Not exactly the righteous way

Summary:

Everyone is having fun. Some may say too much fun. Jiang Cheng belonged to the latter group. Who would have thought he would get involved in the wirlwind of madness and laughter that surrounded him? Honestly, he was just sitting calmly, sipping from his cup, looking around. Until a white clad cultivator looked back at him. And things got out of hand.

Notes:

Here we go ladies and gentlemen. Please be my guests!

Work Text:

The music and laughter could be heard from outside the restaurant the sect leaders had chosen to dinner at. But after an exhausting day full of discussions their behavior was justified. The conference had been long and intense and everyone was begging the heavens so it would end soon. When it did, all they wished for was to call it a night, have fun and release all the accumulated tension.

And what a banquet! As expected of LanlingJin sect. Delicious delicacies came non-stop from the kitchens and alcohol run wild. Conversation and laughter filled the room. Magnificent, indeed.

And there was sect leader Jiang. Cup in hand, glare and frown on display, watching his peers’ words grow bolder by the second as more and more bottles were emptied. Honestly, he was starting to think they were having too much, specially a certain cultivator dressed in white that wasn’t AT ALL used to drinking.

Lan people should have known they couldn’t hold their alcohol the moment Lan WangJi, coaxed by Wei Ying of course, had taken a sip from his cup. Jiang Cheng was kinda surprised at the sudden knock Lan WangJi’s forehead produced when it bumped on the table. He had passed out.

But that happened like twenty minutes ago. He was conscious and doing fine. Very much if you asked Jiang Cheng. As if overrun by an invisible force Lan WangJi had pushed down Wei WuXian into his cushion and was passionately kissing him. How could those two jerks be so shameless?! However, what really surprised him was that nobody seemed to care and some even cheered Lan WangJi on, very amused.

At that moment someone commented, “I’m so envious! I wished my wife was that eager and ready for me. Look at them, that’s a good marriage life!”

Another voice answered, “Ha! At least you have a wife. In my case, I’m afraid I’ll die a virgin!

At that, a bunch of wild laughter bursted and Jiang Cheng rolled his eyes. Who needed a wife anyways?

That first sect leader wiped a few tears from his eyes and tried to catch his breath, “My good friend, why don’t we organized an event to select a wife for you? I’ll lend you a hand!”

“Oh, oh! Let me join you guys! I also want a pretty wife.”

“Yeah, let’s do a group election!”

“Hey! The beautiful lady playing the Erhu, don’t you wanna enter the contest? Do you fancy the price?”, and he wiggled his eyebrows up and down.

“When did it turn into a cont-?”

“And let’s get married all together! Let’s have Lan QiRen officiate the wedding!”

“And then what? Have him watch us fuck our wives and receive his blessings? Don’t be ridiculous!”

“YES PLEASE HAHAHAHAHAHAHA”

Enthusiastic voices joined as madness increased exponentially in the room.

These drunkards. They are about to turn into true beasts ’, Jiang Cheng’s eyes were going to come out of his socket from all the rolling. He couldn’t stop his gaze from falling upon the GusuLan sect leader at the table in front of him. Would he feel outraged hearing those cultivators speak about his uncle in such a disrespectful way?

Well, it didn’t seem like it. He was giggling merrifully as he emptied yet another cup. His cheeks were flushed  a visible red but apart from that he looked perfectly fine and composed. Maybe it was only Lan WangJi who had a specially bad alcohol tolerance.

It was at that moment Jin Guang Yao’s voice surged up, “XiChen-xiong, why don’t you take up the offer and consider looking for a wife as well?”

‘Sect leader Jin is drunk. He clearly is not in his right mind. Otherwise he wouldn’t ask Lan XiChen something like that, right?’ Jiang Cheng thought.

Nie MingJue tried to reason using his last sober neuron, “I agree with sect leader Jin for once. I think it’s a good idea brother. Surely, the Lan sect needs a heir. Isn’t it about time you settle down?”

What a pair. For fuck sake! As if an esteemed cultivator like him would take such words seriously out of this kind of situation.’

Nevertheless, Lan XiChen stopped laughing abruptly and adopted a pensive expression, as if he was actually considering what his sworn brothers said. He tapped his chin a few times and spoke up, “Hmmm, that sounds reasonable, indeed.”

