Work Text:
Jungkook hates it here.
Namjoon places a poorly made mixed drink in Jungkook’s hand and while it’s not the quality he usually drinks, it’ll still get him drunk by the end of the night.
He takes a small sip and the taste of cheap vodka makes him want to gag.
It’s typical that the two of them go out drinking on the weekends but tonight is different, tonight the two of them decided to go to a frat party.
Or, Jungkook should say, Namjoon decided that they were going to a frat party. That morning his friend casually mentioned that one of his friends from class lived in a frat and really wanted him to show up to their party tonight.
Jungkook is a good friend and couldn’t let his only friend go to a dirty frat house alone.
He downs the rest of his vodka and lemonade and sets down his cup.
The frat house is filled to the brim with people, everyone talking over each other.
Jungkook glances over the crowd, eyeing up each person wondering if he really wants to even try and hook up with someone tonight.
“That guy over there is so hot.” Namjoon leans over to talk directly into Jungkook’s ear.
Before Jungkook can respond with a “who?” he notices exactly who Namjoon was talking about. It’s hard to miss him.
Said guy is in the middle of the room, dancing like he knows that he’s managed to catch the attention of the entire room.
He has blonde hair parted to show his forehead and he’s wearing a sparkly button up shirt that’s showing off a lot of his chest. He’s wearing multiple dangly earrings in each ear and a plethora of long necklaces around his neck.
Sure, he’s conventionally attractive but he also looks incredibly familiar.
The boy’s eyes lock with his across the room and Jungkook realizes where he knows him from.
“Fuck Joon he went to my high school!” Jungkook whisper yells as he breaks eye contact and frantically scans the room trying to find somewhere to hide because said boy is making his way over to the two of them now.
“Jungkook!” he yells, lifting one hand up in a friendly wave. Fuck, fine.
“Jimin!” Jungkook sighs as the boy finally reaches them. “I didn’t expect to see you here.” Jungkook moved three hours away from their hometown so he really is surprised to see him here at this college at all.
“I go here actually..I didn’t know that you went here too! It’s really been a while since we’ve talked hasn’t it?”
Jungkook isn’t really that surprised that neither of them knew that they went to the same school. They weren’t exactly friends in high school.
When they were really young, the two of them were the best of friends. Jimin grew up next door to Jungkook and they spent all of their youth playing together in each other’s yard.
Jungkook has a lot of fond memories of the two of them playing in the soft grass that resided between the two houses. Countless games of tag and catch were played in that exact spot, Jungkook can almost hear the sound of Jimin as a child laughing if he really thinks about it.
But, childhood friendships are fleeting and Jimin’s family moved right before middle school. They tried to still be friends but it wasn’t the same as before.
Jungkook joined the soccer team and Jimin started doing theater. Before he knew it, it was freshman year of high school and the two of them hadn’t spoken in over a year.
Jungkook had his own friends in high school and Jimin had his. They never overlapped or interacted with each other much. They didn’t even share any of the same classes throughout any of their years. Constantly separated by multiple factors.
Jimin and Jungkook graduated without speaking to each other in over five years.
It hadn’t really bothered Jungkook at the time, he never really thought about all the friends he had lost throughout his entire life but with Jimin right in front of him, it was hard to not let all of those fond memories flood back.
And here he was, it’s the first time Jungkook has really looked at him since middle school. He’s grown up nice. His waist is thin and his thighs are thick. Jungkook’s not really sure why that’s what he noticed at first. He looks more confident than Jungkook’s ever seen him and he has a feeling that he’s going to have trouble forgetting him now.
“Hi.” Jimin says, turning his focus to Namjoon and holding his hand out. “I’m Jimin.” He’s looking at his friend through his eyelashes and the two of them shake hands for way too long. Jungkook’s not dumb, he knows that Namjoon is also very attractive and that he regularly has both men and women take double takes when he walks down the street but something about this interaction leaves a bitter taste in Jungkook’s mouth.
