Black and gold

Summary:

Yoongi sighs. It's his fault really. He shouldn't have gotten mad at the half-fae when Seokjin was blameless.

Notes:

I should be studying but oh well. I do plan on expanding this particular universe someday and doing a proper chaptered fic but for now have this soft Yoonjin oneshot!
(All mistakes are my own)

Work Text:

"Seokjin!"

Yoongi sighs. It's his fault really. He shouldn't have gotten mad at the half-fae when Seokjin was blameless. He sighs again before shouting out again
"Seokjin!"
Again, no answer. No surprises there. Seokjin must be sulking somewhere and not answering Yoongi on purpose.
Yoongi looks around at the dense canopy of trees and sighs again. Looks like he's going to have to exert himself a bit

By the time Yoongi has successfully climbed the tree he's out of breath and cursing himself even more. If only he hadn't screamed at Seokjin none of this would have happened.
He stops for a bit to catch his breath and looks around. He spots Seokjin sitting in another tree, back to Yoongi and shoulders tense. Yoongi steels himself and slowly makes his way towards Seokjin with the help of the the tree branches.

"Hey" he says sitting behind Seokjin.
No reply
"Um..Seokjin?"
No reply again
"Can you at least look at me?"
No response
"Please?"
Ah there's the magic word. Slowly, as if having second thoughts, Seokjin turns around to face Yoongi. He has some small golden balls of flames floating in between his hands as he scowls at Yoongi.
"What?" He asks venom dripping from his voice
Ok, he's mad. He has every right to be. It was Yoongi's fault anyway.

"I'm sorry" Yoongi says

Seokjin's eyes widen, not expecting Yoongi to apologise so quickly.
"I'm sorry I screamed at you. It wasn't your fault, I was just a little tense due to other reasons."
Seokjin just stares at Yoongi, the golden flames slowly dying down until Yoongi notices and gently cups Seokjin's hand in his own. The flames regain strength again except this time the flames are a mix of black and golden.
Yoongi's touch brings Seokjin out of his shock and he averts his eyes to the little flames.
"It's okay" he says, voice small
Yoongi can see his ears turning red and smiles to himself
"So are we good?" Yoongi asks
"Yeah we're good."
"Great. Can we get down from here then?"
Seokjin just nods, attention still on the flames
Yoongi's about stand up when Seokjin speaks up
"These are really pretty."
Yoongi looks at Seokjin and then at the little combination of golden and black flames.
"Yeah they are, and you've kept them stable for a long time too. It's impressive"
Seokjin smiles widely at Yoongi
"Thanks. Uhh..can we keep these?"
Yoongi blinks
"Keep these?"
Seokjin looks back at the flames a blush slowly rising up his neck
"Yeah.. in uh, in one of the lanterns?"
Yoongi keeps looking at Seokjin. Never in all of 23 years has he changed the black flames in the lanterns floating around his house. He has always kept them the same.
Seokjin seems to take Yoongi's silence as disapproval quickly speaks out
"It's okay! Nevermind. Let's just go"
He's about to dissolve the flames when Yoongi stops him suddenly.
"No! No uhh, you're right they are pretty. We should keep them"
Seokjin looks at Yoongi with wide eyes again until a small smile graces his lips. He offers the flames to Yoongi.
Yoongi however just waves his hand to clear the leaves around them until they see his house, just a few feet away in the middle of a clearing with floating lanterns forming a sort of halo over the house. The dark flames, rather than casting light, cast a shadow upon the house. Yoongi moves his hand some more, practiced motions making one of the lantern doors open and dissolving the flame in it. Seokjin silently watched while sitting beside him. Yoongi then turns to Seokjin and gives him a small smile.
"You should try it"
"Fro--From here?!" Seokjin says, surprised
Yoongi shrugs
"Yeah. You've practiced doing it close to the house anyway. Now you should try to control the flames over a distance, see how much finesse you have. Consider it your assignment for today."
Seokjin nods to Yoongi before looking back at the house. Attention focused on the one empty lantern. Slowly one of the balls start making its way towards the clearing. The farther it gets the more it flickers. It makes it to the periphery of the house before it flickers and dies down completely.
"Again" Yoongi simply says
Seokjin tries a second time, eyebrows furrowed but fails again. He keeps trying and gets further with each ball until the fifth and the final one finally makes it to the lantern. Seokjin whoops loudly at the success and Yoongi just chuckles fondly at him.
"Come on. That's enough for today, let's go eat some lunch"
At the mention of lunch, Seokjin perks up again and slowly they both make their way down the trees

On the other side of the clearing and little white bunny looks at the lone golden and black flame amongst all the dark ones and delightedly hops away.
Oh Namjoon was going to love this
