“Hello-” He started; he paused as he was struck by the beauty of the man in front of him. Behind the blood, behind the bruises, were the prettiest pair of dark eyes, dark lashes, tanned skin and an earnest look of concern on his face as he tried to consol a tired little girl. The man beside him, his husband, was murmuring a few words in his ear that Jim wasn’t partial to, bouncing a little boy on his knee as he did so. “I’m Jim Hutton, I’m the consultant on duty this evening.”
The husband stood up and offered a hand. “I’m Paul.” He said, voice laced with lazy confidence. “This is my husband, Freddie.”