Namjoon gives him a look that says please leave us alone and Jungkook really doesn’t want to stick around to watch Namjoon flirt with his childhood best friend. “I um..I actually said i’d meet someone here so I should go..you should stay and talk to namjoon though!” Jungkook says to Jimin. If he didn’t know any better, Jimin looked disappointed at his words but Jungkook knows that he’s just imagining things.
“Okay..it was still nice to see you again. Hopefully we run into each other some time again soon?”
Jungkook just nods instead of giving him an answer and walks away from the two of them. He can see Namjoon moving closer to him and it encourages him to walk away from the scene even faster, Namjoon works fast.
He feels sick to his stomach and decides that he’s going to go home instead of try and find someone to go home with.
All he knows is that he’s an excellent wing man and that he hopes he never sees Park Jimin again after tonight.
------
Jungkook sees Jimin a lot sooner than he thought he would.
The very next morning to be exact.
All Jungkook wanted was to have his morning coffee in peace when Jimin walks into his kitchen with nothing but a large t-shirt and short shorts.
His neck is littered with hickeys and Jungkook pointedly tries to ignore them.
“Oh I’m sorry..” Jimin says as soon as he notices he’s not alone in the kitchen. “Namjoon told me to come and get some water I didn’t know you were awake.”
“Yeah..” Jungkook says awkwardly, his brain only truly focusing on the hickeys on Jimin’s neck.
“It’s kind of weird to see each other again like this huh?” Jimin laughs as he makes his way over to the sink and grabs two cups from the cupboard above him. “I mean I haven’t talked to you since I was a chubby little seventh grader who didn’t even know he was gay yet.” Jimin’s voice is full of amusement and it makes Jungkook smile, now thinking about the young Jimin and Jungkook.
“Do you remember when I bit your cheek so hard when we were like five because I thought it looked soft and you cried for like an hour?” Jungkook asks, not even sure where this random memory even came from. He hasn’t even thought about Jimin in years but now his brain wants to pull up random memories.
The question makes Jimin throw his head back in laughter. “Of course I do! That was traumatic as shit Jungkook! imagine having someone bite your face!! I will never forget that as long as I live I swear.”
The room falls silent again and Jimin clears his throat.
“You know… I do really miss talking to you and if you wanted to… we could exchange numbers and maybe meet up sometime soon and like actually catch up? Where we’re not drunk or i’m not in your kitchen post fuck?”
The reminder that Jimin just had sex with Namjoon sits sour in Jungkook’s stomach for some reason but he still nods yes.
He hands his phone over to Jimin and lets him put his own number into his phone and text himself.
Jimin’s phone goes off with a ding and the man looks up at Jungkook with a wide smile.
Jimin eyes disappear when he smiles large enough, his brain helpfully supplies. It throws Jungkook into yet another memory he had buried.
“Your eyes always disappear when you smile.” A small Jungkook says.
“Oh,” A small Jimin says, looking up from his coloring book. “Does it look weird?”
“No...I like it.” small Jungkook declares before turning back to his own coloring
“This has really been nice we definitely have to meet up okay? If you bail on me I know where you live!” Jimin says cheerfully, shaking Jungkook out of his memory.
And with that Jimin retreats back into Namjoon’s room and Jungkook is left to wonder what he really got himself into.
------
Two days later finds Jungkook sitting in the corner of a very fancy and aesthetically pleasing coffee shop with a small hot chocolate in his hands.
He keeps on licking the whipped cream on top anxiously as he awaits Jimin’s arrival.
Almost immediately after Jungkook heard Namjoon and Jimin saying goodbye to each other in their living room, the other had texted him asking when he was free next so that they could get coffee together.
Jungkook hates coffee but he still told him he was free on Sunday.
He here he is, completely out of his element, praying that Jimin shows up soon at least.
After another tense five minutes later, the blonde comes stumbling through the door.
“Sorry sorry!” He practically yells as he makes his way over to where Jungkook is sitting. “I didn’t mean to be late I got distracted by feeding my cat and then I got to texting my brother and-” Jimin stops himself, “Sorry, I'm rambling I don’t really have a good excuse but i’m sorry for being late.”
