"Can I be a hero like you even though I am quirkless?" Izuku asked All Might, hands shaking, half expecting that he'll say yes because he really needs that answer. He wouldn't know what to do, he doesn't want the one person he looked up to reject his dreams as well. "No, maybe get a safer job? As a police officer, they're looked down upon but it has the same concept just safer." With that, he left hurriedly, like he was hiding something. Izuku looked down from the building, wondering if he would be able to die from the height. The answer was yes but he can stay in the world a bit longer. He walked home, slowly and painfully.
He opened the door, ignoring his mom and going to his room, shutting the door. He didn't bother turning off the lights and just went under his covers. He looked around, seeing posters and figurines. Angry tears fell from his eyes as he tore them down and ripped the posters. He looked at the pile of ripped up posters and figurines and flew to bed. He shut his eyes feeling tired and went to sleep.
~~~
Inko knocked on the door, "Izuku? Can I come in?" Her voice was soft and sweet. Izuku mumbled something and Inko knew that was confirmation. She opened the door and gulped, seeing all his All Might merch ripped, torn or shattered. "Honey, what happened?" Izuku didn't answer her question, "Mom, it's summer break, can I bring the tv in my room so I can play video games?" Who was Inko to deny him when he was crying his eyes out, "Sure, but only for summer break, okay?" Izuku nodded and Inko went to get the tv.
Izuku started playing the games as soon as he got it in his room. His thumbs were moving without thinking as he sat up emotionless on his bed with a blanket draped on his head and dripping down. The only light came from the tv that radiated a small portion of the room. He heard a knock on the door and mumbled for his mom to come in, "Honey, it's breakfast time, are you coming out?" Izuku shook his head, "I can't mom, I'm almost past this level." Inko continued, "Did you sleep last night?" Izuku didn't have time to think about the right answer, "No, I don't think so." Inko walked in, besides the tv, "Izuku, I get it, you're sad but the way you're coping isn't healthy." Izuku looked at his mom, "It's fine." Inko crossed her arms becoming sterner, "Izuku, you need to stop playing video games." Izuku shook his head, "I said I'm almost done this chapter."
"Izuku hasn't been feeling well mentally, I was just wondering since Katsuki and Izuku were friends he could do something," Inko said, whispering on the phone. Mitsuki agreed, saying he'll get Katsuki over to their house the next day. Inko thanked her and looked at the door that held a depressed, video game addict teen. There were a loud groan and a noise she remembered meant, game over.
~~~
Bakugou knocked on the door, grumbling about being here and wishing he was just home. Inko opened the door, smiling, "Hello, you've grown so much since the last time I saw you." Bakugou nodded, "It's been a couple of years." Inko asked, opening the door more letting Bakugou in, "You remember where his room is?" Bakugou nodded, how could he forget. Inko explained, "Just be careful, okay, I don't know what happened, he just stopped coming out and started crying." Bakugou wondered what might have happened, did he go too far?
He opened the door, not bothering to knock, "geez Mom, knock next time, please." Izuku was still in the same position, a white blanket on his head and his hands playing a video game, trying to beat a quest he was on. Izuku still hadn't noticed who was in his room so he continued to play.
"Deku, you idiot, stop playing these games and get outside." Izuku became startled and jumped off the bed, landing on his knees. His controller dropped to the ground with a smack. "Kacchan, what are you doing here? Don't you have the UA entrance exam coming soon." Bakugou nodded, "Yes, and I'd be focused on that if you're sorry ass would actually go outside." Izuku shook his head, grabbing the game controller and sitting back on his bed, "You don't have to worry about me, you can leave."
Bakugou snatched the controller from him and said, "Get up." Bakugou instructed, going to the tv to turn it off, "No, Kacchan, my progress, please don't do this." He ran to the taller boy, begging and pleading. "How long have you even been playing games?" Izuku replied, "A week or so, the last day of school." "Fuck Deku, when was the last time you ate?" Izuku couldn't answer that one. He was sure he ate something but he wasn't sure when.
"Let's go, we're getting something to eat," Bakugou told, shutting the tv off, already walking to the door. Izuku didn't make any attempts in moving to the door, but going straight to the tv, plugging the wire back into the wall. "Deku, you idiot, stop messing with that, we're going to eat something," Bakugou yelled, dragging Izuku who he thought was much skinnier than he remembered. Izuku screamed, "No, you can't make me, stop it! Stop it! Stop it!" Izuku kicked and yelled, trying to get out of Bakugou's hold of his shirt. His feet slammed into the ground, his hand going behind his head where he held Bakugou's wrist, trying to make his grip loosened.