Ok, that was unexpected, but Jiang Cheng wasn’t the least prepared to hear what was about to come the next momento, when Lan XiChen’s eyes landed on him, “Oh! Now that I think about it, isn’t sect leader Jiang in the same situation as I am?”

Jiang Cheng couldn’t feel more uncomfortable when everyone’s gazes fixed on him, “I guess? It’s true that I don’t have any engagement plans currently.”

Lan XiChen clapped his hands together and smiled brightly, “Wonderful!” He exclaimed while jumping to his feet.

He stumbled his way over his table and approached Jiang Cheng’s before sitting again in front of him, “Sect leader Jiang let’s get married!”

“............eh?”

If there was someone not paying attention at this point then, those crazy words pretty much changed that. The crowd bursted into roaring laughter once more. Doubling the volume even.

“HAHAHAHA that’s some nerve he has there!”

“How manly! As expected of sect leader Lan!”

“WangJi, your brother is getting married!”

Someone started to to sing what resembled a nuptial march.

WangJi resurfaced from Wei WuXian and gave a thumbs up before digging in again.

Jiang Cheng couldn’t believe what just came from Lan XiChen’s mouth. He felt his head spin when he looked up to meet the other’s eyes. The alcohol must be getting to him because he suddenly started to feel his face heat up. With eyes wide and hushed voice he whispered, “W-What are you sayin Lan Huan?”

“Exactly what you heard. Marry me WanYin. We are both single, in need of a wife and I never told you but I rather like you. A lot.” His honeyed eyes were as enchanting as his smile and Jiang Cheng didn’t find a trace of mockery in them.

He tried to summon strength and the right words to resist, to argue and reason that this was all said in the spur of the moment, that it was the alcohol talking and that he didn’t really mean it.

“If you do not believe me then let me demonstrate.”

His come back never came since his words got stuck in his throat when a pair of lips sealed his own. This mouth movements were gentle and sweet, dancing over his tenderly. A hand cup his cheek and angled his face for better access and Jiang Cheng, still shocked and unmoving, let him do as he pleased.

When he finally snapped out of it it was too late. The kiss turned open mouthed and a tongue slipped past his lips. The heat on his face went all the way down to his lower half and he could feel currents of electricity travel down his spine. He hadn’t decided what to do but he could feel himself slowly letting go. It was too good to resist.

When they broke apart Jiang Cheng noticed the silence in the room and looked around him. What he found made him incredibly embarrassed. Every present pair of eyes was staring at them, at him. Even Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi had stopped whatever the heck they were doing to look at them.

Face red with shame he looked back at Lan XiChen with the intention of throwing a fit but he just couldn’t. Lan XiChen was looking at him with an intensity that almost scared him. Something at the bottom of his eyes awakened, daring Jiang Cheng to come nearer, hypnotic and dangerous.  He didn’t know when nor how but he found himself leaning forward, never leaving those marvellous eyes.

But suddenly, Lan XiChen leaped over the small table separating them and tackled him to the ground.

Jiang Chen felt dizzy. He couldn’t understand what was happening and barely registered the immense woahs, giggles and clapping that   exploded all around them.

He felt his mouth being taken again, more passionately and aggressively than before. Two hands roamed all over his body making him pant into the kiss. He felt like melting under the other’s weight but soon the lack of oxygen was too evident. When they separated Jiang Cheng took the opportunity to grasp Lan XiChen’s face and make him pay attention to him.

“Lan Huan what’s the meaning of this?”, he said panting, “you are going too far with this joke”.

Lan XiChen took his wrists and pinned them down. He started to grind their lower halves together before answering, “This is no joke WanYin. I really meant it when I asked you to marry me. I am honest when I say I like you”.

Jiang Cheng moaned under the other’s rubbing. He didn’t want Lan XiChen to notice he was growing harder and harder every time their crotchs met so he tried to muffle the sounds coming incessantly from him and tried to bring XiChen back to Earth, “You are drunk, you don’t know what you are saying and you don’t even know where you are. If you knew you would never do something like this in front of every big fish in the cultivation world...nor anyone honestl-AH!.”

A hand had snaked under his robes and pinched a nipple. Lan XiChen mouthed at his neck and, in between sucking and biting, he answered, “Jiang Cheng, while it may be true that the alcohol gave me the courage to act you must know this isn’t the first time I’ve thought how wonderful it would be to have you by my side for the rest of my life. Marry me WanYin, marry me please.”

