Brainstorm, No-Go, and Hephaestus (The shenanigans of three orphaned vigilantes)

Summary:

Hitoshi Shinsou was abandoned at age 3 due to having a villainous quirk
Izuku Midoriya was orphaned at age 4 due to having no quirk
Mei Hatsume was sent to the orphanage at age 5 due to having a weak quirk
When everybody else pushed these three away, they were pushed together, so guess what happens when a trio of vigilantes appear in the Musutafu area talking about a rigged system?

Notes:

Yes, I know this is terrible, so no hate comments. No, none of them will end up together. I have ships in mind for the main characters, so don't suggest them. There will not be a Adult/Minor Relationship, so don't suggest it. They will not be the canon characters, they rub off on each other, so things are gonna be different, and in a good way. If you suggest side character ships in the comments, please give me reasons to why they are together. I will overrule ships if I wanna. Without further ado, the story

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Life Isn't Fair, But Nobody Ever Cares

Chapter Text

Hitoshi Shinsou’s first three years of life were pretty great. His parents loved him, and he loved his parents. He was relatively calm for a kid his age, slept well, ate well, and was pretty smart. Then at age three, he lost all of that, because of a stupid little gene that let him control other’s actions. His parents disowned him and left him at the orphanage, all because of some stupid genetic fluke. Think that sounds unfair? Well then wait for this next one

Izuku Midoriya’s first four years of life were pretty great. His parents loved him, and he loved his parents. His mom was fairly protective, and made great food. His dad was a bit of a control freak though. His father however couldn’t handle having an imperfect family, and his sanity broke down after finding out is first born son was quirkless. He tried to kill izuku, and his mother prevented that by sacrificing herself. Then his father commited suicide right in front of izuku.
Think that sounds unfair? Well wait ‘til the third.

Mei Hatsume’s first five years of life were pretty great. Her parents loved her, and she loved her parents. Rather one of her parents loved her. After her father comes home from a two year business trip, and finds out about her “weak” quirk, she’s disowned by her parents and sent to the orphanage. Think that sounds unfair? Well it is. It’s discrimination, over something they had no control over. All three of these kids learned at a very young age, that life is unfair, by having everything they love stripped away from them, until they find themselves together in the same orphanage, and become familial buddies.

Hitoshi was never really all that social. Sure, he could laugh and smile and say he was okay, until one year ago, when they slapped a muzzle on him. All because of his quirk, that required conscious activation, and a response from the other person. It was an easily avoidable quirk, but it was villainous, and a villainous quirk can’t be left unchecked can it? That was the case until he was brought a saviors, by the name of Izuku Midoriya. They were the newest to the orphanage, and nobody warned them of shinsou’s quirk. They had to share a room, and as soon as they went to bed, Izuku noticed the muzzle. “Hey, Purple-hair!” He was grabbing my attention, so I nodded slightly, ready to cover my ears for the teasing. “Do you want that thing on your head taken off?” I was taken aback by the offer. I nodded vigorously. This can’t just be a trick, can it? I thought as he took it off, they know i wouldn’t let them put it back on right? “Hi there,” He said, “ My name is Izuku Midoriya, what’s yours?”
“Hitoshi Shinsou, now who do you want me to brainwash, and what do you want me to make them do?”
“Shinsou, what are you talking about? I wanted to help you out. We are roommates after all.”
“Sorry, It’s my quirk. If I ask a question and someone answers, I can make them do various things, but it’s only a limited time before I get a headache.”
“That’s so…”
“Here it comes, I’ll grab the muzzle”
“Unbelievably COOL!!! You could become a great hero, Making villains stop in their tracks before they can get away, or to get information out of people, it’s perfect for an underground hero!”
I was in shock, This guy isn’t just able to hold a conversation with me, but thinks I can achieve my dream of becoming a hero.
“ Well, of course I do, It’s a great quirk”
“Wait can you read thoughts?”
“No, silly. You said it aloud, I’m quirkless.”
“Quirkless, huh. I’ve never met anyone who’s quirkless before.”
“You’re not gonna make fun of me?”
“Nope!” I said, Popping the ‘p’
“Welp that’s confusing then, I’m always made fun of. I’m tired, so goodnight.”
That night, both went to sleep thinking that they had a new friend.

Over the next year, people started to call us villain and henchman, and other nicknames along those lines. We had our own dynamic, that Izuku was the protective one who somehow could always get them out of trouble, and I was the mastermind at getting to people, together they were nearly unstoppable. Then, a new person came along, by the name of Mei Hatsume. She came in, and Izuku, being the charismatic one, decided immediately to greet her nicely, and she joined our clique I guess. We bonded by mutual shunning by others, and she was the last piece we needed to become The Board. You see, we each have our own skillsets. Hatsume is a genius hacker and builder, Izuku can reliably analyze anything in seconds if seen in action and is able to get you out of trouble, and I know what makes people tick and what they will hate.

