Chapter Text
Tin sat in class doodle in the corner of his book as the teacher droned on with the obvious as everyone around him frantically took notes like what they were hearing was an original idea. Looking around Tin was harshly reminded that the lies and rumours that had been spread about him in England had caught up with him here. In their ever subtle way of bulling the other students had taken it upon themselves to move his back row desk further into the corner of the room and the ones occupying the desks near him made sure to always face away from him. Rolling his eyes Tin pulled out the current novel he was reading and settled in waiting for the class to end so that he could at least find the one person in this hell hole they call a school that liked him and had befriended him.
Two chapters later the teacher was calling the class’ attention to something else entirely, lifting his eyes from his novel Tin couldn’t believe what he was seeing. At the front of the class stood a guy in ripped jeans, his school button down only half tucked in and vibrant pink hair. He offered the class a smile that Tin’s mind had attached the word cute to as he introduced himself as Can. The teacher gave his hair a disapproving look before telling him to find a seat. Tin watched as Can looked at the three empty seats and headed towards the one next to him, Tin watched him with curiosity as he approached wondering how long it would take for the others to tell this new kid the bullshit lies about him.
Ten seconds. It took them ten seconds, Can hadn’t even reached his desk when the guy in front of Tin stopped him “you don’t want to sit there”
Can stopped and looked down at the guy “why?”
“He is a drug addict” the guy said in a loud whisper not really trying to keep quite.
Can looked at Tin in time to see him roll his eyes at the guys statement “do you do drugs?” Can asked looking right at Tin.
“No” Tin said farrowing his brow and lifting his novel back up so that he could disappear back into the written word but didn’t quite make it as the table he was leaning against got bumped as Can took his seat.
“Why is the desk so close to the wall?” Can asked to no one in particular as he used the palms of his hands to push it back to where it should be. The loud scraping sounds the legs made against the floor made Tin want to laugh as Can pretended like he wasn’t being a massive disruption to the class.
When Tin had shuffled his chair and belongings back up to the desk he was met with Can’s out stretched hand “I’m Can”
“Tin” Tin said shaking the offered hand “if you want to make friends at this school then it’s probably best you don’t talk to me”
“What if you are the friend I want to make?” Can’s honest smile almost out shone his bright hair and Tin couldn’t help the smile that came across his face.
Can had seen the sadness in the guy’s face the moment he had walked into the room and it had thrown him because what would such a handsome guy have to be sad about. But in no time at all he saw the way the others treated him over some nonsense rumour and that had bugged Can for some reason. Ignoring the idiots he decided that if Tin turned out to be a good guy he wanted him as a friend, that was until he had gotten Tin’s smile and his heart jumped into his throat.
When lunch rolled around Can was immediately surrounded by the other students but as Tin passed by they made way for him and Can took the opportunity to grab Tin’s wrist “sorry but I already asked Tin to show me around” Can nudged Tin forward so that they could get out before anyone asked him anymore questions.
Can was surprised that Tin didn’t say anything all the way to the canteen even about the fact that Can was still holding onto his wrist. As they walked in people started falling into silence as they watched the schools ice prince walking side by side with a smiling pink haired guy, it wasn’t until they were ordering food that Can finally let go of Tin’s wrist. Tin frowned when he felt instantly cold by the absence of Can’s hand, shaking it from his mind he took his food and headed over to Ae and Pete who had watched in surprise at Tin having someone with him and that someone being so vibrant and happy.
“Hey Tin, what’s new” Pete asked with a sweet smile as he and Can sat down opposite Pete and Ae.
“I started a new book yesterday” Tin said with a shrug.
“He was talking about your new friend” Ae said amused at Tin trying to avoid the topic.
Tin tilted his head “new friend?”
“Yes, you know the pink haired guy next to you” at Ae’s words they all turned to Can as he smiled and waved at them.
Tin rolled his eyes at Can’s ever present cheerfulness “this is Can”
“Hey I’m Ae and this is Pete” Ae said with a friendly smile as he placed an arm around Pete’s shoulders.
“How long have you two known each other I saw you holding hands when you came in?” Pete sounded far too excited and Tin regretted telling him he was gay because every time he even so much as thought the word ‘guy’ Pete would buzz with excitement.
“Only a couple of hours but it was love at first sight” Can winked at Pete “how could I not, he smiles all the time and its so infectious”
Ae burst out laughing at Can’s statement while Tin turned to him with a raised brow as his anger flared at getting mocked and teased, just as he set himself to say something cutting Can gave his cheek a small pinch completely tipping him off his axis. Tin quickly put on a fake smile “if you wanted me to smile more baby you should have just said so”
Pete spit out his drink spraying his food with orange soda “oh my god, are you two?”