“It’s okay.” Jungkook says shyly “I didn’t mind waiting.”
“I did it all wrong now though!” Jimin groans “I was going to buy your drink and even a pastry and we would be completely comfortable and now i’ve ruined it.”
“You haven’t ruined it I promise.” Jungkook says, not sure why he wants to comfort Jimin so bad. “Here, let me buy your drink so then at least some aspect of your dream is true.”
“What no!”
It takes another minute for Jungkook to get Jimin to agree to let him buy him a drink but soon both boys have their hot drinks in front of them.
“I wasn’t exaggerating before, it is really nice to see you again after all of these years.” Jimin starts.
“Yeah I guess it has been…” Jungkook’s never really been good at small talk like this, or talking in general.
Luckily Jimin is a well adjusted human and carries a lot of their conversation.
He talks about what it’s like being a dance major and gossiping about a couple of the people they went to high school. He really didn’t know so many people in his graduating class ended up involved with pyramid schemes.
Eventually Jungkook loosens up and starts pulling his own weight in the conversation. He talks about playing soccer for the school and reciting many of his horrible drunk stories.
Before long, the two of them are laughing so hard, it’s difficult to get words out.
Jungkook can’t remember why the high school version of him would ever let Jimin go when the two of them clicked together this well. He can’t even remember the last time he laughed that hard with someone else. It honestly might have been Jimin when he thinks about it.
They’ve been in the cafe for three hours now and Jungkook can tell that they should leave. Their barista is giving them a dirty look.
“I should probably go..” Jimin trails off, his voice making it obvious that he really doesn't want to leave.
“Yeah me too…” Jungkook agrees even though he doesn’t want to leave either “I have a lot of homework to finish.”
“One more thing before we part though.”
Jungkook narrows his eyes in confusion.
“I really like Namjoon and I was wondering if it was okay if I asked him out on a date.
“What?” Jungkook says, more confused than he was before. “Why would you ask me? You’ve already slept with him you don’t need my approval.”
Jimin blushes. “I know it’s just.. You’re his best friend and I want your approval. Like, am I even good enough for him?”
Jimin didn’t think he was good enough for Namjoon?
“I know Namjoon comes off as super smart and intimidating but he’s a complete buffoon.” Jungkook insists. “Trust me he’s not too good for you, if anything you’re too good for him.”
This pulls a laugh out of Jimin and his shoulders relax.
“Thanks Jungkook, that made me feel better even though you really threw your friend under the bus.”
“That’s what best friends are for. I build him up and tear him down at the same time. Plus he can’t complain he’s going to have a boyfriend.” Jungkook doesn’t know why the last sentence comes out almost bitter.
Jimin just laughs at him again.
“You’re something else Jungkook...we really should leave now though. I’ll text you okay we should do this again.”
“Yeah we really should.”
And as The pair of them leave the coffee shop and Jungkook watches the blonde walk down the sidewalk away from him he realizes that he really meant it.
He wants to see Jimin again.
------
Turns out that Jungkook doesn’t really get to see Jimin again, at least not in the way that they hung out before.
Namjoon and Jimin start dating pretty much right after their talk at the cafe. At first it’s very casual and Jungkook only sees Jimin in their apartment about once a week.
But then, about a month and a half into the relationship, they fully integrate into each other’s lives.
One Night Jungkook returns home to find that not only is Jimin there, but there are also four other people he’s never seen.
Jimin introduces them all to him as his friends, Taehyung, Yoongi, Seokjin, and Hoseok.
Jimin is clearly a good judge of character because every one of his friends is hilarious and extremely fun to be around.
And so, Namjoon and Jungkook integrate themselves into Jimin’s friend group over the next month. Before Jungkook knows it, he has five other people to go out with on the weekends, not just Namjoon. Jungkook wasn’t really expecting to get along with Jimin’s other friends this well, but he really likes Taehyung, Yoongi, Seokjin, and Hoseok. The seven of them match well even if Jungkook kind of hates to admit it.
They go bar hopping most Friday nights. The walk from bar to bar downtown, getting slowly more and more shit faced every hour.
