Pete had always been the obvious possessive one. After all, he had realized his feelings for Kao b ecause he had gotten jealous.
Pete liked to have Kao to himself, and any time he had to share him with someone new, like Non, he got extremely defensive.
But he wasn’t the only possessive one. While Kao didn’t like showing his emotions much, especially his jealousy, he liked to know Pete was with him, and only him.
So, only a month or so into their relationship, Kao became obsessed with the idea of leaving hickeys all over his boyfriend.
It felt sorta childish at first, as if they were still in high school, but seeing those purplish marks in places that only Pete and him could see convinced him to keep going.
It became a sort of game, keeping up with them fading away so he could put new ones in their place. That way, Pete would always be marked as his.
That night, they got very little sleep, though, which made for quite an embarrassing situation. Kao loved his boyfriend’s neck, though he always made sure not to leave any hickey high enough so they could be seen.
He was still wary of people knowing about them. He knew Pete was ready to come out to their friends, but he wasn’t sure he was. So knowing Pete was wearing the hickeys made by his mouth was a reassuring thought he had during the day.
But that night, they had drank with the cool gang which had made him sort of lose control.
Pete still smelled nice, even after a whole day outside in the heat. Kao buried his face in his neck as they laid in bed, Kao half laying on top of his boyfriend.
“Kaoooo,” Pete uttered, words slurred.
“What?” Kao wondered from where he was still buried.
Pete laughed. “Your breath tickles me.”
Kao smiled. “Deal with it.”
Slowly, as they were half falling asleep, Kao’s tongue touched Pete’s skin, making him laugh again. It was salty. Kao liked it.
He started to kiss his boyfriend’s neck, before finding a spot right under his neck he started sucking.
“Mmmm, this is gonna leave a mark,” Pete fought helplessly, incapable of moving any part of his body.
Kao ignored him, tightening his arm around his chest and finding another spot he liked.
At one point they must have fallen asleep because they were awoken by Pete’s dad telling them they’d be late for class.
Then ensued a race to arrive on time, similar to the one they had when they had first hooked up. Somehow, they arrived one minute before it was too late, but it was still extremely hard to follow that first class with a hangover.
Kao exhaled gladly once the bell rang, knowing they had a lunch break so he could try and find his focus for the rest of the day.
The cool gang reunited around his and Pete’s desk, chatting about the class and the night before. Kao turned to look at his boyfriend, and his face transformed into pure panic.
It was June who pointed it out first, of course it was. June’s favorite occupation was making them suffer with his assumptions. Kao knew that he had probably already guessed it, what was going on between Pete and him, but it still felt scary.
Especially now that Pete’s entire neck was covered in hickeys. And it wasn’t the very low part of it like Kao would sometimes feel adventurous enough to kiss, but the extremely visible part of it. You’d have to be blind to miss it.
“Aw, Pete, has Kao finally accepted your advances?” June mocked.
Pete looked at him with a confused look as Thada exploded in laughter and Sandee sent them a sorry look.
“What do you mean?” Pete asked, eyebrows furrowed, turning to Kao who could only shoot him a panicked look.
June pointed to his neck. “Well, the hickeys. You’ve got so many that it looks like a necklace.”
Pete struggled to find words, which only made Kao want to speak in his place.
“Well, he probably hooked up with a girl,” he tried to explain, which was a mistake.
“Ai’Kao,” June laughed. “A girl, or you? Pete didn’t meet any girl yesterday and was too drunk to seduce anyone anyways.”
“You were also the one who took him home, didn’t you?” Thada added, and shit.
It felt like it was the end of their whole secret, which made Kao feel extreme anxiety all of sudden.
That was until Sandee hit June and Thada on the head with her notebook, coming once again to their rescue.
“Ai’June, Ai’Thada, as if you weren’t completely blackout drunk and would remember if another girl was with us yesterday!” she exclaimed while her boyfriend looked at her full of apology. “Come on, let’s eat, I’m starving.”
She then, like the life-saving queen she was, pushed the two other boys towards the door while glaring at Pete and Kao who could not look more grateful.
As Kao sighed, he looked more clearly at Pete who looked absolutely ravaged. Half of his neck was purple, which, he had to admit, really turned him on.
“Ai’Kao, what the fuck have you done to me?!” Pete shouted as he looked at himself on his phone.
“I was drunk!” he replied, hands in the air as a sign of innocence. “And you weren’t against it!”
Pete stared at him for a moment, his glare transforming into a teasing gaze.
“You really couldn’t help yourself, could you?”
Kao pouted, feeling slightly embarrassed. Pete passed an arm around his waist, guiding him out of the room, before whispering in his ear: “You know I love it.”
