Pete glared at the people surrounding him, taking a harsh bite from his stick of meat as he wondered why the hell he had decided to come to some stupid house party, but remembered the free alcohol. It’s all his boyfriend’s fault, he cursed taking a big gulp from the cup of alcohol in his other hand. If he hadn’t started another argument, Pete wouldn’t be mad nor would he be at the damn party, instead cuddled up in Kao’s arms or even down his dick.
But here he was, watching others grind up against each other like it was some club as they danced to the blaring music from the speakers which made Pete’s ears ring. Pete scrunched his nose when he sniffed a whiff of cigarette smoke, most likely from the couple of boys standing away from the couch he was sat on and instead tried to concentrate on the scent of mixed alcohol and sweat.
Finishing his jerky and taking another drink of his cup, Pete frowns when he realizes that it was empty. “Great,” he muttered in annoyance as he jumped to his feet. He hadn’t even realized he had drank that much, still feeling sober with a hint of anger. He was still mad about Kao and his continued accusations of Pete being a player, a fuck boy who went around and slept with other girls. Pete didn’t understand why Kao was so worried about the situation when he had explained that it was all in the past, that he was head over heels for Kao and he would do anything for the male. Of course, his supposed boyfriend didn’t believe him and that caused Pete to be angry. He just didn’t understand why Kao would continue to believe that when all he did was love and chase him ever since the Mint situation.
Pete walked into the kitchen, spotting the refrigerator right away and quickly making his way over. He pulled the door open and grabbed the first alcohol bottle he saw, twisting the cap open and taking a huge gulp.
“Woah, Pete! You’re drinking already!”
Pete looked over and noticed his friends, giving them a small smile in greeting. “June, Thada, I didn’t know you guys would be here.”
“Of course!” June exclaimed, the usual excited grin on his face as he placed his hands on his hips, “I wouldn’t miss any party around the area.”
“We also invited Kao and San,” Thada spoke beside him, “they should be here soon.”
“Kao?” Pete repeated. “He’s coming?” Kao wasn’t much of a party person, instead preferring to stay at home and study. Pete had noticed this since the first time they really hung out and ever since, he’s always teased his boyfriend of being a party-pooper who never wanted to have any fun. But why the hell was Kao coming to a party now of all times.
Pete must’ve looked confused because June spoke, “I know right! I’m surprised too. Something must’ve happened to him to make him want to come.”
Pete gave an awkward smile and nod at June, glancing at Thada who was weirdly staring at him. “What?”
“Did something happen between you two?” Thada asked, concern laced in his tone.
Pete shook his head immediately. “Nothing happened! I’m just surprised he agreed to come...” Pete frowned when Thada kept giving in the look, so he quickly drank out of his bottle of alcohol to avoid his friend’s stare, letting the liquid burn his throat.
“They’re here!” June announced, looking down at his phone and tapping away with his fingers. “Told them we’re in the kitchen.”
Great. Pete wasn’t planning on seeing Kao until a few more days, but he was secretly glad because he missed the male just a little. Especially his pretty lips. He hasn’t kissed Kao in what felt like years and Pete would do anything to feel his breath mixed with his own again. He also wouldn’t mind having his dick a few inches inside -
“Said they’re heading this way,” June informed, locking his phone and tucking it away in the back pocket of his jeans. Pete took another swing to get his mind out of the gutter.
“Pete, stop drinking!” June said, grabbing the bottle from Pete’s grip, “Wait until San and Kao comes!”
Pete frowned, pulling the bottle back. “Why should I wait?”
“Don’t get drunk so soon!” June warned, “I don’t want to be taking care of you because you got drunk!”
Pete glared at his friend. “I’m not drunk!”
June rolled his eyes and Thada chuckled beside him before the bottle was taken away from him the second time by June.
“Hey!“
“Guys!”
The trio turned to face the sudden voice, June and Thada immediately greeting Sandee as Pete‘s eyes immediately went to stare at Kao who had the audacity to look good even when they were in a middle of a cold war.
