Bakugou Can't Sleep

Summary:

Now, Katsuki didn't know what he was expecting, but it certainly wasn't the quiet whisper of his name right against the shell of his ear. Needless to say, he jerked away, holding his ear. He was wide awake now, and hopelessly confused. “Deku, what the fuck?”

Notes:

Why isn't asmr a tag yet??????

Work Text:

Blue's overcame oranges as the night finally settled in its place, stars shifting with the half crescent moon too slow to be noticed. Street lamps buzzed to life, guiding the nocturnal animals down twisting paths. The night came up much too fast for Kastuki's liking, but it was upon them and he couldn't do anything about it besides try to sleep more than a few hours. Lately, Katsuki's nights had been sleepless and painful with his nightmares ripping at his head. Sweat would drip down his back and his skin would flinch, his eyes too terrified to open to the horrors he might see.

His only saving grace was his beautiful green eyed dove, Izuku Midoriya. Whenever he jolted awake, he'd feel his partner snuggled against his chest, hair tickling the stubble on his chin. Scarred arms would be wrapped around his body, little snores berating his ears with their breathing in sync. It was paradise, and the only thing that could calm him after his nightmares.

Katsuki wasn't looking forward to night, it was the worst part of his life, he could spend that time sleeping doing anything else productive. Yeah yeah, sleep was important and all that bullshit, it was just annoying when he couldn't get his full eight hours. He could tell his annoyance was starting to show through his facade, Denki had asked what crawled up his ass and died, and even Mina was becoming concerned. The bags under his eyes were noticeable and Katsuki was way more touchy than usual. If he suspects you're even thinking of him, he'll go off. No one really knew how to help. Katsuki didn't know either.

So, once the night fell and the two followed it's luring call, Katsuki found himself in the same position as always. Eyes stretched open, breathing slow with one arm wrapped around his Deku and the other gripping the bed sheets. The shadows along the walls played with his mind as they scraped along the walls. Lights from cars made faces appear, and the noises from the outside world just added to his terror.

His sleep had been going by peacefully, he couldn't remember what it was but he remembered feeling pink. It turned to shit, though, and again, he couldn't remember what had been so shitty about it. It left him feeling hollow and empty, like he'd lost a big chunk of himself. All Katsuki knew was that it left him feeling gross and sick, and all he wanted to do was wrap himself up in Deku.

Something tickled his sides, and he glanced at the angel beside him as he started to awake. “Mng, Kacchan?” Izuku mumbled, rubbing a tired hand against his sleep deprived eye. Tomorrow was his day off, and Katsuki knew he needed as much sleep as he could get.

“Shh, just go back to sleep.” He hushed, fingers tangling in that always ratted green hair. Katsuki huffed when Izuku sat up on an elbow, sleep still drenched his eyes but there was no way he was going to sleep now, at least not for a while. No, Izuku just stared, mouth tight and face swimming with something Katsuki couldn't place. “What, nerd?” He asked, hand still trailing through Izuku's hair.

The greenette set his head against his own shoulder, eyes never leaving Katsuki's, “What's wrong?” He asked in a breathless whisper. Katsuki rolled his eyes, shook his head a little and moved to his side. Deku kept his gaze set on Kacchan, watching the blonde mull over his options with the nightmare in the back of his head. With a shrug, Katsuki stayed silent as Izuku read him like an open book. “Nightmares?” He asked, Katsuki begrudgingly nodding. Izuku sat up, Katsuki's hand falling to the bed.

Izuku pulled at Katsuki's hand, “C'mere.” He ordered, falling against the pillows and patting the spot in front of him. Even in the dark, the movements were awkward and stiff, Katsuki too tired and sleep deprived to question what was going on. Izuku - probably - knew what he was doing, so Katsuki let the bed shift and the blankets fall as he was instructed to turn around, and he did so with a huff.

Now, Katsuki didn't know what he was expecting, but it certainly wasn't the quiet whisper of his name right against the shell of his ear. Needless to say, he jerked away, holding his ear. He was wide awake now, and hopelessly confused. “Deku, what the fuck?”

Izuku sat still, his hands up to continue...whatever the fuck he was doing to Katsuki. Then, Katsuki watched the most amused grin bloom on his face, before Deku howled in laughter. “Oh my God- Kacchan- you...you should've seen your face!” He screeched in pure joy, smiling threatening to rip his face on half. Izuku held his stomach and rolled onto the bed, back against the pillows with that stupid ass smile still on his stupid ass beautiful face.

