Work Text:

New Years, 1988. Just past midnight. Our soon-to-be hero stumbles into his dark bedroom. The door is left partially open, allowing just enough light from the hallway to brighten the room. The large seventeen year old throws his body onto the bed, having little energy to do much else in his drunken state. He stares at the ceiling, only being able to recount bits and pieces of the night to himself. He was just glad his mother didn't find him. The last thing he needed was for her to worry. He rolled back towards the door, hoping for sleep to quickly take him away.

He immediately stiffened when he noticed the figure standing inside his door. How could his mother have come in without him noticing? Was he really that far gone? No. This wasn't Holy. This was a stranger. A man, judging by the broad shoulders. But, something seemed… off. Something was missing. His torso. The light from the hallway was shining straight through his torso. This was a dream. He blinked, attempting to adjust his eyes to see who this man was. Wrong. Not a man. A kid. Green school uniform and all. And he was smiling down at him.

The kid took a seat on the floor, coming face to face with the larger boy. His smile only widened. "Jotaro." There was a sense of familiarity in his voice.

"Who are you?" Having accepted that he was dreaming, Jotaro was feeling more bold.

The red headed boy's smile faltered a little. "I was prepared for this but I was hoping it wouldn't have to come to it." He sat up straighter, giving a small bow. "My name is Noriaki Kakyoin. It seems we haven't met yet. But we will soon."

Jotaro was shocked. What could he mean by saying they'd meet soon? They were meeting now. Of course, he had to remind himself that this was only a dream. "What is any of that supposed to mean?"

Kakyoin looked to Jotaro with sad eyes. "Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to explain it all. I was just given enough time to give you an important message." He blinked away some tears, waving a finger in the air. "But, first, I want to give you something. Hierophant Green." He motioned in front of Jotaro, as if he was holding something. "I don't know how long it will stay. But, something to remember." Jotaro blinked, not understanding what was being handed to him. The smaller boy's shoulders fell. "Right." He turned, setting the unseen object behind him on a desk. "Hopefully it's still there by the time you meet Star." He closes his eyes, flexing his fists. He could feel himself start to fade. "I'm afraid I may have to leave now."

Jotaro reached out, not even thinking. "Wait. What was your message you came to tell me?"

The boy's mouth stretched back out into a smile. "I love you, Jotaro Kujo."

Notes:

Ouch. This one is hurt to write. As much fun as JotaKak week was to participate in, I do need to come back to reality. Kakyoin died at the age of 17. Jotaro likely never recovered from the deaths of his friends and companions. Even if Kakyoin never died and the crusaders went on to live happy lives, JotaKak would likely never be canon. Kakyoin’s death was the best thing to happen to this ship. Because we get to see all of the wonderful theoreticals from authors and artists who love this show and these characters.