6 months later and Izuku has a crazy idea…
“Okay guys, hear me out, what if we become vigilantes”
“He’s officially off his rocker,”says Mei, the one who’s constantly blowing up my room
“I said hear me out! Ok so, criminals make lots of money, right? And we all want to be heroes, so what if we go out there and save people, and take a little out of every criminal we beat’s wallet! We can get our own apartment in no time flat!”
“Izu’s right,” I say
“You’re in it for the pun, aren’t you?”
“Yes, I am”
“I’ll make the gear, but it’ll take a few months”
“Okay then, The Board has reached a ruling! We will be vigilantes in-”
“Six months”
“SIX MONTHS!”
Miss, the caretaker, called,”Kids! Someone’s here to see you!”
We went down with the others, and immediately Izu was picked, as always, for pure cuteness factor, and he immediately puts his foot down and says “NO!” as always. Izu, Mei and I have a deal, that we will be siblings one day, could be tomorrow, could be in a decade, but eventually, we will legally be siblings, so every time a family that only wants one kid comes around, we just deny wanting them as a family. I honestly hope that someday is closer to the tomorrow side of the spectrum, and something tells me it is. ( that something is me, cause izu, toshi, and mei need to get into a good household soon, cause they are good kids)

“Brainstorm, I do believe we have some criminal on our hands, hurting that poor girl!”
“Indubitably, No-go.”
“Hephaestus, Previous record, pretty please”
“17 Muggings, 15 attempted murders, 4 2nd degree murders, 3 first degrees”
“Ooh, now hasn’t he been naughty, he needs to go to time out!”
“Some sort of minor hydrokinetic quirk, not too dangerous.”
The serial murderer ran toward us at high speed, attempting attack with a knife, Toshi stood back while I attacked, knocking him out.
I pulled a sticky note out of my pocket, writing down a note, and putting it on his forehead

To the police,
According to our informant, this guy has quite the record, but wouldja please add two more attempted murder charges, and one more to the mugging counter? We also understand this guys been tracked for years but never found, so you’re welcome!
Sincerely,
No-go, Hephaesteus, and Brainstorm
P.S. We’ll be seen around a lot more soon, start getting a task force together!

And on the back,
Who writes on the back of notes, silly! : ) (yes he wrote an emoticon)

As I wrote the note, Toshi took the liberty of lightening his wallet a little, calling the police to pick up the guy and we ran off to continue our patrol.
The rest of the patrol was pretty boring, with no other villains to apprehend according to the police database Mei hacked into, they headed back early, at 1 am, to sleep nicely until 10, where they’d get breakfast, plan, and return to the streets at ten o’clock at night. This went on for about 27 months, until they met up with Eraserhead for the first time.
It was a normal patrol for our amazing vigilante trio, Izu and Toshi on their normal perch, when suddenly (Pineapples… I legitimately wanted to say that in the story) a voice behind them asks, “What are two kids doing here? Do you have a home?” Green instinctively says,”not rea...” before Purple is able to slap his hand over his mouth, grabs Green’s arm and runs. “Guess we have to find a new perch man. Sorry.” Eraser immediately takes a shine to the purple one. He likes his secrets. “Wait, hold up, I just wanna talk.” He uses his capture weapon to attack them, snagging the green one by the leg.
“Zuku!”
“Well, you said you don’t really have a home, so are you in an orphanage?”
“If you can find us in a place we’ll let you adopt us,”says the green one on the ground.
“Do you have a mind-reading quirk?”
“Nah he’s just good at reading people,” The purple one replies
“And he’s good at misdirection,”says the green one as he stands up.
“How’d you get out of my capture weapon so easily?!”
“Yes,” The green one states as he drops below the building and disappears into the night.
An hour later and Shouta’s at home again, and Zashi is waiting for him on the couch
“How’d it go?”
“I found two orphans, and they were smart enough to get out of my capture weapon without me knowing, and then escaping me. I want them.”
“Finally! You agreed with me on kids!”
“Only if it’s these two”
“Still, good compromise. What did they look like?”
“One was in a green hoodie with green eyes and a red bandana, and the other had a purple hoodie, purple eyes, and a yellow bandana.” (Both have their hair pulled back to lead away from their identities)
“ Shouta, we’d be adopting criminals. That matches descriptions of Brainstorm and No-Go, two vigilantes that appeared two years ago, and have taken down crime levels in their area, and even taken down a few most wanted criminals in Musutafu. There is also a third person working alongside them known as Hephaestus, named after the greek god of the forge. Other than that there’s no info, at all.”
“That… would make sense. Still, though, they’d be better students than most of mine, they understand the true values of heroism.”
“They have a lot of fans online, and an unknown quirk in No-go’s case, so there’s lots of speculation, one of the best theories is that no-go has a time stopping quirk, and that’s how they get away so easily.”
“Maybe he does, anyway, we’re searching this weekend. That’s final, let’s go to bed.”
“Kay, Sho.”