"Deku, what are you, three?" Izuku stopped moving, lying lifeless in Bakugou's hold. His eyes were downcasted to the ground, "If I was three, I'd be happier." Izuku thought, before pushing Bakugou off him. Inko came in, her breath huffed, "What happened, are you okay?" Izuku nodded, "Yeah, Kacchan, you should just go."
~~~
"What happened to his posters?" Bakugou asked Inko near the door, "I don't know. He came home one day, crying and ripping and destroying every All Might thing he owned. Even his limited editions which cost him a lot of money." Bakugou thought it was strange, "Okay, he doesn't want help so let him wallow in his self-pity, he'll get over it eventually."
"I don't think he will." Inko said, tears threatening to fall, "He hasn't eaten in a week, no matter how hard I try, he'll throw it all up, he's too sad as well."
~~~
Bakugou opened the door, not thinking about knocking at all. Izuku looked at him, "I thought I told you to leave." Bakugou walked in, "And I did, I'm back now, you idiot." Izuku looked back to the screen, "You can go again, I'm fine, whatever mom said, she's probably exaggerating." Bakugou sat down, "What happened to all your posters?" Izuku answered, "I didn't want them anymore." Bakugou nodded, "I guess as much, but why? You've had the same figurines, posters since we were kids." Izuku shrugged, not wanting to answer the question. Bakugou stood up, "Let's go eat." Izuku shook his head, "No." Bakugou was going to drag him but remembered the meltdown yesterday, "I'm not asking again, let's go." Izuku looked at him and back at the tv, "No." Bakugou smiled menacingly, "I'll blow you up, let's go." Izuku raised his voice, "And I said no, I'm busy." Bakugou questioned, "Busy? Doing what? Wasting your life away playing video games?" Izuku yelled, "Yeah? Well didn't you say that quirkless people are useless so whatever I do is wasting my life away, so just as well do it here."
Bakugou went silent, "Is this why you're depressed? From what I said?" Izuku shook his head, "No, well, it's not a big part of it." Bakugou asked, "Then what is it." Izuku shook his head, trying to block him out and play the game. "Tell you Deku, what the hell happened?" He said, more violently. Izuku didn't reply at all, "Deku, answer me." Izuku groaned deeply, throwing the remote against the wall and flinching from the sound as it ricochets from the wall breaking in half. Bakugou was shocked by the reaction but thought this was a good opportunity. "You can't play anymore, so let's eat something." Izuku shook his head, "I don't want to go." Bakugou sighed, trying to contain his anger, "You don't have a choice, so let's go." Izuku looked around for another remote, failing to find one he got up and said, "Fine, let's go, I'll get another controller."
And that was enough for Inko and Bakugou.
~~~
"Where do you want to go eat?" Bakugou asked. Izuku looked around, "There's a video game store, I have to buy a new remote." Bakugou grabbed his wrist, "We're eating something." Izuku sighed, walking away from the store, not wanting to yell in public.
Izuku ate and ran to the bathroom to throw up. When he returned, Bakugou told, "We're going home." Izuku asked, rubbing his lips, "Are you disappointed, then again, when have you not been disappointed in me?" Bakugou ignored him, "Let's just go home." Izuku had nodded, not wanting to fight that because all he wanted to do was go home.
Bakugou took him home, "What did someone say to you." Izuku knew what he was saying, "I don't know what you mean." Bakugou shook his head, "Bull shit, what the hell happened a week ago." Izuku didn't answer once again. He didn't want to freak out again. Bakugou said it again. Izuku slammed his hand on the table with a fist and yelled, "Shut up, Kacchan, maybe the world doesn't seem as beautiful anymore? Maybe it just lost it's meaning."
Bakugou was getting somewhat to the truth, "The world doesn't seem beautiful anymore? Then I'll show you, it'll take a week. If you don't see the beauty in the world, I'll leave you alone." At the end of the week, Izuku would surely die from starvation.
"Okay."
~~~
Bakugou led Izuku outside, covering his eyes to surprise him, "If my eyes are closed, Kacchan how would I find beauty in this world?" Bakugou sped up, tripping Izuku a bit before slowing down, "Stop being a smart ass, it's a surprise." Izuku laughed a bit, catching himself before he fell.