Katsuki rolled his eyes and shuffled on his knees, crawling over and straddling his still chuckling boyfriend. “Alright, you shit, what was that?” Katsuki barked, his own mouth falling victim to the amused smirk, when Izuku wiped a tear from his emerald, scar encircled eye. He gave Katsuki a rough shove and in an instant the two switched places.

“You know I like to be on top, Kacchan.” Izuku remarked slyly, hands against his chest as he posed in a way that should be downright illegal. Still, Katsuki didn't give in to temptation, Deku's dumbass whisper stunt at the forefront of his mind. “But to answer your question,” Izuku started, getting so close to Katsuki's face he automatically prepared for a kiss.

Instead, Izuku moved to his left ear and whispered, “It was ASMR.” Before he shot back up in a sitting position, waiting for Katsuki's reaction.

It wasn't really as grand as before, his cheeks dusted pink as he gripped his ear again, but other than that, all Katsuki could do was ask what the hell ‘ASMR’ was.

“It means ‘autonomous sensory meridian response’ and it’s when you get relaxed when someone whispers in your ear. Well, it doesn't have to be whispering, it could be tapping, scracting, breathing-”

“Deku.”

“And sometimes, if they do it right, you get these things called 'tingles’ which is when you get goosebumps-”

“Deku.”

“I listen to it at night whenever I have a bad day or you're not home, and I thought maybe it'd help you since you haven't been sleeping and-”

Katsuki pushed the mumbling boy back onto his back, ignoring the surprised yelp that jutted from his mouth. “Deku! Listen, for fucks sake.” Katsuki demanded, setting his hands on the sides of Izuku's fluffy hair. “I appreciate the...whatever that was-”

“ASMR.”

“Right. I appreciate the ASMR, but you be sleeping instead of helping me with this dumbass nightmare spree. So-” Katuski was cut off with a hand to his lips, glare returning full force when Izuku sat up and leaned against the headboard, finger still to his chapped lips.

Izuku cupped his face and started gently tapping his fingers against Katsuki's cheek, earning a confused glare but since his rough boyfriend didn't move away, Izuku took it as a good sign to continue. “Kacchan, just let me do this, please?” The puppy eyes almost always worked with Katsuki, and tonight was no different. Izuku could slowly see the exhaustion and love eat away at his resolve, and he bit back his cheer when Katsuki reluctantly shrugged and got back in position.

Giddy with excitement and a little bit of anxiety, Izuku started with the classic finger fluttering that so many of his favourite asmr-artists do. He wasn't totally sure if it sounded as amazing when he did it, but Katsuki didn't look uncomfortable, so he took it as a good sign.

Izuku decided to test the waters a little, see what Kastuki liked and didn't. Little whispers of his name and trigger words (i.e tickle, stipple, kiss) showed relaxing eyebrows and deep sighs of content. Mouth sounds were off of the board though, as soon as Izuku even tried, Katsuki was moving to stop the whole thing.

“Sorry, sorry, Kacchan. Mouth sounds are a no.”

After a while of quiet whispers, (Katsuki made a dumb joke about how it was weird hearing Izuku whisper his name and not shout it at the top of his lungs. Izuku didn't appreciate it.) Izuku reached over to their bedside desk and grabbed the first thing his fingers could find.

A lube bottle.

Izuku sighed silently and started tapping gently on the bottle, praying to whatever deity that Katsuki wouldn't notice.

“Is that the lube?”

Fuck.

Another auditory sigh, “Yeah- don't laugh! I couldn't reach anything else to tap on- quit laughing.” Izuku pouted, crossing his arms when Katsuki sat up to laugh some more. Izuku couldn't look him in the eyes, but he sure could pout and whine till he was wrapped in a hug.

“Fucking nerd.” Katsuki muttered, chest still vibrating with chuckles. They sat like that for a minute, tangled up in limbs as their breathing synced.

Izuku pressed his lips to Katsuki's temple, “Did it help?”

“Maybe.”

“Kacchan.”

“Yeah yeah, it helped all right?” Katsuki huffed, moving his body so his head was in Izuku's lap. Izuku started inching his fingers through the wild soft spikes, down the nape of his neck. He smiled at the satisfied shiver. They went silent once again, just focused on the loud night sounds of Tokyo.

Katsuki muttered something into the silk pant leg that Izuku had on, shifting to wrap his arms around his waist and get more comfortable. “Kacchan?”

“Love you, nerd.’”

Izuku grinned and used all of his might to not freak out like a school boy who'd just been confessed to by his crush. He held in the squeaks on enjoyment and happiness and pure euphoria, and quietly whispered, “I love you too, Kacchan.”

Notes:

Izuku woke up the next morning with a numb ass, and Katsuki hadn't slept that well in ages. They both decided to make this part of there routine.