The next morning, Izuku, Toshi, and Mei wake to Miss screaming,”Kids, someone here to see you.”
They head down as usual, Izuku still in PJs, and look at the new guys here, looking to adopt. Izuku immediately recognizes them as Eraserhead and Present Mic, and wakes up at Eraserhead wanting to adopt him and Toshi! They ask if it’s okay to take Mei, too, and they said yes. Eraserhead and Present Mic, want to become his parents, and give him a brother and a sister! They talk about it, agree on yes, and run to pack their stuff.
“So you three are the vigilantes that have been running amuck, right?”
“That’s right, Eraser, and Present Mic, it’s nice to have you as my pops.”
Everybody in the car gasps loudly at figuring out the secret identity of Present Mic within an hour of knowing him.
“I figured it out the moment I saw you by the way. It’s not that you’re obvious, I’m just good with details. How many cats do you have?”
“Seriously kid, you’re scaring me. And 4 by the way.”
“Good, not too overwhelming.”
The rest of the day was unpacking, settling in, and Izuku suggesting too many enhancements at once for hero work. The kids already had their own phones, because holy cow, drug dealers make a lot of money. Then there was a ‘getting to know you’ session.
“What are your quirks? Izuku, then Mei, then Hitoshi.”
“Quirkless”
Hizashi did a record scratch.
“Funny joke kid.”
“I’m as serious as you are tired.”
“That’s pretty serious. You’re telling me that half of the most successful vigilante duo in Musutafu is quirkless.”
“Yes.”
“Wow. That’s a surprise.”
“I guess so, but it’s true dad.”
“Mei?”
“Zoom. Effectively a zoom and enhance feature on my vision, up to 5km away.”
“Hitoshi?”
“Brainwashing. If somebody answers my question, I can make them do my bidding for a period of time.”
“Okay time for sleep. I’ve got some people for you to meet tomorrow, so rest up.”
Right after that, Shouta called up Nemuri and Tensei, and told them to meet him at the park tomorrow morning, and for Tensei to bring Tenya with him.

That morning Izuku and Hitoshi woke up to the smell of pancakes, bacon, and eggs, and the sound of present mic waking them up saying “Mornin’ Kids” in a soft tone of voice. Izuku got up, and speedwalked to the table, where their older sister was already sitting with a full plate in front of her. Now there was Dad to worry about. “I’m just gonna run in there and jump on the bed, if that’s okay, pops.” Before he could respond I was off to Dad’s room. I jumped in the doorway landed in an optimal spot for waking him, then backflipped, and stuck the landing. The other three in the door way were holding score signs. Mei’s was a nine, Pop’s was a ten, and Toshi’s was a six point five, being his pessimistic self. Overall a solid 25.5. When dad woke up he clapped half-heartedly, mumbling that it was too early for my antics. Then he remembered something, checked the time and let out a sigh of relief. “Eat and get ready to go to the park kids.”
An hour later, we were at the park, and waiting for someone. One of the people arrived, and I immediately recognized her as the pro hero, Midnight.
“Hey, Shouta, why’d you wanna meet me?”
“Holy crap! You know Dad and Pop?!”
“I wanted you to meet my Problem children, the one with floating hair is Hitoshi, the one with untamable curls is Izuku, and the girl is Mei.”
“They are adorable!”
“It’s nice to meet you Ms. Midnight!”
“Call me Auntie Nemu, Kiddo.”
“Sorry I’m late, Shouta, Why’d ya wanna meet me”
“Oh My Gosh it’s Ingenium! You know Dad and Pop, too?”
“Are these kids the reason?”
“Yes, say hello to Hitoshi, Izuku, and Mei, Hizashi and I’s new problem children.”
“Hi there, my name is Tensei Iida, and this is my little brother Tenya.”
“Woah, leg engines! That’s cool! I take it you’re also trying to become a part of the Iida family hero agency, right Tenya?”
“Yeah.”

(But that is not this story, because that is too happy isn’t it? This story begins with a simple change. Eraser head was caught off guard, and missed.)

“What are two kids doing here? Do you have a home?” Green instinctively says,”not rea...” before Purple is able to slap his hand over his mouth, grabs Green’s arm and runs. “Guess we have to find a new perch man. Sorry.” Eraser immediately takes a shine to the purple one. He likes his secrets. “Wait, hold up, I just wanna talk.” He uses his capture weapon to attack them, barely missing the green one by an inch.
They ran down the building, seemingly defying gravity, or are they using it to boost their speed? Anyway, they got down, in between the buildings into the alleyway and away from Eraserhead, and out of sight. Problem children.

Toshi slapped his hand over Izu’s mouth and ran from his perch, running down the wall, and escaping while Eraserhead is bewildered on the roof. As we walk to the orphanage, we don’t make a peep, until we’re through the window. “Hephaestus, open please,” I state, not wanting to deal with Mei’s shenanigans. “Okay, no horseplay, what happened?”
“Eraserhead almost caught us.”
“I think he wanted to adopt us”
“Well, Izuku should’ve done the talking.”
“He was the one that almost got caught, Mei.”
“But I’m the social one that’s too cute for my own good”
“That would require revealing your identity.”
“Touche.”
“Both of you, go to bed! You’ll need rest for what we’re gonna do tomorrow night.”
Hitoshi and Izuku respond together,” And what are we gonna do tomorrow night, Mei.”
“Stop others from taking over the world!”
And just like that, it was morning again, and time to get ready.