Tin turned to Pete with a farrow in his brow “no, it was a joke”
“I didn’t know you knew how to make those” Ae said under his breath but Can had still caught it.
“I’m not going to just start dating a guy that I have just met; I don’t even know his last name” Tin said stabbing at his food with his fork as a quiet fell over the table with Tin’s cranky mood.
“Kirakorn”
They all looked at Can who was staring at Tin with a soft smile “what?” Tin asked as he noticed the pick haired boy’s earing for the first time.
“My last name is Kirakorn”
Ae lent forward so that he could keep his question quiet “are you seriously going after our grumpy Tin?”
Can actually seemed like he was putting some thought into it before he shrugged “I don’t know, but I would like to be his friend”
Sitting in class for the afternoon Tin was growing more and more annoyed that everyone kept shooting them looks while Can either didn’t notice or didn’t care “so why aren’t you taking notes?”
“Because I don’t need to” Tin said opening his novel.
“What are you reading?” Tin just held up the book so that Can could read the cover “cool, so are you gay?” this question had the table in front of them turnaround, they returned when Tin gave them one of his best death glares. Realising he may have been too loud Can dropped his voice “it’s just with the way Ae and Pete were talking it seemed like you having a boyfriend wouldn’t be out of the norm”
“Why do you care?” Tin snapped as he transferred his glare to Can “would it bother you if I was?”
“No, not at all” Can held up his hands in surrender “I’m Bi so it would be a bit hypocritical of me to have a problem with it. I guess I’m just trying to work out why Ae and Pete seem to be your only friends”
“Because that is the way my brother likes it, if he could he would make it so that I didn’t even have them” Tin grumbled taking his phone out to look at the notification that just buzzed his pocket. Seeing the message Tin let himself flop forward onto the table as he let out a small groan wondering how his day could get worse.
“What’s wrong?” Can asked worried that he may have over stepped his bounds but Tin just handed him his phone open to a message from Pete: ‘I know I said I would give you a lift this afternoon but something came up. I really sorry’
“I’m guessing the something that came up was Ae’s dick” Tin said as he rolled to his side and took the phone off Can who snorted at Tin’s dry humour.
“I can give you a lift” Can saw the skeptical look on Tin’s face “as long as you are cool with motorbikes”
Tin sat up with a strange excitement on his face “like a real motorbike and not a scooter?”
“Yes a real bike” Can was again taken aback by Tin’s smile.
“Sure, I’ve always wanted to ride one” Can was shocked that Tin had never ridden a motorbike before but before he could say anything Tin jumped in with his own question “what’s with the pink hair”
“Oh!” Can hadn’t expected that to be the question “my little sister is obsessed with Japanese anime, she said something about the main characters always having bright coloured hair before she attacked me with hair dye. But I kind of like it” Can said rolling some of the ends between his thumb and pointer.
“I like it” Tin reached up taking the strands out of Can’s fingers “I don’t really know you but it suites you”
The soft tone Tin used had Can blushing and now made him hyper aware of the people watching them “thanks” he breathed out as his heart raced.
Sitting on the back of Can’s bike had been better then he thought it would be, the freeing feeling of it seemed to lift a weight off Tin’s shoulders as the vibration from the engine coursed through him. Can drove for an hour before he pulled over at a park, climbing off Can helped Tin get his helmet off “I’ll be back in a second” running across the road Can went into the service station to get them a bottle of water and an ice cream each.
When he returned Tin wasn’t at the bike and a very brief moment of panic zapped through Can before he realized Tin was on a swing gently swaying back and forward, when Can reached Tin he saw a contented look on the boy’s face “I got you an ice cream”
Tin smiled as he took the offered treat “you’re so different to other people”
“Is that a good thing?” Can asked as he took the swing next to Tin.
Can watched fascinated as Tin licked his ice cream “it’s a great thing really. Everyone else just believed the rumours and no one asked me if they were true”
“They? I only heard the drug one, what else is there?” Can couldn’t help his curiosity.
“That I sleep with girls and then throw them away and that I think everyone else is below me and not worth talking to” Tin watched his shoes glide back and forward above the ground as the swing carried him.
“I take it there is no truth to any of them” Can’s tone was curious not accusatory.
“Well some people aren’t worth talking to but that not because I think I am better than them it because they are assholes”
Can laughed but had to agree with Tin’s words, some people were assholes “and the girl thing?”
“I think that one came from a very angry girl, we had been dating and when we did try to sleep together… Well let’s just say she’s not my type” Tin took a large bite of ice cream to cover his embarrassment.
