Work Text:

Midterms were rapidly approaching, yet another set of tests to hopefully not completely bomb. Eijiro was much more confident about this one than he had been for the tests as a first year, or even a second year. It was his third year a UA, his last midterm before venturing out into the world as an adult, as a hero. He had been studying hard for this the last few weeks with Katsuki, who had been pretty strict about the studying, refusing to allow any distractions. And okay, maybe Katsuki threatening to take away date nights if he didn't pass was a pretty hefty motivator. Eijiro was fully aware of how serious Katsuki was when he had said it too; it wouldn't be the first time he'd cancelled a date because Eijiro had gotten a less than stellar test grade (after one of his study sessions with Katsuki no less).

This time though, it was more than just a regular date on the line, their first big anniversary was coming up, a whole year they'd been together already. Eijiro didn't want to risk ruining his chance of spending some quality one on one time with Katsuki over a crappy grade. So he had to study extra hard.

Even being third years now, the school still held a pretty firm leash on its students after the incidents that went down during their first year. So going out anywhere was hard, which is why he and Katsuki had agreed to something simple. Katsuki had said that it made more sense to him to celebrate the bigger milestones, like five or ten years, rather than just one or two. Eijiro liked to disagree with that; his mind believing that every year they were together was worth celebrating, but he saw the sense in what had been said. Besides, with the restrictions the school had placed, it's not like they could really do much anyway.

Finally, the testing was over. Katsuki had placed second in class, just a few mere points behind Yaomomo. Eijiro was beyond proud of him for his accomplishment, even if Katsuki himself was entirely pissed off by the small margin that had placed him as 'merely second'. Eijiro had managed to succeed in placing eleventh in class and was thrilled with his score. Even Katsuki had told him he'd done well, and didn't revoke date privileges.

Eijiro was thrilled at the knowledge (now that he didn't have to worry about their date night being cancelled) that he could try to figure out something for them to do. Since they weren't able to go out, he'd just have to set something up in one of their dorms. He decided he'd set something up in his room, maintaining a semblance of secrecy from Katsuki, and away from the common area where just anyone could walk through.

He wanted Katsuki to himself, and he wanted to be affectionate. Katsuki was still iffy when it came to PDA, so he typically tried not to be too overwhelming. But in their rooms, or when it was just the two of them, they could be as affectionate as they wanted. Eijiro hadn't known that Katsuki could be so lovey. He always kept some form of contact with Eijiro. Whether they were just holding hands or cuddled up, Katsuki laying back against his chest, playing a game, or watching a movie. 'That's it!' Eijiro thought to himself. They could watch Katsuki's favorite movie. He could set it up with popcorn even; 'Good thing we're gonna hang in my room, since Katsuki doesn't allow food on his bed.' Add in some big comfy pillows to relax on and tons of cuddles, it sounded perfect!

'Bout damn time!' Katsuki scoffed to himself. 'Damn shitty hair, what the...?' His thoughts cut off by the scene before him as his eyes adjusted to the dim lighting. Looking around the room, a barely audible gasp escaped his lips, too surprised to stop it.

The only light in the room was from the tealight candles scattered everywhere; on the desk, the nightstand, there were dozens of them. The low table they used to study was set up next to him in the middle of the room. On it, was Eijiro's laptop, a massive bowl of popcorn (with the spicy topping Katsuki favored), along with bottles of orange juice and a few sodas. Next to the bed was a massive pile of pillows and blankets arranged in a semi circle on top of Eijiro's spare futon. It looked incredibly comfortable and if he was being honest with himself, Katsuki couldn't wait to curl up there with his boyfriend.

It was clear to him, that Eijiro had tried to put a lot of effort into this evening. Katsuki's heart swelled in his chest, with the love he felt for the red haired boy. 'He's such an idiot. But he's MY idiot,' he smiled to himself.

"Wha - what is all this, Ei?" Katsuki rasped, eyes watering. 'When did that happen?' he wondered to himself, blinking away the moisture. He wasn't the type of person to get choked up over things like this. Though Eijiro had a way of bringing out the more subtle parts of Katsuki's personality.

"I... I wanted to do something for special you. For our anniversary." Eijiro tells him, sounding almost apprehensive. "Do you like it? I know it's not much, but I just thought that something was better than nothing. If you don't like it..." The redhead was wringing his hands together, looking at him with so much hope in his eyes, Katsuki couldn't even attempt to make a snarky remark about it.

"Of course I fucking like it, Eijiro." Katsuki smirked, walking over to wrap his arms around the other boys waist. "What kind of idiot would I be, if I didn't love the surprise my amazing boyfriend planned just for me?" Katsuki tightened his grip on his boyfriend, wrapping him into a proper hug, his face nuzzling into the crook of Eijiro's neck.

"You... You love it?"

"Isn't that what i just said?" He replied, pressing a kiss onto the soft flesh where Eijiro's shoulder and throat came together. "Now, I see popcorn and drinks. I assume that means it's some sort of movie night?"

"Yep! I have that All Might movie you love queued up and ready to go!" Eijiro exclaimed. It seemed the spring was back in his step. Before he realized it, Katsuki was being pulled down into the pile of pillows and positioned against Eijiro's chest.

"Thank you, Ei. This was perfect." Katsuki whispered later, during a quiet point in the film. Eijiro chuckled lightly behind him, and Katsuki felt a kiss againt the crown of his head and a pair of strong arms wrap around him. "You're welcome, Babe."

The boys spent the rest of the night curled up together watching movies. Once the All Might movie had finished, Katsuki had insisted on watching Eijiro's favorite Crimson Riot movie. By the time the third movie (yet another hero movie) had finished, both boys had fallen asleep, arms wrapped tightly around each other.