These nights are fun and Jungkook enjoys them more than he originally thought he would.
But these nights always end with Namjoon and Jimin making out in the corner of the bar they’re at and Jungkook has to drag the two of them into an uber with him.
The sight always makes him furious and he snaps more at the two of them most of the times he has to share a ride with them.
Jimin’s friends always look at him weird when he gets this way but Jungkook knows they’re too nice to ever say anything to him.
The worst part, is that when the three of them are in the back of the car on their way home, with Namjoon’s hand around Jimin’s shoulders and Jimin’s hand up high on Namjoon’s thigh, all Jungkook can really think about is how much he misses Jimin and how he wished that the two of them would hang out again like they did that one day months ago.
He blames it all on the alcohol every single time.
------
“It smells good in here.” a voice says, still rough from sleep.
Jungkook doesn’t have to turn around to know that it’s Jimin emerging from Namjoon’s room glowing from a night with his boyfriend.
It makes Jungkook feel sick every single time but he never has any idea why.
“Good morning Jimin.” Jungkook says, staying focused on the pancakes he’s cooking instead of turning to face the other.
Jimin spends a majority of his nights over at Namjoon and Jungkook’s apartment these days so Jungkook sees him at least three times a week in his kitchen.
Jimin is an early riser like Jungkook, both of them awake well before Namjoon is.
They’ve kind of developed a routine, if Jungkook knows that Jimin is staying the night he’s cook breakfast for the two of them and they’ll eat together until either Namjoon wakes up or one of them has to go to class.
It’s a nice routine and even though most mornings they eat in silence, it’s comfortable and Jungkook looks forward to the mornings they get to spend together even if Jimin always comes out wearing just Namjoon’s shirts that are way too big on him and slip down his shoulder showing Jungkook all the colorful marks Namjoon left on his neck and his collarbone the night before.
He wants to look away but he’s never quite able to. It haunts him.
Jimin peaks over his shoulder to look at the pancakes in the pan. He rests his hand gently against Jungkook’s waist and Jungkook flinches away subconsciously.
Jimin just stares at him in confusion before his stomach growls and he turns his attention back to the pancakes.
“Are they almost done, I'm starving.” Jimin whines, turning back around to sit on one of the bar stools at the kitchen island.
“Just one more minute okay.” Jungkook says, flipping the pancake over one last time.
With the last pancake finished, Jungkook places the pile on the table and passes Jimin a plate.
“Take as many as you want, I kinda made too much batter.”
Jimin giggles and takes two large pancakes. “You’re so sweet Jungkook I can’t believe you’re single!”
Jungkook blushes and chokes on his own spit but Jimin doesn’t notice, too busy happily munching on his pancakes.
“It’s just out of the box, it’s not that big of a deal.” Jungkook mutters, placing a pancake on his own plate.
“Still delicious!” Jimin cheers, taking another bite.
They both fall silent after that, completely focusing on shoving pancakes into their faces.
The two of them were as equally as messy when it came to eating so when they finally finished, the table was a mess.
“Sometimes I can’t believe how alike we are, look at how messy we both are.” Jimin muses, staring at the mess on the table before starting to clean.
“I guess so.” Jungkook responds, trying to come off as casual even though he thinks the exact same thing.
“Like,” Jimin continues, putting his plate in the sink. “our humor and our mannerisms are similar, our personalities kinda just match perfectly.”
Jimin is quiet for a moment before continuing.
“It makes me wonder what happened all those years ago that drew us apart if we were so compatible.” Jimin says quietly, still not facing Jungkook.
The question throws Jungkook off, not being able to give an answer himself.
“I-I don’t know. I guess we just had different interests in high school, simple as that.”
Jimin nods and finally turns back around, his eyes wide and vulnerable. “I know that’s probably it but I still missed you and I still kind of miss you.”
The words pierce Jungkook’s heart and he freezes. He allows himself to fully realize that he missed Jimin too and that he really misses Jimin now.
“I’m right here.” Jungkook manages to force out. “If you miss me then let’s hang out okay? I’m not going anywhere.”