“I transferred schools because I got caught up in a scandal with one of my teachers” Can turned in his swing to face Tin.
“It’s all be hushed up because the teacher in question comes from a very connected family but no one ever listened to me when I tried to tell them what happened. I should have fought harder because he is now able to do it to someone else and the next guy might not be able to fight off the perverts advances” Tin could see Can’s grip on the swing was turning his knuckles white.
“Is that why you chose to sit next to me, you saw a kindred in me?” Tin placed a hand around one of Can’s to try and calm him.
“I wish I was that cool, no it was because I was curious why such a hot guy was so sad” Can moved the hand that Tin was covering causing Tin to pull back but Can moved faster and snatched it to hold it in his linking their fingers together.
“So you really are Bi?” Tin looked a bit bashful.
Can nodded “are you really gay?” Tin wanted to say yes but he truthfully didn’t know.
“I think so, I mean I am attracted to men but I’ve never done anything with one” Tin’s eyes had moved to Can’s lips now that he was thinking about kissing him.
“Are you attracted to me?” Can lent in half way.
“Yes” Tin closed the distance and near melted at the feel of Can’s soft lips. Without breaking the kiss Can grabbed the rope of Tin’s swing and dragged him closer as he ran his tongue along Tin’s bottom lip asking for entry. But before Tin could oblige there was a very pointed cough that had them splitting apart.
“This is a kid’s playground, maybe you two should find a more privet setting for that”
By the time Can was pulling up in front of Tin's house Tin had pressed himself against his back enjoying the warmth of the other boy's body in the evening chill. As Can stopped the bike Tin felt a stone weigh heavily in his stomach and his body tensed knowing that once he got off and entered that house he would lose the free feeling he had all afternoon. Slowly climbing off the bike Tin looked up at the brightly lit house and just wanted to cry at the thought of being trapped inside those walls again. Turning to give Can back the spare helmet he found that Can had removed his and in the low street light with his pink hair tousled by the helmet there was something almost other worldly about him "I'll see you at school tomorrow" Tin had watched Can's lips form every word remembering how they had felt against his.
"Yeah, I'll see you tomorrow" Tin said moving a step closer to Can when his phone started buzzing in his pocket, looking at the caller I.D Tin let out a sigh and turned towards the house when Can grabbed his wrist and pulled him back around and dragged him down into a hard kiss.
When they pulled apart Can left with the memory of Tin's smile while Tin enter the house armed with the happiness Can had given him.

Tin had found himself looking forward to going to class for the first time in a very long time but as he walked up the steps into the building he heard a sound that sent a thrill up his spine and left a ghost of a smile on his face. Turing around he spotted Can pulling into the parking lot, his eyes locked on the others form as he removed his helmet and walked towards the building. Raised his hand to wave at the approaching stock of pink hair Tin stilled when Can was engulfed by a group of girls who all giggled loudly as they surrounded him. Not wanting to make Can an outsider like himself, Tin turned back towards the building and headed inside.
When Can had finally shaken off the group of babbling girls he headed for class wanting to ask Tin why he had walked away for him just now and why he had looked so sad. When he walked into the class however the few students that had already arrived were surrounding Tin’s desk “don’t get to full of yourself Medthanan, he will see who you really are and you will be back to being a pathetic loner” Tin just sat there looking at the guy without expression though a small part of him was worried that Can would start believing the lies about him “are you looking down on me, do you think you are better than me just because you are rich?”
“He’s better then you because he isn’t using mob mentality to pick on someone for no reason” Can’s sudden voice made them all jump “if you could all move I would like to get to my desk”
It started to scare Tin that someone he had known for less the twenty-four hours seemed to have such a strong hold on him that all the tension he was holding just moments before had now disappeared. Pulling out his books he gave Can a quiet greeting but as Can turned to give him a smile it dropped off his face “what happened?” Can pushed Tin’s hair away from his face to find a bruise coming through along his cheek.
“It’s nothing” Tin said shaking Can off as he busied himself with his books and pens.
“It’s not nothing Tin, tell me what happened” Can said his voice starting to rise with his concern putting Tin more on the defensive as others started to pay attention to their conversation.
Dropping his voice as he shifted as far away from Can as he could get while still staying at their table “it’s fine just drop it”
Can didn’t like it one bit but he wasn’t really in a place to be able to push it further, so he sat through class stewing on the fact that someone had obviously hit Tin. Someone who had seen him after he had dropped Tin off the night before and seen him again this morning, he needed to find out about Tin’s home life.
