, just as if Eraserhead was looking at them. At first, everyone was excited, thinking this would be a more advanced version of Eraser’s own quirk. However, it was quickly learned that the sound waves worked on everyone who could hear them, not just villains, so in the long run, Yuuta was a hindrance to any other heroes that may be around.

Yuuta was ten when his parent sat him down and made it clear that there was a strong possibility he wouldn’t be admitted to the hero course of UA, or be able to be hired as a hero. His parents were gentle about it, and nothing they said was news to him. He knew that neither of them wanted to say it. Both of his parents looking more upset about it than he was. Years of dreaming to be a hero just like his dads and big brother were slowly becoming less and less likely.

“I should’ve just been born quirkless.” Yuuta muttered as the bell chimed, signaling school was over for the day. He quickly packed his things and tried to rush out of the classroom, Kenta hot on his heels. “Whoa! Did you just say what I think you said?” No response. Yuuta kept his head down, his black hair covering most of his face.

Kenta huffed and grabbed his friend’s wrist to start pulling him down the hallway and out of the school. “Ken please don’t manhandle me.” Yuuta begged as the stronger alpha continued to drag him away from the school and down the street. Once they were far enough away for Kenta’s liking he pushed Yuuta against a hard concrete wall and trapped between his arms, their faces inches apart. “Yuu, your quirk is amazing. Don’t you ever say you don’t want it. You’re going to be so useful in the field.”

“How can I be useful when I take away everyone's powers?”

“You’ll figure it out! You’re the smartest kid in our year and you have two amazing pros as parents! Plus I’m sure my dad would be willing to help too.” Kenta pushed off the wall to free his friend who had started to giggle under his breath. “I don’t know if Vlad King would be the best teacher for someone like me.” Yuuta put his hands in his pockets as he started walking towards his apartment building, Kenta close to his side. “Well if you get into the hero classes my dad might just be your homeroom teacher.” Kenta sounded proud of that until Yuuta replied with “Same.”

The two boys had slowly become inseparable as they grew older. Their dads being coworkers lead to a lot of time spent together from daycare on to normal schooling. The two young alphas had practically made their own pack with each other. Recently, The Sekijiro family moved into the same building as the Yamada-Aizawa’s to be closer to the UA campus.

That was Yuuta’s favorite part of the walk home. Seeing the large mirrored glass building surrounded by the huge protective wall and gate. The way the afternoon sun reflected off the windows gave the building a sparkling quality that made it look like some kind of dream. He often wondered if this was actually his dream school or if growing up surrounded by heroes affected his perception. “I’m making myself existential again.” Yuuta said as he ran his hands through his hair and hummed, trying to rid his head of any thoughts that would end up bothering him for hours.

Kenta open hand slapped him in the center of his back, pulling a yelp out of him. “Quit thinking of sad shit. If you bum me out I’m gonna get my ass kicked in training. I was serious about you joining us. You really need to bulk up more.” Kenta eyed his skinny friend with a satisfied smirk. Yuuta puffed out his cheeks and started walking faster. “I have a high metabolism! I take after my pop!”

“Sounds more like you’re telling the world Present Mic doesn’t work out.” Kenta laughed as Yuuta broke into a sprint up the stairs to his apartment, holding his middle finger up the whole time.

The teen ran into his apartment and slammed the front door, breathing heavily as he slipped his shoes off. “Is that my little listener?” The high pitched voice of his father rang over the apartment before the blonde alpha poked his head around the corner, hair in a tight ponytail and red reading glasses on. Yuuta checked the time on a wall clock and then looked to his dad in confusion. “Shouldn’t you still be at work?” The wide smile on his father’s face made him realize that something terrible was about to go down.

“Again!” Hizashi yelled, voice echoing over the soundproof gym of the hero agency. Yuuta took in a deep breath and then yelled, mimicking his dad’s signature ‘Yeah!’. They often trained like this. Alternating between holding long notes and holding his breath to increase lung capacity. To be able to use his voice quirk effectively he would need strong lungs and even stronger vocal cords. Hizashi timed how long the yell was, nodding as Yuuta’s voice slowly stopped. “You’re up to a minute fifteen. That’s an increase of about seven seconds. If we keep at it you might be able to be close to my time by the entrance exams.” Hizashi smiled at his tired son.

Yuuta took a quick drink from his water bottle when the doors to the gym swung open and Shouta strolled in still in his hero gear. The Erasure Hero looked between his mate and pup before sighing. “You tired him out already? He has physical training today as well.” Shouta sounded irritated but quickly adjusted his expression back to a neutral state. “Take ten. Then we’ll start with some sparing.” The stoic omega stated before moving closer to Hizashi. Yuuta watched as his parents talk quietly to each other. It was probably about work or something he didn’t need to know about, but something in the back of his head was telling him ‘They’re talking about you’. Yuuta looked away and took another sip from his water, taking his phone out of his pocket to distract himself from his own negativity.

The only notifications were from Kenta, per the usual. It started out with a couple of memes, then a screenshot of some post online. Yuuta set his water bottle next to his bag and held his phone with both hands to focus on the most recent message.

‘I was talking to my dad about your quirk cause you’re so worried about being a liability on the field. He thinks you might be able to get a support item like your dads that might be able to focus your quirk better. I know that doesn’t really help the issue about other heroes hearing you, but who knows! Once we get into UA we should talk to Powerloader about it.’

Yuuta read over the message again, enjoying the confidence his friend had. “Yuu-Yuu! Come on over here and kick your daddy’s ass!” Hizashi’s loud voice echoed some off the walls of the gym. The blonde alpha pressed a quick kiss to his mate’s cheek before jogging off to the side of the room to watch the match. Yuuta took after his papa’s body type completely, being lean and having a hard time gaining weight or noticeable muscle. However, that didn’t mean he didn’t build muscle at all. He could pick up his parents easily and hold them for about a minute before getting tired.

“Ok Yuuta, take me down.” Shouta got into a ready stance. A loud cheer came from Hizashi on the sidelines. If he was going to make his parents proud he had to get into UA at any cost. With a deep breath, Yuuta centered his stance, watching his dad carefully as he tried to find an opening. With trained persision, Yuuta targeted his dad's legs in an attempt to knock him down only for his dad to jump back, a glimmer of amusement in his eyes. As Shouta regained his stance he noticed Yuuta had seemingly disappeared in the time it took him to land. Shouta turned his head to see his son behind him and watched as Yuuta gripped the back of his head, using the long hair for leverage for him to pull down. Shouta hadn't been ready for an attack from behind, anticipating his son's usual attack pattern. As he fell back Yuuta trapped him in a headlock and held him on the ground.

"You know, I could break out of this easily right?" Shouta glanced to his smiling son. "You didn't say incapacitate you. Just to take you down." Yuuta seemed proud of this despite the less than heroic method he used to get here. Hair pulling was a dirty trick. "If you end up in my class I'll wipe that smile off your face so fast."

Notes:

A new story begins for Yuuta. I appreciate all the support I've gotten with this series so far. If it wasn't for everyone who reads and reviews I certainly wouldn't have completed Let Me Hold You or started this new story. Thank you all
