Work Text:
Heavy foot prints thudded against the concrete. His black boots covered in dirt and dust as he lugged his gauntlets and gear up the steps to his front door. The ash blonde fumbled with the keys in his hand, quietly cursing to himself as he clumsily failed a few times before successfully getting the damned piece of metal into the hole to finally unlock the door to his humble abode.
‘11:04’ the clock read as he stepped into the genkan and threw off the boots of his hero costume, as well as throwing his bag onto the floor in the process.
His body heavy and tired from a long day of hero work, he trudged through the hallway and into the living room where he collapsed onto the nearest seat.
The house was silent, only the faint ticking of the clock echoing through the space. Bakugou’s body sprawled across the couch, his head hanging over the top and his limbs lazily spread out, dirtied with old and a few new scars from battles.
Closing his weary eyes, his mind blank and tired, he probably wouldn’t have enough energy to make it to the bedroom but not at all minding to spend the night on the couch.
Just as he was on the bridge of knocking out completely, a pair of hands landed on his shoulders, making the male peek his eyes open. Crimson irises met with familiar (e/c) ones he knew too well.
“Welcome home” your soft voice sang like a melody through his ears. A tune he loved and would replay nonstop as he pleased.
“You’re awake” his deep voice cracked slightly, his eyes struggled to keep open but forced his lids to hold up as he wanted to gaze at your face a little longer.
Your face hovered above his, your hair hanging down and brushing against the side of his face as you looked down at your lover with a sweet smile gracing your soft pink lips. Oh, how badly he wanted to kiss it and surely you felt his desire and ultimately leaned down to place mold yours against his own like a perfect puzzle piece.
“It’s not too late, Hanabi was really good today so I’m not that tired.”
Recalling the 3 month old baby that peacefully snoozed away in her crib. The newest member of the Bakugou family brought into the world just months ago, and becoming the new light of you and Katsuki’s life. Her name derived from the male himself – known for his explosions – his new mini me a beautiful imitation of his power as fireworks in a summer festival.
The memory of the male shedding tears in the delivery room when he held the small bundle of life him and the love of his life created together was enough proof that dreams do become a reality.
“You should still get to bed. You need to rest, who knows when the kid will wake up screaming her lungs out.”
You let out an airy giggle, dropping down on your elbows to rest against the top of the couch on either side of your husband’s head. Your hands clasping together in front of his chest and is own coming to wrap around them. Your face now mere centimeters from his.
“You should speak for yourself. Rather spend the night on the couch instead of in bed with me?” you teased.
A smile graced his lips, “No way in hell I’d pass up an opportunity like that.” he pulled at your forearms. Urging you silently to join him on the couch, in which you complied, leaving your stance from behind him and maneuvering around the furniture to get closer to your husband. His hand guiding you to sit on his lap.
Instinctively he wrapped his strong arms around your waist and pressed his cheek against your chest, peppering kisses to whatever bare skin was available above the neck of your top.
“Clingy much?”
You could feel your husband pout against your skin, only a guttural growl leaving his lips.
Another soft giggle left your lips.
“Now I can’t tell who’s more clingy, you or Hanabi.”
“Shut up.”
A hand came to stroke through his unruly locks, the other softly massaging his shoulder.
“Well I guess that’s just another thing you two have in common, other than the relentless screaming. Just can’t seem to get enough of me, like father like daughter, right?” you teased
Katsuki clicked his tongue, but couldn’t help the grin that pulled his lips. He wouldn’t admit it but he loved the little attitude you had. The way you always found a way to tease and rile him up even if it were just a simple joke. The little snark and spice that had him gravitating towards you in the first place. Everything little thing about you, he loved it with all his heart and couldn’t ask for anyone better to be the mother of his children.
“You’re an idiot.” he sighed.
“Yeah but you love my idiot self.”
He pressed another kiss to your collarbone, “Yeah, yeah.”
It was silent for a moment. Your fingers twirling strands of his hair between your finger tips.
“Have you eaten dinner?” you asked quietly. The male only shook his head.
You frowned, “You should eat. It’s already late but you shouldn’t skip your meals.” you lightly scolded. But Katsuki didn’t care, he was only focused on breathing in your scent and the softness of your body against his. You could scold him all you want but you were all he needed right now.
“You’re soft.” he whispered breathlessly and burying his face deeper into your skin.
You sighed, “And you’re like a big baby.” patting his head, “Oh, what am I going to do with you Katsuki.”