“Hey Pete,” Sandee greeted, forcing his gaze away from Kao and to his female friend.
He raised a hand in a sort of wave. “Hey.” He looked at Kao afterword, frowning when he saw the male not even glancing his way. Asshole, Pete cursed inside his head.
“Did you already start drinking?” Sandee asked, “your cheeks are a bit pink.”
“He wouldn’t even stop after I stole this away,” June said, holding Pete’s bottle up.
“Really?” Sandee asked, sending a concerned look towards Pete. “Did something happen?”
Pete rolled his eyes, sneaking a look at Kao who was watching the conversation between their friends. Pete looked at his boyfriend from head to toe, pausing at his ass. Was he wearing a pair of jeans that were smaller in size? Pete looked back up at Kao’s eyes, watching the way it shined prettily even in the bad kitchen lighting. Pete bet he wore it on purpose just to bug him out.
“Thada already asked,” June answered, “said nothing happened.”
“Because nothing did!” Pete finally stepped in after a loud groan, grabbing his bottle back from June and holding it close to his chest. “I just wanted to drink. Is there something wrong with that?”
“We’re just worried about you, Pete!” June argued with a frown, “Why the hell are you getting so defensive? Or did something really happen?”
Pete opened his mouth to quickly retaliate, but bite his remarks back when Sandee stepped in between them.
“Alright, alright! Let’s not fight!” she said, holding her hands out between June and Pete. “Let’s just drink and get crazy drunk tonight!”
June nodded, followed by Pete and soon the group dispersed. June went off to dance in the main room as Thada and Sandee went off elsewhere, probably to talk. And Pete and Kao were left alone together. Pete took a small sip from his bottle and watched Kao who first stood awkwardly before stepping past him and opening the refrigerator door.
Pete watched him closely, eyeing his strong muscles on his arms as he searched for a bottle. Pete didn’t miss the open chance to blatantly stare at his boyfriend’s ass.
“You still look good,” Pete commented once Kao had closed the refrigerator.
“And you look like a mess,” he said back.
Pete held back from punching Kao in the face, gripping the bottle in his hand as he watched his supposed lover drink his own bottle.
“Guess who made me this way,” Pete gritted through his teeth.
“You did yourself.”
Pete stared at Kao in disbelief before glaring at him. “Why the hell are you acting like a dick?”
Kao shrugged, walking past Pete and placing his alcohol bottle on the counter. Pete followed the male with his eyes and waited for him to turn around, maybe even announce he was just acting mean, but he never did. Pete frowned. How the hell did they even start dating?
“Hey,” Pete said, “do you even like me?”
He noticed Kao’s shoulders tense. Pete wondered if it was because he was right. He swallowed as he waited for Kao’s answer, feeling his hands sweat from anticipation.
“Kao.”
“What do you see in me?”
Pete blinked in surprise. He wasn’t prepared for that. “What?”
Kao finally turned around. “What do you like about me? We barely became friends when you broke up with Mint.”
“I - “ Pete blinked. What did he like about Kao? His brain buzzed for an answer, searching for something to say, but came short. Maybe because he really didn’t have an answer or maybe because he was a bit drunk at the moment. But did he really need to have an answer? He liked Kao because he liked him. “I just like you.”
“But why?” Kao pressed, scrunching his eyebrows. His eyes were wide and watery, looking like a hurt kitten. Pete’s heart stung at the sight.
“I don’t know, I just do,” Pete said, knowing full well that wasn’t a good enough answer. Nothing ever was. Nothing he ever did was enough to prove his love for Kao. “What about you? Why did you agree to date me?”
Kao stayed silent.
“Do you even like me, Kao?” Pete asked, hurt and anger boiling him from his gut or maybe it was the alcohol he had been drinking for the past hour, “you don’t trust me - you don’t believe me when I say I like you!”
