FRaGIL E - [Now with subtitles]

Summary:

A story where things disappear from UA campus, where Katsuki gains an unwanted admirer, a new villain (?) causes unrest, and all of Class 1-A learns that keeping secrets is not always in everyone’s best interests.

OR

When Class 1-A was just about to rejoice that they had weathered the worst of the storm for this year, a villain appears to threaten what little peace and calm they had managed to hold onto after Kamino Ward (for most) and an exhausting internship (for some). Differently from the League of Villains though, this opponent could very well drive an insurmountable chasm between the hero students if they are not careful.

But how does one make the right choice, when strong convictions and unwavering morals clash with an ugly truth?

Chapter 1: YAP!NEWS

Summary:

It's good to take a closer look at your local news!

Notes:

Due to a recent encounter, I want to try to be more inclusive with this work, which is heavily loaded with visual elements that are important to understand the story. As such, in case there might be anyone who has the story read out to them (because of visual impairment or any other reason), I will write short summaries or descriptions at the beginning of the chapter in [brackets] and bold script. The same applies to images, where the description will be within the text right underneath.

Chapter Text

[This first chapter contains a reconstruction of the YAP!NEWS website that can be seen in the first episode of My Hero Academia. We have a basic menu, a search bar, a profile and log-out button. Underneath that we have the site’s logo and the current weather information. Then follows a line of tabs reading: home, news, the world, sports, and heroes. Finally there is a table with three columns. In the first one are thumbnails of photographs, in the second one the name of the article, and in the last one confirmation of there being pictures through the use of a small symbol with a camera. Articles follow under line break. End of description.]

Mt. Lady stops bank robbers on Highway

This morning gigantic pro-Hero Mt. Lady singlehandedly stopped a heist. Shortly before the Japan Post Bank office in Katsushika City was to open its doors for its customers, a group of masked robbers forced their way in through the glass doors with the use of their quirks and an armed car. After having threatened and even injured one of the two employees present, they drove off with a total 7.5 million Yen, presumably trying to use the Highway to get outside the city. Luckily, thanks to young and popular heroine Mt. Lady, the band of criminals was stopped before they could get any further.

[An image of Mt. Lady can be seen. She is winking at the camera while holding a small car in her hands]

“Luckily, I was in the area and not on my day off,” jokes Mt. Lady, after having taken the criminals, along with their ride, to the Police precinct in Katsushika Ward.

Current investigations suggest the perpetrators are a novel group of upcoming villains not related to other criminal organizations.

Reconstruction of Kamino Ward rejected again

Despite repeated attempts of finding investors to restore the destroyed sight at Kamino Ward, now legendary battlefield of All Might and his nemesis All for One, the necessary bill for reconstruction was rejected last Monday.

Reliable sources state that there are legal ramifications that make it almost impossible to find out whom the premise does belong to. Thus, no actions can be taken without pinpointing the actual proprietor of the affected area.

Locals are unhappy with the current situation, many stating that they wished government would at the very least consider removing unstable and hazardous structures, since many young teenagers have recently been spotted loitering in the area.

Kamino Ward representatives hope that the issue can be resolved soon.

Mysterious Vigilante Fleeing Scene after Brutally Assaulting Villain

On Sunday XXth, a mysterious figure appeared during a hostage rescue mission led by the Fatgum agency. According to witnesses, it is not clear when or where he joined the fight, but most of them saw him attack the villain after the victim had cried for help.

“We were trying to defuse the situation,“ says pro-Hero Fatgum, “We wanted to ensure that the victim would not be harmed and put under any more stress.”

Unfortunately for the recently recovered hero, the vigilante took matters into his own hands. Many witnesses admitted to having been shocked by the sheer brutality and cold-bloodedness of the mysterious figure in a black coat.

“Whatever quirk he has is dangerous! He moved his hand and suddenly the other guy was screaming and bleeding like crazy! I’m just glad that poor kid didn’t get a scratch on them.” says Nakamura Hino, an office worker who saw everything from the window of the office opposite of the alley the hostage situation took place in.

As the Police has confirmed, the vigilante’s quirk seems to be of the of the emitter type. An ability that would seem to allow them to cut up their opponent.

Police has advised the citizens to keep their distance should they encounter the vigilante and to contact them for any information available on “Smile”.

‘Smile’ is most recognizable for his hooded black cape and a black and white mask with a smile-like design.

[The amateur photography shows the scene of the hostage situation. In the foreground we see the face of the captor, obscured by a ballcap and face mask. We can see the crown of the hostages head but nothing more. They are shaking and likely scared. In the background is an alley with a wired fence. We can see a figure in a long coat and with a eerily smiling mask jumping down behind the hostage-taker.]

Minister criticizing current Quirk Laws

The current Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare, Nakamura, spoke in front of the Diet today, addressing once again the new bill concerning employment of mutation-type and non-quirked individuals.

Ever since the beginning of the rinjikai, Nakamura has been advocating to revise the bill entirely, his speeches inside and outside cabinet having sparked discussions and some dispute.

In an exclusive interview with YAP!News, Nakamura stated: “It is time for us to reconsider the laws and bills we have passed in the last 40 years and the impact they have had on individual members of our society. Our society, and the human species as a matter of fact, is constantly evolving. It is in no one’s interest, if we were to cling to rules that might not be beneficial to the evolvement of our country and people.”

The House of Councilors and the House of Representatives are still in disagreement over the matter, making it a possibility that this rinjikai might be drawn out if need be.

Many politicians of Nakamura’s party as well as the opposition have noted that, while by no means a quirkist, Nakamura has only recently become active in the anti-quirk discrimination movement and become one of its more prominent faces, alongside popular spokespeople like young artist “NeW” and Sakamoto Mayu, chairwoman of Japan’s branch office of the NGO “Still Here” – an international movement trying to bring awareness to the rising discrimination of un-quirked people.