Lifting his head, “You can give me a kiss, that’s what you can do.” managing to shoot you a smirk, despite trying to hide his fatigue. You rolled your eyes, “Just like I said, so needy like a big baby.” but you still granted what he wanted, pressing your mouth to his and moving your lips in a passionate dance you two practiced often. His large hands caressing your sides, squeezing at your hips. One traveling up to tangle in your hair, guiding you to tilt your head and deepening the kiss. Eventually you parted, looking at him with hooded eyes and a blush on your cheeks. Your now swollen rosy lips opened slightly as you panted. You two shared a loving expression, your eyes drowning him in, sinking him deep into you (e/c) sea, urging him to dive in once more to get lost and explore your wet cavern.
Your tongues tangled once again, much longer this time that you couldn’t take it and patted his chest in surrender.
“At least let me breathe for a second. Getting a little eager aren’t we, Katsuki?”
He pinched your side at your continuous teasing, but your snide remarks had a shiver going down his spine and his nerves jittering in excitement. Man, he just couldn’t get enough of you.
“Can’t help it babe, you just taste so good.”
You rolled your eyes again, “Well I’m not dinner, and if you’re not going to eat then at least properly go to bed. I don’t want to have to lug your body up the stairs like last time, you’re heavy ya’ know.”
He hummed, “I don’t know, you look like a pretty good meal to me. As I recall from the times I ate you-”
“Whoa there!” you threw a hand over your husband’s mouth just before he could finish that dirty sentence. “I’m gonna stop you right there horn dog. If that’s your flirtatious attempt to get in between my legs, then you can forget about it. It’s getting late and you have work tomorrow.”
Katsuki looked at you with an annoyed pout, he was just starting to shake off his fatigue but utterly shot down and cockblocked by his own wife.
“What the hell (y/n), we haven’t done it in fucking forever-”
“And as I recall, that was your excuse a year ago that got me pregnant.” you narrowed your eyes with a knowing look. Katsuki’s breath hitched.
It was true. He had taken on too many missions, too eager to reach the top and get closer to number one. You supported his dream, as you shared the similar dream of becoming a hero like him but yours was never so up scale. You loved his drive in his ambitions but you also missed him being next to you. Albeit not being around, he kept a promise to you, that he would be back better and stronger than ever to love and support you. That he would be your number one for the rest of your life.
And when he came back home after a 3 month long mission. He scooped you into an embrace, whispering adoration and sin into your ear all night long. Failing to notice the lack of protection.
“Hanabi wasn’t exactly planned, due to someone’s impatience.”
Katsuki clicked his tongue, “Like you weren’t as impatient as I was. You jumped on me before I could even make it through the door.”
“But it wasn’t my fault that you took on missions back to back, neglecting your wife and leaving her at home alone- hmph! Just like now!” you pouted, crossing your arms in front of your chest so that he could no longer bury his face into your skin. You stood from your seat on his lap and stomped towards the kitchen, acting slightly annoyed. The ash blonde still sat on the couch in shock at your switch in mood, little did he know you were hiding a smug little smile behind your back.
“(y/n) come back! Are you seriously mad now?”
He got up and trekked into the kitchen, following after you. Your back was facing him as you stood in the middle of the kitchen. If you were to turn around, too easily your little ploy would be given away as the smile that stretched across your features was too hard to suppress.
“I stay at home all the time taking care of the baby, waiting for you. And when I do get to see you, you decide to tease me. It’s unfair, Katsuki.”
“Unfair-” Katsuki stared at you incredulously, “Baby, you know I was just joking-”
“Well it wasn’t funny.”
You would’ve thought that he would’ve easily caught on to your little game, being that you never actually really got offended at such simple things. But Katsuki never really knew with you. You were an ongoing mystery, finding out new things about you despite being together for almost 10 years. But that was another thing about you that drew him to you. You were like one of the Seven Wonders of the World, and he was thirsty with curiosity to know what more you could surprise him with.
“Come on (y/n)! Don’t be like that I was only kidding. You know I love you and Hanabi, if I had the time to spend with you two I would take it in heartbeat-”
He came closer to you, wrapping his arms around your form and resting his head on top of yours. Swaying your body lightly with his. This time you couldn’t hold it in anymore.
You giggled, “I know, I know. I was kidding, of course I’m not mad.”
You turned around in his arms, tilting your head up to give your husband a kiss on his pouty lips when a high pitched cry screamed through your home.
You sighed, “Well, now I have to go take care of the actual baby.” you reluctantly pushed out of your husband’s embrace, making your way towards the stairs, “Eat something before you come to bed, or else I won’t let you hold me.” you called back.