Jimin gives him a huge smile and lunges forward to wrap his arms around Jungkook. He smells like vanilla and fresh laundry. It’s a calming scent.
“I’m so glad I have you back in my life.” Jimin whispers next to his ear making goose bumps rise all over his arms.
“Me too.” He whispers back.
Right as Jimin let’s him go they hear the door to Namjoon’s room open.
“You guys are so annoying.” He groans “Why are you two always up so early.”
“Joonie, it’s 10pm.” Jimin giggles, bouncing over to his boyfriend and playfully wrapping his arms around his waist.
The sight makes Jungkook feel hollow and all he wants all of a sudden is to not be in the same room as the two of them.
“I have class soon, I should get ready.” Jungkook mumbles, leaving the room before either of them can respond.
He doesn’t miss Jimin’s wide eyes follow his figure across the entire room though.
------
The next day Jungkook finds a smiling Jimin at the door of his apartment.
“Namjoon went home for the weekend.” Jungkook says, confused as to why Jimin would even be there if Namjoon was gone.
“I know!” Jimin says, letting himself into the apartment. “But I thought that this was the perfect opportunity for just the two of us to hang out! That first time we hung out at the coffee shop I meant it when I said that I wanted to hang out with you more. We hang out all the time but it never actually feels like we’re hanging out you know?”
And as Jungkook thinks about it, it’s true. When they go out together he barely even sees Jimin, the other man opting to spend the night next to his boyfriend rather than with him.
And those mornings they spend together are special but are always fleeting.
“Okay, what did you want to do then?” Jungkook asks, closing the door and following Jimin into the living room.
The two sit down on Jungkook’s sofa and Jimin makes a humming noise.
“Honestly I don’t know I didn’t think that far ahead.” Jimin admits, leaning back into the sofa and giving Jungkook a guilty smile.
Jungkook laughs and slaps Jimin’s arm playfully making Jimin break out into laughter as well.
“How can you come over and demand that we hang out but have no actual plans!”
Jimin laughs even harder and leans his body into Jungkook’s. His head is resting against Jungkook’s shoulder and he can feel the way that the other’s body shakes each time he laughs.
“Okay okay” Jungkook says, sitting up straighter so that Jimin would slide off of his shoulder. His heart feels heavier. “How about we go to that new bar downtown? I’ve been wanting to see if it’s any good.”
Jimin sits back up and tilts his head, thinking about Jungkook’s plan. “I mean, all the boys are going to be mad that we went to a bar without them but whatever, I do kinda want to get drunk right now let’s do it!” Jimin cheers and quickly stand up. “I have to go back to my apartment to change though, this is not a bar appropriate outfit.” He gestures down to his turtleneck sweater, blue jeans, and chelsea boots combination and Jungkook can’t help but agree.
“Okay, do you want to meet at the bar or meet here?”
“I can come back here in like an hour okay! Don’t leave without me!” Jimin yells as he leaves Jungkook’s apartment.
Jungkook takes a deep breath and walks into his room to look for an outfit. He doesn’t know why, but he feels like it has to be absolutely perfect. He feels like he’s going to need it tonight.
------
They’re about six shots into the night and Jungkook could tell that Jimin is absolutely wasted. He’s saying back and forth on the bar stool he‘s sitting on and Jungkook reaches out to wrap one hand against his waist, to steady him of course.
Jimin doesn’t even notice, he just continues his swaying and even leans into Jungkook’s touch a little bit.
Jungkook’s not really positive why his entire arm feels like it’s on fire but maybe Jimin’s body is just too hot.
His drunken brain helpfully supplies that Jimin’s weight fits into Jungkook’s arms perfectly and it wonders what it would feel like to carry him. Jungkook’s brain has always been weird.
“You know,” Jimin slurs, leaning in ever closer to Jungkook. “I used to have a crush on you in high school.”
The information shocks Jungkook so much that he almost drops Jimin.
“Wh-what?”
Jimin giggles “Yeah I thought you were super hot and you played sports, of course I was going to have a crush.”
