Chapter Text

After doing so well in high school and taking a year off from it, Jotaro Kujo decided to go to college to achieve his dream of becoming a marine biologist. He loved the ocean, actually he loved the ocean more than anything else in his life. Well, besides the taste of tobacco from the cigarettes he occasionally smokes, shonen jump magazines, and the cheap beer he drinks. Even though it’s been a couple years since high school, he still had that delinquent side to him. Getting annoyed whenever people talked too loud, fought people who got in his way or looked at him funny. People are always intimidated by him. Wearing almost all black, being 6’5, having a tough, strong built, and a gaze that caught the hearts of girls who thought he was attractive. That’s another thing that annoyed him. Girls. Especially girls surrounding him whenever he left his dorm. They’d always follow him around, screaming his name, asking him constantly if he’ll go out with them and or sit with them at lunch or during classes. He’d always ignore them and walk his way to class. He wakes up late for class sometimes and arrives with a cigarette in his mouth and a sandwich in his hand. Teachers always yelled at him not to smoke in the building because one, it was prohibited to smoke indoors and students were only allowed to smoke outside in designated areas around the school’s campus. And 2, nobody wants to smell the stench of his cigs. But he always gave them his intimidating glare that would shut them up real quick. Even though Jotaro was almost late to class and disobeyed the teachers rules and shit, he was a very exceptional student. Always turned work on time and got good test scores and grades. He didn’t like being around other people and preferred to be alone in class, during lunch, his smoke breaks, and even in his dorm. Every time they tried to have someone move into his dorm, Jotaro would always shoot them his intimidating gaze and that would scare the person right away before the person would introduce themselves. That was until one day, a boy showed up and would change Jotaro’s life.

7:30 AM

There was a heavy knock on Jotaro’s door. He laid there in bed groaning.

“I’m not getting up. Go away!”

He rolled back over onto his side, placing the pillow over his head with force, blocking out the noise. The knocking got louder with every hit and then silence. Jotaro could slightly hear the jingle of keys from the other side of the door. He sat up, stepped out of bed and walked towards the door. He opened it with force, covering his face with his hand to block out the bright light coming from the hall. He noticed in front of him was the superintendent of the school. She was a short little lady. Barely 5 foot, wearing glasses, and a nice blouse and skirt.

“I’m sorry to bug you this early in the morning Mr. Jotaro Kujo but I know that you prefer to be alone in your dorm, but there seems to be no more room besides your dorm in the whole campus.”
He gave her a glare and sighed.

“This is what? The fourth time you try and make me be all buddy buddy with someone?”

“Yes sir. But please give this young man a chance before you go off and scare him away.”

She stepped to the side and gestured the man standing on the other side of her to come towards the door. A man, about 5’10 walked towards the door. He had cherry red hair, a long, curly strand in the front, cherry earrings, wearing a green t-shirt and jeans. Jotaro noticed the man had a paint easel tucked underneath his left armpit while in the other hand, he clutched a bag that contained multiple art supplies. He also had a bookbag on his shoulders.

“This is Mr. Noriaki Kakyoin and if you two seem to have any issues…” She glared over to Jotaro. “Then please, don’t hesitate to contact me in my office. Hope you two have a lovely time together.” She gave them a wave goodbye and walked down the hall. The two men stood there watching her leave. Kakyoin cleared his throat to break the awkward silence.

“So, you’re my new roomate huh?”

Jotaro looked him, “Tch. Yeah sure whatever.” He turned and walked back into the dorm. Kakyoin walked behind him, clutching his things in his hand. He closed the door behind him and took in the room. It was somewhat big but not too big. Not too small either. There was the bathroom to his left from the door they entered from, a small desk sat behind Jotaro’s bed up against the wall, a night stand was beside his bed, a separate bed was across the room from Jotaro’s. There was two dressers. One was piled with Jotaro’s things while the other one was empty. There was only one window and that was placed between the two beds. Kakyoin walked over towards the separate bed and placed his stuff on the bed. He carefully placed the easel next to the bed up against the wall, placing the bag of supplies next to it on the floor. He then started to take stuff out of the backpack. Jotaro could clearly tell Kakyoin was an art kid. He didn’t mind it, but as long as his art supplies didn’t get in his way, or made a mess with paints and shit then they shouldn’t have any issues. Still, he’d prefer to be by himself but he’ll see how long he’ll last being around Kakyoin. He laid back down in bed, resting his head on a pillow. He grabbed the carton of cigarettes from the side table, placed one between his lips and lit it. Breathing in the smoke, he let out a big cloud of smoke.