Katsuki frowned at your retreating form. “As if you’d be able to keep me away” he said to himself. “What was that Katsuki?” you called back, peeking over from the stairs with a quirked brow. Katsuki quickly pulled open the fridge, pretending to busy himself to avoid anymore confrontation from you, “Nothing babe, just go take care of the brat.”
You continued back up the stairs, “I told you to stop calling her that!”
~ ~ ~
5 minutes after you left, the crying came to a stop. Katsuki sat alone at the dinner table eating leftovers from your dinner that night, wishing that you were there accompanying him at the table instead tending to his child, albeit thankful for your aid with the child. He doubts he would ever get Hanabi to stop crying as fast as you did, well, mainly being that you had grown accustomed to calming down your child after being at home taking care of her 24/7. But it didn’t stop him from dreaming that you were sitting across from him, enjoying a nice home cooked meal together instead of just microwaved 4 hour old leftovers.
Once he finished, he cleaned up the kitchen, turning off all the lights and double checking the locks on the doors and making sure that the security system was armed. As he made his way to the stairs he was met with you standing at the top, now clad in your nightgown and Hanabi delicately cradled in your arms.
“She was awake for a little bit but now she’s starting to fall back asleep.” you whispered, gently bouncing in your place. Katsuki approached the two of you, looking down at the small bundle in your arms. Pink pudgy cheeks smushed against your chest, and short strands of (h/c) hair messy scattered around the fragile scalp of his daughter’s head. Her tiny hand gripped the fabric of her mother’s clothing as she clung to you protectively.
“Hey kid” Katsuki spoke in a low voice, careful not to startle the child. Her small eyes crept open to gaze up at the identical crimson irises she shared with her father. A faint noise came from her tiny mouth as she stirred back awake and her other hand reached out to toward the ash blonde. Katsuki reciprocated the action, instead extending his index finger into Hanabi’s tiny palm giving her something new to hold onto. Her hand barely wrapping around the entirety of her father’s finger.
Katsuki smiled softly.
“Her hand barely wraps around your finger.” you giggled, “She’s so small.”
“Yeah, but I know she’s going to be just as strong as me when she gets older. She’s got my blood after all.” your husband smirked. You sighed, “Well, I just hope your blood doesn’t make her as dumb as you, at least she’ll get my smart genes.” you retorted with a teasing scoff.
Katsuki threw you a glare only to be met with a playful stick of your tongue.
“But I do know for sure that she got her cuteness from me, she’s gonna be a head turner like her mother.” you giggled, earning a grimace from your husband.
He feigned a gagging noise, “Gross, if she takes her looks from you then guys will be turning their heads alright. Turning their heads to run in the opposite direction.”
He deserved the elbow to his side.
“Yeah, says the one who bothered to turn their head and run after me.” you snided, looking at him with a challenging brow. Katsuki was about to give another refute when Hanabi began to whine. The baby seemingly bothered by the lack of attention from her parents due to their ongoing banter. Either that, or it was time for bed again.
And in an instant your motherly instinct was back on.
“I’ll go lay her back down, you go get ready for bed. It’s getting late and you have work tomorrow.” you reminded him.
Katsuki chose not to argue with his wife anymore. She was right, although he wouldn’t admit it, and he was getting tired. The thought of having to wake up right before the crack of dawn had the growing bags under his eyes weighing down. So he made his way into your shared bedroom and freshened up in the bathroom.
When he finished his nightly routine he found you curled up in a fetal position on the bed. Phone in your hand, staring at the bright screen as you scrolled through social media, checking what you missed throughout the day while you were on baby duty. You were trying to keep your attention on the newest picture that Ochako had posted with their own baby, but the fatigue was gradually catching up on you and your eyes started to waver in and out of consciousness. In which your husband didn’t fail to notice.
“Oi, put your phone away and go to sleep. For someone who’s big talk about me going to bed, you’re over here forcing yourself to stay up just to be on that damn phone.” he sneered but the teasing grin on his lips held a different malice.
“Shut up… what are you? My dad?” you tried to bite back, but your voice was slowly wavering to a whisper and your eyes finally closed. Dropping your phone face down on the mattress as you gave in to sleep.
The ash blonde chuckled, “No, but I do recall you calling me daddy-”
A firm kick was landed into his stomach.
“Ugh, just go to sleep Katsuki.”