Jimin’s attitude turns suddenly somber. “But you never even noticed me in high school so it didn’t even matter.”
Jungkook shake his head trying to process what Jimin was saying right now and also hopefully sober himself up.
“I was a dumb idiot in high school. I notice you now and the me that exists right now is miles better than the one in high school.” Jungkook argues, his voice getting dangerously whiny.
It must have sounded more whiny than it did in his head since Jimin starts giggling at him.
“Well, I'm glad I have your attention now.” Jimin smirks, leaning into Jungkook’s space a little bit more.
Jungkook’s throat goes completely dry.
Then suddenly, the song playing over the bar’s sound system changes and Jimin jolts up in his seat.
“I love this song!” He yells, jumps out of his seat. Jungkook doesn’t fully process what Jimin is during until the blonde makes his way over to one of the tables in the bars and climbs on top of it.
This can’t end well.
The bartender gets to the table before Jungkook can and is telling Jimin he needs to get down.
All Jimin is doing is shaking his hips and laughing.
He looks really good and Jungkook is stunned into silence.
But then the bartender starts yelling and Jungkook realizes that he needs to get Jimin down if they don’t want to be banned for life.
“Jimin!” Jungkook yells up at the blonde finally catching his attention.
“Jungkookie! Come up here and dance with me it’s so fun!”
Jungkook brain is screaming say yes at him but he forces it down.
“Jimin we have to dance down here okay. I’ll dance with you if you get off the table.”
Jimin groans, annoyed, but slowly gets down from the table anyway.
“You’re no fun!” Jimin pouts once his feet hit the floor but Jungkook is laughing.
“You’re too much.” Jungkook manages to get out between laughs.
He can feel all of the eyes in the bar glued on the pair of them but Jimin is smiling at him now and he finds that he doesn’t care if anyone thinks that the two of them are crazy.
“Let’s get out of here.” Jungkook says, already dragging Jimin to the door of the bar.
The step out into the brisk night air and both break into laughter.
“I still want to dance on a table! Why can’t I dance on a table!” Jimin yells. “Let’s dance right now in the street!”
“There’s not even any music!” Jungkook yells back.
“Who cares! We don’t need music, just rhythm!” Jimin insists, pulling Jungkook into the middle of the empty street with him.
At first they’re just shaking their hips and laughing at each other until Jimin wraps his arms around Jungkook’s neck.
Without even thinking, Jungkook wraps his arms around Jimin’s waist and pulls the two of them closer together.
Their chests are touching and Jimin’s gaze has grown darker.
Jungkook’s entire body is on fire.
They’re drunk, Jungkook knows that it’s just because the two of them are dunk. But all he wants to do right now is lean in.
He can imagine it vividly too, the way Jimin’s lips would feel and the way the other would respond so enthusiastically. The way he would squeeze Jimin’s hips even tighter in his hands and move them up his back. The way Jimin’s hands would move to his hair and yank on it.
The way Jungkook would take him home and have him on his knees.
But none of that is real. Absolutely nothing about that can happen. Namjoon is coming back home tomorrow and Jungkook isn’t a horrible friend and Jimin isn’t a horrible boyfriend.
So he steps out of Jimin’s grasp and the spell between them breaks. Jimin’s eyes are wide and Jungkook knows that he’s remembering Namjoon which makes Jungkook’s guilt run even deeper.
“I should take you back home, It’s pretty late and you’re pretty drunk.” Jungkook says, trying to not let the guilt seep into his voice.
He probably doesn’t do a good job since Jimin just nods and doesn’t bother responding.
The stand a reasonable length away from each other and walk back to Jimin’s apartment in silence.
Jimin thanks him kindly when they reach his apartment door and disappears inside before Jungkook can respond.
Jungkook has a sinking feeling that something was just ruined forever and that nothing will ever be the same after this.
------
Jungkook hasn’t heard from Jimin or Namjoon in over four days. He’s starting to panic.
He’s ruined his relationship with two of the most important people in his life right now and they both hate him for ruining their relationship.
