It was warm, that's all he could tell in his still half asleep haze. The sun was dancing across his eyelids from where they must've forgotten to close the blinds the night before. As he started to come out of his haze, a few more details became clear to him. Namely the strong arms wrapped around his waist and the soft warm exhales hitting the nape of his neck. Slowly, Eijiro turned to Face his boyfriend, trying not to wake him up.
If you were to ask, Eijiro would say that seeing Katsuki this way; the morning sun playing over his sleep-mussed blonde hair, the striking pale lashes fanned across his cheekbones, brow smooth in the absence of his typical frown, was like looking at the most beautiful piece of art. His heart swelled in his chest at the sight, and released a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding when he turned over.
Eijiro loved days off. It meant that he could simply lay in bed, in the warmth of his love's arms. While he loved going out and seeing their friends, or going out on dates together, it was these moments that he cherished most. They actually had plans to see the rest of the squad later in the day, but there were still a few hours or so before then.
Their anniversary was coming up soon, just a month and a half away, Eijiro wondered to himself what he should do for his boyfriend this year. Each year he tried to do something special for Katsuki, keyword: tried. It didn't always end well, like for their second anniversary when Eijiro tried to make dinner for him, and they wound up eating take out in their living room, the faint smell of smoke still lingering in the kitchen from where he'd forgotten to take the garlic bread out of the oven and it had burnt to ash. He chuckled quietly to himself, even four years later, he still felt that tinge of embarrassment from the incident. Katsuki had just laughed and told him from then on, that he was to leave matters of cooking to him, not that Eijiro was gonna complain, he had just wanted to do something for the other man. The year after that they went out for dinner and saw a stage play, Katsuki's idea for a more relaxed anniversary date.
Their anniversary last year had been anything but relaxing. Not that Eijiro hadn't tried, it had been their five year anniversary and he wanted to mark the occasion with something extra special, so without telling Katsuki what he was planning, had set up a weekend away at an onsen in the mountains for just the two of them. He'd reserved the couples suite complete with its own outdoor bath, and massages for the both of them, god knows Katsuki needed it. But as the day came for them to leave, they were just about to board the train when a villain attack had happened less than two blocks away, so of course, they ran to the scene to help out, and ended up staying at home after. When the smoke cleared and the area was cleaned, the sun had already begun to rise on a new day. Eijiro had eventually called the onsen and explained that they wouldn't make it, he was assured that whenever he wanted, he could reclaim the reservation. Thinking about it now, he realized he never got around to doing that, and he never told Katsuki what he had planned. He'll have to call the place later and see if he could still cash in on that.
Laying in bed next to the man he loved more than anything, Eijiro felt beyond happy. Quietly, softly, he traced his hand along Katsuki's. brushing up his arm feeling all the scars littering the soft skin, to his shoulder and his neck. Cupping his palm to the other man's cheek, he gently places soft kisses on his chin, his nose, and finally his lips.
When he pulls his face away, Katsuki's eyes are fluttering open and a soft groan escapes his lips. Katsuki looks down at him, crimson eyes meeting ruby, still sleepy but full of love. Katsuki places a sweet kiss on his forehead, "Time 's it?" he mumbles out. "'Bout 8:00." Eijiro says after a quick check of his phone. Katsuki closes his eyes again, tightening his grip around his waist, "Mhm, 'kay. 'S too early, let's go back to sleep a while." Wrapping his arms around the other man, he chuckles to himself, how's he suppose to say no to that peaceful expression on his lover's face? He closes his eyes, "Yeah, alright. I love you Katsu."
He feels another kiss placed on his forehead, and feels more than hears Katsuki's quiet reply. "Love you too, Ei." Eijiro slips back into sleep no sooner than he hears Katsuki's breathing slow, signalling that he too, has gone back to sleep.
