Summary
A high stress mission for everyone on team Voltron comes to a head with an urgent and terrified message from Shiro telling everyone to get back to the castleship because Keith's injured and unconscious. Thankfully Shiro gets to the infirmary and they get Keith in the healing pod in time. Three long and stressful quintants later Keith's finally getting out of the healing pod and everyone breathes a sigh of relief because everything is going to be okay now.

In a simpler time, full of innocence and childish wonder. Before years of pent-up hurt, betrayal, and resentment (amongst other things) eventually wore down their close-knit bond. There are treasured memories, though few and far between, hidden away and buried deep to protect them being tarnished by the present state of things.
One of these memories takes place on a cold, stormy day, in an old, rundown library a few blocks from Glass Shard Beach.

Buck flinches, bunches his hands up in his lap so he doesn’t make a snippy comment about the irony of her being the one to make that statement. “Don’t– Don’t turn that around on me. I– I– I’m not an addict.”

Chris smiles up at him like it’s any other day, like Buck didn’t almost kill him less than twenty-four hours ago. “Are you staying for breakfast?”
“Buck’s staying the whole day,” Eddie announces before he can answer.
“You are?” Chris asks at the same time Buck says, “I am?”
“Yep,” Eddie says with a finality to it that Buck is hopeless to argue over.
“Cool!” Christopher grins.
“Cool,” Buck echoes with a forced, strained smile. He’d rather be alone and hiding under the covers right now, throwing himself another pity party.

He’s halfway up when his knee gives a warning twinge, threatening to give out already.
He pauses, breath catching, fingers tightening around the towels. He waits for it to pass. It doesn’t.
The next step he takes is a mistake.
His foot lands wrong. Just slightly, but it’s enough as the pain spikes white‑hot up his thigh. His leg buckles, collapsing in on itself like an unstable house of cards. The towels slip from his arms, fluttering uselessly down the stairs as Buck grabs for the railing.
He misses.