Katsuki clicked his tongue, “Fucking cockblock…”
Switching the lights off, he moved to his side of the bed. On instinct, you scooted your body closer to his. “Katsuki, hold me.” you whined. And he did just that. Pulling you into his strong arms, you buried your face into his chest and his chin perched above the crown of your head. He would 100% deny that you had him wrapped around your little finger, arguing that it was the other way around, but he very much indeed was completely and utterly whipped for you. Loyally granting any request from you no matter how much he complained and acted reluctant towards it, he would always deliver. Bakugou Katsuki was more than happy to do anything for you and your family.
“Mmm, you’re warm Katsuki.”
A deep chuckle reverberated in his throat. “Look who’s being the baby now.”
You barely had the energy to speak, but you still pulled through. Despite your exhaustion you always found a way to respond back to your husband. Your fire never dying and that’s what initially had him falling so head over heels in love with you.
“I don’t care… let me be the baby for once… take care of me, Katsuki…” your voice was dying down, barely a whisper now. He stroked a hand through your hair. The action you loved, that would always knock you out of consciousness.
Katsuki let out another chuckle, although much weaker this time as fatigue was catching up to him as well.
“You know I’ll always take care of you. You and Hanabi…both little brats.”
You couldn’t even answer back anymore as you had completely succumbed into dreamland. The noise that resounded the room was an inaudible hum from your lips followed by your light steady breathing. Katsuki eyed the baby monitor to make sure his daughter was ok before closing his own eyes, falling into slumber and holding you tight in his arms.
~ ~ ~
It didn’t feel like much time had passed after the two had knocked out cold. But when the crying of his 3 month old baby echoed through the room, Katsuki irritably squinted his eyes open.
‘4:05’ the clock read, the male would have to get up in 2 more hours for work and the blood curdling cry of his child wasn’t the way he would’ve liked to be woken up. But what could he do? It was his 3 month old baby, it was his responsibility to take care of her, but when his wife shifted underneath him, slowly waking from unconsciousness to tend to her child, she lightly jumped when a large hand pushed her back down by her shoulder.
“Go back to sleep, I’ll take care of her.”
“No, you should keep sleeping you have work in a few hours-”
“Let me do it.” he cut you off, already annoyed at the shrilling crying in his ear, he didn’t need to start an argument so early in the morning.
“But-”
He dropped his lips onto yours. Finding it was the best way to ultimately shut you up without causing any more conflict. When he pulled back he looked at you with an unreadable expression, and your eyes open wide staring at him with a light blush on your cheeks.
“Don’t worry about it, you’ll be dealing with her all day let me take care of my own fucking kid for once.”
You gave him a tired smile, eventually giving up you surrendered back into the mattress. “Thank you Katsuki.”
And with that the ash blonde left.
~ ~ ~
The alarm clock blared in your ears.
When it didn’t go off after a few minutes, you smashed the damn thing yourself. Your eyes angrily glaring at the bright numbers being the only thing lit in the dark room. You stretch out your limbs with a pop in your joints and turn to the other side only to be faced with an empty mattress. Sitting up, you looked around the quiet room wondering where your husband had gone.
‘Did he leave early?’
You couldn’t recall if he came back after he went to calm down Hanabi, as you were out cold once your head hit the pillow again. You looked at the baby monitor only to find that it was turned off.
Too tired and confused, you reluctantly got up to go investigate the disappearance of your husband. As you stepped into the hallway, making your way down towards the baby room, you heard a faint snore bounce off the walls.
And that’s where you found him.
The sight you saw when you stepped into the room had your heart squeezing and falling in love all over again.
Bakugou Katsuki in all his glory, laying in the baby crib with his child laying on his chest. The two in deep sleep without a care in the world.
It was too precious to not take a picture.
Unfortunately, good things had to come to an end. The thought of having to wake up your husband pained you, seeing at how peaceful he was cuddled up with your daughter.
“Katsuki, it’s time to wake up.” you softly spoke, gently shaking your husband. Only getting a low groan in response.
“Katsuki” you shook him again.
He stirred in his sleep. His brows furrowing into a scowl.
“What time is it?” he mustered out.
“6:10”
“Fuck…”
He shifted again, keeping a hand on Hanabi’s back to hold her against him. You thought he was finally moving to get up but the idea was forgotten when your husband didn’t move from the crib. Instead falling back to sleep in a new position.
“Katsukiii”
A low hum came from his throat and he still made no action to move.
“You’re gonna be late.”
Still nothing.
You stared at him. Arms crossed across your chest. Feeling a bit annoyed, half due to your husband not getting up, but more so feeling a bit envious of how the two were so comfortable curled up together. You had a sudden urge to just climb into the crib and join them for some shut eye.