When Bakugou stopped, he told Izuku, "Okay Deku, we're here." Izuku asked, "Are you going to let me see?" Bakugou let his hands fall from his eyes. Izuku looked around, multiple flowers with multiple colours were around him. Hues of pinks, blues, yellows, oranges, purples and whites were surrounding them. A stream of water travelling through the plants. There were butterflies around, "It's pretty," Izuku started, Bakugou felt himself smile, "too bad they're going to wilt and die." If Bakugou even had a smile, it disappeared.
"But we should stay for a bit, we can enjoy it for now," Izuku said, sitting down on the dirt path beside the stream. Bakugou nodded sitting with him. "It looks peaceful, having a garden that sits in time." He looked at Bakugou before looking at the transparent water that had stones at the bottom.
~~~
"Here." Bakugou extended a hand with ice cream. "Ice cream?" Izuku asked, "How will that help me be happy?" Bakugou sat down on the bench beside him, "You used to be really happy when I bought you ice cream." Izuku grabbed the ice cream doubtfully but licking it anyway. The ice cream was vanilla soft serve.
"Tomorrow we're going somewhere so bring a swimsuit," Bakugou said. "Pools are boring Kacchan." Bakugou stayed quiet. "Just be quiet and eat your ice cream, Deku."
~~~
"We're here," Bakugou said, he looked at the scene in front of him and hoped that it would be enough for Izuku to eat something. Izuku looked around, "It's a beach." He said, "It's really blue, usually water is brown from the mud underneath." Bakugou replied, "Well, yeah but there's sand underneath so it's see-through," Bakugou started to walk forward, "okay, let's go." Izuku followed.
They were in the water, Izuku shivering, "It's cold, Kacchan." Bakugou nodded, "No, shit Deku, it a beach." Izuku followed further into the water that was reaching his hips. It was the third day and Izuku had almost fainted on the way to the beach. He didn't seem to worry but Bakugou was silently concerned.
"There's fish." He noted, amazed he could see everything without going under the water. Bakugou agreed and said the same thing as before, "Yeah, we're in a beach Deku, what did you expect." Izuku looked around, "It's so pretty." Bakugou knowingly smiled this time, "to bad the water will poison." Bakugou started to walk towards Izuku, "Stop being so negative, we're seeing it now, it still looks pretty." Izuku nodded, "Kacchan, I want to tell you something but I'm too afraid to." Bakugou asked, "What?" Izuku shook his head, sinking deep into the water, "You'll make fun of me." Bakugou wanted to know, he wanted to see Izuku's mind and find what happened two weeks prior. He was surely happy before he left school for the last time.
~~~
Bakugou was in Izuku's room, "Let's go, I got another place for you." Izuku got up, dubiously before collapsing to the ground, "I'm sorry Kacchan, I'll, I'll get up." Bakugou carefully took Izuku's arms, helping him up, "So where are we going?" Bakugou put him in bed, "Nowhere, we're staying here, I'm getting you something to eat." Izuku held his hand tighter, "Kacchan, you know I'm just going to throw it up." Bakugou repeated, "I'm getting you something to eat." Izuku saw Bakugou leave.
Bakugou came back after a few minutes, "Please just eat, it's soup so it'll be easier to keep down." Izuku grabbed the bowl and started to eat it. "Kacchan, I don't feel so good." Izuku tried to get up but then stopped, "Kacchan, I'm fine, I've been wanting to tell you something." Bakugou nodded, listening to him. Izuku opened his mouth full of words quiet words. Izuku started, "two weeks ago, I-" He stopped and put the cover over his head facing the other side of the room away from Bakugou. Bakugou put a hand on Izuku's back, rubbing it delicately, "It's fine, at least you ate something without throwing up." Izuku turned to face Bakugou, still under the blanket. He had looked at him, "But I can't tell you what I've been desperately wanting to say." Bakugou reminded, "We still got time."
Izuku sat up, extending his arms and hugging Bakugou. "Thank you, Kacchan."
~~~
Bakugou looked at Izuku, "Let's go, I've got something for you." Izuku got up, holding Bakugou's arm to not lose balance. "We're going to a restaurant." Izuku stopped, "I'm going to throw up though." Bakugou continued to walk, pulling Izuku behind him, "You didn't throw up yesterday, have some faith in yourself." Izuku nodded. He had started, "Okay, let's go."
They arrived, Izuku got something light, not wanting to throw up. He didn't want to die yet.