He’s felt on the brink of tears at all times for the past two days.
A true emotion wreck.
The only thing keeping him sane is the fact that all of Jimin’s friends are still talking to him. Both Taehyung and Seokjin have hung out with him on campus this past week but Jungkook is too afraid to ask them about Jimin.
He’d rather suffer in silence than find out that the man doesn’t want to hang out with him anymore.
He doesn't even like Jimin like that it was just him being drunk and stupid. It didn’t mean anything and he just wants to let Jimin know.
Absolutely nothing.
At least that what he keeps telling himself over and over again.
But, it’s another two days until Namjoon pounds on Jungkook’s bedroom door unannounced.
“Can we talk?” He asks when Jungkook opens the door.
Jungkook gulps but opens the door wider to let his friend walk inside.
He hates that he feels so awkward around someone he’s been friends with for years now.
Namjoon settles himself on Jungkook’s bed and looks up at him when he stands in the middle of his room awkwardly.
“Jungkook sit down, stop being so stiff.”
Jungkook forces himself down on the bed and loosens up exactly zero percent.
“So Jimin told me what happened when I was gone..” He starts and Jungkook stiffens even more.
“And at first I was mad but then I got to thinking. Jimin and I honestly haven’t been in the best place the two weeks before I left and I actually did spend a lot of time thinking about us. And while I was mad, I realized that I just thought that I should be mad but I wasn’t actually mad.”
Namjoon takes a deep breath and continues. “So I asked Jimin how he felt about me and we had a long conversation about how we both felt that our relationship had reached its end. It really had nothing to do with that night but that helped both of us realize how we already felt.”
Namjoon then turns to look Jungkook directly in the eyes. “I’m telling you this right now because when Jimin talked about you I knew for a fact that he would never feel the same way about me as he does for you. I know how you look at Jimin and act around him and talk to him and I'm telling you that you should go for it.”
The words leave Jungkook absolutely speechless.
“What the-i’m- no I don’t” Jungkook stutters.
“Jungkook.” Namjoon says, tired. “We’ve all been watching you dance around Jimin since the beginning. At first I just thought it was because he was such an old friend that you were just fond of but I was wrong. It’s so clear you two like each other so please go get him. Make him happy okay.”
And Jungkook really thinks about it for the first time. He thinks about Jimin smiling and laughing and dancing. He thinks about the way Jimin feels pressed against his side and his hands around his neck.
He thinks about his hooded eyes and his sly smirk. He thinks about his thick thighs and his thin waist.
He thinks about how excited he is to always see Jimin, how he blushes whenever Jimin compliments him. He thinks about how his days are no good unless he talks to Jimin.
Jungkook abruptly stands up from the couch and turns to Namjoon. “I have to go. Right now.”
He bolts out the door and he faintly hears Namjoon yell “Go get him!” after him.
------
Jungkook didn’t mean to run the entire way to Jimin’s apartment but here he is outside of his door panting aggressively.
He leans his hand against the door to try and regain his breathing when the door is yanked open. Jungkook falls to the floor.
“Jungkook?” Jimin asks as Jungkook groans on the floor.
“Hi Jimin.” He says weakly, his face still pressed against the cold hardwood of Jimin’s apartment.
“What are you doing here?” Jimin asks as Jungkook manages to pull himself up and face the other man.
“I have to tell you something important but um...the falling kinda ruined my plan.” Jungkook chuckles nervously.
Jimin starts to smile softly. “Should I close the door and let you try again?”
Jungkook smiles and nods.
Jimin closes the door and Jungkook knocks.
“Hello-” Jimin says as he opens the door, getting interrupted by Jungkook’s lips on his.
Jungkook was right, Jimin responded just as enthusiastically as he thought he would that one night, he really doesn’t want to stop at all.
“I like you..a lot.” Jungkook admits once they separate.
“I like you too.” Jimin whispers back, like it’s a secret.
Jungkook just smiles at him though and pushes the two of them further into Jimin’s apartment and closes the door behind him.
He’s not going to waste any more of his time not kissing Jimin.