“You gotta be shitting me.”

Jotaro looked over to Kakyoin pinching his nose with his fingers. “Seriously dude? Smoking indoors? Especially in our dorm? Y’know they have designated areas outdoors for you to do that.” Jotaro took in a another drag and exhaled. “Yeah so? You got a problem with that?” “Yeah I do.” Kakyoin said while fanning the smoke away with his hand. “This shit stinks.” “Well suck it up cherry boy.” Jotaro took another drag, exhaled, and put the cig out in the ashtray next to him. “What did you call me?” “Cherry boy. Are you done asking questions?” Jotaro rolled over onto his side, his back facing Kakyoin. “Yeah I’m done.” Kakyoin rolled his eyes, his face lightly blushing. He decided to open up the window to let some fresh air in. Continuing to set up his side of the room. While setting up, he noticed a bunch of shonen jump magazines underneath his bed.

“Don’t touch those.”

Kakyoin jumped, turned his head slightly to see that Jotaro still facing away from him.

“How did you know I saw these?”

“Because I put those there cherry boy.”

Kakyoin sighed. “Do you mind if I move these so I have room underneath my bed?”

“Yeah yeah whatever.”

Kakyoin carefully picked them up one by one and stacked them on top of one another and walked over towards Jotaro’s desk, placing them gently on the desk. He looked over towards Jotaro.

“Y’know.. I’ve never met someone else who also reads shonen jump.”

Jotaro sat up and looked at Kakyoin. “Well now you have. Happy?” Kakyoin gave him a small smile. “Yeah.” Jotaro put his hand through his hair and sighed. “You do art huh?” His eyes directing over towards the easel. Kakyoin’s eyes widened and shook his head. “Y-yes it’s my passion actually. I do all sorts of art. Illustration, ceramics, all sorts of different things but I mainly illustration. What about you? What do you do?” Jotaro looked down at the blanket he was covered with, his fists crumpled in the fabric.

“Marine biology. Well.. that’s what I’m planning on doing once I graduate from this shit hole.”

“Oh that’s pretty neat.”

“Yeah sure..” Jotaro laid back down in bed, lying on his side again. “Can I go back to sleep now? I don’t have class until noon.”

“Oh yeah sure.” Kakyoin said while walking back over towards his bed. “I have class at noon also but I have to set up and get myself comfortable first before I rest.” He looked over to see Jotaro wasn’t paying any attention. Kakyoin gently smiled and set up the rest of his stuff.

11:40 AM

Jotaro awoke with the sun beaming in from the window. He sat up in his shorts and tank top. He went over to his dresser and took out his usual clothing. A purple shirt, black jeans, socks, and his black coat and his hat. He walked into the bathroom, showered, brushed his teeth, and got dressed. Before heading out, he noticed Kakyoin was still sound asleep in his bed with art supplies scattered all over the floor. He took a cig from his pocket, placed it between his lips and looked at Kakyoin once more debating if he should wake him up cause class was about to start in 20 minutes. He sighed, walked over, and shook him. Kakyoin opened his eyes slowly, dried drool was on the corner of his mouth.

“Huh? What time is it?”

“11:40”

“WHAT?!”

Kakyoin scrambled out of bed, pushing Jotaro out is his way, grabbing any nearby supplies he needed for his class.

“S-sorry but I must get going!”

He flung the door open and ran out, leaving the door open. Jotaro sighed.

“This is gonna be a long day.”