But it was best that you didn’t as the crib already seemed to be dipping with Katsuki’s added weight.
“Katsuki.” you called out one more time, “You have to get up.”
He let out another groan, “Urgh… fuck it- I’m calling out today.”
Your eyes widened in shock.
“Are you serious?”
“I’m too fucking tired… besides…” his voice was quiet, nearly a whisper. His other hand rubbed up and down his face, “I want to spend time with you and the kid…”
Katsuki refused to open his eyes, feeling shy from the minuscule confession and because he knew you had that stupid grin on your face. That bright giddy smile you made when you extremely happy that totally didn’t send his heart rate skyrocketing.
“Awww you wanna stay in with me and Hanabi~ how sweet!” you cooed. Katsuki clicked his tongue, “Shut up before I change my mind, I knew you were gonna be fucking annoying about it…” he grumbled. His hand covering his face, hiding his blush.
He couldn’t lie. The thought of spending time with you and the baby surged a feeling of excitement through his body. It had been a while since he got to spend time with the two of you. And after seeing how quickly you were to knock out after offering to calm down Hanabi, the least he could do was alleviate your labor for once. This also gave him time to bond with his child since it was becoming more and more rare for him to spare time for his family with his growing popularity.
You giggled, “Sorry, I’m just happy…” you kneeled down next to the crib, laying your head against the railing. “I really miss you ya’ know.”
His eyes finally met yours. You were gazing at him with such love in your eyes. Your pink lips turned in a soft smile. He felt his heart starting to race. It astonished him how the smallest things you did had such an effect on him, he swore to himself that you had some kind of second secret quirk, but it was just you. It was all you and he couldn’t love anyone the same as he loved you.
He was the conflict and you were the peace.
He was the moon and you were his sun.
When he went insane you were his sanctuary.
He never knew how much he needed someone until he met you.
“You’ve been working too hard, it’s the least I can do. What kind of dad would I be if I weren’t here for my woman and kid?”
You snickered, “A pretty fucking terrible one.”
He smiled back at you. He always found it cute when you cursed.
“It’s still early, I wish I could join you two but it looks like that crib might just give up any moment now so I’m going to head back to bed.”
You got up and started for the door. Looking over your shoulder “Care to join me? Or do you prefer to sleep with Hanabi?”
Katsuki scoffed, “Yeah right, it’s cramped as hell in here and Hanabi doesn’t have a memory foam mattress.” you laughed, “I’ll meet you in the bed then, Mr. Bakugou.”
The male was climbing out of the crib. Still carefully holding the baby in his arms. Once out, he gently placed her back into the crib and cautious not to make any noise as he left. Checking one more time at his child before closing the door. He caught up with you in the hallway. A mischievous smirk blind to your eyes as he picked up his pace towards you.
Planting a firm smack to your behind, a squeak of surprise ripped from your throat and you shot your husband a glare.
The fucker was still smirking down at you.
“What are you looking at, Mrs. Bakugou?”
You gave him a pout, “Don’t start now, it’s too early, Katsuki…” you whined, “And I’m still tired. Your damn alarm clock woke me up.”
The ash blonde hummed, but his wandering hands came to rest back on your butt as you entered the bedroom. You tried to swat him away but his hands magnetized back to your bottom each time.
“Katsuki- quit it! Hey!” despite trying to deny him, his little game was keeping you awake and you started to laugh. Tackling you to the bed, he began tickling you sides, earning sweet giggles pouring from your lips. It was like music to his ears and he couldn’t help making it replay over and over again.
“Katsukiiiii” you whined, in between your gasps for air, “Jeez, what’s with you. Now I’m wide awake”
He smiled, “Good. You’re going to need to be awake for what we’re about to do.”
You quirked a brow questioningly but your husband didn’t respond. But with the way he was grinning down at you, you knew all too well what he was insinuating.
“Don’t you think it’s too early for that?”
He scoffed, “It’s never too early. Besides, I have the day off, don’t I? Wouldn’t want to waste it would we?”
Your unconvinced expression turned to one of agreement. He was right.
“Well then what are you waiting for Mr. Bakugou? Weren’t you so eager last night, as I recall?”
A deep chuckle vibrated in his throat, sending chills down your spine. Oh, here it comes.
“Oh I sure was, but I do recall you denying me so many times. I’m not going to let you off so easily, Mrs. Bakugou.”
The couple laughed, and thus sinking into each other’s loving embrace. This life he shared with you, and the life he created with you, he swore to protect for the rest of his life. This family he started, he wouldn’t trade for the world – because you were already his world.
You were his sanctuary.