“Because I just don’t understand why - “
“Does there have to be a reason?” Pete interrupted, matching Kao’s hurt look, “Do we need a reason to like each other?”
“We barely know each other,” Kao continued, looking down at his fidgeting hands. “We fought a lot before. We hated each other just a few months ago, so how the hell did you even start liking me...”
Pete stood still for a moment, staring at Kao who didn’t make eye contact with him. Pete gripped his bottle as he asked his next question, “Do you like me, yes or no?”
“Pete, aren’t you listening to what I’m saying - “
“Do you like me, Kao?” Pete repeated, more firmly this time, “Yes or no?”
“Pete...”
“Answer the question,” Pete ordered, taking a step towards the male. He took another one when Kao stayed silent. “Kao.”
“Yes. Maybe? I - “ Kao looked up at Pete, puppy eyes and all, “I don’t know.”
“That’s good enough for me.” Pete stepped closer once more and wrapped his hands around his boyfriend, pulling him into a tight hug. “Don’t worry about shit like that. Just quietly fall in love with me.”
“What if one day I realize that I actually don’t like you?” Kao mumbled into Pete’s shoulder, his voice slightly cracking mid-sentence.
“Then make sure you fall in love with me,” Pete answered, placing his alcohol bottle on the counter behind Kao and pressing his boyfriend’s body closer.
“You make it sound like it’s so easy.”
“Well, I’m pretty good at making people fall in love with me, so don’t worry.” Pete pulled away then, making sure to keep their faces just a few centimeters apart, “but seeing you so worried about this situation makes me think you already like me at least a little bit.”
“I guess,” Kao answered, tucking his head down with embarrassment. “Don’t get cocky.”
“Are you still mad at me?” Pete asked, reaching towards Kao’s chin and pulling it up so Kao could look at him.
“Just promise me that you won’t leave me,” Kao said, grabbing a hold of Pete’s hand from his chin.
“I won’t, I promise. I like you a lot, Kao and I know this because I feel it. There isn’t a specific reason on how I started liking you or why I do, but just know that besides all that, I really do genuinely like you. So, please trust me on this.” Pete let their fingers interlock, bringing Kao’s hand in his to his lips before pressing a light kiss on top. “Okay?”
Kao gave a faint smile. “Okay.”
“We’re good now?”
Kao’s smile grew. “Yep.”
“Great,” Pete said, matching Kao’s grin as he looked down at his boyfriend’s precious lips, “I’ve been wanting to devour your lips for so long now.”
Kao laughed. Then, he leaned up and placed a kiss on Pete’s lips, letting it linger together as they both relished the moment. Soon, Pete’s tongue was drawing a line against Kao’s lips for an opening and they feel into the usual pattern of fighting tongues and hushed groans.
Pete pulled away first, wrapping his hands under Kao’s ass and lifting the male on top of the counter, spilling their bottles of alcohol onto the granite. They didn’t care. Their lips made contact once more, sucking and biting, savoring and groaning because it’s been a while and it felt good.
“Did you,” Kao spoke between kissing, “eat jerky?”
Pete hummed, sneaking his hands under Kao’s shirt. “Should we go find a room?”
Kao pulled Pete away, causing the male to whimper in complaint. “I am not having sex with you in a stranger’s house, Pete.”
“Why?” Pete whined, childishly stomping his feet on the kitchen floor. “It’s been a while and I want you right now.” He leaned in a started kissing Kao’s cheek.
“Hell no,” Kao argued, closing his eyes as he enjoyed the small pecks his boyfriend gifted. “I don’t want to wake up in somebody else’s bedroom in the morning. It’d be hell if we had to drive home early tomorrow morning too.”
Pete continued his small kisses, following a line down to Kao’s neck before pulling away with a groan when Kao hit his shoulder to stop. “Fine! But we’re heading to my house to finish this.”
“Fine with me,” Kao agreed with a grin as Pete helped him down the counter.
“I’m making you mine tonight.”
