“Hmmm, Pete,” Kao begged, trying to push his boyfriend’s arms off him. “Get out of bed.”
As he felt Pete’s head shake against his chest, Kao sighed. It had been a good idea to schedule their alarm an hour early. Kao knew Pete would pull something like this, he was already quite clingy but it became approximately ten times worse when Pete was nervous.
“Peeeeete,” Kao exclaimed, pushing once again.
“Kaoooooo,” Pete replied, and Kao knew he was smiling.
With a huff, Kao gave up, and hugged his boyfriend back instead. Pete seemed content and snuggled even closer. Kao looked down at Pete’s jet black hair resting under his chin.
“I’m scared,” Pete finally admitted.
“Yeah, I know,” Kao replied, caressing his back softly. “But you’ve rehearsed with the bear, haven’t you? And with me lots of times as well.”
Pete’s head detached from his chest so he could look at Kao. “But I’m never uncomfortable with you. The rest of the world, though… is scary.”
“Pete,” he said, hands grabbing his face so they could see eye to eye. “What about the cooking video, uh? I told you to look at me and you did and afterwards everything went smoothly. Except cooking wise.”
Pete pinched his waist causing Kao to laugh, shifting onto his left side with Pete still attached to his chest.
“No but seriously, you look at me, okay? And everything will be fine.”
Pete pouted. “And if it’s not?”
“Then,” Kao reflected, “I’ll just jump on stage and save the day.”
Pete chuckled, leaving a kiss in his neck, making him shiver. “You don’t know the speech, though.”
Kao looked at his boyfriend with a smug look. “You think I haven’t memorized it by heart with all the rehearsals you’ve had in front of me?”
Pete laughed. “My boyfriend is so cool. Even my solo projects are shared with you.”
Kao smiled and nodded, letting himself close his eyes for a few minutes.
Pete spoke again, though. “Do you think we’re already like a married couple like June keeps saying?”
It was meant as a joke but Kao’s eyes were immediately opened, staring at him with an unreadable expression. He shrugged. “Maybe. We do spend a lot of time together.”
Pete’s hands caressed Kao’s cheeks. “Not only that, we always support each other when we have to do something solo, we basically live together… and I already can’t see myself spending the rest of my life without you.”
“Ooooh,” Kao teased, “you’re so cheesy.”
“You love it.”
They kissed softly, and Kao could already feel Pete relax significantly next to him.
“Okay, let’s get out of bed,” he ordered gently.
Pete shook his head which he put right back on Kao’s chest , arms tightening around his back.
“No, let’s stay like this ten minutes longer. I know you’ve woken us up an hour early,” he smiled smugly.
Kao rolled his eyes. “Fine, but don’t try to go any further, we don’t have time,” he mocked as he compressed Pete against him even more.
Sometimes it felt good to both be the clingy boyfriend.