Jiang Cheng gasped and couldn’t take it anymore. Fuck it if Lan XiChen was going to regret it later. Fuck it if it was illogical for two male sect leaders to marry. Fuck the heirs. Fuck the world’s chit-chat. He didn’t care for hearsay. What he cared for right now was for the gorgeous man above him asking for a lifetime beside him as if he got out from one of Jiang Cheng’s best dreams. He just couldn’t hold back anymore.

Jiang Cheng circled his arms around the other man’s neck and finally kissed him back eagerly.

Truly, he was getting used to the crowd that cheered once more and the comments by the lines of:

“SOMEONE QUICK CALL LAN QIREN! THERE’S A WEDDING TO CELEBRATE!”

“NO, DON’T! HE’S GONNA HAVE A HEART ATTACK!”

“I can’t believe Jiang Cheng got ahead of me…”

“GET A ROOM YOU TWO!”

“Brother I’m so happy for y-”

“LAN XICHEN WILL BE MY BROTHER IN LAW HAHAHAHA!”

Things were getting out of control to the point where a few tables were flipped over and several people were laying of the floor laughing their asses off if not passed out. But did Jiang Chen care? Hell no. He was more concerned for the hand that moved lower and lower than for the havoc wrecking on the peripheral of his vision.

Nevertheless, as happy as he was he couldn’t and wouldn’t give that kind of show before all this people. How would he face them after that?

He struggled to push Lan XiChen away to try put some space between them. He got to flip around and crawl  away a bit but Lan XiChen gripped his hips firmly and pushed him down again, his chest now over his back. Now he had done it. He couldn’t move an ounce.

Lan XiChen resumed his grinding and rubbing this time against his ass. The position they were in offered a rather lewd sight to their audience.

“Hey hey, aren’t they going a bit to far? If they carry on...” Nobody moved though.

Jiang Cheng whimpered involuntarily when a hand started stroking his sex through the clothes. He was fully erect by now and he could feel the pleasure escalating quickly. The thrusts from behind increased in speed and Jiang Cheng almost forgot his whereabouts and was tempted to move his hips back to meet XiChen’s hard member.

However, he couldn’t have that. Not now at least.

With a superhuman effort he turned his head back and stuttered, “L-Lan Huan stop it mmh! We can’t do this in front of everyone-Ah! Don’t move! Alright, a-alright you win! I’ll marry you if you stop!”

Hearing that last sentence Lan XiChen stopped, giving a look as if he couldn’t believe what he just heard. He left his head hung low in an attempt to hide the smile that carried all the emotion, tenderness, satisfaction, and utter happiness he’d been hiding inside of himself.

Lan XiChen stayed like that for a few seconds before he cupped Jiang Cheng’s face and kissed him lovingly one last time before passing out.

***

The morning sun caressed Lan XiChen’s face as he woke up slowly. He had a huge headache and was confused for a moment. Little by little the memories from last night came to him. When he was totally aware of what had happened he couldn’t help but facepalm himself and bury his face on his arms. Just what in the world did he do to Jiang Cheng.

He had wanted to find a proper opportunity to confess to him. If he agreed maybe the could have had dates and spend time together before the proposal and more...eh...intimate business. But now he was done for. He felt dread and sadness and gosh he was so stupid. He must apologize as soon as he gets the chance to meet him.

Then, he felt movement on the bed. His eyes opened wide when he saw an awakening sect leader Jiang next to him.

Jiang Cheng rubbed his eyes and stretched. When the blur in his vision disappeared, he saw a very tense and mute Lan XiChen staring at him, preparing for his death.

To his surprise, Jiang Chen only stared back as if nothing was the matter. He twisted his forehead ribbon in his hand and simply said, “So, when’s the wedding?”

Notes:

Well, that's that. Even though I don't have a beta reader I tried my best to make it legible. English is not my native language so I must apologize for any possible mistakes. Also, even though this is not the first fic I write (though I never manage to finish them) it is the first one I publish so I'm kinda nervous. Constructive criticism is always very much welcomed.
Thank you very much for reading and hopefully see you next time! (^o^)~
(I normally write messed up stuff tho...)
